Good but over sensitive
Replaced my eve thread sensor with this as I’ve fallen out of love with threat, too unreliable. This is a good robust sensor, however even on the lowest sensitivity it picks up bushes in light wind and cars on the road over 20m away. Will have to see if I can cover section with black tape but connectivity is really good.
Brilliant sensor that works well with the external light.
Really pleased with this sensor. It is very sensitive so we’ve got our set on low sensitivity. Using the app means we can have the sensor ‘on’ at certain times of the day and set to do ‘nothing’ at other times of the day.
Works grea
Used for front door so not to leave the lights on all night coming home late. Easy to setup and configure with HUE app. Battery is still working great after months and months.
Confusing software not for those with little tech knowledge
Can be very confusing to setup, so lots of practice is needed but once mastered stay on top of how you did it ! And I’m a very competent tech savvy person.
Needs to be far more out of the box easy setup
Does what it says on the box!
Good quality motion sensor that has not once failed since installation (around 6 months).
Have my house fitted with Philips Hue device show this was a nice add-on to light up an area where the car is parked. Has been great during the dark evenings when returning from work.
Battery life seems good so far, haven’t had to change them and still holding at 93% with moderate use.
Used in conjunction with Philips Hue light bulbs.
+ Uses normal AA batteries which iam using low drain rechargeables.
+Join my hue network instantly and controls my outside hue lights.
– i found it too sensitive and eventually discovered that wind blowing outside furniture covers was enough to trigger it whenever it was windy, now using electrical tape to mask off that area off and so far so good.
These are quality products
I’m sure that there are others on the market, but if you have Philips Hue kit, these are the ones to get. They work effortlessly. You can customise how it reacts depending on the brightness means the time of day. I suppose you could make it shine green if it detects movement before 20:00 and shine red after 20:00 if that’s what you wanted to do. There is also a potentially hidden feature. It has a temperature sensor built in so you can check what the temperature is like out there.
Great outdoors motion detecto
I have integrated this sensor with Home Assistant to provide notifications if there is motion detected in my garden. Battery lasts for ages, and can’t beat either the Hue indoor or outdoor sensors for reliability and ease of use.
Great quality and features for Home Assista
Having light level and temperature is great for my Home Assistant light automations. Currently it is sat on the inside of a window as the signal is too weak to get through the wall, but hopefully adding a repeater will resolve this. Otherwise impressed.
**Pros:**
I recently added the Philips Hue Outdoor Motion Sensor to my smart home setup, and it has proven to be a game-changer for my outdoor lighting. Here are some of the key advantages:
1. **Versatile Mounting Options:** The Philips Hue Outdoor Motion Sensor offers versatile mounting options. You can attach it to a wall, ceiling, or even a post, making it highly adaptable to your outdoor space’s layout.
2. **Sleek Black Design:** The sensor’s sleek black color not only looks stylish but also blends seamlessly with most outdoor aesthetics. It’s a tasteful addition to my outdoor decor.
3. **Smart Integration:** This sensor brilliantly controls both my Philips Hue outdoor lights and Innr bulbs within my outdoor wall lamps. It offers seamless synchronization between these devices for a unified lighting experience.
4. **Weatherproof Reliability:** I love that this sensor can handle the elements. With an IP54 rating, it’s perfectly suited for outdoor use, whether it’s raining or sunny.
5. **Customizable Sensitivity:** The sensor’s sensitivity can be adjusted, allowing me to fine-tune the range at which it detects motion. This ensures it caters to my specific needs.
6. **Daylight Sensor:** The built-in daylight sensor is a practical feature. It ensures that my outdoor lights don’t turn on during the day, saving energy and prolonging the lifespan of the bulbs.
7. **Long Battery Life:** Thanks to its low-power Zigbee connection, the two AAA batteries last a surprisingly long time. I haven’t had to worry about frequent replacements.
**Cons:**
However, there are a couple of drawbacks to consider:
1. **Pricey for an Accessory:** It’s worth noting that this sensor falls on the higher end of the price spectrum for an accessory. But given its solid integration with the Hue system, its support for Innr bulbs, and its durable design, I believe the cost is justified.
2. **Limited Compatibility:** This sensor is primarily designed to work with Philips Hue products. If you have other smart lighting brands in your setup, you might face some integration challenges. That said, it works perfectly with my Innr bulbs.
In conclusion, the Philips Hue Outdoor Motion Sensor has made my outdoor smart lighting experience more convenient and secure. Its versatile mounting options, sleek black design, and reliable performance are well worth the investment. Plus, its seamless control over both Philips Hue outdoor lights and Innr bulbs within my outdoor wall lamps adds a layer of sophistication to my outdoor lighting setup. Just make sure it aligns with your existing smart home setup, and you’ll enjoy brilliantly illuminated and secure outdoor spaces with a touch of style and flexibility.
