Reliable micro SD card that has worked well in our outdoor camera
I received this product at no cost through the Amazon Vine programme in exchange for my honest opinion.
This micro SD card has worked out very well for us so far. We installed it in one of our outdoor cameras, and it has been reliable throughout the time we have been using it.
It was easy to format and set up, with no problems along the way. The large capacity is useful for camera footage, and it has also written data quickly enough that we have not noticed any issues during normal use.
So far, it feels like a good-quality card and has done exactly what we needed it to do. Reliability is the main thing I care about with storage like this, and up to this point it has been dependable.
If that changes over time, I will update the review, but for now it has done a wonderful job.
Pros:
— Easy to format and set up.
— Has been reliable in our outdoor camera.
— Large capacity is useful for recorded footage.
— Write speed has been good in our use.
— Feels like a quality card so far.
Cons:
— None found so far.
A practical 128GB card for dash cams
I used this 128GB card for continuous video recording and it formatted without any trouble. Recording stayed smooth and I did not run into missing or corrupted clips.
The useful number here is not really the advertised 100MB/s read speed. For cameras, dash cams and security recording, write performance matters more. This card is rated U3/V30 with up to 45MB/s write speed, so it has enough sustained performance for the sort of video recording it is aimed at. The V30 rating is especially useful because it gives more confidence than relying on a peak speed figure alone.
128GB is a sensible capacity for this sort of use. How much footage it holds depends heavily on resolution and bitrate, so I would not treat the capacity as a fixed number of recording hours.
It is a straightforward card, but the combination of sustained write rating, decent capacity and trouble-free formatting makes it easy to use where consistent recording matters.
Known brand and nicely packaged
Acer is a name I’m more comfortable trusting than some of the unknown memory card brands. This 128GB card comes very nicely packaged and the U3/V30 rating makes it suitable for cameras and dash cams. At $55 at the time I consider it decent value for money to have confidence in the product.
