    Really good
Highly recommended. Can’t be damaged from outside as it attaches to the inside of the window. No power outage as it’s plug powered. No battery worries and absolute great resolution at a good price. Lots of settings to suit your needs. Set the siren if your out, also zone what area you require the monitoring. No subscription. Down side the memory card doesnt stay in so had to cloud subscribe for reviewing. 27 per year. I have another one now. I will let you know if that’s at play on that as well to get a subscription out of you.

    Effortless DIY home monitoring
I’ve tried this window camera to keep an eye on the front drive and it is a clever bit of gear for anyone who doesn’t want to start drilling holes in their brickwork. The build quality feels decent enough for an indoor unit and the way it sticks directly to the glass means you don’t get that annoying glare from the infra red lights reflecting back at you at night. The finish is neat and it sits quite discreetly on the pane without looking like a massive eyesore from the street.

The functionality is where it really earns its keep because the picture is surprisingly sharp. Being able to see full colour even when the street lamps are dim is a proper bonus for identifying who is poking around outside. It links up to the wifi on both bands which is handy if your router is a bit far away and the person detection is accurate enough that I am not getting buzzed every time a pigeon lands on the fence.

In terms of value, you are getting a lot of peace of mind without the cost of a professional install. It is a reliable choice for renters or anyone who just wants a quick way to monitor a parcel delivery while they are stuck at the office. Using the app to check the feed is dead simple and having the option to stick a microSD card in for local storage saves you a fortune on monthly subscriptions.

Good window camera with easy setup, but cloud-centric ecosystem
I installed the HomiQ W8-3MP window camera (44 at time of review) mainly to monitor the back garden through the glass of an upstairs window, which is exactly the scenario it is designed for. Installation was straightforward, after the app connects via Bluetooth and you input the WiFi password for full connection. The angled magnetic mount made positioning easy, and the anti-glare design does noticeably reduce reflections when shooting through glass. Daytime image quality is good for a small camera at this price point, with clear 3 MP video and a wide field of view.

There are several flat magnetic mounts in the box, so you can move the camera about. It’s powered over a USB-C cable, there’s a UK power supply in box and a USB-A to USB-C cable. There is a slot for Micro-SD card (not suppled); after fitting one the camera can record continuously like a dash-cam or only for triggered events.

Night performance is also decent. The “colour night vision” is surprisingly good with some ambient light and produces usable footage, though like most cameras it falls back toward monochrome in very dark conditions. Motion alerts arrive promptly in the app and the live view loads quickly once connected.

The app (I ran on Android) seems robust and has features to manage multiple cameras.

The main observation is the reliance on the vendor’s cloud platform. The camera works through the HomiQ app and remote viewing functions without needing router configuration, but this means the device communicates via the manufacturer’s servers rather than operating purely locally. The app also strongly promotes a paid subscription (from 40 per year) for features branded as “AI”, such as enhanced detection and cloud storage. Without the subscription you still get live viewing and basic alerts, but many of the more advanced features are locked behind the paywall.

Overall, this is a convenient and easy-to-install window camera with respectable image quality and simple setup. It works well for basic monitoring, especially where drilling or outdoor mounting is not desirable or possible such as rented properties. Just be aware that the ecosystem is cloud-centric and the full feature set requires an ongoing subscription.
