I've become a fan of this laptop
Here’s my experience with this beauty called A16 Advantage Edition after using it for 10 days, about 5-6 hours a day:
This laptop is elegant, well-built, budget-friendly, and powerful, excellent for both gaming and productivity. Before buying it, I did a lot of research, watching reviews and videos, because I wanted a powerful machine for gaming but also with good battery life. Since I invested 950 (I bought it from Italy), I wanted to be able to take it to a park or coffee shop without worrying about the battery running out.
I ended up getting exactly what I wanted, or even better. Here’s my experience so far:
–Noise level: I was initially concerned because my headphones don’t have noise cancellation, but even in performance mode (using G-Helper), the fans only reach around 4000-4500 RPM, I barely notice them.
–Temps: At first, the CPU was hitting 95C during gaming in performance mode, but after getting a 9 laptop stand, it dropped to 85C, and the fan noise went down as well. I highly recommend a stand.
–Battery life: I limit charging to 70% in G-Helper since I usually use it plugged in. With this setup—CPU on silent mode, GPU on iGPU, and the display at 60Hz—I get about 6-7 hours of battery life while web browsing or watching videos at 75% brightness.
–Display: The screen is fantastic, with a 165Hz refresh rate and a MUX switch for direct GPU access, reducing latency. It’s also 16:10, so it feels bigger and looks great.
But it’s true that the max brightness might not be good enough if you go outside on a sunny day (I fixed this by increasing the brightness in the AMD adrenalin software momentarily)
–Keyboard/Touchpad: The only thing I don’t love is the keyboard; I wish the keys had a bit more travel, but it’s still fine. The touchpad is smooth and works perfectly.
I did upgrade to 32gb ram and got an intel wireless card ax210 since in my opinion has better speeds than the one installed and bluetooth 5.3.
I’m in love with this beast and it’s design not gamery is the best.
Great laptop for the cheap price
Was looking for a new gaming laptop for a while and this is perfect. Plays any game I’ve tried at max/high settings and runs them fine. The fans do kick in to keep it cool but when just browsing it’s nice a quiet. Easy to use and doesn’t weigh too much to carry. Nice quality screen and a good size for gaming.
When I got this laptop, I was so excited. It is not very heavy so it’s convenient to bring it for studying or working. For the game performance, it makes me feel comfortable and confident. FPS is stable between 100 and 200 and the experience is great.
The keyboard lighting is customisable, very comfortable and beginner friendly. FPS exceed the standards I have had in mind. The laptop itself is very lightweight and the screen quality is excellent. Functionable for any game, noise level is high, in a good way. Definitely recommend!
Until it literally fell apart I was jolly content with it.
Although it’s a tad noisy it met the spec as I would expect.
HOWEVER. After opening and closing the lid less than 5 times, the right-hand hinge point prised itself apart. A swift glance underneath showed that two screw/bolt fasteners were missing.
I’ve asked Amazon to take it back for repair – probably a 3 minute job. But NO! They want it back for a refund.
No doubt that when they get it back I’ll have the usual hassle about their voluntary 30 day return policy and the the reality of a good failing within a reasonable period of time. The latter is the law, the former is a nice thing to offer a customer – 2 weeks more than the 14 days required by law.
buy if low budge
1080p but can run most games on high, some on max, at stable 60. 16″.screen too, color quality is more than enough, and amd software has a vivid color option i’d recommend using. As with most low budget products the camera and built in speakers and mic are below avg, but i would never use those anyways. Build quality is sturdy. Like all laptops under 3000$ u need to keep it plugged in when playing any game, or ur battery reaches 5% in just over 1hr. Enough battery life when not playing and not plugged in
Download g helper from github, remove armory crate. that built in software is the source of bugs when not updated, and still gives a worse ux when updated.
I chose used very good for -50$ and couldnt find the 1/2 inch scratch.. No battery issues, it was new.. Must have been returned bc armory crate caused bugs lmao, amazon warehouse used was worth it this time
If ur budget is low, and u dont have 1500$ for zephyrus then buy this, it’s 66% the price
As the main headline says, this laptop will not disappoint you if you want to play any available game.
I have tried most of the latest and demanding games and all of them run really smoothly with all the graphic settings maxed out. I recommend setting the games to ”balanced” for DLSS as that will look 90-95% identical to the ”visual” option and it will offer much more frames. Generally, the components that this laptop has are doing a pretty good job giving the fact that the RTX4070 is not as strong as the desktop version. For a budget gaming laptop, you can’t ask for more.
Apart of the performance, I really have to praise the screen which is really crisp with vibrant colours. The QHD resolution (with 165Hz too) really makes a big difference and you will notice that in games.
The only negative aspect I have for this laptop is related to the audio quality which is still a mere average I would say. The quality has improved a bit from the previous versions of TUF laptops but not by far. And generally what I refer to is about the loudness of the speakers which was a main issue in the past. I recommend to not enable spatial sound so you can have the best experience.
For those interested in the build quality, in my opinion it looks the same as the previous versions of TUF. For sure do not expect the same build quality you have on a ROG Zephyrus but overall it feels pretty sturdy.
The ASUS TUF Gaming FX507ZC4 15.6″ Full HD 144Hz Gaming Laptop is a solid choice for gamers looking for performance and reliability. The combination of an Intel i5-12500H processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card delivers smooth gameplay and fast rendering speeds, ensuring an enjoyable gaming experience.
The 15.6″ Full HD display with a 144Hz refresh rate provides crisp visuals and smooth motion, enhancing gaming immersion. Additionally, the 512GB PCIe SSD offers ample storage space for games and other media files, allowing for quick load times and smooth system performance.
One downside is the 8GB RAM, which may feel somewhat limiting for multitasking or running memory-intensive applications. However, this can be upgraded if needed to accommodate more demanding tasks.
Overall, the ASUS TUF Gaming FX507ZC4 offers great value for its price point, providing reliable performance and impressive gaming capabilities. It’s a solid choice for gamers on a budget who still want a powerful gaming laptop.
I went for the FX707VI (Intel i7 13620H – NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070) model as I considered the spec good value for the price and it will run almost all demanding games just fine, but you should know that it comes with some compromises.
Understand that the screen had to be sacrificed to have the lower price tag. It’s a 144hz 1080p LCD with dull contrast and mediocre brightness. You’ll struggle to see it in direct sunshine and will get reduced viewing angles. Don’t consider using this for professional graphic applications as the colours aren’t correct, but they are acceptable for gaming. If you are docking to an external monitor then you don’t have to worry about it. An OLED display would add many hundreds to the price so I feel it’s a fair compromise.
The internal speakers are just terrible and mine has an issue with the right speaker resonating at certain frequencies and some voice pitches in videos, causing an annoying rattle. I fixed it with an EQ tweak to drop that frequency a bit, so fair warning if this happens to you. Chances are as a gamer like me you’ll be wearing a decent set of headphones and this has a 3.5mm headphone jack for latency free audio if you don’t like Bluetooth.
The keyboard is as you would expect for a laptop and has RGB backlights you can customise to each app or game.
The webcam is mediocre at 720p so won’t be great for use as a face cam while live streaming your game.
All ports are at the sides and none at the rear which will cause cable clutter. Left handed users will be especially annoyed that all except one port is on the left side where their mouse will go.
The laptop gets incredibly noisy and warm when gaming on the default settings, but you can tweak this with the fan profile function button or in the Armoury Crate software. Experienced users will want to tweak voltages down to drop the thermals.
Unfortunately there are some vents on the bottom so placing the laptop on a soft surface (duvet, blanket etc) isn’t a good idea, but easily mitigated with a food or bed tray.
Battery life is okay when doing light tasks and you can expect around six hours if you tweak the settings, but for gaming; 2 maybe 3 hours with a few tweaks tops depending on your settings.
This laptop does have upgrade options when your warranty runs out and it starts struggling with newer and larger games. It allows up to 64gb of ram by using 2x 32gb DDR5-5600 SODIMMs and the SSD hard drive is upgradeable too. They are not soldered to the motherboard like some laptop models and a competent person can do the upgrade with small Philips head screwdrivers. No obscure security screws to worry about.
In summary this laptop is good for the price, but as it’s large and heavy and has a few drawbacks you should be aware of that will need some tweaks to get the most out of it. It’s more suited to being moved to different desks around the house rather than being a portable gaming system away from a power socket for long periods.
With all that said though, it does suit my needs and budget and I knew the drawbacks before making my purchase, so I am happy with it.
