I wanted a simple way to protect our conservatory and let us know if a door was opened.
I decided to try this offering from Kerui. It seemed to tick all the boxes.
Setup is very easy indeed; you need the Tuya app, which you connect to and add to your Wi-Fi, like many smart home Wi-Fi bits. It does need 2.4 GHz to connect to.
I run Home Assistant and am happy to say that after a reload of the Tuya integration, this appeared and could be managed from there, too. So as soon as everyone is out of the house, it arms. You can only arm or disarm it, not trigger it.
The siren is reasonably loud, probably only enough to upset your immediate neighbours. It is loud enough to alert you, and you get notifications through the phone app if you are out of the house.
The siren also comes with two remotes, which are functional, if a little crude. They have a sliding panel to prevent accidental presses. This is a bit stiff, especially if you are going for the panic button. It also has an extendible aerial.
The other two accessories are door/window sensors that you stick to the door or window; separating the two halves triggers the alarm. These also have an extendible aerial.
For the price, it is very good.
As a basic, easy-to-set-up system, this is pretty decent. I would like the remote slider panels to be better, and the ability to trigger the alarm from Home Assistant.
I received this to add some extra security to a garage and workshop area, and it has worked well so far. Setup was straightforward, and having alerts sent directly to my phone adds peace of mind when I’m away from home.
