How does Bullet-to-PTZ tracking work?
The fixed bullet camera detects motion and triggers the PTZ to rotate and zoom using AI tracking. If the bullet and PTZ angles differ, tracking handoff may be slower. For a faster response, point the PTZ toward your key area for quicker detection.

Does eufyCam S4 support 24/7 recording?
Yes, connect it to direct power (5V/2A adapter or higher) for 24/7 recording (requires camera version V1.0.5.4+). A microSD card or hard drive is required for storage (when connected to HomeBase 3, requires HomeBase version V3.7.2.8 or later).

Can it work standalone or with other Hombases / HomeKit?
It works as a standalone device (connected directly to your router) or with HomeBase S380 for more features.
HomeBase 2(Homebase S280) , Homebase mini, Homebase Professional, eufy NVR and Apple HomeKit are not currently supported.

So far a very good camera (Eufy S4)
One of the best Eufy cameras I’ve had so far, plus the detection and tracking is really good especially when it is hardwired, let’s hope it lasts and doesn’t get any hiccups with firmware updates!
Impressive
An impressive bit of kit how it auto zooming to anyone in the detection zone and sends a clear pic to you.
I’m not sure why it informs you about people outside the detection zone as yet though.
I’ve been invested in the Eufy ecosystem for years after leaving a brand that moved to a subscription model. I now run 11 Eufy security cameras across the property, and the S4 Solar Bullet PTZ is the first model that fully solved a long standing weakness in my driveway setup.
My previous Eufy SoloCam S340 camera struggled with head on movement because it only had a PIR sensor, which detects heat across the field of view, not towards it. On my sloped drive, that meant it often missed vehicles and people. It is not the camera’s fault; it is just the wrong camera for the capabilities required to monitor this part of my property.
The S4 Solar Bullet PTZ, with PIR and Radar fixes this issue, thanks to its dual sensor system:
PIR + Radar (the winning combination for me)
* PIR detects heat but struggles with straight on movement.
* Radar tracks speed, distance, and angle. therefore, perfect for cars or people approaching the camera.
* Works in rain, fog, snow, and darkness.
* Can detect through foliage and thin materials.
The snapshot above shows why the S4 is ideal for my driveway, and would also work well for entrances and approach paths
Image Quality – The S4 uses a dual lens system:
* Upper fixed bullet camera: 4K wide angle.
* Lower PTZ camera: 2K close range tracking and zoom.
Together they give you a wide coverage and detailed tracking, both cameras have a F/1.6 aperture, which helps in low light settings.
Setup & HomeBase
I run everything through the Eufy S380 HomeBase, which I strongly recommend. It adds AI features, local storage, and system wide enhancements. Adding the S4 in the app is simple, and the settings (zones, sensitivity, lighting, privacy areas) become intuitive quickly.
Power
The included 5.5 watt solar panel has been excellent. You can also hard wire the camera, and the removable 10,000 mAh battery is a welcome upgrade.
Software Note
At the time of review, Eufy is experiencing temporary API software issues, which appear to be affecting Alexa Plus discovery for newer cameras. This is widely reported and I have no doubt will be resolved. it doesn’t affect the S4’s performance, or the security blanket it offers me.
Verdict
The S4 has completely fixed my driveway detection problem. It’s reliable, intelligent, and a major upgrade for anyone needing accurate tracking of approaching vehicles or people. 5-Star product review.

Excellent Camera Works Perfectly With Homebase S380
The 10,000 mAh battery should work for quite a while, even without charging or a solar panel. The design is well thought-out, and the ability to focus on two separate areas with the S4 is amazing. The lower, movable cameras can track and zoom in on a moving object. You won’t even know that the AI tracking footage comes from the 2 lower cameras; the software makes the transition between the 2 cameras seamless.

Busqu cmaras que priorizaran la privacidad, donde los datos pudieran controlarse desde casa o subirse a una nube segura. Las cmaras Eufy parecan ofrecer lo que necesitbamos. La calidad de imagen es fantstica y la tecnologa de IA es muy buena; puedes agregar “personas conocidas” a tu sistema y recibirs una notificacin cuando alguien que conozcas entre en el campo de visin de las cmaras. La aplicacin es fcil de usar y las notificaciones funcionan en todos mis dispositivos: telfono, reloj, tableta, etc. En general, ha sido una excelente compra. Compr varias cmaras ms, como el timbre y otras cmaras exteriores. Para m, estas tienen mucha mejor calidad que las ltimas cmaras Ring que tena y que regal.
I originally had a problem with this camera where it would remain stuck in infrared night vision mode and would not automatically switch back to normal colour during the day, meaning I had to change the setting manually each morning and evening.
When trying to resolve the issue I contacted both Eufy support and Amazon, and initially it was a little frustrating being passed between support channels while it was worked out who was responsible.
Once this was clarified, the camera was replaced very quickly and the process was handled efficiently. The replacement unit works exactly as expected and now switches correctly between night vision and daytime colour.
The camera itself works very well and the video quality and performance have been excellent, which I’m very happy with.
My only small criticism is that the app could use a bit of improvement, as some settings feel a little scattered and can take a bit of time to find.
Overall, I’m pleased with the camera and with how quickly the replacement was arranged.
Honestly I love it, the auto zoom in feature is amazing. Picture quality is brilliant during the day and better than all the cameras I’ve had during the night.
The dual camera set up means I’ve got the whole street covered, and the movable camera tracks when the fixed camera detects someone.
Detection accuracy never misses anything either.
The solar panel charges the devices very speedily and while I’ve only had a few days with it I estimate the battery will last on solar panel.
Was easy to install and connect and while yes it is expensive, I think for what it does it’s worth it!

I’ve had several wireless cams over the years, but the eufyCam S4, especially paired with the HomeBase S380, is in a league of its own. If you’re serious about protecting your home without dealing with wires or monthly fees, stop looking—this is the one.
The Performance: No More Blind Spots
The triple-lens system is the star of the show. You get the 4K fixed wide-angle view for the big picture, and then the dual-lens Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) camera below it instantly locks onto and tracks any person or vehicle that crosses the fixed lens’s path. Seeing both views side-by-side in the app is just brilliant—it eliminates every single blind spot.
Clarity: The 4K footage is razor-sharp in the daytime. I can read number plates down the driveway without strain.
Night Vision: The colour night vision is outstanding. The built-in spotlights are bright enough to illuminate a large area, giving you clear, detailed footage rather than grainy black-and-white clips.
Solar Power: This is truly set-and-forget. The 5.5W solar panel is fantastic. Even on overcast days here in the UK, it keeps the battery topped up. I haven’t had to touch the removable battery since I installed it a month ago.
Installation:
Setting this up looks intimidating because of the size and features, but eufy has made the actual process very simple, provided you follow the right order.
Preparation is Key: Before you do anything else, plug the camera in and fully charge it (to 100%) using a USB-C adapter. It takes a an hour, but starting fully charged ensures the solar panel takes over smoothly.
HomeBase Setup (S380): Get the HomeBase connected first. Plug it into power and your router (Ethernet cable is easiest for the initial setup). Wait for the light to turn blue, then use the eufy app to add it. You’ll be prompted to press the SYNC button on the base to pair.
Camera Pairing: Now, add the S4 camera via the app. The app will walk you through a signal test right on your phone screen. Crucially, do this test at the exact spot you plan to mount it. Only proceed if the signal is rated “Great.” This prevents endless Wi-Fi headaches later!
Mounting: The kit comes with mounting hardware for the camera and the detachable solar panel. A huge tip is to mount the camera so it sees the area at an angle, not straight on. This gives the AI tracking more depth and ensures better motion detection. The adjustable bracket is flexible enough to handle almost any wall or eave position.
Placement Angle: As mentioned, avoid pointing the camera directly parallel to a wall or fence you want to monitor. An angled view (like 30 degrees to the monitoring zone) works best for the AI to pick up movement.
Continuous Power Option: If you absolutely need 24/7 continuous recording (beyond motion events), you have to connect the camera to a permanent 5V/2A power source and enable the “Direct power” mode in the app. Be aware that 24/7 recording also requires you to install an HDD/SSD in the HomeBase S380 for storage.
Maximise Solar: Don’t just attach the solar panel to the back of the camera. Use the detachable mounting option and place the panel where it gets the maximum direct sunlight, even if it’s a bit away from the camera. This guarantees perpetual power.
This camera delivers unparalleled security, and because it runs on local storage and solar power, it’s completely subscription-free. Highly, highly recommended!
After a spate of incidents around the neighborhood I decided to bolster the doorbell with some front and back drive cameras and so waited for the eufyCam S4 2-Cam Kit!
The dual camera setup works SO well!
Image quality is excellent! Sensitivity is accurate as is the tracking.
Each camera has a triple-lens bullet-PTZ hybrid design that captures ultra-sharp 4K video.
I bought a couple of brackets that fix around my drainpipes (so no driving for me!!). I’ve then attached the camera to bracket which made everything even easier to install!
Each camera also comes with a solar panel which after the initial charge has gone a great job of putting the power back to 100%
Everything feels like decent quality and like it has a dent chance of surfer quite some time!
Homebase that I have the two camera working together with the doorbell for great coordinated coverage.
Video Qualityis pretty decent with a 4K wide-angle at around 130 field of view, and pan and tilt camera that offers dual 2K resolution with 360 pan, auto-tracking and 8 hybrid zoom.
You can choose either colour or infrared night vision – both do a great job.
App has a lot of functionality/ options which can be fiddle. Easy enough to set up but a bit of work needed to optimize
Overall, very pleased and a massive boost to the feeling of security it gives
