Sonic Fans
As an adult lego builder, I finally got time alone to put this together and was not disappointed. The Dr Egg’s drillster machine looks fab built and having the shadow sonic figure is awesome.
As you’d expect from a LEGO product, the manual and build process is top notch quality, and both the LEGO bricks and the additional elements again, are quality as you’d expect.
With the up coming movie, for anyone who is a fan sonic, it’s perfect tie in. Sit back, melt away to joyful bliss building and watching the movie.

Here comes the Eggman!
I absolutely love this set and with a son who’s recently discovered Sonic, there’s 2 fans in our house!
This set is oriented around the villain Eggman and Lego have been very faithful in this set. The main part of the set is Eggman’s drillster vehicle. The vehicle looks amazing once assembled with huge rugged tires and a slight lean towards the front. As you move the car, the drill at the front rotates, but in a very clever way as the black part counter rotates against the yellow drill piece. It looks really good when moving. Eggman sits in the middle in a detachable hover pod. This pod is finished really well and has 2 ‘egg’ missiles which can be launched by pushing them. The drillster is the biggest part of the set. The detail on the vehicle is great, such as the lights, exhausts and hood of the drillster.
The Eggman figure looks really good too. His head does not rotate and this is perfect as he looks very much like an egg with legs.
The next big playpiece is the lab. This has a cute detailed desk with a rotating chair and the main feature: a breakable wall. It’s not clear who the lab is designed for as the egg details would suggest Eggman, but the photo on the computer would suggest Shadow. The colour scheme fits both characters well. There’s lots of lab details on the shelf next to the desk, but the only real playability is with the collapsing wall. The collapsing wall is just 4 pillars on single stud plates. I wish this was constructed differently and made to break with more brick detail rather than just columns.
And the final part of this set is the speed sphere and speed sphere launcher. This is essentially a round yellow spherical disc which can be opened to put a Sonic figure in it. It simulates Sonic when he’s running at speed. The launcher works well and can send the sphere pretty far and with enough force to break through the lab wall or to knock Eggman’s pod out of his drillster!
In terms of figures, as well as Eggman and Shadow, we get a yellow Super Sonic (who looks amazing) and there’s a Egg Pawn robot figure with a hidden chicken inside that controls it! It doesn’t have too much mobility, but enough to stand in different positions due to it’s large flat feet. There’s also the gunwing drone robot which has a crate on the back with small rabbit figure in it. It’s a cute figure and the drone itself looks good.
At it’s current price of 59.95, I think this offers really good value and will be well received by any Sonic fan. There’s so much playability here; the drillster with it’s detachable pod, the lab, the sphere and all the characters and robots. It’s well designed for lots of interactive adventures. I’m very impressed with this and my 7yo son was able to piece this together without any difficulty despite some of the more technic oriented pieces controlling the drill mechanism. A great set overall which looks fantastic too!

Really Fun LEGO set to build
This is a fantastic LEGO Set for any fan of Sonic the Hedgehog bit it from the Video Games, Animated TV shows or the big screen movies. With the release of the new trailer for Sonic The Hedgehog 3, this set also includes Shadow who will be voiced by Keanu Reeves in the film. This playset features a number of iconic mini figures from Super Sonic to Shadow with interactive pieces with the Dr Robotnik Egg Drillster vehicle the main piece which itself is made of two vehicles put together adding to the fun. The build is simple and straight forward, perfect for experienced and younger LEGO Fans. The pictorial instructions are easy to follow and the result is a fun playset for any fan. Just really fun to make which all LEGO should be.
Fantastic Lego engineering in this Sonic set, challenging build with lots of small parts
This 590-piece Lego set builds 5 distinct models which form a story with Dr Eggman the villain, Sonic the hero, Shadow the hedgehog controlling stuff in a lab, complete with a wall that is satisfyingly easy to knock down, a Gun Wing robot which houses a kidnapped bunny rabbit, and an Egg Pawn robot powered by a captured Pecky the penguin. Star of the show is the amazing Egg Drillster, driven by Dr Eggman, which features a clever geared design with a drill rotating one way and a surround rotating the other, powered by the chunky wheels.
It’s a fun build though with lots of very small parts each of which has to be in precisely the right place for the set to work as designed, so quite challenging. You know you are building something amazing and it is great to see it gradually take shape. Many of the pieces are quite specialized though which limits its appeal as a collection of bricks from which you could make anything; keep it as a set and guard the instructions!
There is plenty of play value; Dr Eggman’s seat in the Egg Drillster lifts off so he can fly and fire egg missiles. Sonic’s launcher is less visually impressive but actually works well, press the launch button and Sonic shoots across the room. The Shadow minifig is well done and he is on a rotating seat enabling him to see all his screens in the lab. Plenty of scope for enacting various stories.
Impressive engineering, and impressive too that all the parts in my set were present and correct, in Lego’s eco-friendly packaging which is mostly but not completely paper rather than plastic.
Good for a fan of both Sonic and Lego but keep away from very small children because of tiny parts, and suited to a careful builder, build it slightly wrong and it will be useless.

This is a big set with lots of Sonic characters and familiar scenes and objects from the video game .
Plenty of interactive game play ,role playing ,imaginative new stories and scenes can be created.
The build takes a little time but straightforward with standard clear Lego instructions – 3D with the Lego builder app. Lots of fine detail especially the Egg Drillster vehicle.
7 characters to play with including of course Super Sonic and Shadow but also the cute little Pocky and Pecky.
This is a big set with hours of play on its own with speed sphere launcher , breaking walls etc but of course can be added to with other sets in this Sonic range to create bigger adventures.
Great quality and attention to details as ever from LEGO , a fab set for any LEGO and/or Sonic fan .
Sonic is supe
Many people will know Sonic from the video games and now Lego have created a series of sets that engage a new generation. This set is aimed at 8 years plus, but 6 year olds can build with a bit of help. The build is straightforward and fun to do. You get a few characters to play with – Super Sonic, Shadow, Dr Eggman, Egg Pawn and Gun Wing, as well as the Egg Drillster vehicle and speed sphere launcher. Build the laboratory and wall and have Dr Eggman knock it down with the Egg Driller using its rotating drill or use the sphere launcher. Will SuperSonic be able to save the day?
Kids love building and then playing with this set – it’s highly interactive and there is a lot to do. It’s also part of a series of Sonic builds so you can add further sets as you want, but it’s also good as standalone set. Kids don’t need to be familiar with Sonic to enjoy this set. I think it has been well designed and it has already provided hours of fun.
Massive Sonic Fa
This set is a brilliant set, that I think would appeal even if you’re not a Sonic fan. The modular nature of these sets lend themselves to collectors of Sonic previous builds, and this has a Shadow minifigure as well as a Doctor Robotnik.
The build is fun with multiple sections and a Dr Robotnik vehicle, which keeps the build process light and fun. As always, instructions are super easy to follow, making this suitable for young children and adults alike.
It’s all very playable, and as mentioned above,can be used as a modular set to build your own Green Hills to play out your favourite platformer.
Well Rounded Se
This Sonic the Hedgehog set with the Egg Drillster is so cool. It features Sonic (in black for some reason?), Tails, and Dr Robotnik with a Drill-Vehicle. There’s also a smash-launcher for Tails too for the combat element, as well as supporting villains and set pieces (including a breakable wall for the Drillster to smash through).
It’s a nicely rounded set that can be used to imagine a variety of scenarios as a standalone set (i.e. without needing supporting sets to fill it out).
