Brilliant lights
I have found these to be absolutely brilliant. Being a bit lazy I just hooked the bracket over a hanging basket hook, set a warmer tone, and it has lit up my front door for me on my arrival ever since. Works flawlessly and I like the simple elegant design. Great value and quality build.
As someone obsessed with solar tech and always on the lookout for reliable solar garden and security lights, I have to say this ALUSSO solar floodlight exceeded my expectations. The build quality is outstanding, the combination of aluminum and polycarbonate gives it a solid, durable feel, not the flimsy plastic you often see in cheaper models. It looks modern and sleek, yet feels tough enough to withstand any weather.
For the price, this light packs serious value. You get 3 adjustable color temperatures (warm, neutral, cool) and dimmable brightness, which I absolutely love for setting the right mood in my garden. The PIR motion sensor with 3 modes works perfectly, and the memory function is a thoughtful touch. Plus, no electricity bills, just pure solar power with a decent 2200mAh battery that charges in about 5 hours and runs for the whole evening.
Excellent performing solar lights
I’ve used other solar lights around the house and caravan before to simply light small areas when they are approached, but these lights really are a step above all of those in terms of light coverage.
I was initially struck by how heavy the lights are, much of which is down to the good quality bracket that doubles up as a hinge between the lights and the solar panels.
The fact that both sections are hinged, allows you fully control the angle of each independently. This means you are able to optimise the angle towards the sun and also where you would like the light to shine. I’ve found the latter really useful as I can focus the light towards my garden without disturbing the neighbours over the fence.
Light levels are very good and you have options for how you’d like the lights to operate in terms of sensor control how long the lights remain on for and the brightness.
This a good set of lights that provide floodlight coverage very conveniently and at a reasonable price.
These ALUSSO solar security lights come in a pack of two and, since they don’t rely on an outside power source, they are easy to install just about anywhere.
They are fairly small but provide a surprisingly bright light so are ideal for use either as security lights or as floodlights for barbecues or other outdoor activities. One feature that I like a lot is that there are three colour temperature settings so the colour temperature can be changed according to your needs or preferences.
For example, I have fitted one light to the side of the shed and, since I have that one set up as a motion-sensing security light, I’ll keep the colour temperature set to a bright cold white. However the other light may possibly be used for outdoor family events such as barbecues, and we may change the colour temperature according to the season i.e. warm white in autumn but cold light on a warm summer’s night.
Being fairly small lights with batteries of only 2200 mAh, the lights understandably don’t last very long on full power so I would say that they lend themselves more towards being used as motion-sensing occasional-use lights than as permanent light sources.
Having said that, however, my daughter borrowed both lights when they went camping and they apparently provided a useful source of light even on their lowest setting. When the family went to bed, my daughter changed the setting on one of the lights to motion-sensing in case anyone needed to nip to the loo in the night, and it apparently still worked well in that role throughout the night.
One slight disadvantage that I have found with these ALUSSO lights is that the solar sensor cannot be detached from the unit, so placement of the lamp may possibly be compromised. I have another similarly-priced solar light from a well-known brand, and this allows the solar panel to be placed up to 14 feet from the light unit, thereby ensuring that the solar panel is placed in the optimum location. This feature is perhaps less important during sunny summers but I have to say that it seems to make a significant difference on overcast days.
Overall, these are well-made lights that are easy to fit and to use. The motion-sensing is adequate at around 3 metres but the wide variety of lighting settings gives these lights a distinct advantage over many other solar lights.
Very bright solar lights
Often, I find solar lights are only any good for ambience, but these are as strong as some of my old flood lights whilst having a range of benefits. Some of these include not only colour and brightness control, but also a large 2200mAh battery and a 2 x remote controls.
Along with these features the lights feel very durable and well-made so I have no issues leaving them out in even strong weather (they are IP65 rated), whilst the solar charging works as effectively as any solar light I’ve used, lasting the whole evening and then some.
With the overall quality of the lights considered I believe even at the full RRP it is very good value for money, especially with some of the similarly priced but inferior solar lights I’ve reviewed over the past 12 months.

High quality reasonably priced twin pack solar securit lights
This is a review for a twin pack of ALUSSO solar powered security lights.
Provided in the package were the two lights (with attached solar panels), two remote controls and two sets of fixing screws, nice and simple! The lights themselves look really well made, they are very tactile to handle and feel like a quality item. Some solar lights feel very cheap and tacky but not these, they feel worth every penny and I am sure will have a long life!
Three brightness levels are adjustable through the remote controls and 3 different security settings are also settable. You can also adjust the time the light stays on too. All in all it’s a really simple setup, the lights are simplicity to fit (just two screws go through the bracket into the wall) and just adjust the panel so it is pointing at the sun.
The range of the sensor is limited at around 3m, so really you can’t mount this on the top of a building and the manual says mount around 1-8-2.5m high. This is a minor limitation and whilst these solar security lights are brilliant, I wouldn’t recommend you use any solar lights for critical areas. They are more for areas it’s nice to have light – just my opinion and no fault of these lights which work really well. My own testing agreed with their range at about 2m to detect a person.
The lights were fully charged through about 6hrs in sunlight and are supposed to last for 8hrs. I haven’t flattened them yet but it has been a very bright summer sofar.
Overall they are very good quality lights, well made and simplicity itself to use and install. The price is reasonable at around 35 for the two lights, there are slightly cheaper variants out there but not of this quality.
