I have had these cameras for three weeks now, mounted on my garage. It is a separate building from the house, and the position gives good coverage of both the front and the back.
Power is simple to route via USB (it’s a USB-A plug in case you need to drill), and the Wi-Fi from the house reached the garage without any trouble. That meant no additional networking cables had to be run – the difference between an afternoon job and a much bigger one.
The ease of install carries through to the setup. Everything is easy to follow and easy to use, and I have no quibbles with any part of the process. The image quality is the great IMHO. The picture is clear and well focused, both during the day and at night. The only exception I have seen is when the sun is shining directly into the lens and causes glare, so I had to fashion a small sunscreen.
There is some useful functionality beyond the picture itself. The auto-tracking follows delivery drivers and visitors. Someone sprinting past is another matter, but that seems a fair limit. Live view works well – I do have a decent Wi-Fi setup, which will help.
The build is perfectly fine. It doesn’t feel like the most expensive camera you could buy, but it doesn’t feel overly cheap either. The only small point is that no SD cards are included.
At 90 for two 4K cameras, I feel this is genuine value for money.
High-resolution 4K PTZ camera with smooth rotational coverage.
This VSmaHome 4K 8MP Outdoor Security Camera delivers impressive image clarity (3840 x 2160 QHD) and full-colour night vision, making it a powerful security upgrade for a holiday home.
The 360 degree horizontal pan and 90 degree vertical tilt provide complete coverage with zero blind spots, backed up by smooth AI motion tracking that automatically follows movement around the property. Features like dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz + 5GHz), 2-way audio, and local microSD card recording (up to 128GB) ensure seamless, subscription-free monitoring.
While the lack of an included solar panel is a slight drawback if you were hoping for a off-grid solar setup, its mains-powered connection via the 10ft power cable gives you stable, uninterrupted 24/7 recording without battery anxiety. overall, a reliable, crisp bit of security kit!
Good quality build and video, easy to setup
I was looking for an upgrade to my security cameras in my home and these have suited perfectly.
I am no techy but my partner was able to set it all up in minutes by downloading the app and connecting the cameras to our WiFi. There are two cameras included so cover both front and back gardens and the installation is easy by screwing in the back plate and slotting the camera over it.
The app is easy to use also and has good features to move the camera and things like auto detection and night mode.
The clarity is great both in light and dark and the overall quality of the kit is good.
My only gripe is the larger usb plugs which make it awkward to route inside. A smaller usb-c or some form of slim connector along the cable would make it simpler to drill through walls or frames and slot it in.
There is option to save footage to the cloud for a fee or an SD card, this isn’t included though.
For the cost I think they are good value
There are plenty of cheap security cameras on the market and they are by no means equal. This one combines a strong feature set with solid performance, in a small, white, well built unit that is not an eyesore at the front of my property.
Image quality is good, with a decent 4K picture and adequate night vision. The AI motion detection works with a good degree of intelligence, and there is no subscription requirement, which I appreciate. The 360 pan and 90 degree tilt are handy for tracking subjects from more than one angle. Mine covers the street in both directions and follows people as they approach the property.
The listing quotes IP66 weatherproofing, but I would never trust a camera like this to be fully exposed, especially with the lens uncovered. Mine is mounted in my porch area, outside but sheltered from direct rain and wind.
One potential negative is the power supply. It runs from a USB cable, so I had to drill through my kitchen window frame to reach an outlet, which is less convenient than a built-in battery. In my experience cameras with batteries inside tend to cause more problems than a fixed connection though, and at least this is a standard USB cable. Connection was easy and the signal is strong.
For anyone willing to tinker, the standard app and the internet are optional. The camera can be configured through RTSP for a more locally managed and secure setup.
Two-way audio is useful when you are out and a parcel arrives, since you can politely ask the driver to leave it in the agreed spot.
It is priced about right for what you would expect. A good quality, no frills camera with pretty good features, particularly the AI detection and the 360 pan and 90 degree tilt.
These look similar to others on the market, that retail for a much lower price, however, the specification on these is far superior to the 20 ones that you see advertised.
Firstly and, to my mind, most importantly is the video quality these are 8MP units that give a far clearer picture than the other 5MP or less cheapies. There’s little point in having a camera if you can’t see clearly what is happening!
Secondly they support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi networks so that you can utilise the higher speeds available from the 5GHz networks, giving you faster connections. less buffering and real-time conversations with the built-in speaker and microphone.
It has all of the features that you’d expect from a PTZ (Pan, Tilt, Zoom) camera and these are listed on the product’s page so I won’t repeat them here.
Installation is very easy, connection is via a 9 foot lead to a supplied USB plug-in adaptor, there is one supplied for each camera. The cameras support local storage on a micro-SD card up to 512MB, these are not supplied, cloud storage via the App or a combination of both. Cloud storage prices vary dependent on whether you choose a single camera or a package and whether you opt for event recording only or continuous recording. Whichever package you choose, starting from 3.66 per month (for a 12 month plan), you get a months free trial to evaluate it first.
The App, Canny Cam, is straightforward to install form either Google Play or Apple Store and it requires minimal permission to function, the App is free and doesn’t request any personal information, other than an email address, to register and no payment details are required. If you are installing micro-SD cards in the cameras then obviously be aware that if someone steals your camera, or card, then your recordings go with it, other than any you have previously downloaded.
As you’ll see from my photos these were taken from behind a double glazed window incidentally, the images are clear over quite a distance.
This is an impressive bit of kit. The picture quality is very good, with plenty of detail, and the pan and tilt range makes it easy to cover a large area without needing several fixed cameras.
The tracking and motion detection are useful, and being mains powered means there is no battery charging to worry about. Dual-band Wi-Fi is also welcome, particularly if you have a decent 5GHz signal where the camera is installed.
What surprised me most was the Android app. Smart camera apps can often be the weakest part of these products, but this one is actually good. It is reasonably clear, responsive and makes controlling the camera, viewing the live feed and changing settings straightforward.
I also like having the option of local microSD storage rather than being forced into a subscription.
There are a lot of features here and I have not tested every claimed function in depth, but my experience so far has been very positive. The combination of good image quality, useful controls and an Android app that does not make me want to throw my phone across the room makes this a very capable camera.
