RSPB – Wild Bird Food for Small Birds, High Energy Food

Over the years I’ve been forced to accept that our local sparrows are a pretty spoilt bunch. Try to palm them off with sub-standard bird food and they’re notably absent, presumably living it large at a neighbour’s bird feeder where they’re being served the sparrow equivalent of cordon bleu haute cuisine.

I am therefore happy to report that this food seems at least good enough to compete with what I can only assume is some fairly stiff competition.

Since I can’t watch them every hour of the day, there are two reliable measures of this: The first is how often I have to fill up the feeder – which is currently daily, and the other is the amount of time our exclusively indoor cats spend gibbering with frustration on the window sill, which is currently quite a lot – especially since I put up some of that vinyl mirror film so the birds can’t see them anymore. It’s quite entertaining just how annoyed an ignored cat can get.
