Rmbpow Switch Pro Controller for Switch/Switch Lite/OLED/PC, One-Key Pairing Gamepad with 9-Colour RGB LEDs High Battery 6-Axis Motion Wake Up Functio

It's cheap and it works well
This product is one of the many hundreds of Switch/Universal controllers currently on the market, and as usual it is also compatible with Windows PCs (and several other systems including Switch).
Here are my main highlights for this product:
Good size, not too big or small
Decent battery
Accurate thumbsticks, Switch Pro layout
RGB lighting options
Doesn’t connect perfectly
Firstly, this joypad costs less than 16 at time of review, so I am not expecting anything close to genuine Switch Pro quality. Anyway, as you can see there is a lot I like about this pad. The positives generally outweigh the negatives. It feels decent to use, and I got used to it after about ten minutes and forgot it was a generic controller. It has all the bells and whistles you can fit into a controller like this, and a larger than average battery too. It’s not as good as the original of course, but then it’s a fraction of the price. For 90% of games it will be fine in terms of responsiveness and accuracy.
The main thing about this product is that it is a BlueTooth device, and not 2.4ghz wireless. That means on PC you will need BT on your motherboard, or have a BT dongle.
The only technical problem I have is that it doesn’t always connect the first time, regardless of device. Usually the second attempt is fine, and it stays connected no problem.
Having used quite a few wireless Switch/Universal controllers over the years I can say that this is average, which makes it great for the low price.
This is a great second controller for a Switch or PC.
Great quality
It has exceeded my expectations! I connect it to my Nintendo Switch incredibly quick and hassle-free. The 9-color RGB LEDs add a fun aesthetic, allowing me to customize my gaming setup.
The ergonomics are fantastic, making it comfortable to hold for long gaming sessions. I particularly appreciate the 6-axis motion control, which enhances gameplay accuracy for motion-sensitive titles. The battery life is impressive; I’ve been able to game for hours without worrying about recharging.
I highly recommend it for anyone looking to upgrade their gaming experience!
Cool Controlle
A cool controller. Lights are super kid friendly and it feels like a proper switch controller. Can be used with other devices via Bluetooth. On android the buttons are a little weird in games, but I think that’s to be expected as there isn’t much of a standard anyway.
Sticks feel good, buttons a bit stiff, they might relax a bit with wear but you’re not going to be doing any fast gaming on this right out of the box as it stands. Don’t get me wrong, it’s completely usable and some might feel it’s nicer, and not ‘mushy’ as some third party controllers we’ve used have been. Definitely feels solid.
There was 9 colours lights and 4 modes to chose from
The Rmbpow Switch Pro Controller came the next day.
The controller was well packed and it was well built and it came with charging cable and instructions.
After fully charging it up which is fast charging and it can last for up to 18hrs ?.
There was 9 colours lights and 4 modes to chose from and there is vibration on it with 4 adjustable vibration levels and it can also be connected to a pc via a cable.
My son is very pleased with it and all the colours that on it.
Well made and constructed, works well
This is a good looking, well made controller, that is well sized and sits comfortably in the palms of the hands. I used this with Windows and Steam games. Setting it up was simple, after it is charged, which takes a few hours but the charge lasts for over a dozen hours play.
To set up with windows, you press and hold the home key after using Bluetooth settings on windows to add a device. The controller is immediately recognised and can be connected. If the home key is pressed and the controller is not connected successfully via Bluetooth it will turn itself off after 20 seconds or so.
When it is switched on the controller lights up and it looks good. The D-Pad, buttons and Joysticks are all very responsive and the buttons all have good depressiona dn bounceback.
You can also connect via a USB cable but given the choice would always connect wirelessly. It’s a good controller and at a very good price considering its quality.
Very Good
I was blown away by the Rmbpow Switch Pro Controller! The one-key pairing process was seamless, and the ergonomic design fit perfectly in my hands. The controller’s buttons and joysticks felt responsive and precise, making for an immersive gaming experience. The build quality is impressive, with a sturdy construction that can withstand regular use. Overall, I’m thrilled with this controller and would highly recommend it to any Switch or PC gamer looking for a high-quality alternative
Very colourful but ergonomics could be bette
When tried to pair it up with my Switch I had to connect it directly to the console via the USB cable as it couldnt connect it straight via Bluetooth. After initial pairing it works great with home button nicely waking up the Switch.
First thing that you notice is that it is very colourful and there are some surprising light effects when to use joysticks. Buttons works great but the home button is in unusual place in between right joystick and the directions cross buttons. There is also very useless ‘turbo’ button which I don’t know why after market controllers seems to always have it.
Overall this cintroller works very well Wil joysticks move smoothly and accurately.
The only thing that I find it annoying (my kids love this controller because of the colourful lights) is the ergonomics. My left thumb somehow goes numb after few minutes of playing on this controller and my hands gets tired much quicker.
It might just be me and my hands as my kids didn’t say anything about it.
Battery is surprisingly good. Have been using this for the last two weeks and charged it only once at the beginning.
Overall, fairly good quality controller with cool looking lights effects. Obvious the price is great for what you get.
Great controlle
Love this controller, so easy to use, and find this shaped one a lot easier to use than the controllers that came with my switch.
The thumb sticks are perfectly balanced and move well, no sticking all of the buttons and pads are comfortable to use for long periods of time.
The shape is a lot easier to hold than the normal controllers.
Great value, and rechargeable too.
A really nice controlle
This controller surprised me, especially how comfortable it is to use and the feel of the thumb sticks and buttons, it’s very good.
The visual appearance with all the lights is very different, I don’t think I’d have chosen that myself if I didn’t get it free with Amazon Vine but it actually looks good in the flesh and you don’t really ever look at it when you’re playing.
Works very well with the Switch, almost as good as my pro controller.
A bargain for the price and its feeling like it’ll last too. Recommended.
Great budget priced controlle
Have to remind myself that this is a low priced controller that includes wireless connectivity, currently priced at 15.98 which is a bargain.
It has some nice RGB lighting effects, you can select a colour, get it to flash or breath slowly through the various RGB colours – very effective.
I used the wired mode on PC – worked very well – fully functional playing Rocket League, this is a true test for the controller as it uses the joysticks, triggers and buttons, all fine controls worked well.
The reason I give 4 stars is because I find the controller a little small, and therefore uncomfortable in my large hands, the worse part is the left and right triggers which curve up sharply at their ends, I don’t like that at all. For smaller hands probably would be fine.
The D-Pad feels a little cheap, some directions are clicky, but others not.
Overall, as a cheap controller it does an admiral job, however, if you are after better quality you need to invest more.
Budget friendly controlle
Tried this with gaming laptop, Samsung phone and Lenovo Tab11 and was able to get it connected to all wirelessly.
Laptop – although it isnt shown as being able to connect wirelessly it can and the connection is stable 0 you can also use the cable to use it as a wired controller – I did find it had a slight delay when connected via the cable versus wireless. Didnt get the vibration but everything else worked fine – lights are a nice feature but not really necessary for me.
Samsung phone and Lenovo tab – connected both via BT – did have an issue as it can only be connected to one thing at a time so you need to make sure it is disconnected from anything else nearby before pairing. Easy to pair and use and pretty responsive.
Comfort – comfortable enough to hold – have found it a bit confusing as the controls seem to be a hybrid between PS and XB so has taken a while to get used to these.
Battery life – battery appears good but its had to tell as there is no battery indicator – did use for a couple of hours and it lasted but something to indicate low battery would be good.
For the price its dece
Not so great if you have large hands and thick fingers.
The ‘Rmbpow Switch Pro Controller for Switch/Switch Lite/OLED/PC, One-Key Pairing Gamepad with 9-Colour RGB LEDs High Battery 6-Axis Motion Wake Up Function’ arrived in a printed box that also contained a USB A to USB C charging cable and Instructions.
It has been several years since I used a controller such as this, and the last one was wired. I am reminded why I always found these a little difficult to use, and that is I have large hands and fingers. My wife who has considerably smaller hands had no difficult using the controller.
Most of the buttons are easily to press, though I found the lower trigger buttons at the front with its guard shield made them harder to use.
Connection to Android via Bluetooth took only a few seconds, and response time on the few games I have installed was adequate, though I admit I am not an avid gamer who probably measures response time in milliseconds.
For someone who has used similar controllers on a regular basis, this controller will probably serve them well, but for myself I found it harder to use some aspects than others, a lot may also depend on what games and therefore buttons that are used.
Pleasantly surprised
Great little controller, connected to the switch quickly, it feels heavy and good quality, surprisingly not cheap! Great changing colors and love the pattern, it’s so pretty. There is weigh to the buttons you press and they click when you use them which is really nice as many controllers don’t click. The R2 L2 triggers are a bit steep but the grip is really good so the controller stays in hand really well even during an intense match. It’s slightly smaller than most switch controllers, more compact. Once again the decal is really nice, it’s a beautiful piece to play with. The instructions in the manual were actually very clear and straightforward. I couldn’t say about battery life though as it was not apparent upon first play.
Worked great on my switch and asus tuf gaming laptop!
Really nice and comfortable to hold gaming controller that i feel is more aimed at the switch than others but did work great on my laptop!
It was extremely easy to set up on both devices and was no lag or drop in the bluetooth connection whilst using it.
I must admit i found the instructions useless and the buttons a little confusing at times!
but i still like it as it is very responsive and feels good to hold.
It charges fairly quick using the provided usb-c cable and once charged it does last a long time.
The lights on this do look good but i feel some people may find them a bit to distracting, But i like them.
Really good controller at a good price and i would easily recommend it…
Best Switch controller I've tried, very ergonomic and nice effects
I took a punt on this controller and I’m so glad I did, it’s the best one I’ve tried for comfort and better button/stick positioning, the lighting was quite pleasing too.
Pros
So ergonomic
Thumbstick and button positioning
Colourful backlighting
Good quality construction
Responsive
Turbo button
Adjustable lighting
Compact
Cons
Buttons difficult to read
The controller comes in a pretty bland box but does illustrate the controller well enough, inside the contents are standard with the main controller, a USB-C charging cable and the instructions.
Holding the controller for the first time I knew this was the one that I had been seeking, the ergonomics are almost perfect, but it was the button and thumbstick layout that made it for me as they felt easier to reach than most I’ve tried and they are rounded which also helps for comfort.
Size wise, I have medium adult hands, it feels small but in a good way, it gels into your hands well and I think it will suit most hand sizes.
The construction felt very sturdy with no creak under stress, the plastic quality is high end and looks really nice with a smooth satin finish, the underside is textured for a better grip too.
Lighting
I had zero interest in this, as an adult gamer I don’t care for gimmicks such as this, BUT I soon ended up really liking this feature. it looks sooo good, it is perfectly diffused and subtle rather than bright and tacky if that makes sense? I really liked the adjustments you could make and the various colours, there a really nice slow breathing option that looks the best to me, or you can always turn them off if you prefer.
Pairing was quick and easy and the ‘HOME’ button always woke my Switch up instantly (unlike a lot of cheapo controllers I’ve tried), and easy to put into sleep mode.
But the overall appeal to this controller was the comfort while playing for long sessions as I didn’t suffer from fatigue that I got from my other controllers, the buttons were always responsive and easy to press, I couldn’t blame the controller for my rubbish gaming skills anymore.
Overall Conclusion
THIS is the controller that I’ve been seeking, the size, comfort, durability, button response, ergonomics and the groovy lighting make a well polished and affordable alternative to the rubbish included controllers, for the price it is a steal.
Great controller for PC games too
Although this is primarily a wireless controller for the Switch console, it’s also a wired controller for PC gaming. Upon plugging in the USB-C cable, games from my Epic and Steam library recognises the controller and all the buttons without any configurations. The labelling of buttons is different to X-box but that’s ok because the placement of the buttons is actually the same as the X box controller.
I always prefer wired for minimum latency, so this is for me, primarily for my PC gaming but being a Switch controller is a bonus too, but I only play the switch with its own controllers, I don’t really have a need to use any separate controllers for it unless perhaps playing the Switch on the TV which I hardly ever do.
But as shown in my video, the controller is very responsive, and the real attraction is the colours, it is so cool. Depending on the games I play, I either have it on the gradual colour rainbow change for mild games and for fast paced games I will have it on the funkier multicoloured flashing moving patterns.
I love the controller, top marks.
Good quality controller that works great via Bluetooth or USB in Windows 11
This Switch Pro Controller from Rmbpow has a cool look with various light effects and has a good quality feel to it in use. Although primarily designed for the Nintendo Switch it also works great as a wireless controller in Windows 11 via Bluetooth even though the Amazon product details says it does not support wireless connection on a PC and this is not mentioned in the instruction leaflet either, but as you can see in the photos, it pairs and connects fine as “Pro Controller”. All buttons and analog joysticks are available (the “turbo” setting also works on all buttons, which is great for blasting your way through levels on old school shooters like R-Type Leo). Alternatively you can also connect via the supplied USB cable and use it like a standard “USB Gamepad”. Battery life seems good, there is no level indicator but I was able to spend several hours of continuous testing on various emulators and driving games with no problems. Also works fine with emulators on my Realme Android phone, and Amazon Fire Tablet, although I did need to disable Bluetooth on my Windows laptop when close to it. So even if you don’t have a Nintendo Switch this controller can be used with many other devices, the main thing lacking (unless PC/Android games directly support it) is rumble feedback (though you can test vibration by moving the left analog stick up and down while pressing the turbo button), so be aware of that if you intend to use this with PC games. (Also the motion sensors are not used in PC games)
A wireless controller, that combines elements from each platform.
A wireless controller, that combines elements from each platform. Rechargeable via USB-C, with cable included.
Triggers are like that of a PS4 controller, thumbstick and ABXY like Xbox One, and other misc buttons like Nintendo Switch.
Pairs quickly (tested on PC), no issues with thumbstick drift as of writing, but will update this review in time, if necessary. The battery is built in and cannot be easily accessed, if it fails. Overall body feels cheap-mid range, and has a LED backlit firework pattern, which illuminates when pairing and when switched on. Connecting to consoles, and adjusting turbo functions and lighting settings, can be changed with button presses, outlined in the guide booklet.
Modern controllers aren’t cheap, ranging from 50 to over 100. For 20, this is a decent budget controller, an alternative to pass to the kids, or simply as a testing device. I’ll be utilising it as a temporary controller for some fighting games, until I can afford a newer fight stick!
Happy to recommend. 🙂
