    Great Fu
This camera is great fun for kids. It is really easy to set up and use. It comes with an SD card which is great as you can access your pictures later. The print quality of the pictures isn’t bad given the price of the camera. The battery life is great, especially as there are other features such as a video mode, games and Music. Overall a great value camera for kids.

Fun kids camera with instinct gratificatio
This is a great option for budding photography enthusiast kids and the ability to instantly print your photo allows for a level of gratification that’s often missing from modern photography. It’s retro I guess but provides a delightful experience for youngsters. The print is a little bit grainy but given its thermal paper and the cost of producing the prints is not significant, we couldn’t be more thrilled with it.

    Easy to use
My kids absolutely love this instant print camera. It’s so easy for them to use, and they enjoy seeing their photos print out instantly. The camera also records HD videos, which is a nice bonus. The creative functions like filters and frames keep them entertained for hours. The included SD card has plenty of storage, and the battery lasts through long play sessions.

    high quality photos
With two shutters and an instant print feature, my daughter can capture precious moments and have physical copies of her photos in seconds. It’s very exciting for her to see her pictures come to life right before her eyes. Despite being a kids’ camera, the picture quality is surprisingly good. The camera comes with a 32GB SD card, which has lasted a good amount of time so far, and it even has a space for an extra memory card if she wants to save some pictures digitally too. This camera is incredibly user-friendly, even for young children.

    Fun, entertaining and well-buil
Colour me impressed. This camera with built-in thermal printer has a great form factor aimed at slightly older children. The crucial thing is, it prints instantly and produces some of the best thermal paper printed reproductions I’ve seen on such a device. You can’t set your expectations too high given the technology but I was impressed even with suboptimal lighting conditions. There is a little bit of banding but the detail is great.

There are lots of templates and you don’t have to print a photo immediately, you can just take snaps. One thing to be wary of with the templates is that it doesn’t compensate for where the photo portion will be so you need to position yourself and frame it accordingly.

The buttons and navigation system are not that intuitive but you soon get used to how to operate the thing. In fact when taking photos you have a button on the back and the front to suit your style of operation. The front button is more “camera-like” but also easier to use when taking a selfie. Selfies are aligned using the domed mirror plate a bit like some of the original camera phones.

The clear display gives you access to other applications too such as video, music and 4 games! The whole thing chirps along too when turning on and off and using the camera itself. You can adjust the volume in the settings as well as change various other settings too relating to how it prints.

The kit comes with a lanyard that has a neat detachment mechanism operated by a push button. There is a charging cable so you can use a standard charger, charging port or power bank. It also comes with 6 tiny felt-tipped pens. You can use these to colour in the print outs and whilst they do take to the smooth thermal paper they smudge very easily even if you leave it for a long long time to dry. Colouring on the back of the paper is more successful but kinda defeats the point. Talking of paper, you get 3 rolls in the kit that should keep you going for a while but you can easily buy more as it’s standard size.

Overall this is an entertaining device that I will resist calling a toy because I think it has good utility for a creative young person. It feels well-built and should last.

Note: I have reviewed two of these devices and whilst they are listed as different manufacturers are both were identical (other than colour) and came in the same unbranded box. I could see no difference at all between them.

Adorable and Fun Camera for Kids!
The CKATE Kids Camera Instant Print is a fantastic product. My 7-year-old son loves the instant print feature, and it’s great that the camera comes with a 32G SD card, providing ample space for photos and videos. The 1080P HD quality is surprisingly good for a kids’ camera, and the dual shutters are a nice touch for capturing different types of shots.

The Dream Purple color is super cute, and the two shutters make it versatile for taking different kinds of pictures. It’s durable and has survived a few drops without any issues. This camera is perfect for young children who love taking pictures and would make an excellent birthday gift for any child aged 5-10. Highly recommended!

    Great for kids
This camera is a great addition when taking the kids out somewhere so that they can join in with taking photos without the need for them to have their own phones.

The camera is a nice chunky size which means it is really easy to hold.

The photos aren’t Polaroid quality that the promo photos suggest, this comes with a roll of thermal printing paper which it prints on to.

The camera has quite a few settings that you can go through to play games etc, but really the main thing it is wanted for is to take photos.
It does that really easily, with the button on the front you can take a photo and print it out without any messing.

There are pens included to allow the pictures to be personalised once they have been printed out.

Overall for the price this is a good camera to give kids a taste of the old Polaroid type cameras at a reasonable price.

    Quick Reviews!
Ever since my daughters starting using thermal printers via their phones, my son has wanted in on the action. He’ too young for a phone, but can take a mean selfie. With this child friendly camera, he’s able to take a variety of ‘interesting’ snaps and then print them out in seconds. You have to be discerning with what to print, as there is only a limited amount of thermal paper, but you can find and purchase refills when required. This part of the camera is simple to use, and the quality of the print out is fine. It’s not as high quality as what is sisters are able to print, but he doesn’t care.

The only main downside is that, as this is a kid’s camera, it comes with a tonne of other features – games, and ways to further edit your picture via borders, effects, and squiggles. These can be quite fiddly and not the most intuitive or user friendly, to the extent that we haven’t told my son that they’re included. He just wants to take the pics and print them. The camera is sturdy enough for clumsy hands and you’ll be able to wipe it clean without much issue.

Perfect for the junior amateur photographe
This camera is amazing as a gift for the creative young person. It’s easy to use and looks great, but it’s also a good choice for developing your skills and exploring new ways of creating images.
Don’t be fooled by the bright colours and plasticky case: it’s a genuine camera for stills and video, as well as a playback device for mp3s and video files.
The lens is a fixed type so all the zooming mentioned in the listing is done digitally, just like a smartphone. That means the quality drops significantly the closer you zoom as you’re actually zooming in on the image you’re seeing not the object itself. As a point and press camera however it’s fine, and as 99% of the pictures we all take are snaps it’s going to do most things asked of it.
It’s easy to set up and the buttons and menu are pretty straightforward. Younger users will probably need a little bit of help at first but once they’re familiar with it they’ll be able to get going on their own. Taking photos and video is simple and you just compose the setup in the lcd screen on the back and then shoot.
You can add a variety of filters afterwards and you can also save the images to the SD card and transfer to other storage options.
The main appeal for youngsters is going to be the printing option. It’s essentially a thermal printer just like the ones used in cash registers, so the picture comes out like a receipt with a black and white image on it. The pictures on the listing are misleading however as they appear to be actually B&W photos but come out more like line drawings. They’re quite good as a novelty but they’re not photos. A group of friends messing around with it will have a good time printing out pictures of each other, and it’s a lot cheaper than the actual instant cameras that are available.
In the box you get three rolls of printer paper, a strap, a micro SD card and some felt pens for decorating the pictures once they’re printed.
For the price I think it’s a smashing idea for a gift and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a different present for a young person.

Great entry level camera for children.
My children love to play around with cameras but don’t often get a chance to see any physical prints and this is a great in-between camera allowing them to take some photos and see the results instantly.

The chunky camera is easy to hold for children of all ages and the simple one-touch photo capture and print is useful. It does take a few attempts for the children to get ripping the photos off cleanly, but they got there eventually.

The prints are not the best quality but are passable. There are a tonne of features that make this fun for children., The felt tips to decorate the photos after, the built-in filters and the games (which are a little frustrating) and the lanyard for easy carrying.

Whilst the camera is unlikely to be able to take any mind-blowing pictures, it’s a great little camera to take out and about for the children!

Mostly kid friendly (aside from parts of the menu)
This is a fun kid-friendly camera.

    What you get:
    Camera (video/pictures)
    32gb SD card (already installed)
    Pens
    Neck strap
    3x rolls of paper

So it’s a pretty good deal. It’s easy to use and the menu is fairly intuitive — although I couldn’t figure out how to change the date. I also had a really hard time playing Tetris. That said, I don’t think most users would bother much with the games, so I regarded them as an optional extra, rather than a key feature.

The quality of the print-outs are massively oversold in the promo pics — they look to be black and white photo levels of quality, rather than thermal print-outs.

Nonetheless, there are good features, even if it takes awhile to figure out what button will allow you to do what you want. It’s not exactly intuitive. The filters are fun, and I like that the SD card is included and already installed.

Overall, I think this is a good way to let young children take pictures or videos without having to hand over something as expensive as your own phone, and the neck strap will help avoid dropping issues.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA cute little instant camera that is a fun introduction to photography
We were impressed with this little camera, but how would our 13 year old granddaughter find it? Read on:
Before turning on, you notice it is a nice lilac colour, but the plastic case does feel a little low quality.

When it is turned on you are greeted with a little melody, this can only be turned off by lowering the volume (but then shutter sound is also muted). Navigating the menu is not intuitive and takes some practise. Fortunately, to take a photo you only need turn on the power, select camera (press OK) and you can use the shutter button on the front of the camera to start taking photos straight away.

It is supplied with a 32gb SD card, and so the images are stored on that for later use, or you can make a black and white printout of the photo. By changing the print settings, you can get very nice little black and white photos. We tried it with a roll of Phomemo sticker paper and it worked well (so no trouble with replacement paper)

There are lots of fun features in the menu, including filters, games, video record and playback and even an MP3 player. But it’s strong point is as a camera for a youngster – and it does this job very well. Our granddaughter loved it and is looking forward to trying it out with her friends.

    What we like
Reasonable quality full colour photos (where light is good) that can be transferred to your computer for later use. (see last photo taken with the camera in low light)
Nice quality black and white ‘instant’ photos on demand.
Turn it on and start taking photos straight away.
You don’t have to print every photo.
    It records video.
It has a zoom feature (press and hold the up or down cursor keys)

What we were not keen on.
The quality of the 8mega pixel photos is not as good as most phones.
The case feels a bit plasticky.
    The tricky menu navigation.
Poor low light performance (very grainy)

Those points aside, we love this little camera!

    Great Fun Toy Camera
I got this for my nine-year-old daughter on a whim because I thought it might be the kind of thing she’d really like. I was right!

It’s a very simple camera with not overly impressive specs, but for a toy camera that prints on thermal roll in black and white it’s perfectly adequate. The user interface is a bit clunky but not overly difficult to navigate. The camera has photo and video modes (though I’m 99.9% certain you can’t print out videos…) and it also has an MP3 mode and games.

You can change the video and image quality in settings so I just set the highest for both as the camera comes with a 32GB micro SD card, which I was very impressed with. When I got it out of the box and saw it needed one, I thought I’d have to buy one. The SD card comes pre-installed in the camera.

Loading the paper roll into the camera is very simple (and slightly reminiscent of putting 35mm film into an “old fashioned” camera). There are arrows on one side of the camera indicating how you side the front and back halves in opposite directions and then fold the camera open.

You can choose to have the camera print as soon as you take a photo but whether or not you do that, the photo is stored on the micro SD card so it’s probably worth just printing them when you preview them. Also, if you forget to turn off the print while shooting option, it’s not too difficult to accidentally take a photo and get a blurry photo of the wall (we did that already).

The front of the camera has a tiny mirror so you can use it for selfies, and to make things easier it also has a shutter button on the front so you don’t have to go groping around the back to take a photo or start a video.

The camera charges via a USB C socket on the bottom, underneath a rubber protector. You can also connect the camera directly to a computer and then it acts like an external drive and you can copy/view the photos, and transfer any other files. I’ve tried putting an MP3 on the camera and listening to it and the quality isn’t great (as you’d expect) but it’s also pretty quiet.

The quality of the photos is typical 8MP, quite pixelated (see attached Optimus Prime photo for comparison to printed image). The video quality is a lot better, though still not perfect (considering the settings say “1080”), but the audio quality when recording videos is dreadful. I don’t know where the microphone is but it’s not very good. However, I’m not judging the camera too harshly as it is a child’s toy, an a fairly inexpensive one at that. The printing is the main novelty and it does that very well.

    A very entertaining toy
My biggest problem with reviewing this is determining what age child this is aimed at. Three is too young, I think. Four, maybe, but I don’t think that a four year old will be able to navigate the interface particularly well (though my four year old granddaughter is completely at home with an iPad and Apple Pencil). I think possibly six or seven years is the appropriate target in that the child will not yet have a smartphone and will still be amused by low-resolution greyscale pictures printer on thin paper.

But it is good for what it is, and I would consider it educational in that you can teach a small child to frame and compose pictures using this. It even takes video, which surprised me, although the little hole for the microphone is on the back, facing the operator and not on the front to capture the sound of the subject.

It also has some games built into it, (as if children these days need more excuses to sit staring at a small screen). Quite cleverly, they thought of a way to allow the child to frame a selfie by providing a tiny convex mirror on the front of the camera. When taking a selfie you just check to see that the blob that is your head is in the middle of the tiny mirror and the shot will be right; a low-tech solution to a high-tech problem.

In all, I like this, and I’m looking forward to giving to my granddaughter when I next see her in June and to watch with fascination to see how she takes on the interface, which isn’t easy.

I recommend this for the appropriate age of recipient.

Update: 25 Jul 2024. My son told me that this camera is still his daughter’s favourite toy. She takes many photographs with it and has an album in which she sticks the results. The fact that the image is very low resolution and in black and white makes no difference to her, in fact the opposite is true, that the images are stylised rather than accurate makes it more fun for her.

Great camera but PINK not purple
Wow! This is a great little camera for kids. It can work up to 5 hrs when fully charged. A good instruction manual is included. It just does so many things: photos, videos, prints, plays music and even games. It comes with a SD card and a cable so precious photos/videos can be downloaded. There are several settings for printing that give different effects — results (all B&W) are pretty good for a kid’s camera. I can see I’ll need to stock up on the thermal paper rolls — 3 are included but we’ll soon go through that! Can recommend this camera but there is just one point I’d like to make — the listing states that it is purple, well either the listing is wrong or I’ve been sent the wrong item as mine is distinctly PINK! As this was intended for a boy it is disappointing.

Should Keep Children Occupied For Hours!
The product comes in a colourful box which had my nephew happy enough straight away! After taking off the cellophane wrapping, we opened the box. Apart from the camera it contains; 3 x rolls of paper — similar to a till-roll (extra can be bought via Amazon), a USB-A to USB-C cable, a lanyard, some colouring pens, and an instruction manual.
It was quick to set up, easy to use, and seemed quite robust (at the time of writing, it is still in one piece!)
The prints are black & white and slightly grainer than advertised, but that didn’t seem to bother him – the instant print means that everyone can see what’s been taken — again, and again, and again Thankfully, you can then use the prints for a bit of calm using the colouring pens. The paper rolls seem to be lasting a good while also.
The fact that you can still get a ‘real-life’ colour image from the memory card is a nice touch.
Who would have thought that an instant print camera would be something different in this modern day and age!
