Absolutely brilliant air con uni
We are so so happy we bought this! Weather in the UK has been boiling recently and our bedroom is in a loft conversion so gets really warm – this has done the job and then some! Not sure how we would cope without it now. The price was decent, love that it comes with a remote control and cools down the room quickly. It’s a bit noisier than a fan but as to be expected and the benefits massively outweigh this. Plus we find the background noise quite soothing! If I had to pick a downside, it would be that the window kit doesn’t fit normal windows, only sliding ones. Also the night mode doesn’t switch the lights off when it’s on fan only.
Great and not too loud
This arrived very quickly.
I have been using this for a few weeks. I use it in a large room at highest level. If makes some noise but not enough to be distributing. It cold the room significantly during the Uk heatwave.
Easy to assemble and install.
Excellent portable air co
This portable air con unit is excellent! We bought it for attic room that gets quite hot during summer. We bought sky windows adapters (we couldn’t use the window adapter it comes with) and it works great. The noise level is like having a fan on full (our son does not complain of sleep quality). During night time we have it on low noise level and before that leave it on high power, which is still ok, but would be too loud to sleep with. Device has vents that can be in fan mode, which is great because cool air is distributed easier rather than blown only one direction.
First time we used it the room went from 29 degrees to comfy 20degrees in about 3 hours. And it kept the room at 19degrees all night long. It does have sensors therefore switches itself off when it reaches the required temperature.
It is versatile too: has dehumidifier mode, which we have not used yet and we do have dehumidifier anyway. But very handy if one does not 🙂
It isn’t heavy to move around due to wheels, but needed two people to get it up the attic as it is over 20kg.
We are considering buying another one for different room if we get more of heat waves.
Seems ok so far.
I have not yet had chance to try it out when this room gets like an oven as the heatwave went the day before the air conditioner arrived yet it has cooled the room a to a degree. How effective it will be later, I wait in anticipation.
The air conditioner was easy to set up as it’s pretty much plug in and go from unpacking. The only part that requires a bit of assembly is connecting the hose to the back of the machine. I have not installed the window kit as I close my window at night so it would be a problem removing and installing this daily.
I did note that it is louder than my current floor fan but not enough to become annoying. The various controls give many options which is handy. Due to having multiple computers in this room, I will not be using the dehumidifier option but just the fan and cooler.
I dropped this down by one star as the hose had a few splits in it which was disappointing yet they are not bad enough to consider replacing it with a new hose yet. Also it seems reasonable on the electric using around 10-15 kw per hour on the low air cooler setting.
So far I would recommend this. An update may follow later when the heatwave returns.
Excellent with one minor flaw; NB condensation drainage!
I already own an old B&Q unit still going after 15yrs, but my mother is now 82 and is suffering breathing difficulties. She was aware we used one and was very worried she would struggle for breath in a prolonged British hot spell so we got her this. It’s perfect for her needs, at 9000 BTU in her modest bungalow it is fine. It’s also just about small enough for her to move from lounge to bedroom along her wooden bungalow hall at night. I’ve told her to just trail the vent hose into the hall for heat exhaust, the window kit is impractical. My only real gripe, and our old B&Q unit is exactly the same, is there is a drainage hole at the base to allow condensation to drain. This sits literally one inch above the carpet ie the height of the castor wheels and so it’s virtually impossible to place a suitable dish underneath to collect the water. I solved it on my home one by building a secondary wooden base with higher castor wheels so we can get a tub underneath and I made one for mother to do similar. Other than that, I recommend but be prepared to fiddle about resolving the condensation drainage
I bought this at the beginning of April, and it’s sat in the box until this weekend, because the weather in England, is crap.
That being said, I bought it to replace one that was leaking and making up way to much noise, anyway after searching for a long time it came down to a few on Amazon and one on eBay, but this one had the best description for my needs, it’s small and not to heavy, it has louver’s that move up and down automatically, or can be turned off, but I find this cools the room a lot quicker, it has a timer, so you can set it to turn off if you fall asleep.
The window kit doesn’t work for windows that open or in or out, but they work for sash windows and sliding windows and doors, but I can’t hold that against the unit.
You can pickup window kits, for windows that open in and out and Amazon they roughly 10- 20.
Back to the unit, it’s not quiet but it’s not noisy either, after 10 minutes it blends in and you can have a conversation and hear the TV without increasing the volume to much.
Time will tell about the build quality, but as far as looks go, it’s not bad, it cools a hot room, it has a remote that does everything the main unit does, which is a big plus, so this was money well spent, and I highly recommend it for the hot days which may come, you won’t be disappointed!
Ps it’s very easy to use, the main thing is to make sure there’s space around the unit 500mm all round so the unit can breathe and it won’t over heat and leak, as in picture and your good to go.
This little air conditioner is like a Swiss army knife for your hot weather woes! It can cool down a room it says of 300 Sq. Ft, however, I cannot test this as my rooms are much smaller, but it did bring the room temperature really quickly and felt it would be effective in a much larger space. In my space it will be perfect on a really hot day, it takes out the moisture from the air if it’s feeling muggy and just circulates air like a regular fan would do on milder days. Plus, it has two fan speeds, so you can adjust the breeze without getting up using the remote. Great that it comes with a window kit, so you know it fits. It makes some noise but does not feel like it takes over the room or my space. If you want something to cool you down on those sticky summer nights, that I can’t wait to come, this unit is pretty neat. It’s easy to use with a remote and digital display, and it even has a special sleep mode that keeps things cool but quiet while you snooze. On the wallet side of things, it’s supposed to be energy efficient too, which is always a bonus and is on offer currently which is a great time to buy. Overall, this AC is a good option for my spaces, and I can’t wait to take full advantage in the summer.
Ordered this to beat the summer rush as started working from home last year and the only place was our conservatory with its glass roof that turns into a greenhouse.
Really impressed with this unit, it’s a great piece of kit well made and came well packed. Has a remote control and good instructions.
The low speed fan is very quite and kicks out a good amount of cold air and with the sun out yesterday and my room beginning to warm up I tried it and was very impressed how quickly it made a noticeable difference. Remote control has all the functions you needed on it. Doubles up as a dehumidifier and / or a fan. As I said it’s a a great bit of kit that’s not light showing how well made it is. Its in wheels to make it easy to roll from room to room.
Can’t wait for the difference this is going to make to a comfortable summer working from home. Great buy.
