Brilliant combination microwave. There are physical buttons that are precise & easy to press. Not those awful touch buttons that are hit & miss. It is compact for such a comprehensive appliance. There is a large handle for opening the door & not those really hard to press buttons. It can take a full size dinner plate. It has an inverter that makes it the quietest microwave I’ve ever had. The inverter means anything in there is microwaved evenly throughout. The price is amazing compared to the other equivalent brands.
The only negative is the programming of the combination settings. You will need to keep the comprehensive user booklet with it forever. Toshiba use non-intuitive symbols for the different programmes. I’m sure they could have used short words for these programmes.
However this is a small gripe for such a great appliance. I’ve stopped using my main kitchen oven now as I’m cooking for 2 of us. I highly recommend this appliance. It’s a game changer.
This review is for the 6 in 1 microwave with steamer. I’m very impressed with it. I would like to clear something up that I keep hearing from other reviews. The confusing air fryer automatic settings. Yes they are confusing and largely pointless. But at least automatic settings are unimportant because. When the air fryer is on it means that the oven and the grill is on full blast with of course thermostat control. So all you have to do is pick the oven and grill combination setting and then choose the time cooking. So you can choose precisely how long you would like to air fry. You don’t have to go anywhere near the rather pointless auto programs. I’m personally not a big air fryer user but I can see it is not as an effective as a dedicated air fryer. But on the plus side the grill heats up very quickly once you get used to picking the right height and the right time. It’s very handy for quickly or warming up a pasty. There’s no temperature control on the grill so it is a bit hit and miss until you get used to it. Also be very careful using the supplied round baking tray. Because when the grill is in use there is a hot spot right at the centre about 2 in in diameter which could actually damage your pan. I would recommend getting a non-stainless round baking tray.
The oven is really good but does take its time to warm up and you have to choose 20 or 30 higher than the stated temperature. The giveaway is this oven saying it can go up to 240that is clearly an exaggeration for an oven of this size and power. Also it takes a good 10 minutes to warm up. You can’t beat physics The temperature sensor will heat up fast because it’s small but to really heat a whole oven it does take about 10 minutes. Then I would say the oven cooks beautifully very even. The benefit of a turntable really helps with even cooking. Even fan assisted ovens had air fries have dead spots. I toasted a load of peanuts and they came out completely uniformly golden however I initially set the temperature to 170 but the internal thermometer that I put in read about 140 which slowly crept up to about 150. So if you want 170, you probably best to choose 200.
The microwave is the real key feature, it’s such a time-saving device. Where my mum comes around I’m heating two plates. Instead of standing by the microwave worrying about splatters and overheating all the time. The lower power settings really seem to warm a plate through and you don’t even need to stir it. The defrost is brilliant. I always used to mess about with putting meat in plastic bags and immersing them in water to defrost because the stand would microwave defrost would always burn the edges. For something really delicate you can go down to 10% microwave power. Standard defrost is 30% The interface is really nice I think it’s generic because I’ve seen it on sharp microwaves. The inverter technology is real because I’ve tested the power consumption and it drops down with each setting. This microwave gets some criticism for exaggerating, it’s air flying ability. I’m not sure about the steam function I don’t know if it has a steam sensor which then reduces power. If it does that’s an amazing feature but it’s not mentioned. The steam tray is basically something you would get off Temu for a couple of pounds. For me the idea of cooking in plastic is not very appealing You can steam really well by just putting veg in a glass container with a centimetre of water at the bottom.
I bought it when it was on sale for a bit of a discount which made me feel better about the whole thing. But all in all I absolutely love it.
Does exactly what I hoped it would and more. Works great as a normal microwave, and the power can be properly controlled, which is great for defrosting. The grill works nicely too – you put the food on the provided baking tray and grill rack and it rotates the food under the grill. The convection oven on its own needs a bit of time to heat up, but it works well too. You can also use any of these three main functions all at once, or in any combination. This allows for a huge range of cooking methods, but it can also get a bit confusing. You have to refer to the manual to understand what many of the programs do. Also you have to be careful not to use the baking tray and/or grill racks when the microwave function is enabled as part of the program. Therefore, if you are cooking something like pizza and you use the auto-cook program for that, you need to just use a normal non-metallic plate, which will get very hot during cooking. Having said all that though, you really can get excellent results for most kinds of food with a little practice using this device. There is also a provided plastic steamer tub which you can use to steam food. The “air fry” mode is actually just the convection oven and grill in combination. It is by no means an actual air fryer, but tbh that was pretty obvious to me before I bought it. It can get similar results though. I am very pleased with this purchase and it should be very helpful while my kitchen is renovated and I only have a temporary kitchen to use. It also looks pretty nice and will have its place in the new kitchen. The only downside is that the power cable is very short, but this is a problem with a lot of microwaves.
It’s an awkward beast! But it’s a good beast!. What it does it does really well, but it’s over complicated. A simple display saying words like” Convection, Microwave, Grill, Oven, etc would have made it really easy to use. Instead you press a button three times, press function, twist a dial and press start 3 times kinda thing. When you figure it out it does everything really well. Toasting bread for example toasts it perfectly, uniformly cooked (no lines). Better than a toaster but takes a little longer. It’s really good but the horrible interface lets it down. If you buy this you’ve got a good product – but don’t buy this for your mum.. She will find it hard to understand. Final words…”DONT LOSE THE INSTRUCTIONS!”
Good little microwave
Works well and is very slightly quieter than my previous Panasonic microwave. I bought it as folk said it was quieter. I tend to just use it to heat drinks and reheat and cook food. The ‘beverage’ button is pretty pointless as far as I can see as you have to press it 3 times for a mug whereupon it proceeds to heat it for 3mins, whereas you can just press the number 3 once and get it to do the same thing !?! Hey ho.
Microwave.
I hadn’t realised that it would have a dark interior. The knobs are very smooth. Both make this slightly difficult for me to use. Hands need to be dry and grease free to operate the knobs which are also dark. Accuracy needs a torch.
That said it does what it should.
On Offer For Less Than 60 Quid
My elderly parents carers put a meal in their microwave which had a tinfoil base. I can’t grumble since the carers are lovely to my folks but sometimes there’s is a bit of cultural difference as maybe they haven’t experienced a microwave in the past, (bless ’em), so no biggy.
I had to get a new one and this was on offer for less than 60. What’s great about it is it’s simple. No confusing microprocessor and 1001 different settings, it’s the timeless design of a power knob and a timer knob. Mom and Dad had some nice hot meals since Sunday when it came and the carers haven’t managed to blow this one up yet.
Name Brand Quality
Purchased this as a replacement and went with name brand vs. Other options. Works great with quick cook buttons and programmed meal buttons. Easy setup and easy clean. More reviews #realtysharpe on many social media platforms
Basic fast cook Toshiba Microwave Oven. Manual Operatio
Don’t ever be fooled by stainless steel Inside and out microwave ovens.
I don’t usually purchase a Microwave oven that has that grey-painted outer frame.
I had purchased a Stainless Steel Microwave that lasted approx two years and the magnetron decided to fail.
Although I could have repaired it, I decided to go for a basic manual operation oven.
In the long run, a new magnetron would have priced out just by buying a new oven.
Of course, you cannot hear it because of I.D Content playing in the background.
Cooks fast and a brand I have always found their products are durable.
Excellent microwave if anyone is on a budget, It has a 20-litre capacity.
Perfectly satisfactory
What I know about microwave ovens could be written on the back of a postage stamp. I needed to replace my broken oven, and was looking for one that was not too large, not too powerful and easy to operate. I took a chance on this model and, thus far, I have been very satisfied with it. It does everything I require competently.
Good microwave, nice size, works well
Good microwave from a well known brand at a reasonable price. It is quick and effective. A good size and easy to clean inside. My only minor criticism would be the numbers on the dial can be quite difficult to read being small, white and on black.
Easy to use microwave. White 800 w digital.
This microwave is easy to use. Looks nice and sleek on the worktop.
So far, it cooks food evenly and is easy to clean.
Has a glass plate that sits on the turntable.
Will hold a small/ medium dinner plate.
Looks amazing, very pleased with the aesthetics and the interior is super easy to clean. Have not had any issues so far, definitely outperforms our old unit when it comes to preparing popcorn (a common issue with some models). The microwave is extremely intuitive and easy to use with a variety of preprogrammed timer/settings. The countdown timer is also quite futuristic, indicating time frame intervals. In conclusion I’d say it’s a solid contender for this price range.
Bought this for my elderly mum ( 94 ) She had problems reading the screen and hitting the correct buttons on her old microwave.
With the twist dials on the Toshiba it is so much easier for her to use.
leave the heat setting in one position and twist the timer to the desired time wait 2-5 mins depending what’s cooking or re-heating and its job done. 800w cooks faster than the 700w so pleased we opted for the 20l x 800w
Nice size and quite weighty so it won’t slide over the worktop when the door is opened. very quiet in use, Nice finish on the paintwork, good value for money. Will highly recommend.
So the last microwave we’d had for years. I’m not sure we ever really cleaned it properly as it dawned on me it was utterly revolting and beyond saving. So, that went in the bin. Didn’t want to spend a fortune, don’t think you should have to for such a cooking tool
Turns out you don’t. This wasn’t the cheapest but was well down there. It’s so far so good. Heats stuff. On time. So that’s good.
It’s pretty light weight so I got in unpacked and up on a shelf in the garage pretty easily. It seems to work well. Timer is fine, heat level.is fine, and not overly noisy. The light inside with the door shut is dim so you can’t really see what’s going on in there, but it’s pretty obvious it’s getting warm; or hot depending what you chose. I have no complaints so far. You can gwt enough in there so good capacity. I mean who wants to put a whole chiken in there, if you do, don’t bother with this one it’s not that big. It sits nice on the side and ain’t gonna wobble. Makes a sweet ping when it’s done. Yep, so, all in all, good value, works well, looks fine. Decent overall pop de ping.
UPDATE: really happy after a few weeks of use of this. The controls work perfectly well, the ping at the end is pretty loud. I’m liking it.
I use both microwave and baking options on daily basis. I like the display, but have found the instructions poor and machine not very intuitive to use. I have found that it does cook well and fast due to the combination options. It also quieter than our older Sharp microware. Once you know how it is easy to use!
