I am incredibly impressed with this laptop. It has a refined, premium and minimalistic aesthetic that is going to stand the test of time, especially because it has been built to such a high grade of quality. The specs are pretty good, it’s not the leading option for the price range in terms of spec but in my view it leads on build quality and comfort features. I can really tell that all of Microsoft’s experience has gone into the design of this laptop.

Now the laptop is constructed using precision milled aluminium. By that I mean they’re not inserted as modules. All the ports cutouts are even milled into the body, so these run no risk of long term wear and tear due to their absolute durability.

The surface is super smooth but not slippery. I would say the surface has a hard anodised coating, it’s scratch resistant, fingerprint resistant and adds to the premium aesthetic.

The laptop has no vents for fans and that’s because it cooled using a vapour chamber inside that spreads any heat and distributes it across the aluminium shell. So the cooling is completely passive and therefore silent. This really increases the laptops longevity as there can be no dust ingress.

Now the latop itself feels super sturdy. The chassis has an aluminium deck beneath the keyboard which makes it a real pleasure to type with because it supplies the user with a solid typing feel like using a good quality keyboard. The keyboard is pretty quiet whilst typing with dampened keys. Another silent aspect of this laptop is the haptic feedback mouse tracker. It doesn’t click when you click, instead it gives haptic feedback by means of a slight vibration. So this laptop just doesn’t annoy anyone in libraries or meetings. It can also be used as a pinch to zoom function along with the three and four finger gesture shortcuts. What’s more, the tracker is built directly into the deck which results in no flex or creaking, no grimy gaps and ultimately greater longevity.

Whilst using the keyboard and mouse tracker pad is great but so is the flawless transition to using the screen as a touch screen. It is smooth and I would say Microsoft has design this to have a smartphone feel, it has the same level of responsiveness and perfect for scrolling, pinching and tapping. It has a really familiar user experience, very intuitive and natural.

I also love the torque-balanced hinge. When it’s on a desk surface I can open the screen using on finger from any point.

The screen offers a really nice viewing experience. It is LCD and not OLED. But this really benefits longevity and battery. OLED doesn’t last as long and requires much more battery power. And I would say this is high end LCDs as visuals are still stunning. Brightness and colours are excellent, I can work on this laptop next to windows, outdoors and aslong as I am not in direct sunlight it holds up really well.

There are no speaker grills, they’re embedded beneath the surface. Despite this, they output is excellent. Loud and pumpy. Good clarity and enjoyable sound.

I love how well this laptop performs. It is fast and responsive., even under load I love the instant on feature, with smartphone like responsiveness, even from sleep. It’s a laptop that is always ready. It is a laptop designed for everyday tasks and it excels at that and a bit more. It can manage light gaming and video editing too.

In terms of software, it all runs very smoothly as expected. The built in AI Co Pilot is incredible, And i have excellent connectivity between my Android phone and this for file transfers and Link to Windows.

This laptop benefits from two USB-C ports, which transfer data exceptionally fast. The can also be used to charge the laptop, using standard chargers above 45W output or even a powerbank, again 45W plus. It alos benefits from a USB A port for legacy use and also a headphone jack.

There is tonnes more to love about this laptop and I have only broached a short selection of my favourite aspects. There is only one issue I have with this and that is the lack of a power adapter being included. It has such a cool port, magnetic so it cannot be ripped out by a clumsy person tripping on it. It’s quite pricey too to purchase and availability is not great.

In conclusion, this laptop really excels as an everyday kind of laptop that can be used to get things done, excellent for productivity. It’s build quality really future proofs it and I am confident it will have good longevity.
