Excellent for monitoring and alarming on predefined zones
This camera is great for a high quality live feed. The camera provides you with plenty of detail with a 3k resolution, the features make it perfect for security and surveillance use. When mounted high up on the houses front walls you get a clear 360degrees of rotation with a clear view to monitor your driveway along this you can also use the IMOU app to set up automations within the app. As part of the app you can also set up zones which are great for motion tracking in particular zones. The built-in microphone is very good at isolating spoken noises from winds and car movement which works extremely well if you want to keep an eye on the street. Another feature that I found extremely handy is the camera’s smart tracking which is great for making everyone around aware that the camera is keeping an eye on the area. The camera’s wifi is great for live streaming however if you have a stock router from your isp with even a few devices and you set up a nvr over the ONVIF the instructions for this are a bit more difficult to come by but definitely possible with homeassistant. However, as good as the wifi is, nvr connections or home assistant live feeds constantly in my experience cause the device to disconnect due to bandwidth limitations particularly as over ONVIF it’s difficult to reduce the data rate by dropping resolution, to solve this I would hardwire it with ethernet making it a lot easier to run live feeds with stability. Overall I can definitely recommend it, the resolution is excellent and the app makes it easy to use. Adding more IMOU cameras to the app also integrates well and works seamlessly especially for movement notifications.
I’m already a huge fan of Imou security cameras and have 2 out the front of my house, plus another st my mother-in-law’s. They’re efficient, always have a reliable image quality and frame rate, plus the app works perfectly all round.
I’ve only tested this indoors for now, but will likely upgrade my main front camera with this one, due to the improved 3K image, dual lens and enhanced LED lighting.
The camera, as expected, is excellent quality. It mounts to a wall via a now-standard mounting system used by Imou. You mount the small bracket to the wall, then screw the camera onto it.
This has a secure sealed location for a memory card, plus fairly well hidden reset button.
You get a free trial of the online protection system, but this is fairly good value for the basic 7 day package, otherwise a more expensive package is available.
Make sure you keep the instruction booklet, since it has a qr code to scan to set the camera up. It’s one of the easiest ones to do though.
The improved system seems to work well. I like the zoom lens and efficient operation. It’s definitely an upgrade over earlier cameras, which are still competitive though.
Signal also seems good from the dual antenna, which can be moved around to suit your WiFi location.
Overall, a fantastic security camera, with optional online storage. Definitely well recommended from my testing. The image quality is good and the camera as a while acts as a good theft deterrent.
