Bei gutem Licht starke High-Speed-Kamera fr Bewegungsanalysen kleine Detail-Schwche
Die ELP 230fps Ultra High Speed 4K USB 3.0 Kamera kommt mit einer Objektivabdeckung aus Gummi und in CPE-Folie eingehllt in einem kleinen Karton zusammen mit einem gut 145 cm langen USB-A auf USB-C-Datenkabel sowie einem Beutel mit 4 kurzen Innensechskantschrauben nebst passendem Inbusschlssel. Die in Deutsch und weiteren Sprachen zu findenden Informationen in dem beiliegenden farbig illustrierten Faltblatt beschrnken sich im Wesentlichen auf die kompatible Video-Software, knappe Sicherheitshinweise und eine Abbildung der Verstellmglichkeiten von Fokus und Linse. Whrend der Funktionszweck der vier Schrauben (die zur Montage des mit entsprechenden Gewinden versehenen Aluminiumgehuses an einer RIG-Halterung, Montageplatten etc. dienen) mit keinem Wort erlutert wird, lassen sich die vier langen Innensechskantschrauben, die das Gehuse zusammenhalten, mit dem beigefgten Inbusschlssel leicht lsen und wieder befestigen. Um die Kamera exakt auf einen bestimmten Abstand einrichten zu knnen, muss hingegen eine winzige Kreuzschlitzschraube gelst werden, wozu ein przise passender Feinmechaniker-Schraubendreher bentigt wird, der nicht zum Lieferumfang zhlt. Hier wrde es aus meiner Sicht deutlich mehr Sinn machen, entweder diese zur Anpassung an den gewnschten Einsatzzweck fast immer zu lsende Fixierschraube durch eine zum mitgelieferten Schlssel passende Inbusschraube zu ersetzen oder statt des Sets zur Montagebefestigung einen passenden Schraubendreher beizufgen. Im brigen ist das robuste Gehuse der rund 135 g wiegenden Kamera an zwei Seiten mit einem Gewinde zur Befestigung auf einem gngigen Stativ mit -Zoll-Schraube versehen.
Beim Anschluss des hochwertig wirkenden Datenkabels an einen PC mit Windows 11-Betriebssystem wurde die auch mit weiteren Systemen wie Linux, Android und macOS ohne Installierung von Treibern Plug and Play” verwendbare Kamera umgehend erkannt. Ist die Fokusposition einmal korrekt angepasst, liefert das 71-Weitwinkelobjektiv nahezu verzerrungsfreie Bilder, die ber das gesamte Blickfeld in den hheren Auflsungsraten gestochen scharf sind. Ihre spezielle Strke fr den ihr von mir zugedachten Verwendungszweck liegt in der maximalen Bildrate von 230fps, die es mit Hilfe von Programmen wie OBS und Kinovea ermglichen, die Griff- und Schlagtechnik beim Spiel der E-Gitarre genau zu analysieren. Es kommt dabei selbst bei hoher Spielgeschwindigkeit kaum zu Schlieren. Fr eine adquate Echtzeit-Betrachtung auf dem Monitor muss dieser natrlich mit einer Frequenz von nicht weniger als 240 Hz arbeiten. Fr die Analyse in der Zeitlupe reichen aber auch 60 Hz vllig aus.
Unerlssliche Voraussetzung fr eine gute Bildqualitt ist aufgrund des kleinen (1/2,3″ CMOS) Bildsensors und des Fehlens einer automatischen Anpassung eine helle, gleichmige Ausleuchtung des relevanten Bildbereichs. Ohne diese verschwimmen die Konturen bereits bei relativ niedrigen Bewegungsgeschwindigkeiten.
Im Fazit handelt es sich um eine Kamera fr sehr spezifische Verwendungszwecke, die durch ihre technische Leistung, das robuste Gehuse und die gute Verarbeitung und Materialqualitt einschlielich des Datenkabels berzeugt. Bei der Dokumentation, der Auswahl des zum Lieferumfang zhlenden Zubehrs sowie der stringenten Gestaltung der Konstruktion im Detail (unterschiedliche Schraubentypen, Werkzeug nur fr die weniger relevanten Schrauben beigefgt) gibt es noch Luft nach oben, was den Abzug eines Sterns veranlasst.
Very solid with great design, with impressive 230fps video
This comes in very basic packaging for such an expensive product. Just a generic box with a sticker for the actual model stuck on the side.There is minimal thin foam wrapped around the camera itself, which isn’t much protection.
This is being sold as an ‘Ultra High Speed’ camera for motion analysis and it does that job well. It can record 230 frames per second of continuous video at 1080P, and 4K (2160P at 60fps). It has a wide field of view of 71 degrees and uses a global shutter to prevent imaging artefacts.
Common uses for it’s highspeed modes are Lightburn monitoring, golf-swing analysis, and recording industrial processes like machining or chemical reactions.
At 230fps with good lighting the image is clear and noise is reasonably well controlled, without losing much detail. As it is such a high framerate you should expect to provide increased lighting to compensate for the high shutter speed. There is a bit of noise but it’s not that intrusive even in stills, and video ‘fizzing’ is almost absent. Noise-reduction does not seem to be smearing all the detail away either, which is good to see.
Of course as you increase the framerate the resolution will drop accordingly. The 2160P looks very good and is far superior to your average 4K webcam.
The build quality is very good, metal in all areas. It is surprisingly solid and has a bit of weight. The lens is much better than your average webcam, with no noticeable distortion. The rest of the build quality is also very high, this is an industrial-level camera with a metal chassis and excellent functional design in all parts. Connection is via USB 3.0, which is easily capable of transmitting this at maximum bandwidth.
The current price of this is 121, which is cheap for such a specialist camera, and there is also a voucher taking it down to 108.90. Obviously for professional use the price isn’t that important as long as it does the job required, but this is a bargain.
Overall this is an impressive bit of kit that gets the job done perfectly, with true 230fps recording at 1080p.

This is probably the best high speed camera that I’ve had chance of testing here on Amazon. It’s very well made with the main body being very sturdy and robust.
The lens truly has no real distortion and yet it still has a fairly wide lens angle so you can get your subject in shot.
The only issue I had was that in the highest resolution and at the highest frame rate the USB 3.0 interface did stutter a little bit trying to stream the video feed. I think I need to test it again on a different computer system and see if that problem persists? I could possibly have been the laptop I was using at the time. The stutter wasn’t very pronounced.

Reliable High-Performance USB Camera
I own several ELP cameras across different resolutions, and they have all proven exceptionally reliable over time. I have this specific model hooked up to a Raspberry Pi as a dedicated network IP camera, and the integration was completely seamless with no driver or connection issues.
The clarity of the glass lens really stands out, delivering a crisp, detailed picture that makes the absolute most of the sensor. The standout bonus here is the performance: it handles high frame rates even at top resolutions, producing remarkably smooth, fluid video without the choppy lag or dropped frames you often get with cheaper webcams. The housing feels robustly built, making it an exceptionally flexible and capable choice for any custom monitoring or surveillance setup.
Ausgezeichnete, professionelle High-Speed-Kamera
Ich muss gestehen, dass ich bei Industriekameramodulen normalerweise nicht so schnell schwach werde. Aber dann stand da diese Spezifikationstabelle: 1080p bei 230 fps, 4K bei 60 fps, IMX577-Sensor mit 12 Megapixeln, USB 3.0 ohne Treiberinstallation. Das war genug, um die Neugier zu wecken.
Im Heimstudio habe ich schon einiges an Kameratechnik stehen — Canon-Bodys fr ernsthafte Aufnahmen, Blackmagic fr Videoarbeiten — aber so ein kompaktes Industriemodul mit diesen Features hatte ich noch nicht. Die ELP kam gut verpackt, in einem kleinen Alugehuse, das deutlich wertiger wirkt als erwartet. Das USB 3.0 Typ-C-Kabel mit 1,5 Metern, ein kleines Schraubenzubehr fr die Montage ebenfalls.
Am Windows-11-Rechner war die Kamera sofort erkannt, keine Treiberinstallation, kein Neustart. VLC zeigt das Bild in voller Auflsung an, die Kamera-App von Windows ebenfalls. Bei guter Beleuchtung — und das ist der entscheidende Punkt — liefert der 12-MP-IMX577-Sensor wirklich scharf gezeichnete Bilder. Der 1/2,3-Zoll-Sensor ist nicht gro, aber bei ausreichend Licht bertrifft er seine physische Gre deutlich.
Den 230-fps-Modus habe ich in OBS ausprobiert. Der Unterschied zu 30 fps ist bei schnellen Bewegungen tatschlich sichtbar — Unschrfe durch Bewegung ist dabei kaum mehr ein Thema. Fr Golfschwunganalysen oder hnliche Bewegungsstudien macht das durchaus Sinn. Beim 4K-Modus mit 30 fps hingegen ist das Bild erstaunlich detailreich fr ein so kleines Modul.
Das verzerrungsfreie 71-Weitwinkelobjektiv ist fest eingebaut und lsst sich per Schraube in der Fokusposition fixieren — praktisch, wenn man den Fokus einmal eingestellt hat und nicht will, dass er sich durch Erschtterungen verschiebt. Wer ein umschaltbares Zoomobjektiv erwartet, greift mit diesem Modul daneben. Das Sichtfeld ist fix, dafr ohne nennenswerte Randverzerrung.
Was mich berrascht hat: Auch bei USB 2.0 laufen noch sinnvolle Auflsungen durch. Man verliert natrlich in den Spitzenwerten, 1080p mit 120 fps ist dort aber noch mglich. Wer keinen freien USB-3.0-Port (oder einen ganz alten Rechner) hat, ist also nicht vollstndig aufgeschmissen.
Weniger begeistert war ich von der Schwachlichtleistung. Sobald das Licht nachlsst, zeigt der kleine Sensor seine Grenzen deutlich. Das ist kein Vorwurf — fr eine Hochgeschwindigkeitskamera mit kleinem Sensor ist das schlicht physikalisch bedingt. Man braucht helles, gleichmiges Licht, um wirklich gute Ergebnisse zu erzielen. Das sollte man beim Einsatz einplanen.
Die Kompatibilitt ist breit: Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, Raspberry Pi, Jetson Nano — alles ohne Treiberinstallation, weil UVC. Fr DIY-Projekte oder Maker-Umgebungen ist das ein echter Vorteil.
Mein persnliches Fazit: Die ELP 230fps-Kamera ist ein solide verarbeitetes Industriemodul mit beeindruckender Bildrate und sauberer Plug-and-Play-Integration. Sie ist kein Allrounder fr jede Lichtsituation, sondern ein Spezialist fr kontrollierte Umgebungen mit gutem Licht. Wer das wei und entsprechend einsetzt, bekommt fr den Preis eine technisch interessante Kamera — gerade wenn Bewegungsanalyse oder Hochgeschwindigkeitsaufnahmen gefragt sind.
Dieses Produkt wurde mir im Rahmen des Amazon Vine-Programms kostenfrei zur Verfgung gestellt. Das hat keinen Einfluss auf meine Bewertung.
Wertiges Kameramodul
Fr meinen 3d-Drucker mchte ich mir eine Videokontrollmglichkeit einbauen, dieses USB-Kameramodul eignet sich aufgrund des USB-Anschlusses fr meine vorhandene Druckersteuerungshardware sehr gut.
Auch am Win11-PC wird die Kamera sofort ohne irgendwelche Treiber erkannt (12MP U3 Camera), VLC bzw. Kamera-App zeigt sehr scharfe und knackige Bilder in der hchsten Auflsungsstufe, durch das gute Objektiv sehe ich fast den kompletten Innenraum des Druckraumes. An einem schnellen Rechner sieht man so gut wie keine Schlieren beim bewegen des Druckkopfes.
Da ich eh ein Kameramodul bentige, habe ich auf dieses anbaufhige Modul gesetzt.
Im Lieferumfang ist nur ein wenig hilfreiches mehrsprachiges Manual sowie Schrauben und ein passender Inbusschlssel beigelegt, eine Netzsuche auf der Herstellerseite elpcctv_com bzw webcamerausb_com bringt hier mehr, vor allem die Downloadsektion ist interessant.
Alles in allem ein sehr wertig erscheinendes Kameramodul mit klasse Objektiv und langer USB-Datenleitung (zum anschrauben).
Great for small projects
This is a great camera for projects. There isn’t any adjustment on the lens on this, so you can’t zoom in or out, and you’re basically dealing with a fixed lens.
It does benefit from a 71-degree wide-view lens, and the quality is of unquestionable quality. The image is not only crisp, but sharp, world of differene when compared to other cameras.
The simplicity of connecting this up, as plug and play as USB 3 via USB-A port makes this compatible to a lot of devices, including laptops, with no need for drivers for Win 11 OS.
The build, being aluminium, is very well constructed, hard-wearing and ideal for mobile devices, such as if you decide to attach to an RC car, via a mini on board computer.
To take advantage of the high frae rate, I suggest making use of appropriate software that can support this along with compatible hardware.
Great for custom DIY projects
I have quite a number of these ELP cameras and absolutely love them – they are a far cry from traditional webcams, and whilst they can certainly be used as one, they really are more suited for specialist use.
The great thing about these ELP camera’s is that they are completely plug & play – no driver installation needed. I can even hook this up to my iPad Pro via Type-C (using my own cable) and can use one of the many apps to record video and capture images. This has a Type-C port on the back, and includes a Type-C to Type-A cable.
Having tested this out with a variety of objects, from a bowl of colourful chocolate eggs, to some of my sons random collection of malachite, the quality is impressive. Very crystal clear, vibrant colours. Low light works nicely too. For video recording, this only goes up to 230fps on 1080p, with 4K providing up to 60fps recordings with the added benefit of using rolling shutter.
I do like that this has multiple 1/4″ threads for various different types of mounting (tripods, over head arms etc).
Also features manual focus, which can be locked using a small screw.
At just over 120, these are pretty decent specialist cameras that will work great with custom projects.
Fantastic USB Camera with superb clarity
Used this USB camera for a local AI person identification setup in my home automation system, and it works brilliant. The image clarity at 4K resolution is super sharp, and the 230fps mode at 1080p handles fast movement without any blur whatsoever, which is awesome for precise tracking.
The 71 HFOV lens offers a fantastic, natural field of view with zero noticeable distortion around the edges. Connection was seamless as a standard plug and play USB device, requiring no extra drivers to get running smoothly. The build feels solid, and the frame rate consistency is superb for machine vision tasks. Highly recommended if you need reliable high-speed video capture!
