Ordered this having seen it shown on TV, absolutely impressive I went on a solo trip using this for my Hotel room it made me feel safe & secure where I could relax which is fantastic for a single female!
Brilliant product ,so easy to use, gives you a feeling of security second to none .would recommend it for lone travellers,in home too.
Inexpensive, for the peace of mind it gives you.
Seems to work fine, worth 25 for the peace of mind after a recent report of illegal entry into a woman’s hotel room. Tested on our wood floor, the emergency release works well too. However, the instruction booklet is wrong. It says turn to the left, ie anti-clockwise, to tighten & to the right, clockwise, to loosen when in fact you need to do the opposite, clockwise to tighten, anti-clockwise, to release.
So, for some doors this is useful. its a bit fiddly to set up at times and occasionally I’ve been nervous that it might damage the hinges (as depending on how the top of the door sits along with the rubber wedge at the top you sometimes have to hoist it up quite far before it is a tight fit and doing so lifts the door up). It doesn’t work for all doors – it won’t work if there is a draft excluder at the bottom, thick carpet, or if the top of the door is fitted further out from the frame. It has worked on more than half of doors I’ve tried it on and I’ll continue to take it on holiday with me. I don’t think it would stop someone breaking in but I feel like it would prove some resistance and happy that it would slow down and make enough noise pushing against it (plus a chair i usually put in front of the door) that I’d hear it.
I was concerned in an emergency it would be fiddly to remove but it’s been okay for me – but this might be an issue if you had mobility issues reaching to the ground or had impared finger dexterity. Similarly dexterity is needed in setting it up.
This is the third temporary (/hotel) door security I’ve tried and the best of the three types: one was one that fits over the lock on the side of the door before shutting it and this was pretty useless in the UK on the various doors I tried and I returned it. The other was a wedge that fit under the door and would in theory set off an alarm if the door opened and pressed into it – for most doors there either wasn’t enough room to fit it under OR it would just get pushed away and not trigger.
So this one is the one – the red product on this page – is the one I have kept and actually continued to take on trips.
Very easy to install and works on a large variety of door types. Latches do not matter with this. It’s very sturdy when installed and will provide resistance for intruders.
Packs away nicely into a suitcase or handbag.
This is a really great item, I bought it to take on breaks to travelodges which don’t have internal locks.
Used it last week and it works very well, very easy to fit, apart from having to bend down to fit it, not my favourite thing to do and can make me a little dizzy.
Not the product’s fault though.
Nicely packaged and good instructions provided.
Just turn the large plastic nut until you feel the door seem to “lift” just a little, I found on trying the door handle it was firmly locked.
I did not try the quick release so don’t know how well that works, I must remember to try it next time, but a few quick spins of the plastic nut quickly released it.
It feels sturdy and well made to me. I’m very pleased with my purchase.
Awesome little gadget.
This product is great and works exactly as it should. I have high gloss tiles and have no problem with it sliding along the tiles if someone is trying to open the door on the other side. It adheres well to my tiles and doesn’t move at all, thereby preventing entry by someone.
I have used this thing in my university dorms for over a year now. The other day my kid was woken up by knocking at 4am. Some how someone had managed to get the key card to our flat. I always make sure I have door jammer fixed to the bottom of the door every night. I slept through the event, but my kid told me in the morning this person starting knocking then saying “hello” then eventually started forcing the door for 10mins (my boy counted). The door jammer was the only thing that stopped this man’s entry. I am scared and reporting to police. But this door Jammer saved mine and my sons life last night.
Update: According to University security, it was a late night security guard who had got a call on a nearby flat. They must have mistakenly gone to ours I guess? This guy was still trying for 10mins and with significant force. Though obviously it prob would’nt have been in his interest to break down the door. The door is a fire door, so whether he could have done I don’t know.
THe door was unlocked (security guards have keys) so the door jammer was the only thing keeping him out, he probably assumed the door was stuck. But it must be pretty strong – saw they guy yesterday he was like 6 foot 3 prob and a normal kind muscle build – and he would’ve been putting all his weight on it. to the point where he gave up after 10mi
Genial. No me esperaba que funcionase tan bie
