Incredible camera for the money. Very pleasantly surprised as no configuration or software needed.
It plugged right in and focused on the face accurately with no lag. Very pleased with this camera.

I upgraded to this webcam for work meetings and occasional streaming, and the improvement over a built-in laptop camera was obvious straight away. The 4K resolution produces a sharp, detailed image, while the Sony sensor delivers natural colours and excellent clarity. Even in less-than-perfect lighting, the automatic low-light adjustment keeps the picture looking bright and well balanced without making it appear grainy.

Crisp picture, background noise sorted
Needed a sharper camera for those endless Teams calls and the Acer A640 has mostly delivered. Picture quality jumps out straight away, colours feel natural and the focus snaps on fast.
During Wednesday’s call with the head teacher I had the twins arguing about the TV behind me and the dog barking at a gull, yet she still heard me clearly. That AI mic strips out a fair bit of chaos.
And sliding the little privacy shutter shut afterwards is oddly satisfying, no sticky tape needed. Plugged straight into my ageing desktop with the supplied USB C adapter, no hassle.
But it isn’t perfect. Mount could hold firmer when I thump the desk and streaming in full 4K taxes my laptop so I use 1080 most days. Even with those niggles I’d still hand it four stars for clarity, build and value.

Great video quality. I use it for 1080p 60fps for clean video for client calls. Microphone works but not as well as a headset/earbuds. Connected easily with no addition downloads. Will definitely buy acer for my next one as well.
Super crisp video and clear audio
I’ve used a Logitech C920 HD Pro as a daily webcam for years which is my point of comparison for reviewing this camera.
This Acer webcam is very detailed and crisp with realistic colour balance, noticeably more than my previous HD camera. However if you normally use software effects or filters to soften the picture quality you may not notice much difference.
A USB-A to USB-c adapter is included which is handy. The privacy shutter works well and stays open or closed reliably. It’s visually obvious when the shutter is open because it sticks up above the camera. Closing the shutter just blocks out the camera lens rather than disabling the camera and does not disable the microphone either so it’s not a 100% effective privacy filter.
The mechanism to clamp the webcam to the top of a monitor is flexible and stays in position to held the webcam steady similar to other webcams.
In my tests it performed very well for real life videoconferencing with clear audio and a clearer picture than my previous webcam.

Acer A640 4K Webcam for PC — Review
This webcam from Acer supports up to 4k resolution output. This creates a sharp image with plenty of detail. The webcam features auto focus, so it is possible to demonstrate or show items on the camera too, which show in plenty of detail, and the exposure and focus adjust quickly. The webcam is plug-and-play, so no need to worry about installing drivers. The camera lens features a privacy cap, but folds up and down, so there’s no worry of losing it. The included USB C/A cable is way too short in my opinion, being only 1.5M. If you use the webcam with a laptop, it will be alright, but it’s too short to use with your desktop computer on the floor.
Overall, for 69.99, at the time of review, this webcam offers fair value. The image quality is excellent, the webcam is quite compact and easy to carry around, and it has some genuinely great features that are well implemented, like auto focus and a wide field of view. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a medium tier 4k webcam. 4 stars
acer HD webcam..
for 40 bucks its not a bad unit. here is what i notice. out the box at the default camera settings (the way i test all webcams) the image is sharp and dark, you will need to go in your capture/streaming software and adjust the brightness, sharpness, exposure, and white balance and whatever else to get the image to how you need it. main thing is to have good lighting. as with most of these webcams, i experience video lag at the higher resolution settings. fortunately i found that for my purposes recording vid @ 1280×960 –60fps (4:3) i tend to get a decent video. now there is still a bit of video noise but i can work with that. the microphones are excellent, i have fans going in the background and my recordings were pretty clear with much of the bkgrnd noise gone. some other pros of the unit is the built in lens cover, the usb-c adaptor, what i dont like is the cable isnt detachable. gotta rate this ~ 4 stars overall based on budget price and pros outweighing the cons
