    You've made the dream Screen.
    – Review for Z-Edge 27 Inch Gaming Monitor 144Hz(DP) 2K QHD 1ms MPRT 2560×1440 IPS Panel 16:9 LED Monitor, 350cd/m Brightness, FreeSync HDR10, DisplayPort1.4 & HDMI2.0, Support VESA 100x100mm || Price: 179.99 (at time of ordering) –

Nice nice screen, wow, really impressive. I didn’t really how average my previous one actually was! This is not only larger, but so much easier on my eyes. The picture quality is crisp and vibrant, excellent colour and quality. I like the design as well, simple and stylish. Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersVery hapy with this - very sharp image, some unevenness in brightness.
Gaming usually simply means “we’ve stuck some RGB lights on it”, so I was curious about going for a ‘gaming’ monitor.

In the world of monitors gaming usually implies a faster screen refresh rate, and this screen comes in at 144Hz which, according to gaming sites, is reasonable.

However, I’m not a gamer (except for a bit of flight simming, but I don’t consider that a game), so what am I doing with a gaming monitor?

Well, I simply wanted to update an old 1080/FHD 27″ screen to 1440/QHD to match the other screen I have attached to my docking station. It was becoming a bit drustrating having windows resize every time I dragged from screen to screen.

I do A LOT of CAD work, and a lot of referencing spreadsheets for that CAD work.. so being able to drag things around and still see what I coudl see of the other screen is very important for productivity.

So, would a gaming monitor compromise on the things I actually need – sharpness, even colour and contrast?

I’m happy to say it loosk superb. The image is very sharp, and I was even able to pretty much colour match by eye with my 27″ Dell screen next to it. Not perfect, but certainly good enough.

The only thing I have noticed is that at some angles the corners of the screen seem a little brighter than the rest of the screen. Only at some angles, though, most of teh time its fine.

Oon the subject of angles, viewing angles are pretty good as well. Ignoring the alight brightening in the corners, the image remains vivid at any horizontal or vertical angle you are likely to use.

If you are a gamer, though, you’ll probably want to know about the RGB lights…

Well, they are there. On the back. Two of them. Out of the box they seem to fade through a constant colour cycle. There may be other modes that match what is on yoru screen or something for an ‘ambilight’ type of experience, but the only option I trued was ‘off’! I was only interested in the light coming out of the front, not the back 🙂

One final slight annoyance is the button controls and menu. These are on the right of the bottom egde of the screen and I found it annoyingly easy to either come out of a setting I was trying to set, or to end up in a different setting. The buttons are a little to close together for me meaning I couldn’t quite figure out which button I was about to press. It was a minor annoyance though, because once the screen is set up you’ll likely not need the bottons again.

Connectivity-wise you are well served with 2 x HDMI and 2 x DP.

What else do you need to know?

    – As well as a supplied stand it also has VESA100 mounting holes (though these are recessed and the onluy supplied ‘screws’ are actually stand-offs. They seem to work though as I have the screen mounted on a monitor arm).
    – The bezel is thin (about 4mm top and sides, 20mm bottom), black and, interestingly, level with the screen on the top and sides.

Build quality and look are very nice, and the price is certainly very good for such a high quality screen.
