Small footprint, Good selection of outputs, Short leads
Came across these DC UPS boxes while looking for something to power my comms boxes and phones ready to go totally VOIP. I had already purchased some bigger boxes for the main units and needed something smaller and cheaper for the additional boxes around the house.
The specs looked good and there was a quantity discount offer so I got a couple to try out.
They shipped from China and took about 3 weeks to arrive (in the UK).
In the box you get the UPS, a power lead, a DC lead, a DC Y lead, and some instructions. The power lead is 70cm long, the 2 DC leads are 28cm long. I ordered the British items and one UPS had a UK mains plug, and the other a European 2 pin plug. The UK plug didn’t appear to have a fuse.
The UPS itself is a compact 5cm x 5cm x 15cm. All the connectors are on one side and the on/off switch plus status LEDs on another side. There are no feet or wall mounting holes.
As well as the usual 15/24V POE, USB-A, 9V and 12V outputs, the UPS has a USB-C output and 5V DC output. All the DC outputs are 5.5/2.5mm connectors as are the supplied DC leads.
According to the supplied leaflet, the output ratings are:
USB-A 5V/2A
USB-C 5V/2A
DC 5V/2A
DC 9V/1A
DC 12V/1A
POE 15V/0.6A
POE 24V/0.4A
Max output 18W
There is an on/off switch and 5 LEDs. One LED is the status. green=on mains, red=on backup power. The other 4 LEDs are battery charge level (25, 50, 75 and 100%).
When the mains power drops, the UPS keeps supplying power without interruption. The status LED goes red and there are no warning beeps. When the power returns, the status LED goes green and the batteries get recharged.
I unplugged the mains lead and the UPS powered 2 TP Link hubs and a TP Link AC750 wifi access point (about 15W load) for 4 hours and the UPS still had the 25% LED lit.
I have had one running for few days and it hasn’t got hot or died.
So apart from the wrong mains leads and short DC leads, they are off to a good start. I aim to report back with updates.
