A worthwhile upgrade
A great mobile phone at a fantastic price I’ve been using Google Pixel 6a for several years and decided to treat myself to an upgrade to the 9a I’m certainly not disappointed
I have previously used Honor phones for the last 8 or so years and tend to be a creature of habit. However, I made the jump to Pixel and couldn’t be more happy. The battery life is longer than expected at my normal usage, it’s easy to operate and has an excellent camera. The biometrics work really well and the cost is reasonable. I would highly recommend this phone to anyone thinking of giving it a try.
Slow to charge but remains cool when charging with a wired charger. Heats up considerably when charged wirelessly but that applies to most phones so nothing new there and this is not a preference.Battery life between charges appears good too
Selfie camera only average.
The sound is particularly good for Spotify/Tidal music and far better than I have seen on other price comparable phones. WiFi/ 5g speeds show very little drop off compared to other phones we have at home,good connectivity and certainly no complaints on speed – Ookla speed test confirms also.
Rear camera exceptionally good bearing in mind there is no telephoto lens and quality only deteriorates when attempting to zoom out more than about 5 times.No photo lag either.
Reliability appears good from what I have learnt and experienced – advantage of a phone that has been around a year or so.Mine has now been updated to Android 17 with about 6 more years support promised.
Bought the 128gb version which is very adequate when accompanied by the optional Google photos backup.Phone has still only used 33 per cent of internal memory and I have a lot of Apps too.Best value version for sure and at currently just over 300, is a very good buy.
Great value, No regrets
Great phone! After i ordered i bas regret ting not getting one with a bigger battery, but the battery life is so good i never envy other phones batteries. Also a really nice AI feature that is quick and easy to use by holding on to the line at the bottom of the screen. I normally don’t like these kinds of feature but i find it really helpful for copying text in pictures and translation etc. And with the discount since the Pixel 10a came out, this phone is incredible value in my opinion, only thing i don’t like is the non-exbandable storage
I love this smartphone! It is a superb device that has replaced an older Android from another brand. What I particularly like is the Google commitment to 7 years of software updates, thus extending the likey time i will use this phone for. The AI Camera is rather good, I keep forgetting some of its functions but the image quality is outstanding. Audio and other capability is also very good indeed. Battery life is noteworthy, and it has full compatibility with all of the apps and devices I commonly use. Aspects such as durability remain to be seen. I have tried very hard to not drop it, but I don’t think that is a great idea for any smartphone unelss specifically ruggedised, which this is not! I use the Pixel 9a in a third party case with built in Magsafe ring which provides a decent grip in the hand as well as solid magmounting where used. I am really enjoying the use of the Pixel 9a over my previous Androids.

Pixel 9a primi giorni di utilizzo – premetto che vengo da Samsung serie S – utilizzo lavorativo quindi Internet Messaggistica Mail e poco Social:
Acquistato per la curiosit di testare l’ecosistema e il livello di integrazione Pixel con i servizi Google. Le ottime recensioni e il buon rapporto qualit/prezzo mi hanno convinto a sceglierlo. Si presenta bene per forma e materiali compatto e si tiene bene in mano: la parte telefonica valida, l’audio chiaro e ricco di funzioni per personalizzarlo.
Fluido nell’utilizzo veloce nella selezione dei comandi e delle applicazioni, intuitivo a sufficienza per il mio utilizzo. Menzione di merito per l’audio in vivavoce e durante la riproduzione dei media potente e limpido.
Batteria ottima, mi consente di arrivare a sera con residuo di carica del 20-30% (non velocissima con il cavo e in wrls).
La configurazione ha richiesto un po di attenzione per avere tutti i comandi che utilizzo a portata di mano, le opzioni sono tante, una volta terminato necessario adattarsi all’interfaccia Pixel diversa dal Samsung che usavo prima.
In sintesi Pixel come Samsung serie S e Iphone un apparecchio Premium come tale piacevole da usare da una certa soddisfazione.
I am not a mobile phone expert, but I have owned mobile phones since the 1990’s.
Sometimes, along the way, certain mobile phones have remained in my memory.
A few years ago, I happened upon the Pixel 4a. I grew to love the phone. Perfect size and importantly, being a Google phone, the same people who invented Android, the Pixel 4a was pure android. No fancy overlaid skins on the operating system. No manufacturer added stores. It was reliable and dependable.
But then the battery debacle came along and overnight, my Pixel 4a suddenly needed recharging multiple times per day.
I was gutted, but had no alternative than to buy a new phone.
At that time, my best choice was a mid range phone from a big name (beginning with S). It was okay, it was 250 and I could NOT afford the 500 for a pixel. So I made do with it. However, the overlays, the second “store”, the different layout of buttons and swipes was getting too much for me.
It worked fine, but it was NOT a Pixel.
In early January, this Pixel 9a was reduced from 500 to 349.
I couldn’t resist and I could afford.
No regrets. Using the Pixel 9a is like slipping on an old pair of slippers.
I am suspicious of the durability of the phone. Eligible for some 7 years of Android OS updates, but I’d be surprised if the battery lasts 3 years.
However, in 3 years, am I really not going to be getting itchy fingers for a new phone?
No regrets.

J’ai achet le 9a un prix imbattable ! Et mme si je n’exploite pas toutes ses capacits, je suis ravie de ce smartphone !
Fast, smooth, nice screen and main cameras, decent speakers and mic, good battery life. Biometrics are solid, I really like how good the face unlock is from Google here – comparable in speed and reliability to other brands that have great face unlock such as Xiaomi, oneplus etc. Sadly, doesn’t seem capable of working in very dark situations like the other brands though. No big issues with the optical fingerprint – another surprise here.
No problems with connection so far. Heard the modem was not a good offering from Google here, but I have had a good experience with it.
Gave 4 stars because I believe the pricing isn’t good for what you get, especially when you see what other phones are offering at the same price like Nothing, Samsung, Xiaomi, oneplus etc. At least make it 256gb storage for the base price. Wireless charging should be more like 15w minimum.
Selfie cam is still as bad as I remember from Google when not taking into account the amazing post processing that Google is known for. I would’ve thought that 13MP would make for a sharp and clear preview image or video performance, but no, it is quite blurry and smudged in anything that is not in really bright lighting. My much older and cheaper Xiaomi and Samsung devices have way better raw selfie performance than this Pixel 9A.
Overall, a solid phone, much improved over the last pixel that I tried which was the 6A. This is a phone that I can easily recommend, unlike the 6A.
