Versatile and very useful
I bought the Unitek External CD DVD Drive for a friend for whom I built a PC. She had forgotten to mention that she needed a CD / DVD drive so she could still access her CD / DVD collection but the case I had used for her build had no space for an internal drive.
I had initially purchased an external CD DVD Drive from another brand but the seller cancelled my order without explanation before fulfilling it. I then checked the reviews for alternative units and I came across this one. I checked the user reviews of the better ones and this one came highly recommended, besides having the added possibility to use its multiple USB ports as a USB hub and also include a SD card reader, which the initial unit didn’t have. I placed the order and my friend is very pleased with my purchase. Everything works flawlessly and it was really a plug-and-play experience. I therefore recommend the Unitek External CD DVD Drive.
I ended up returning this item because I couldn't get it to play. There were no instructions. After returning it and trying another one from HP, and having the same issue, I did some research. Even though the HP version said it was compatible with Windows 11, I learned that Windows 10 and 11 didn't pay for DVD rights or some such thing and these devices won't play with Windows media. You have to download a 3rd party application, which I did, and now the HP product works. This one might have worked with a 3rd party app, but I don't know, so I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt and giving it 4 stars.

With laptops no longer having cd-rom drives, this thing is awesome. Gives you more usb ports, USB type C for flash drives or charging your phones, and and SD card slot if your laptop does not have one.
