Better than expected!
The condition of the phone was closer to excellent than good so thank you for that! I love the phone, super responsive and as quick as any top model today. It would have gotten 5 stars but the battery is more degraded than I’d like…but it is a 3yr old phone so it’s not going to be 100% I will get a new battery when the time comes
Tolles Smartphone, jederzeit wieder.
Zugegeben, nicht ganz ohne Vorbehalte hatte ich mich fr das hier angebotene Pixel 8 entschieden. Was soll ich sagen?
Having owned a Pixel 6a for three years – I would NEVER return to owning another well known brand. I take guidance from my senior software developer son who rates Pixel phones very highly and currently owns the Pixel 8 himself. I had to ditch my Pixel 6a as it developed a glitch with making/receiving calls.
This is a refurbished phone, supported for four years and at a fraction of the price my son paid for his, brand new. Other than arriving in a plain white box and a tiny tiny little nick, on the trim, which is covered by the phone case I have purchased …there is no way of telling it isn’t brand new.
I tested battery power, when using the OS Maps app, all day Sunday when doing an 8 mile walk. My 6a always required a top up from my battery pack. The 8 only dropped 50%. Well impressed.
No shutter sound on camera so not from Japanese market. Love it!
Used unit but cosmetically perfect. CPU X reports 212 cycles on battery but capacity seems to be as good as new.
However, unreliable file transfer on USB C port. Could be a cable problem but USB C ports do wear with use.
Not a problem perhaps for users with wireless charging (which is reasonably fast) and where mass file transfer isn’t required. Screen brightness is high and appear to be as good as new. Camera quality is as reputed for Google phones. Just updated to Android 15 so have not had opportunity to test the apps with latest OS. Rather annoying that Google do not include any anti-virus and cleaner app. But the biggest disappointment for me and the reason for then 4 star rating, is how far the lens module projects out of the phone – 3mm – making the thing 12mm thick at its thickest point. This is not obvious from Amazon photos and not mentioned by professional reviewers that I had checked. Another concern is memory capacity. Have not yet fully setup this phone but Android 15 takes up 10GB and with temporary files associated with every app, 128GB may not be sufficient for my requirements. As for value for money, it is getting questionable by the day. Now that this model has been superceded by Pixel 9, prices are beginning to fall from other sellers, so a brand new one is already not much more expensive than this second hand one.
My recommendation would be to buy a 256GB version when the prices fall to more reasonable levels.
This particular phone had a strange touch sensation which I had put down to excessive haptic feedback response but having switched the feature off, the screen now feels and sounds as if there is an airgap behind the glass.
The reviewers tell me that the Google Tensor chipsets run hot, but I did not appreciate just how hot until I used Google maps for navigation. This phone got very hot indeed. In the end, decided to return the phone and try with a brand new phone.
