Ideal cheap external Pan and tilt WiFi camera.
If you are looking for a basic easy to setup pan and tilt camera then this is ideal. Connection is very simple. Charge the device via a USB charger before starting. Download the app via the QR code on the box. You have to register your details, but you do not need to buy anything or have to give your credit card details. Once you have registered and received the conformation code, turn the camera on, select the camera model number and wait for the camera to be connected to your app.

Fitting the camera is fairly straightforward. There is a template to get the screws in the right place. The camera then clips on the screws. The solar panel is then fitted and connected to the power USB connectors. I’ve had the camera installed for around 5 days and the battery is showing fully charged, so the solar is working well. I do have another make of camera that I solar powered. The solar panel on that camera has been fully charging the camera battery for around 18 months. So solar powered external camera are viable in the UK.

The control is a little be sluggish with a slight delay in control and return video. Its easy to over shot the position you want the camera in. Audio is very clear in both directions. Siren and light control are very easy to setup.

The camera does have a cheap feel to it, but at the cost it only to be expected. The app is free although you do need to register with your email address. The app is very easy to use.

Good Value Camera with limited compatibility
In terms of quality the camera is reasonable well made. It’s not super premium but pretty good for the price point. The solar panel providing a means to keep the battery charged means placement of the camera is very flexible which I like. All that you need to do is make sure that where the solar panel sits gets lots of sun light. Installation is again made easier and the solar panel can be installed in an alternate location to the camera. An initial main power charge is recommend before placing the camera outside. To use the camera a dedicated app is needed which I suppose goes with the price point. While local footage can be stored on an SD card, the app does push you to subscribe to a cloud subscription. While I understand why I am not a fan of the approach in apps. The camera + app work pretty well. While I do not think it’s a security solution it is a pretty low cost way get remote footage. A huge plus is that the camera is a PTZ one and can be repositioned using the app. The image quality is okay. Overall, for the price it is pretty good value and as a cable free solution there is great flexibility in installation. Being battery powered with a solar panel to charge the battery it is not suited to a constant streaming video feed. As far as I could tell there was no way to the ad the camera to a PVR NAS system which means that app must be used. If they could add this compatibility I think it would be a must have. As it stands it is just a pretty easy to install app only camera.

Flexible Wireless Camera That Performs Well Around the Home
I’ve been using this solar powered outdoor security camera to keep an eye on the driveway and front entrance, and it has made a positive first impression.

One of the biggest advantages is how easy it is to position. Because it’s completely wire free and powered by a separate solar panel, there’s no need to run mains power to the installation point, making it much easier to mount where it provides the best view rather than where a power socket happens to be. Once installed, the solar panel should help keep the internal battery topped up under normal daylight conditions, reducing the need for manual charging.

The PTZ function is genuinely useful. The camera rotates through almost a full circle, allowing a much larger area to be monitored than a fixed camera. Motor movement is smooth and responsive through the app, making it easy to check different parts of the property. Combined with the wide field of view, it significantly reduces blind spots around entrances, driveways and gardens.

Image quality is good for a 1080P camera. Daytime footage is sharp enough to clearly identify visitors, vehicles and deliveries, while colour night vision, assisted by the integrated spotlights, retains more useful detail than standard infrared alone when the area is illuminated. The PIR sensor helps reduce unnecessary recordings by focusing on genuine movement, and the AI human detection performed well during testing, avoiding many of the false alerts caused by trees moving in the wind. Motion tracking is another welcome feature, automatically following movement across the scene so subjects remain within view for longer.

The two-way audio is clear enough for speaking to delivery drivers or visitors, and the built-in spotlight and siren provide an extra layer of deterrence if required. Build quality also inspires confidence. The housing feels solid, the mounting bracket is sturdy, and the weather resistant construction appears well suited to permanent outdoor installation.

My only real criticism is that, like many WiFi cameras, overall responsiveness depends on having a strong wireless signal where it’s installed. Positioning therefore needs a little planning to achieve the best performance, and 1080P resolution is perfectly adequate but not quite as detailed as newer 2K or 4K models when digitally zooming into distant subjects.

Overall, it has met my expectations. It offers a well-balanced combination of flexible installation, reliable detection, useful smart features and dependable build quality, making it a solid option for anyone looking to improve home security without running cables.

Compact Design, But Ensure Your Wi-Fi Fits Firs
    T he Build & Size

I was immediately impressed by how remarkably compact this wireless solar-powered camera is. From top to bottom, the camera body itself measures less than 5 inches (not including the antennas). The accompanying solar panel is equally space-saving, coming in at a neat 4″ x 6″. If you are looking for a discreet security option that won’t look massive or eyesore-ish on your property, the form factor here is excellent.

    Setup & Connectivity Hurdle

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to fully test the pan, tilt, or video capabilities of this unit due to a network compatibility issue. This camera strictly requires a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. My current home internet router defaults to a 5 GHz band, and I am still figuring out how to temporarily split or step down my network frequency to get it connected. Make sure you check your router settings before ordering to ensure a smooth setup.

    App Integration & Brand Research

One thing to note is that Yoton utilizes the Osaio app for video streaming rather than a proprietary, branded app. Most of my other security cameras use an app manufactured by the same brand as the hardware, so this separate ecosystem was a bit unexpected. Because I couldn’t get past the network sync, I can’t speak to the functionality of the app itself.

Additionally, I attempted to do some extra research online to see what the manufacturer says about the unit, but I was unable to find any official videos from Yoton. The packaging and instruction manual do provide links to instructional videos, but they didn’t seem to yield results on my own search.

    Final Thoughts

From a pure hardware standpoint, it is a very well-sized, compact 360 pan-and-tilt solar option. Just be prepared to navigate the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi requirement and a third-party app ecosystem to get it up and running.

    Excelle
The YOTON Solar Security Camera is a practical outdoor security option for anyone looking for a wireless camera setup without the hassle of running power cables. With a built-in solar panel, it’s designed to keep running with minimal maintenance, making it a good choice for gardens, driveways, entrances or other outdoor areas.

The 360 PTZ (pan, tilt and zoom) design is one of the biggest advantages. Being able to move the camera remotely gives you a wider viewing area compared to fixed cameras, helping cover more space with a single unit. The 1080P HD resolution provides clear enough footage for everyday security monitoring, especially in good lighting conditions.

The colour night vision feature is useful for identifying movement after dark, while the spotlight adds extra visibility and can act as a deterrent. The AI human detection is also a helpful feature, as it aims to reduce false alerts from things like animals, leaves or general movement compared to basic motion detection.

The two-way audio allows you to communicate through the camera, which is handy for speaking to visitors or warning off unwanted activity. The siren alarm adds another layer of security if you need to draw attention to a situation.

The wireless setup makes installation much easier, and the IP66 waterproof rating means it is designed to handle normal outdoor conditions such as rain and dust. The solar charging is a big convenience, although performance will depend on how much sunlight the panel receives and how often the camera is activated.

Overall, this is a feature-packed outdoor camera that offers good value for home security. It combines easy installation, wide coverage, night vision and smart detection features, making it a useful choice for monitoring outdoor areas without needing a complicated wired system.

Decent quality and works very well.
The YOTON Solar Security Camera is an absolute bargain for the price as your getting a Wireless Solar powered Pan & Tilt outdoor camera with all the usual options on it, its in 1080p which is good enough to be nice and clear during day and night with colour night vision as well, its a 360 PTZ gimbal camera as mentioned with AI Human Detection, Two-Way Audio, a spot light and siren alarm with a IP66 Waterproof rating. These type of security cameras are simple to mount its basically secure the bracket to the intended area and the camera clips on to the bracket and just mount the solar panel in a good sunny spot for charging, i tend to mount this type of camera near an upstairs window if possible as access is easier for cleaning or reconnecting to your household wifi. It works through the Osaio app on your phone or tablet its not the best app but functional and you can sign up to a cloud storage package but i don’t bother with that, in did install an SD card for local storage as it takes up to a 128gb card. The system works of 2.5GHz only which works well for us and has a 5200MAh battery powered by a 3w solar panel which seems to be plenty enough in summer, for the winter months as i have installed it near a window i have used a double USB adapter in the camera with the solar panel lead in one side, and a USB cable in the other side leading through the window to plug in to a charging adapter, if your going to use this method make sure the adapter is for power & Data transfer or it wont work.

So all together a rather good security set up for very little cost indeed.

Great hardware and easy setup, let down slightly by the app
I bought this camera as a straightforward solution to keep an eye on my driveway and car, and on the hardware front, it absolutely delivers.

    The Good:

Simple Setup: Getting the camera up and running using the provided instructions and app was completely hassle-free.

Easy Installation: It was a breeze to affix to my fence using the supplied screws. The wire-free, solar-powered design means no fiddling with cables.

Solid Performance: The video quality is sharp, and the pan-tilt coverage gives peace of mind for monitoring the car.

    The Not-So-Good:

Basic App & Subscription Prompts: The companion app feels quite basic and regularly tries to push you toward a paid cloud storage subscription, which gets a bit tedious.

No Activity Zones: A major downside is the lack of customisable motion zones. It’s an “all or nothing” approach to detection, meaning you can’t easily block out high-traffic areas to avoid false alerts.

Smart Home Integration Issues: I attempted to link it to Google Home, but it kept getting stuck in an endless authorisation loop and failing to connect.

    Summary:

For now, I’m stuck using the native app, which isn’t the best. However, as a standalone piece of security hardware for a driveway, it works really well for the price. If the software and smart home integration were a bit more polished, it would easily be a five-star product.

Keeps an eye on the garde
The camera covers a much wider area than the fixed one it replaced, so I don’t have to rely on a single angle anymore. Being able to move the view remotely has been useful for checking the side gate after deliveries or seeing what’s happening near the shed without walking outside.

The solar panel has kept the battery topped up through normal daylight, and the picture stays clear enough to recognise people when the light fades. The alerts have mostly been for actual visitors rather than random movement, and the two-way audio has come in handy for speaking to delivery drivers when nobody is home.

360 Protection with Convenient Solar Powe
I installed this YOTON Solar Security Camera to monitor my driveway, and so far it has been a great addition to my home security setup. The wireless design made installation simple since I didn’t have to run any power cables. The included solar panel keeps the battery charged, which means less maintenance and no worrying about frequent recharging.

One feature I really appreciate is the 360 pan and tilt capability. It provides excellent coverage and allows me to check areas that would normally require multiple fixed cameras. The video quality is clear during the day, and the color night vision does a surprisingly good job of capturing details after dark.

The AI human detection seems accurate and helps reduce unnecessary alerts. Motion notifications arrive quickly through the app, and the auto-tracking feature helps keep moving subjects in view. The two-way audio is also useful for speaking with visitors or delivery drivers without opening the door.

The camera feels well-built, and the IP66 weatherproof rating gives me confidence that it can handle rain and outdoor conditions. The spotlight and siren alarm add an extra layer of security when needed.

Overall, this is a feature-packed solar-powered security camera that offers good video quality, wide coverage, useful smart detection features, and easy installation. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable outdoor security camera without the hassle of running wires.

Good value, but could do more
I think this is quite good value for a real pan and tilt security camera, but it does have a few drawbacks.

I found the construction to be a little flimsy compared to other cameras I’ve used. Everything worked, but it was a little cheap feeling. The camera is designed to be mounted to a wall, upside down, and it’s not something that can easily be mounted in another orientation, as the wireless antennae would obscure the lens.

That’s fine, but you do need a specific location in mind before choosing this camera. The solar panel can keep the camera powered, but it does need to receive direct sunlight, whereas you’ll probably want to keep the camera itself shaded, and maybe protected from rain. It’s watrproof, but I’m not sure exactly how much harsh weather the camera will take!

The camera uses the OSAIO app to control it, which is fine and very similar to other apps I’ve used. You need an account, but then you can move the camera around and get notifications easily. It says it integrates with Alexa and Google Home voice assistants, but I don’t use those. Annoyingly there doesn’t seem to be any method of integrating it into my smart home of choice (Home Assistant), and I’d really like to see that in future.

Overall, this camera is fine. You do get a lot for your money, but it’s a little cheap feeling and that lack of real smart home integration will be a deal breaker for some.

    Flexible Coverage and Useful Alerts
Overall performance during home monitoring has been steady, with features that keep daily use simple. Setup is straightforward—no power cables to run through walls or mountings required.

Daytime video quality is good: faces and vehicle details are clear enough to identify, while the spotlight-assisted night vision delivers surprisingly usable color footage in low light—better than expected.

I like how it covers a full 360 degrees with smooth rotation; this eliminates blind spots better than fixed cameras do. The AI-powered human detection works well most of the time, keeping my notifications manageable by filtering out motion from pets or trees.

Solar charging keeps battery levels stable during daylight hours—less hassle compared to wired models that need outlets nearby. Though cloudy days can slow recharge slightly, overall battery life has been dependable so far.

App controls are responsive and easy once you get familiar with them; pan/tilt functions work smoothly from your phone.

It’s a balanced choice: not perfect but offers wide coverage without complicated installation!

    Great Outdoor Camera
I’ve been using this camera for a few weeks and I’m impressed. The picture is clear, the motion detection works well, and the solar panel keeps it charged without any hassle. The app was easy to set up and I like being able to rotate the camera to see more of my yard. Great value for the price.
