Having had a Ring for a few years and getting fed up with constantly going off line and the terrible battery life, we thought we’d give these a go!
Absolutely brilliant bit of kit, set up was super easy, the camera is far superior to what we had, I was a little concerned about the local storage but it’s held in the Hub inside your home therefore if the bell is pinched you still have the footage.
Battery life is great, will buy a spare so, one in use one charged.
The App is super easy to use and integrated othe Tapo devices too.
All in all I cannot fault this video doorbell at all.
I purchased a D210 after recommendation. So glad I listened & we are very impressed with this doorbell!! Easy to install micro SD card(bought separately) and equally easy to mount the doorbell at the door surround with supplied fixings(screws or sticky pad) it looks very neat. The clarity of the very wide angle camera is amazing, even at night. Motion detection is very good. App for phone makes installation/use very easy. Has anti theft alarm. Two way conversation possible but allow for wifi lag. All in all, very satisfied with our purchase and it is of good quality & excellent value for money. Highly recommended
Good product, easy to set up and simple to use. There is some slight delay on receiving notifications to my phone, if I’m away from home they can sometimes come a significant amount of time after the movement was detected. Doesn’t seem to be an issue when the button on the doorbell is pressed however. Chime is nice and loud, and battery seems to last a decent amount of time once the sensitivity is dialed in. Good field of view and good image quality when viewing the feed.
Great doorbell, easy to set up and fit. Fabulous picture quality with a wide angle lens that seems to see round corners! No need to pay a subscription, just fit a memory card that works on a loop. Easy to download footage if required. The camera is very sensitive and picks up neighbourhood cats even when not on the pet setting! I really like Tapo products and have a couple of smart bulbs. The doorbell is the same excellent quality ag a great price.
Our first camera doorbell bought to integrate with existing Tapo cameras on the one App rather than complicate things with multiple apps/accounts/prompts by using different brands. Installation and set-up was fairly straightforward following the instructions and prompts in the App. I used the wedge to mount the doorbell on an angle for best visibility of our driveway and approach to our door. Clarity isn’t 4K but good enough for the job. Our set-up is integrated with Alexa so when someone rings the bell it activates the included plug-in chime in the hall and we also get a voice prompt via Alexa devices to tell us someone is at the door – a superb function. Battery life initially dropped around 4 percent a day over the first couple of days but that was most likely down to me tweaking the settings; since then it’s held power very well and I probably won’t be looking to recharge the battery until around 4 months of use (I won’t let it drop too low to see exactly how long it lasts). As for interacting with visitors via the speaker, I’ve tested that function from the comfort of my living room and it works fine – it’ll be interesting to see how that works when I’m out and about especially with delivery drivers who seem to ring, drop and go these days because of time pressures. Overall, a very good video doorbell with great features to integrate with Alexa and to use with the Tapo App.
Tapo D210 wireless doorbell camera
I have always liked Tapo items, I have 4 of their cameras, smart plugs and other items, they are all extremely good
This smart doorbell is no exception, it is well built and sturdy and also looks good on the door
I live in a very rural area in the Highlands of Scotland, so there aren’t many street lights, it’s pretty dark in winter
The quality of the camera on this doorbell is very good, in fact, during daylight it is exceptional quality
Night is not as good on auto, which changes to black and white video. You can manually turn to daylight mode and the quality is better and in colour (as you can see in the photos) but this will use battery much faster
The battery life on the camera is pretty good, I have it on full detection mode and in almost 2 weeks it has only used 18% battery, and I do have a lot of trackers and farm vehicles going past
Set up was very easy and only took 15 minutes, and that included the update for the firmware
Once fitted to your door you can play around with all the settings to get the camera working within the area you want
I highly recommend this doorbell
The video is in daylight. First photo is at night on daylight full colour setting and 2nd photo is auto mode (night time) like I said, you can have the camera on day setting all the time. But the battery will run down faster
Also, if you have a street light near your door, the night time video will be better quality
Oh, and it works with Alexa
I hope this helps people 🙂
> Image quality is very good, including night vision. 2k is quite crisp.
> Remote ring chime connects no problem and works well at a distance.
> Remote storage to a Tapo hub integrates well if you have one, and the doorbell video doesn’t take much storage space.
> The phone notification is quite quick (not laggy) and allows 2 way conversation plus had good preset responses. I particularly like the ‘You’re trespassing, the police have been notified’ response for when the in-laws come around.
> Battery life. If set to record only on ring, it’s great. As my house has a short front garden, the motion detection option was a drain at first – however, I found I could reduce the IR detection range, combined with using specific detection zones (where you decide which areas to monitor) – at which point battery use was much better.
> The Tapo app allows you to specify what type of motion you want to record – so I set it to people rather than everything, which works very well.
> Installation and setup were fairly painless.
Great value for money and a well made product. Would recommend.
