Not suitable for stairs but does a great job on our living room beige carpet – which shows dirt easily. The only downsides of this vacuum are the small fluid tank size (takes about 3 fill ups to do a small living room) and the fact it accumulates sludge at the edges of the suction area which sometimes makes an appearance when doing a subsequent carpet clean – it’s not a huge issue and easily resolvable by taking the time to clean it out on each run.

For the price, an excellent carpet cleaner for regular use.

Great cleaner but on a not too dirty carpet picked every bit of fluff and dirt despite pre hoovering and then spewed all the dirty bits out as u continued to use it over a beige carpet going item but that was disappointing.Does clean well

Having previously had a larger Vax I decided to go for something smaller in the hope that it would be easier for me to use as I am only 5 foot tall and the larger one was too big and heavy really.

This little machine is fantastic. Even though it is much lighter, shorter and smaller than the previous one it cleans just as well, if not better as it gets into smaller spaces. I was so fed up with all the bulky alternatives which if you are of shorter stature make life difficult, this little beast is perfect and so easy to use.

Absolutely recommend I have a really large bungalow and have no problems, with this powerful little machine, cleaning all the carpets in one day.

Moved into a new flat with good quality carpet but heavily soiled. After a thorough vacuum, I washed the carpet with this vacuum cleaner cleaner. The dirty water was almost black! I decided to give it a second round and it was almost as dark.

The carpet looked incredibly cleaner, better and felt revitalised. Genuinely impressed with the cleaning power.

Top Tip: Once you’re done washing, use the carpet washer very slowly over the wet carpet to suck up extra water. That way it dries a lot faster.

Like the separate tanks for clean and dirty water, nice and light to use don’t have stairs and to be honest I don’t think it would be great to use on the stairs. Have not found a way to remove the plastic bit at the front so I can clean it.overall it does a decent job

Only difficulties are removing and replacing water containers but once you have the knack it is OK! However main criticism is that it is very difficult to clean around the brushes and extract build up of fluff and dirt.
Lightweight, easy to move and does do a good job.

I was sceptical about buying it as thought it wont be up to much for that price. I was soooo surprised by how great it is. The carpets are 5 and 7 years old and were flat. This has brought the pile back up. Carpets were cleaned a year ago after hiring a rug cleaner, The assembly so.easy. using it even easier. I hoover my carpets everday due to having a white dog and white cat. Using this brought up hairs that must have been embedded in the carpet. Very impressed with this machine and highly recommend. Carpets look and smell fab

This carpet does not clean carpets. I wanted a new carpet for my bedroom but decided it might be too costly so decided to clean the old one instead. But the Vax did not clean the carpet.. I think it is probably meant for freshening up rather than cleaning. I will be returning it soon.

    In actual disbelief.
This carpet had pet urine stains 1 year +, ashtrays dropped on it.
Room wasnt suitable to use, hoovering just didnt do it. Thought I would have to replace carpet.
Well, just look at the pictures! I used the solution that came with the vax and I just cannot believe how amazing the carpet looks feels and SMELLS!

    HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought this from Amazon Warehouse. It was a bit cheaper and I didn’t notice any defects whatsoever. It’s heavier than I thought it would be. The 2 water tanks, one for clean, one that sucks up the dirty water are tricky to get in and out. I took the dirty one out after cleaning a rug and promptly dropped it onto the clean rug! Oh dear, not good, had to put it all together again and suck up the dirty water. It doesn’t have any attachment to do the stairs. I did realise this before I bough it though. It does come with a small bottle of the cleaning solution. If you follow the instructions and be sure to suck up as much dirty water as possible, it does a good job and isn’t too difficult to use. Not much worse than a normal Hoover. I think it will be a useful item to have and save paying for someone to come in and clean the carpets. Some of my carpet is wool. This does tend to pick up the excess wool and get stuck under the clear plastic front over the brushes. Then it spews this out all over. You have to bend down and just pick it up. This isn’t a problem with the non wool carpets though.

What a difference it makes! With 2 young messy children my carpets/rugs were looking very worn and dirty but it took no time at all to have them looking fresh again. The vax cleaner was easy to assemble with just 2 parts to slot together and 3 screws to insert. It’s lightweight (not quite as heavy as my upright Dyson) and easy to manoeuvre. Water tanks slot in and out easily and it comes with a 200ml sample of carpet cleaner.

I’ve hired rug doctors previously and this works the same and gives a very similar result. It will get regular use so will pay for itself in no time.

Note it does have a small water fill tank (2.7 litres) but as its easy to take out and compact enough to fit under the tap it’s easy to refill.

The grey clump is all the hair/fluff that my regular vacuum missed!

    Love i

Easily put together, though I dont like having to build things like this – but really it was simple. Instructions are great and easy to follow. Took a wee while to get the hang of the ’tilt’ to get the water container and the dirty water container back in place but once you work it out it is easy. Made a real difference to the carpets. I am very pleased with this and the price was well worth it. It was lovely to get a small bottle of carpet shampoo with the cleaner so I was able to use it straight away. Oh and delivery was a day before I expected it so all in all I am a happy bunny.

Just purchased this little gem of a cleaner , wow easy to assemble and very lightweight. I really like how the compartments are separate and it cleaned my carpets a treat , also I have a golden retriever that constantly moults so using my regular vacuum then the cleaner has made a huge difference and I was amazed how much more dog hair there was lol . My only negative is cleaning the main head and brushes after use is not so good . But definitely rate it 5 stars

Works really well, so well it got clogged up with cat hair that my vacuum obviously couldn’t pick up. It was hard to clean this out, tipped it over the bath and used the shower head to clear it out.
You can’t do the stairs with it , so that’s really the only downside. Plus its made in China.

A great machine cleans carpet well that’s not been cleaned for 15 years it left it looking fresh. Machine is heavy at first when fill wuth water and detergent but easy to push round. Stairs could do with a longer hose as it only reaches 8 steps.
I found it easy to used when i empty the room.

We use it on plain carpet, it does spray water and tries to suck water, rotating brushes do clean and pick up hairs but not a 100 % as it should not be expected on first wash.
It has thin front nozzle to suck water back into dirty jar which sort of works like vacuum, but don’t expect to be a good vacuum.
    Overall, easy to use, effective.
Cleaning is a bit tricky as with hairs and dirt which can get accumulated in nozzle and jars, you will need to clean manually, we do it after each use.

The first time I used it I was trying to get maximum soap onto the carpet by continuously using the spray trigger. This resulted in the machine overheating and tripping my circuit breaker. I put it aside for the night, looked into returning it and was going to pack it up. The next day I tried it again but only sprayed water going forward, released trigger, and pulled machine back to suck up water. No more over-heating or tripping circuits. It’s a slow process but it works. My runner by the front door was filthy and the dirt that came out in the waste water container was amazing. Might need to go over it again, it was so dirty, but I can’t fault the cleaner. It is working.

The cleaner if fine however or concern is about the customer service provided by Vax. We tried to register the product on the web site the product code or product description was not recognised by Vax! After using the cleaner we were able to clean the tanks but could not clean the see through brush bar cover. We contacted Vax via their online chat help line, it crashed several time their side as it had timed out! After over an hour of trying we gave up, after searching the net we finally found a phone number where we could speak to a living person. This lady talked us through as to how we could clean this part of the cleaner, it is long winded and fiddling. You have to remove the bottom tank and flush through with a watering can or hose pipe and also use a bottle brush to remove and solids not ideal and in my opinion a design fault. I have to say however the lady I eventually spoke to was very helpful. But it should never take nearly take 2 hours to contact the manufacture

Looked at carpet cleaners for a while and decided to purchase the this one! Does not have an attachment for stairs, I have a spot cleaner so was just looking for something to clean a bigger area.
Came with 250ml bottle of ultra+ cleaner.
Found it very easy to assemble!
    Carpets came up great!
I did hoover before using the washer but there was the odd bit of gunk left on the carpet.
The head does not come off easily to clean, which many probably found disappointing. You can get it off by unscrewing 7 screws underneath…
I tipped the machine on its side out in the garden and poured water underneath… I also poured water down the front hose and it rinsed away all the residue. No mess indoors and the head was clean!
For the price, I am happy with my purchase.

The cleaner is pretty straightforward and quick to assemble from packaging to use. If you have a small house with an average number of rooms with carpets or rugs it’s ideal. I’m hindsight, I wished I’d bought the Vax Platinum model which has a specific detachable head specifically for cleaning stairs and also included steam cleaning options for hard floors. Doing stairs with this machine isn’t impossible but it’s a real struggle. I also keep forgetting to squeeze the solution trigger on the push and releasing it on the pull….! Overall, I would recommend this machine as a basic entry level piece of kit. The colour of the water after just the first attempt on a medium sized rug proves it works. When it’s full of cleaning solution it’s not the lightest to take upstairs. For the pricehowevr I can forgive it’s shortcomings

Very happy with this carpet cleaner which has saved money on getting in a professional. Easy to use and carpet dried quickly afterwards. I haven’t worked out if I could use it in stairs as there are no attachments. Fiddly to clean without unscrewing the rollers, but overall a good buy.

For a start, I’m not happy the price dropped 20 in 3 days but…… I’ve had the older version of this model (the crapy old orange one) and this one knocks it out the field! Much easier to empty the dirty tank compared to the older model, it is less screeching noise! The suction is awesome and I’m so pleased for I upgraded. It even got some old stains out as well! I paid 119 and it was worth every penny!

I had the older version of this cleaner without the revolving brushes and it just about did the job. Now this is the business for cleaning our carpets which don’t get heavily dirty. We have a bungalow so can’t really say what it’s like on stairs but without tools I imagine it’s not too good.
We used to pay 40 a room but this will save us in the long run. Happy with our purchase.

Very light and easy to carry up and down the stairs, the suction is powerful and cleans well. Extremely easy to dispose of dirty water and the container which also holds the water, cleans easily. The carpet cleaner comes with a bottle of cleaning solution ready to use. Easy to store as it’s not bulky.

Only negative things are, it is quite noisy & the neighbours beneath me were probably cursing me out. Also cleaning the brush bar area was difficult..

Great little carpet washer, no attachments are included for stair cleaning unlike bigger models but its cleans carpets really well and leaves them only slightly damp. The only gripe would be the small size of the clean and dirty water tanks that you have to refill and empty during the cleaning process but other than that I have no issues with this carpet washer.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersVax Dual Power Carpet Cleaner, 2.7 Litre, 800 W

This replaces my previous Vax “Agility” carpet cleaner, a misleading name because it was quite a monster and not at all convenient to use. I was hesitant in buying this newer one because I thought it might be the same … but it isn’t. It’s smaller, actually the same size as a normal vacuum cleaner. The fact it’s light and convenient to use means that you are more likely to use it instead of it just sitting in a cupboard.

There are plenty of instructions about how to use it, but do look at the product videos (under the product image at the top of this page), they are useful. In particular they give advice that isn’t in the instruction booklet, like the recommendation to go over the carpet again after cleaning with clean water in the tank. I know from my own experience that detergent left in the carpet tends to attract dirt, making the carpet dirtier quicker.

Cleaning the machine after use can be a bit difficult. The clear plastic at the front is the duct that sucks up the water/cleaner out of the carpet, and it gets dirty inside. The instructions are silent about how to clean this, and that’s because it’s not removable (on the old Agility model it was) so no easy way to clean it. I found that using a hosepipe (outside and carefully!) directed up under the machine did wash all the mess out.

This new cleaner does a similar good job in cleaning as my old one, but it’s small, lighter and more convenient. I recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 100 From Our UsersThis Vax is a piece of cake to put together, assembly involves 3 screw, if you can’t cope with that, I’m sure sure you should be adulting without supervision 🙂 Be careful unclipping the lower tank I absentmindedly unclipped all the clips and spilt it all over the floor, fear not clearing it up took seconds.

    So whats good?
1._Its not very noisy, it’s carpet cleaner they all tend to be louder than the average vacuum cleaner.
    2._Its easy to assemble.
3._The cleaner it comes with is great and really forgiving, it says 40ml per litre but don’t worry I messed up and must have put 140ml maybe 150ml into a 2 litre solution…it didn’t bleach my carpets or cause any harm, the 40ml is just the most efficient mix for value for money overdoing it costs you a few pennies because you’ll buy more cleaner a bit quicker…it’s no big deal really.
5._It’s easy to fill and refill and to empty, to make life easy when you buy this buy a cheap measuring jug that has at least 1 litre capacity and a 10-100ml measure.
6._It’s POWERFUL! You’ll see from the attached photos that it picks up, or rather draws out a lot of fluff from the carpets, this is all dirty fluff as you’ll see so while its powerful it’s also gentle and hasn’t damaged my carpets.

    So what’s not so good?
1._It has a small capacity the top tank holds 2 litres and the bottom roughly the same however because of the run through and carpet absorption etc, for my carpets i could do 2 top loads ever time i emptied the bottom load. You will empty this frequently i’m afraid but doing so is quick and easy and look at the pictures, see what I was emptying out…it’s clearly doing a good job.
2._It leaves fluff behind, quite a lot of it, my advice, have a vacuum cleaner on stand by to quickly suck up this fluff, yes the Vax isn’t sucking it all up but at least it’s doing what my vac can’t which is pick up this fluff, which my vac seemed to such hide amongst the carpet fibres, with this Vax there is nowhere to hide 🙂

    Advice
1._Pre clean carpets with a vacuum cleaner and have it standby to pick up that stray fluff.
2._Empty the lower tank down the toilet not the sink…fluff will clog your plug hole.
3._Make long slow fluid strokes, hold the trigger when you push it forwards, let the handle go and pull back in a continuous motion.
4._When you remove the tank note that you are tilting it to extract it, putting it back in is the reverse, bottom in first then the top and make sure you hear it click into place and that it is smoothly aligned.
5._The cap at 3/4 full (for the bottle that comes with the Vax is roughly 40ml).
6._If you struggle to find a measuring jug but have a 1Kg baking tin and a funnel to hand remember a 1Kg of water is the same as 1 litre 🙂

    Definitely Worth the Money

This carpet cleaner is in for a lot of work and it’s coping just fine. Heavily soiled carpets for the best part of the last ten years. Dogs, children and all ! Quite funny go over a bad patch and you can watch the dirty water being sucked right up into the machine! I had to put 3 screws into it but that wasn’t difficult either. Excellent value for the money !

Firstly, like a Dalek it doesn’t do stairs, there’s no attachment for them so I only gave it one star for that bit.
But the rest of it is amazing and I’m so glad I bought this. It’s simple to use and squirts and sucks with ease. Powerful suction on this bad boy, it really is a strong vacuum. I have cats and I think I could have made a kitten out of the amount of wet fur it inhaled out of my rugs. Just get one, you won’t regret it.

Having just replaced the heavier Bex Bissell carpet cleaner with this lightweight model I appreciate its mobility and ease of use. Although the separate reservoirs are slightly fiddly to install and remove nevertheless it cleans carpets very efficiently and with minimum fuss. Our grubby hall carpet does come up a treat after using the Vax. All in all it’s great value for money and cleans extremely well. Highly recommended. Maybe the next model will have a removable housing to facilitate cleaning. It would then definitely earn five stars from me

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersThe instructions are pretty basic and I found myself having to learn a few things as I went along.

    1. Don’t use too much cleaning fluid. If you do, it stops the machine from being able to suck up the dirty water properly for some reason. This is very important – I thought there was something wrong with mine until I realised.
    2. Get your carpet as clean as you can before the first time you use this machine. The amount of gunk it picks up will probably mean you have to spend some time cleaning it out afterwards. There seems to have been an earlier model where the nozzle was removable and easier to clean than this version.
    3. Do a rinse after you’ve cleaned your carpet using the fluid. Fill the clean water tank with water and go round again. You’ll be surprised how much shampoo and dirt is still there to be taken up.
    4. Prepare to feel ashamed of how dirty your carpet was before you got this! Mine is vacuumed every day by my robot, but the dirty water tank on this thing really showed me how much dirt was hiding in amongst my carpet fibres.

With those things learned I’m very pleased with it. My house is small and the front room is a very high-traffic area. I’ve also got a dog. I’m delighted with how much better the room looks, and it feels good to know that all of the dirt I’ve poured down the sink isn’t on my floor any more.

I never realised how filthy my carpet was !!! My carpet cleaner arrived less than 24 hours after ordering which was fantastic. However I did not expect to have to construct the cleaner but it proved quite simple to put together. After first use there were a few pros and cons. First the cons. The water and solution dispenser was too small, although 2litre+ capacity seems large. It took four tankfulls to do just one carpet. So it used a lot of solution to do one carpet. Handle length was bit on the short side so by end of carpet cleaning one aching back. pros – it does what it says in the paperwork – it really does what it says provided you don’t try to clean carpet in double quick time – go slowly ang give solution chance to break down dirt before vacuuming up as much water as possible- it also quickens up drying time. Taking water and solution tanks off is easy putting back slight fiddly – if not put on correctly expect to get your feet washed. Weight is perfect and and easy to manoever. Overall a very good product reasonably priced and relatively easy to use.

The carpet cleaner is effective. My carpets were not very dirty so I was pleased with the results. For the price I think it is good value. I did however decide to go over the carpet with clean water on the second bedroom, to rinse. This gave a better result. I do feel that the suction of the dirty water out of the carpet could be stronger (hence the rinse) but overall very happy. As with everything if you spend more you will probably get a stronger motor. I gave it a good 24 hours to dry afterwards.

A Good basic carpet cleaner. It cleans very well for the price that you pay and has certainly made a difference on my carpets. The carpet cleaner is not really suitable for stairs unless they are wide, as there is no additional attachments with this model so I would not recommend it for stairs. Despite having vacuumed the floor with a powerful Vax first before using the carpet cleaner there still gets some fluff up near the brushes, which is almost impossible to access and clean. This then sometimes falls out on your nice, clean carpet after you have cleaned it. The machine is noisy too but personally I do not have a problem with that. The machine is very light to lift even with water in it and as I have said it does clean the carpets very well. I would recommend this product if you do not have stairs. It is excellent value for money and does a good job.

I am wondering why I did not buy one of these ages ago. Although I probably should have checked to see if there was a combi wet/dry version. This has washed my carpets quite nicely and so long as I remember which side the belt drive is on it goes pretty close to the edge. It has also brushed up a lot of crap from my carpet that my dry vac has apparently been missing.

All in all at the 70 quid I paid for this it is brilliant.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat floor cleaner. Powerful and got out fairly deep set stains. Drying time isn’t too long, though I would suggest having windows open and a dehumidifier in the room if you’re using this regularly.
I did make the mistake of not noticing that it doesn’t come with attachments for smaller areas, which is a little annoying, but considering that was my fault for not reading, it doesn’t make a difference to my review.
My main issue with this is that on the side with the bristles, it does seem to leave a few ‘dots’ of dirt when you start cleaning if the carpet is particularly dirty (I don’t particularly see the point of the static bristle bar, or whatever they’re called, either as it means you’re leaving a good few inches on uncleaned carpet if you’re trying to clean along a skirting board.

Overall though, happy with this product and it really has given a new life to my carpe

Bought to replace the big heavy previous VAX machine that was starting to break in places. Very pleased. Its a smaller tank but that makes it lighter to handle and its easier to remove tanks than on the old machine so we are very happy. It doesnt have the remote hose attachment hence my stairs marking but we never used that before anyway! The bit they dont make enough of is the visceral joy to be found from pouring away the Brown Windsor soup collected in the dirty tank and then admiring the sludge left behind! We get the same thrill from emptying our Gtech vacuum cleaner. Yes I guess we are just weird.

Very easy to put together and to use. However as one other person said it is very fiddly to clean under the front cover, several screws to get it off so we hosed it out and got as much fluff out by hand as we could without unscrewing it.
I haven’t used it much yet but with a new puppy its going to be in fair use. However there is a stain thats not down to puppy and we must have spilt something on carpet, I can’t remember what but the machine hasn’t gone near it even though I went over it several times so that’s disappointing because it will just be something generally household that was spilt like white wine perhaps. Stain is right in middle of archway into kitchen and noticeable so I’m not happy the machine has done nothing to help. Looks like a hands and knees job then with something stronger which is not point of having machine as I’ve arthritis in my knee !!
Whilst I don’t expect it to clean as good as industrial we’ve had in past but which isn’t cheap, so far I’m just a bit disappointed but no matter what its going to be useful in years to come with a dog around again and will certainly serve to help in between the industrial deep cleans keeping costs down. I did ensure I used the proper vax shampoo for best results and would have been happy if had even removed some of that stain.
One or two other little bits it didn’t clear either but it may well clear those next time.
I’d still say its good value for price but I wouldn’t rely on it as my only ever carpet clean.
Much better than the vax one I had years ago when they first started doing them.
It’s powerful enough for our bungalow but if you’ve a full size house or big house I’d suggest you get at least the next size up.

    Vax dual power carpet cleaner.
Wow at this price I wasn’t expecting anything great.
    But I was wrong!
This machine did a fantastic job.
The dirt it lifted out our carpets was incredible.
Our beloved dog pass away and carpets were a mess.
The Dual power cleaner has two tanks one for your cleaning agent and water the other collects the dirty water from the carpet.
This dual power cleaner has two rollers that give the carpet a good scrubbing.
It has good suction that get the carpet dryish but more would make this machine truest amazing.
The only down side I could mention is there’s no stair attachment this is no biggy for me but other may think different.
At this price Vax have made an outstanding machine that cleans your carpet superbly.
Recommend anyone to try this out.

We have been using our Vax for several months now and have been really pleased with the results. The machine itself is very easy to use and easy to clean. The only gripe I have is the bottom of the machine where all the dirt and cleaning solution passes through which isn’t the most straight forward to clean – not that it needs to be clean anyway, it just looks a bit dirty! Overall, we’ve used it for coffee spills, baby food spills, dirty dog paw prints and the list goes on. Very pleased with this product so far and would recommend to a busy household!

My first carpet cleaner so I can’t really compare it to other products but I’m definitely pleased with it – especially for the price. My carpet in the living room is sometimes under heavy duty with a direct garden exit and my girlfriend’s dogs frequently coming over and this cleaner made my carpet (and my sofa) look spanking new. Very good product, recommend it!

On normal carpets the trick is to only squeeze the trigger on the forward stroke, then release, and slowly (so very slowly) pull back to remove all the moisture.

I found that going back over the same line without squeezing the trigger (so no liquid being dispensed) sucked up even more liquid still in the carpet and made them dry more quickly.

It’s too easy to start a “vacuuming” behaviour, you really must remember to inch forward and backward to enable the brush to clean and the suction to suck up all that dirty water.

We were very pleased with the results. Once fully dried (in the summer heatwave a couple of hours, in the damp, cold weather nearly all day) we could see that the carpets were cleaner. Well, the filthy dirty water that the cleaner had sucked up should have given us that clue anyway. However, you dispense about 3 times as much water as you suck up so you can see why it might take a while to dry.

It’s no good for stairs. You need the next model up with a stair-specific hose. I did try the stairs but it was very clompy and heavy to use and you can’t get get the cleaning head into position to so its stuff. OK, the stairs are now cleaner but I’m not sure I’d do them again.

We got it for our carpets to ensure all the pet accidents and spilled cups of tea were removed – and they were! For the money we can’t grumble. We’ve done it twice now, and will probably do this twice a year from now on, ideally when the weather is dry (open all windows!) so the carpets dry quickly.

It’s economical on the cleaning fluid too. The tiny, test bottle that comes with it did our whole house. The standard bottle we next purchased (it mentioned pet smell removal) will probably do us for several tranches of our house cleaning.

Tried 40ml of the solution with 1l of water like specified on the small carpeted part of my kitchen where some water leaks had coated somewhat before the results… I’m going to need more solution the water was very black and carpet resulted in being way lighter from first go over on years worth of dirt the machine was very easy to use in comparison to a way older one I had easy to haven’t finnished with it yet so not tried cleaning but the dirty water tank comes apart so should be super easy to clean unlike my old 1 where its full of unintended debris like pet hair the carpets end up way dryer after a few runs of the hoover then the previous one I had I wish I had this sooner though I best get started in doing more of the carpets probably going to do a few runs with plain water then the last run being the solouton this will take me awhile my old carpets are gross

The best thing that I ever buy on Amazon!
This machine is a life changer if you have carpets and pets!
Easy to use, to fill and refill, really clean the carpet and loooooong cable!
The only thing that I didn’t like was the soap solution (that’s is just liquid soap) that they send together. Is a tiny bottle and is not enough for two bedrooms, besides is not really good product. If you have more space to clean, my advice is buy a bigger bottle of the cleaning’s solution together.

If you have carpets, BUY IT NOW!

I have just received this cleaner so it is early to be reviewing it really… I have used it to clean my sitting room and hallway and am very satisfied with the result.
My disappointment is that it is very difficult to clean! The clean water tank and dirty water tank were not a problem but fluff gathers up and around inside where the brushes are and it is almost impossible to get at it to remove it.
It took such a long time to clean, resorted to using a knife in the end to get to the parts of the machine that were practically impossible to reach. Such a shame because for the price it is very good.

I cleaned one large carpet which is about to be replaced so wasn’t worried if it was ruined. Very, very pleased with the results. The carpet is brighter and softer since cleaning. The stairs may be easier for a younger person to clean but I haven’t tried yet as the machine is quite heavy for me. I am sure it would do a good job. My stair carpet is relatively new as well so too soon to clean just for a practice!

The easiest thing to use, and super light compared to the others I’ve used in the past. The only thing I would say ( if you have pets ) hair does get trapped in the front part and it’s not the easiest to get out, I used a pipe cleaner to get to it all but that’s the only bad thing about it.

Rented a Rug Doctor carpet cleaner to remove some marks from my lounge carpets and give them a general clean. It was hard work and slow going and failed to clean some of the marks.

So I bought this VAX and it cleared the stains in minutes. It’s so much easier than the commercial ones you can rent, feels much better put together and is really straightforward to use. Wish I’d bought it first.

It works great in rooms and wide spaces, on stairs not so much, because there isn’t enough surface for it.
My dog hates it because it is much noisier than the vacuum, but she does not like the vacuum either lol
I would advise care when taking the dirty liquid container off, as that is why I found it does not work on stairs very well… I took it off and it opened in mid air, letting all the dirt get into the carpet on the stairs, so I’ve had to clean those in another way.
I have put a bit more product into it than advised as it produces better results.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI bought the Vax after reading the reviews on here. I was happy with the cost on Amazon and delivery was very quick. I bought it mainly for my lounge carpet as its a interconnected room so has lots of ‘traffic’. It is very straightforward to put together and it was up and running in less than 30 mins after it arrived. It works really well, my advice is the slower you use take to clean and collect the water the better, the suction is great and the brushes really do get the pile of the carpet up to clean deep down. I’d read a review about not being able to clean inside the machine after it was used, i too found that it collected lots of hairs (we have 3 dogs) despite hoovering before use. I tried pipe-cleaners but this wasn’t really successful . My husband simply lifted it up to the sink and ran water through it and all the hairs washed out. Back to being like new again. I would highly recommend this product and am very happy with it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersOur previous Vax gave up last year after more than 10 years of service. Although the living room carpet was only a few months old, the hall hadn’t been done in ages. Finally bit the bullet and bought this one primarily on price. We are not disappointed. The transformation, even in the living room, is amazing. On to the rest of the house!

Three screws to assemble. Simple! Lightweight, easy to maneuver. Some reviews complained about the small water tanks but I found it only took 2 fills in total to complete our job. Sure, if you have a large house you’ll have to do more but a) you don’t shampoo the carpets everyday and b) if that’s the worse thing to complain about, you’re living a charmed life. And of course there’s Amazon. Delivered the next day so able to get stuck in straight away.

The only negative is cleaning around the brushes/shield after the work is done. It is a bit fiddly because they don’t come apart. But it can be done and, as I said before, you don’t shampoo everyday so it’s not a big issue.

I don’t know if the more expensive machines do a better job but we’re really happy with what this one does.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our Users+ NOT SUITABLE FOR HARD FLOORS +

My mum’s carpets had got a bit grubby however due to her health issues and logistical problems, getting them replaced would have been very difficult so I bought one of these. It came in a smaller box than anticipated but assembly was just a question of affixing the handle and inserting three screws. One would not go in fully which was slightly disconcerting however it does not affect use as the saying goes. Talking of “use”, that is really easy :

You fill the top reservoir with warm water (at up to 40 deg celsius) and then add 40ml of cleaning fluid per litre of water. The tank is umarked so I got my Sharpie out to mark one and two litre levels and just add the fluid after. You can then press the left pedal to lower the handle and the right to switch on. Then you move it forward whilst pulling the trigger over the area to clean just like vacuuming and then pull back with the trigger released. It really is that simple and the results have been excellent even on very old carpets which it has brought back to life. The unsightly grey water produced in the lower tank may leave you feeling a bit guilty but also prove it’s doing it’s job.

It does get through the tank quite quickly so you need to keep an eye on the level as there is no indicator. One two litre tank (+ 80ml cleaning fluid) should do a medium sized room ok and note obviously it will leave the carpet damp so it’s a good idea to do one room at a time rather than get carried away and blitz the whole gaff at once. I would not call it lightweight either so if doing upper bedrooms you might want to fill it from the bathroom to save lugging extra weight upstairs. Talking of stairs, I haven’t tried but I don’t think cleaning those is really an option with this item.

After cleaning there may be little bundles of wet fluff here and there but they are easy enough to pick up and I wouldn’t hoover until the following day when your carpet is completely dry otherwise the tracks will be more pronounced. The brush area may get a little messy with wet fluff but that’s easy enough to clean with your bare hands or a small implement of sorts. As mentioned, this is NOT suitable for hard floors, it will just leave you with a large puddle if you even stray onto one by an inch. Get a steam mop for those.

All good though, we are very pleased with this the ease of use and results produced by this cleaner considering the price paid.

I have just unpacked the cleaner and used it for the first time! I am fairly impressed. I used to get a dr rug hire from my local supermarket but with the quarantine I decided it was time to get my own. As can be expected it is not as powerful as the commercial models but a little patience and you get just as good results.

Pros – Very easy to set up get going. Not too noisy. Almost as good as the hire models. Fantastic for pet smells!!

Cons – The reservoirs need emptying relatable frequently. I had the get the cleaner over the sink to rinse out the base unit after use.

Even though we vacuum every day (we have dogs) the amount of dirt that come out of the carpet was unbelievable. We regularly use carpet shampoos and the like but the water when we finished was black. You carpets looked almost new after just one use. To cumbersome for the stairs and is to heavy for my partner to even try but for the rest of the house is amazing. Only criticism is the water storage is to small, didn’t realise how much water you would go through until we used it, refilled four times for one room.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis model does not contain tools to do stairs. Therefore I could not use it on my stairs.

It cleaned all the wall to wall carpeted areas in my home and used it on a red coloured rug which was really dirt engrained as the muddy water from this carpet ran down onto the carpeted area where was cleaning the rug on. It definitely delt with both the rug and wall to wall carpets in my home to a satisfactory level and the carpets where not left on a too wet sensation and dried quickly.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersAfter being in our new home for just under a year, we decided to buy this to do the carpets. Be prepared to go “yukkk” a lot. This thing is extremely effective, you’ll never believe your carpets are actually that dirty, right up until you use this. The double brush action really gets deep into the carpet, and as other who have reviewed this have said, make sure you hoover well and truly before using this as it will block up. Not an issue if it does though, just rinse out the dirty water unit and hey presto, off you go again. You will hear a change in the noise if it does block up, so, excellent that it gives you some warning too. All in all, 3 screws to put it together, use a capfull of the solution to one water container of warm water. That’s it, be amazed at how grubby your clean looking carpets can actually be.

Also, this doesn’t leave the carpets soaked, just damp, but make sure you go over your areas a few times just to ensure you get most of the water out.

    Fantastic unit, very pleased.

A professional cleaner told me to get this model as she has a lot of experience with carpet shampooers. The best thing about it is how light it is to carry , my old one was a back breaker. Once i worked out the liquid holders it was really easy and i love seeing the dirty water liquid holder showing how much grunge the machine has pulled out. It not only cleans well and gets rid of the marks it sucks back a lot of the moisture so its nearly dry and the brushes lift up the carpet pile making it look nearly new again. I like it .

Golden Review Award: 22 From Our UsersLove this product. Really brings the carpet back to life. Lifted the pile and powered through a stain of a dropped jar of instant coffee granules. Doesn’t overwet the carpet so it dries really quickly. I used a pre- spray of diluted carpet cleaner on any stains or high traffic areas. Only down side is that the water tank and recovery tank are quite small, but that’s the price you pay for having a smaller easier to store cleaner.

    Highly recommended

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis was bought to deal with the accidents that accompany having a young puppy as our larger Vax takes much longer to set up and clean when we need an instant response cleaner. Our low aspirations have however been more than met….this is a cleaner that can cope with larger areas with ease and, yes, you do have to mix the solution yourself( no automatic moxer as per the more expensive machines) but that is a small handicap.
Lightweight, easy to carry and manoeuvre, the modestly sized water tank still allows a medium sized room to be cleaned. If it runs out, refilling is however quick and easy to do.
The dual rotating brushes are really effective in working dirt out of the carpet and suction power is also good.
Much to our surprise, this could easily be our go to carpet cleaner for everyday use. Recommended.

I had a 12 foot run of wardrobes in both rooms which couldn’t be moved so replacing them would have been a nightmare. Before you even switch this machine on to use it, you will notice that the carrying handle is just about the most sensibly positioned you’ve ever encountered, which means that the height of the machine was considered. Engineers have always considered that simplicity is synonymous with ingenuity, and its true. This little VAX doesn’t have pumps, venturis and turbo this or that, it works on gravity for goodness sake. What could be simpler or more reliable than gravity? 10/10 for that.

If you push this machine forward, it cleans your carpet twice, if you pull it back over the same spot, it will have scrubbed your carpet clean four times. If you release the cleaning agent as you push it forward, it leaves the liquid in the carpet to soak. If you pull it back, it scrubs and removes the liquid as it goes.

Unlike some other machines, it doesn’t skimp on the cleaning agent, but it holds about 3-litres and will cover approximately 500 square feet, just over 152 square metres per filling. The instruction manual gives the user quite a few good tips too.

I have a very old professional vacuum cleaner, designed for hotels and the like. It sucks the carpet off the floor and then flays the life out of it. I have a Labrador dog that moults like there’s no tomorrow, especially in the heat of summer, brush it, bath it, do what you will … it still moults. You can vacuum your carpet all day long, but this little VAX will still fill its ‘chops’ with animal fur. From this respect, whilst you may consider your home truly clean, the VAX may prove otherwise.

Animal smells disappear from the floor and you only need to wash the cushion covers and furniture covers to complete the job to a truly immaculate standard.

This VAX does such a good job, it. will make you feel really proud of your home and even husbands like using this machine, because it makes them feel useful, they having made a difference.

In this instance, I think VAX have got just about everything right, the price, the quality, the reliability, its being simple to use, clean and care for, notwithstanding the ergonomics. Don’t spend a fortune, this little machine will serve you well, believe me.

The kids love it, as they can play with the water, the bubbles and pull a lever … and they stay clean too. Under supervision, they won’t come to any harm. Highly recommended for family use, especially where tiny tots are crawling around on the floor most of their waking hours. Stay clean, stay healthy is what I say.

Yes … a sensible product designed by sensible people. I don’t work for this company, I’m retired and have been for many years. I’m simply gob-smacked by this little machine i.e. one which I can actually afford. My carpets get an extraordinary amount of wear, what with kids traipsing mud in from the garden, the dog going bananas, not to mention the numerous accidents with cup spillage. Since owning this machine, you would never believe I had any visitors. You won’t be disappointed with this product. VAX have done me proud, and I’m truly grateful.

Decent build quality, very good performance for the cost, the waste water was disgusting so it works!

Carpets were left feeling bouncier and smelled much fresher. It did leave the carpets quite damp even after a few dry passes, however our carpets have a very tight short pile so I think it simply struggled for suction to remove moisture from deep down. The tanks are easy to fill, empty and clean out, which is good as you will need to do that a lot when cleaning larger areas!

I made a mistake when ordering as I thought this has a handheld attachment for upholstery but it does not. So be aware if that is a requirement for you!

Overall a solid purchase for the price point and will quickly pay for itself.

It works really well and the separate tanks for clean and dirty water were essential. The only issue, which other users have commented on, is that it is impossible to clean. In theory you should be able to remove the entire head by unscrewing it. But , there was one deep screw which just wouldn’t come out so…unable to clean . This is a problem as you’re left with a smelly implement full of wet fluff…and yes I did hoover thoroughly before using!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIt looks like them old fashion vacuum cleaners that people used in 70s. Heavy, difficult to carry, specially when filled with water. Very hard to store. Ive always hated those big vacuums and now I’ve got this. Anyway.

It does clean carpets and rugs as long as they are in a large flat surface. Goes through water and detergent like a thirsty day in the Sahara. Nightmare for stairs, really not appropriate.

It doesn’t leak which is a good thing. The extension cord is really good and it can reach most rooms from a single socket in a normal sized house. It’s very noisy and particularly when the dirty water tank is full. My lawnmower is more silent. My dogs panic every time I use this cleaner.

The water tanks are easy to remove and clean. The base of the device which accumulates all sorts is not removable, unless you unscrew all parts, to clean it. Plus the thing is transparent which is good to identify blockages but it’s mingy from first use. I managed to lift it and tilt it to gently hose it to remove a chunk of dirt but not all comes off unless you take it apart.

The design is faulty and not user friendly in many ways but if you’re strong, have where to store it and have a house without carpeted stairs then this is a good start cleaner. With carpeted stairs I’ll have to invest in a portable cleaner.

I just wished they learnt from the vaccum design and made a carpet cleaner that was light and functional like a vacuum cleaner, or even better a vacuum cleaner that could also turn into a carpet cleaner.

It does the job very well for the price. I cannot compare to others but this can be used for regular use of maintaining your carpet. My family moved to a house where the carpets had not been cleaned for a while and we had to wait a few months before we could change them. We got this and it made a big difference to the feel and
most importantly the air quality. The carpets felt renewed. We took two weekends and cleaned them twice. May take longer to clean than the industrial ones but it does save you some money if you are on a budget.

This is one of the best machines I have ever purchased: click the three pieces together in a few seconds – water compartments very easy to remove/insert. I used the Vax cleaning liquid and very quickly developed a good technique to spread the solution evenly. What instructions do not make clear is that after you have ‘soaked’ the carpet, you can then continue ‘hoovering up’ the dampness after the clean water tank is empty – this ensures you lift as much solution and therefore dirt as possible. My carpets look like new! I also treated a few stains with a stronger solution/hard brush before I started using the machine. I would not hesitate to recommend this product.

Last week I managed to step on a slice of beetroot and walk it over the carpet. I scrubbed at the stains but they wouldn’t budge. I brought out my Vax and went over them and the stains were gone. I clean it after use by turning it upside down in the bath and using the shower to get in all the nooks and crannies. Easy peasy. Much better than my last carpet cleaner!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersWow, I’m blown away with this carpet cleaner. You should see the colour of the water we’ve been emptying out of it! In addition to that we’ve had some nasty stains in the carpet (chilli and also crushed plums – don’t ask!) and it even got rid of them. It’s easy to assemble – you have to tighten three screws and that’s it. I has a separate clean and dirty water tank. The tanks take a bit of getting used to putting in and out but after a few goes it’s easy. One tip don’t unlock the side clips in the dirty tank until you’re ready to empty. I unhooked then before removing from the cleaner and spilled some of the dirty water! Not the fault of Vax but my own as I didn’t read the instructions. The instructions are really easy – handful of little pictures and text although to be honest you get the idea without really needing to refer much to them. You get a small 250ml bottle of fluid which is enough to clean a 2 level house. I’d ordered a third party cheaper fluid from Amazon at the same time and it’s just as good (even though Vax recommend there’s only). I considered the larger capacity more expensive Vax model and I’m glad I went for this instead. I find I have to empty the tanks twice for each floor in our house. I can live with that. At the time of writing we got it on sale for under 100 which is great. Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 338 From Our UsersI bought this cleaner on the recommendation of a friend. I have wanted a carpet cleaner for a while but thought that I couldn’t afford anything decent with my budget. I was wrong. It was really easy to put together with just three screws. It took me a minute to work out how to get the clean water tank into position but I soon worked it out. It came with a small bottle of cleaner which lasted a few washes. The only slight issue is that you have to change the clean water quite often but that’s the only issue I found. Considering our carpets hadn’t been cleaned in such a long time I was unsure how well it would worked but I was truly thrilled. It brought the carpets up left them beautifully clean. The suction is amazing too and when I accidentally overfilled the clean water tank and it spilled onto the carpet, the suction on the cleaner made short work of it. It got rid of a couple of bad stains with relative ease and left the carpet just damp.

A couple of things to look out for. Firstly make sure you hoover as thoroughly as you can as it goes deep and the cleaner the carpet the less chance of blockages. Listen out for the noises that the cleaner makes. A higher pitched sound indicates the clean water tank needs a refil and a kind of sucking noise, which I thought indicated a blockage, turned out just to indicate the dirty water tank needed emptying. Ignoring these sounds could cause the cleaner to overheat.

Overall though a brilliant little cleaner. I’m very happy.

Needed this because our new puppy is very fond of peeing on the carpet! He’ll learn…
This arrived without instructions, but it was easy enough to assemble and I went online and watched a YouTube video of how to use it.
It is definitely better than the Bissell machine it replaces; easier to fill and empty. It does remove pee and poo – eventually: the results are not instantaneous, and you do need to be patient. And do it slowly.
The main gripe is that the machine itself if so damn hard to clean. The cleaning head gets clogged with fluff from the carpet and there is no easy way to disloged it other than using fingers stuck into awkward spaces which is not very efficient.
Nonetheless, I think for the price it’s a good machine and the carpets do look a great deal better than before. 4 stars – easy-clean head would have got 5.

Golden Review Award: 194 From Our UsersThis cleaner is easy to assemble, the water tanks click in well once you have got the knack, which takes a couple of goes. The first time I used too much water, kept my hand on the trigger too long, but I soon adjusted. After a couple of cleans our living and dining areas look lovely and the grubby areas around seats and doors are much cleaner. the only drawback is the amount of fluff that accumulates around the brush housing. The only way to remove this is probably to remove all the screws and brush heads and wipe round the housing. I contacted Vax Support about it, but they couldn’t offer any solution. I manage to clean most of it out with my fingers and will unscrew and clean it after doing all my carpets. Generally very pleased with the machine apart from the fluff problem.

Golden Review Award: 97 From Our UsersGood product! We moved into a house with cream carpets and I knew it would cost a fortune to maintain if I had them professionally cleaned every so often so I made this investment. Just tried it and yes I can see a difference as well as the dirty water was black…the solution it comes with is not the best as there are 1 or 2 little stains on the carpet and these couldn’t be lifted. Apart from solutions for cleaning and pets, Vax needs to provide a stain lifting solutio

Golden Review Award: 451 From Our UsersI am so glad that I bought the Vax W86 Dual Power carpet cleaner as I no longer need to buy a new carpet. Using this machine is just as light as using my normal vacuum cleaner. Also not too noisy. As I have a long haired cat I found I needed to empty the dirty water tank as the filter got blocked, even though there wasn’t much water in the tank and I had vacuumed repeatedly before starting. This carpet cleaner finds deep down hair that the vacuum misses. It was easy to tell the filter was blocked as the noise from the cleaner became louder and it was unable to suck the water up. Once removed it sorted problem and it is simple to sort out, only took seconds to wash and replace the dirty water tank. I thought this information could be helpful to others. It is an excellent carpet cleaner much advanced to the previous models I have owned and so easy to clean. I can’t recommend this cleaner highly enough.

Golden Review Award: 49 From Our UsersOver the years i have had many Vax washers and i have never been as impressed as i am with this model
Long power cable, and reasonably light to push the washer. Glides easily over carpets, even works well on carpet tiles.
The real bonus for me is the front loading tanks and the power on off button being on the bottom and foot operated
As an older person with slipped discs and serious spinal problems, the foot on/off is brilliant. No bending
The front loading tanks are easy to remove, you can actually easily see how much solution is left in the shampoo tank. This is very different to other models i have owned where you have to try and see through a white plastic container, and tilt the machine forward to see
From my personal experience, and i was in 2 minds whether to buy a Vax again, this model is nowhere near as noisy as the others i have owned. No need for ear defenders.
The dirty water tank is so easy to remove and clean, again very different to the models where the base of the machine is the tank base and completely impossible to keep clean.
    The suction is amazing
I have not done it yet, but it does appear that the front nozzle of the machine that does the spraying and sucking up, can be unscrewed from underneath. This will hopefully enable proper machine maintenance and cleaning
So far i am very very impressed. My carpets have gone from dark beige back to their original pale mushroom and the pile is lifted like new
I hope this machine gives me many years use, as i need that with 3 dogs in the house.

The only warning i need to give is do not leave the machine standing with a full dirty water tank. Take it to a place where you dont mind if it drips mucky sludge. Its only a few drops that drip, but it is worth mentioning

Golden Review Award: 123 From Our UsersBought this to replace older model with broken catch. Far better design and lighter too. Older model needed a lot of pressure to collect shampoo but this one does it without any – the rollers help collect as well as brushing the carpet pile. Used once and got great results. Easy to fill shampoo tank and empty waste tank. Bought a couple of replacement belts as some people had problems with them. So far I am very happy with this Vax – time will tell.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHaving had my Bissel cleaner leak all over the place I decided to buy this to replace it. Arrived next day, easy to put together (3 screws).
Hovered the carpet before hand with my Shark (in my opinion the best hoover on the market) Easy to fill and put tank into place, not to heavy and surprisingly not too noisy!.

Cleaned the carpet really well and after a few passes left the carpet nearly dry, was suprised at just how much muck this thing sucks up considering its only a 800 watt! the powered brush’s really do the job, leaving the pile fluffed up as well!.
Draw backs. No hose or attachments to do stairs or furniture ( but in fairness I knew this when I bought it), head is as mentioned by others a bit of a pain to clean out, with a bit of forethought this could have been solved by Vax by making the top flip up!!.

Over all a good cleaner, time will tell if it leaks or fails, but so far I have cleaned 3 rooms and it is going strong!!.
Bit concerned that in the instructions it tells you how to replace the belt, is this going to be problem? and if so than maybe they should include a replacement?

Golden Review Award: 134 From Our UsersThis is tremendous. I have a big dirty dog and a 4 year old. My hall carpet gets filthy. I have hired rug doctor in the past but decided to invest in this. Im so glad i did. So quick and easy to use.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersCleaning the washer after use is easy if you just use a little imagination – just fill the bottom of the bath or shower (or other suitable tray) with a few mm of water and run the washer (with both tanks empty) over it. The washer only gets 4 stars because it doesn’t have the upholstery brush, which is really needed to get close in to the sides of walls.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersDecided to buy this product as I have a number of large rugs in my house which need cleaning at least once a year, and the price performance looked good from the other reviews. Arrived promptly and I was ready to run within 1/2 hr of the box arriving. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do, and it functions well. The only downside is cleaning ”the sharp end” mechanism after use. The first time I did it my kitchen floor became a swimming pool, and I had to take the rollers off to get all the dirt and clogged muck out. Vax advise vacuuming your carpet thoroughly before starting. I spent sometime with my uber powerful Dyson vacuuming before I started but the Vax is so powerful it really get’s deep down. The dirty water colour is a sobering sight. Overall happy, but cleaning requires patience.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI have just finished my first clean with carpet washer and I am delighted. We have carpets only upstairs and there is no shoes, no food, no drinks policy up there. Because I do clean very regularly with Dyson I thought it was going to be breeze and clean water in tank. Well, not exactly. To my surprise water came out a bit coffee latte-ish colour and loads of dust clumps. It must be said that living in countryside, I like open windows 24/7, hence probably dust and not so perfect Dyson.
You have to have a lot of patience, because there is a lot of re-filling and emptying of tanks, but that’s fine with me.
What bugs me is total imperfection of design in brushes area, which needs to be cleaned regularly, because it gets clogged by clumps of wet dust. Unless you have thin fingers, bad luck. We are not supposed to unscrew the plastic cover, as somebody suggested, so I am going to clean it with hose after I am finished. I also would have preferred to have an option to buy stairs part if I wanted, which I can not, so elbow grease for stairs it is..

Obviously does the job, because the dirty water container certainly contains…. dirty water! Comes with a small bottle of cleaning solution. Whatever it is that deposits the original solution on the carpet isn’t particularly even, so have had to keep going over areas again, and perhaps wish that I’d gone for the next one up with the upholstery attachments, but reasonably satisfied overall. Doesn’t take up too much room in the cupboard, no more than an average vacuum cleaner. Good value for the low price. Probably a good starter cleaner, especially if you have newish carpets that are in good condition, so that you can keep them clean by regular use. It’s done a fair job on the existing carpets inherited when I moved into my ‘new’ home too.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWell it arrived yesterday and typically I ripped the box apart as was desperate to clean my lounge carpet. I have an open fire and now again the room has filled with smoke and soot has gone on the carpet. The carpet looked filthy in places. It was easy to set up. The small bottle of shampoo provided is too small. It’s probably ok for a 10×10 ft carpet. I really need a 1.5ltr bottle as carpet is about 20ft x 10ft. I’ve noticed Sainsburys had it on offer for 3.99 but it sold out quickly. Amazon have it for 5.99 for 1.5ltr. Well it was easy to set up and has two easy to remove plastic water holders. One for clean and one for dirty water. I started using the machine and instantly just couldn’t believe what the dirty water looked like, it was practically black due to the smoke/soot. I ended up using a lot of the shampoo and needed to top it up a lot. On a normal carpet this won’t be as necessary. The results were fantastic it looks brand new again. My partner came home and couldn’t believe it. It only took a few hours to dry afterwards with the heating on full. I’m very impressed, great product.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersGiven that it’s best used slowly and is relatively noisy I will prepare myself with a music player and headphones next time.

As others have said, it’s a bit of a fiddle cleaning out around the brushes with your fingers but in this instance it was made worse by parts of the carpet producing a lot of fluff some of which got stuck in the suction port which runs across the front of the machine. These were removed by ‘piggling’ them out with a flexible bit of plastic and then flushing by pouring water back down the tube that is revealed when the waste tank is removed. I also gave the machine a final clean through by just running clean water through whilst it was switched on but standing still on the vinyl kitchen floor. There was a little bit of water to mop up but I was ready for that.

Worth noting that the brushes do not run the full width of the machine so some overlapping required.

It is much easier to use than our original ‘3 in 1’ Vax (big cylinder DIY vac thingy) and produces better results. Use it methodically and you should be pleased.
