Secure but would not rely on it fully. (no fault of product)
I read a lot of reviews before going for this. most clamed chain is too short, I agree it is, I realise why though , if chain is to big slipping hand in could allow person to undo clip.
I though see this as an excuse by Yale to cut costs, a bit like most companies now are doing to avoid sugar by reducing size , keeping price the same, after all removing the extra links did not reduce price, yet we get less.
This chain is well made but it will not prevent entry I knew this before hand
I have in the past needed to force entry into a property with one fitted, this was little effort but had to be done for safety of resident.
One hard kick and its going to pull the screws out of the door or wall, it will not prevent entry.
For me though what it will do is make a noise if someone tries to enter my property, no one is going to realise there is a chain on the door until its to late.
that will alert my dog, who will give them 2 very loud nice warning barks, it will then give me time to engage if they choice to stay.
Used tactically this is a great gadget., it also means I don’t have to keep locking my door unless going to bed or leaving property.
I feel Yale should though make this with a longer chain as optional, or supply with both short and long chain. No one can fault the quality but this would be useless if you do not have a spy hole to see who is outside, you can just about see one hands width with chain fitted and door opened.
This product is extremly well made. The chain is however a little bit short, which means depending on how your door frame is situated might mean you cannot look outside the gap between the chain and the door. Not a problem if you have a peep hole. The small chain does have a good benefit, it can help prevent someone from outside undoing the chain. I would recommend this security device. It is far superior to the standard door chains you often see in shops

Lo puse en la puerta principal porque mi peke ya puede abrir las puertas y va bastante bien , hemos hecho la prueba de intentar quitarla desde fuera y el sistema que tiene no lo permite .

I use this chain on the outside of a inner door (not your typical use) for childproofing reasons so I didn’t notice until I read a few more reviews that the chain is quite short. It does measure 13.5cm as described, but has a different number of chain links than in the last picture on the product page which could be misleading. I have included a picture to compare. I’m happy with it for my purpose as it seems sturdy and was easy to install.
Update: The main product image seems correct now. I have purchased this a few more times and have received longer chains…..so there is variation. They are all still good quality chains.
This is a nice bit of door furniture and is a breeze to fit (if you have access to a drill). As it points out in the instructions, make sure the angle bracket is mounted close to the edge of the door or else you may not be able to hook the chain into it. With everything fitted, the door will open just about an inch (2.54 cm) preventing anyone from getting their hand in and undoing the security.

This is an exceptionally good value door chain which I bought for my son’s house. It is easy to fit and is supplied with suitable screws for a solid wooden door. I know from having one of these before that if you use on a holloq style door you need to pick up specialist screws from a DIY shop.
Don’t use the ones supplied for a hollow door. Although the chain supplied was perfect for my use it is important to note that the photo shows 11 links, but the one supplied only has 7 links. This affects how far the door will open.
The 7 links was in fact better for me but if you have a door surround where you need a longer chain, I suggest you make enquiries first to ensure you get what you need.
