Cute little bath hippo toy only small but good size for a child’s hand.
The button on it’s back flashes. Talks, plays music and when it kick it’s feet goes like the clappers but it really doesn’t move very far or quickly considering the feet go mad
So far it’s fine and working in the water however I’m unsure how the insides will last hopefully doesn’t hold water inside that could go mouldy but that’s something we will find out in time.
my grandaughter loves this little hippo. it has lots of little musical songs and phrases when you press the star button. the best bit is when its little legs start kicking and it swims around. floats really well in the bath water and is very solid.
Ordered the VTech Sing and Paddle Hippo (currently priced at 17.99) for my little one, and it’s been a delightful addition to bath time. This cute blue hippo swims around when it hits the water, thanks to a clever water sensor. The interactive light-up star button is super easy for tiny hands to press, and it kicks off a series of fun phrases and songs.
The hippo’s feet do a little flutter kick, which looks adorable. My baby loves watching it paddle around the tub, and it’s a great way to keep him entertained while I get him cleaned up. The 12 melodies and 3 sing-along songs are catchy and cheerful, making bath time a bit of a mini concert.
What’s also nice is the educational aspect. The hippo shares fun facts about swimming and other hippo-related tidbits, fostering a bit of curiosity and learning even during play. The sound quality is pretty good, and the volume isn’t too loud to be annoying which is rare for this type of toy!
The toy seems well-made and durable, as you’d expect from VTech. It’s been dunked, splashed, and tossed around without any issues so far. The only minor downside is that it’s a bit tricky to dry out completely, so I make sure to shake out as much water as possible after each use to prevent mould.

I got this for my 2 year old to bring to the swimming pool on holiday as she absolutely hates the water and we have tried every kind of toy to get her in without a tantrum. This little hippo has been amazing, and completely captured her interest enough to get her into the water, she was so excited to see him kick his legs and swim. The star button on top is bright and easy to press and the music and sounds are positive and uplifting.
We’ve had lots of bath toys but nothing with this level of interaction and capability to distract. Definitely a great addition to bathtime, particularly for reluctant babies.

Cute design, and it’s a nice and chunky size.
I got this for my 1 year old, and he thought it was fascinating, especially the legs when they kick!
Very easy to use, there’s a small on/off button, and then just the one big star button to press, to get some little songs and phrases. (see my video)
It does come with batteries, but these are for demo purposes only, so it’s best to swap these out for new ones.
After a while my little boy did get a bit tired of it, and moved onto his other bath toys, which he can shake/champ on, so that’s the reason for my 4/5 stars.
Overall though, another great quality product from VTech, and would make a great gift.
I have not seen so much excitement from the little in a long time!
Unlike previous bath toys, this hippo engages with the water, detects its presence and waddles and flaps whsilt singing melodies and lighting up. Bath times have changed, they’re no longer quick, with overtired tears, They’re full of excitement, bouts of laughter and sheer exuberance.
The cute hippo says 45 sounds and phrases and teaches about hippo related facts, numbers and sings catchy songs.

This is just what you expect from a VTech toy, well made, top quality materials and fit for purpose.
It’s super cute, works in water and sings, counts, talks and chats.
It’s really easy to use, so perfect for little hands to use independently and it’s fun too so they want to play with it.

Whilst I’m very pleased with this fabulous VTech singing and swimming hippo, I’m a little disappointed that the item title misled me about suitable ages.
The item title is “VTech Sing and Paddle Hippo, Swimming Hippo Bath Toy, Interactive Light-up Button with Phrases and Songs, Gift for Babies 3, 6, 12, 18 Months Plus, English Version” so imagine my disappointment when the product arrives and it states “12-36 months” on the front of the box.
Other than that small gripe, it’s an absolutely fantastic toy that is cute, fun and educational. It’s well worth 17.99 (at the time of review) although the batteries will have run down by the time the baby is old enough to play with it.
This adorable bathtime hippo is stimulating and engaging and my grandson loves him. The friendly hippo encourages him to play and interact and he really loves bath time since he arrived.
The hippo senses when he’s in water and the fun begins!
He paddles through the water and has lots of melodies, lights and sing a longs in his repertoire, along with phrases and sounds and things to learn.
He is perfectly sized for smaller hands and lovely bath time buddy which makes the routine fun and enjoyable.
The hippo is a lovely interactive character and my grandson loves him and their play time in the bath.
I’d recommend trying him out.
