I honestly can’t get in touch with vax, purchased this off amazon used it and was amazing, cleaned it out and all was good, used it again 2 weeks later and on filling top tank, the water just poured out of it and all through machine, a little black rubber ring has came off but we can’t figure out we’re from, can’t believe it’s already broken, need help

Worth the money
Not really the best for stair usage and leaves carpet a bit damp if you use to much cleaning solution but definitely worth the money. Don’t be put off.
Accidental front room flooding rectified because of this, and rest of the carpets left clean. Would recommend to anyone given the price point.

Terrible install
Stupidly put three identical, but only slightly different length screws in ONE BAG , only once you have been unlucky enough to thread the lower fixing without realising, then lose the smaller screw in the handle can you then start the fun of taking the handle to bits( not part of the install) and then plugging the over worn hole from the 1st screw with a cut down rawlplug so you can start again.
No parts list either, that would show the screws being different, beware!

Huge improveme
Just used this for first time today. Older version had given in after many years of use. I was pleasantly surprised (at the moment) how it has been improved. So much easier to clean after use too. Hope it lasts as long as my old one.

I purchased this in October 2020 to replace a Vax Rapide I owned which was leaking. I clean my carpet every 12 weeks or so because it is lightly coloured and I have pets. After two uses of this machine I turned it on and the brushbars stopped rolling and I smelt burning. It turns out the belt has snapped. I contacted Vax who advised me this is wear and tear. Not what I expected from a machine used twice. I bought a replacment belt and changed it. Immediately upon switching the machine on it snapped staining my carpet with a grey metallic like stain and stinking the house out. Again I contacted Vax to be told maybe the brushbars need replacing. These are 20 a piece I managed to get one cheap on eBay and the machine worked once then the belt snapped again. So in less than a year I have gone through 2 brushbars and 4 belts. The machine is absolute crap. I have taken it to the tip and bought a Bissell instead. I do not recommend this. Another point to make is it is very difficult to clean the machine after use so it gets clogged up with dust and pet hair.
It cleans carpets!
Easy to use with a good lifting handle. It does pick up a lot of fur and fibres which stick to the casing around the rollers and it would be better if you could clean that out easier. But I do find it very effective in cleaning my carpets.
Really effective
Used this Carpet cleaner for two large cream- coloured rugs. I went really slowly and followed the advice found in previous reviews plus the instructions. As they have not been cleaned for years, they needed a really good clean so it took me around 1 hour per rug 3 x 2m. The suction is amazing. Hardly any water left in the rug which meant quick drying time. All the stains came out and the rugs looked like new. Excellent result.

Super duper carpet cleaner!!
This product is a life changer!! Honestly today was the first time I’ve used it and it’s made a huge difference to the carpets!! All the dust/muck and other bits have literally come off the carpet and it’s super clean! It doesn’t leave behind any dampness but I am following the instructions but overall I think it’s amazing!! Definitely recommend! I would like to see other scents for the carpet solutions; vanilla, sweet scents etc because I haven’t found any yet.

SAVED THE DAY
Initially I bought the VAX as my dishwasher sprun a leak and I needed to suck up the water. It was fantastic. I have since used it to clean a few carpets – the results were amazing. I was actually embarrassed as to how dirty the waste water was. Still I now know my carpets are nice and clean!!
Take your time and will get the best results
Would have paid a bit extra for accessories to do stairs and other smaller areas like sofa. Carpets came up lovely. Need to take it slowly to get the best results so does take a long time but worked better than my previous older vax model.

Purchased this item and two main handle assembly screws missing and after numerous calls Vax posted them.On assembly I noticed the upper cord storage hook was missing.Called Vax only to be told they could not supply as it was an old model and directed me to speak to Amazon.I was adised to return a whole unit for a small part missing,so much for saving the planet with all the costs involved,so beware of the age of a machine before buying as Vax will wash its hands of any responsibility.The machine,by the way does a great job but dread if I need any spare parts.

This seems quite good and it has transformed a tired old living room carpet which was otherwise on the verge of being replaced. The dual brush action helps and certainly shows our normal Henry Hoover which I always thought quite highly of, isn’t doing a great job at all.
A few things to be aware of, though…
1. It is very noisy though I guess most carpet shampooers are.
2. You cannot attach any tools to it, so no good for doing odd corners or stairs etc.
3. The tanks are quite small and I had to refill the clean water tank twice to do a 20ft x 20ft living room carpet. Also not nearly as much water comes back out of the carpet as goes in.
It does also seem very lightweight in construction, with cheap looking plastic pedals and “deadman” for the water pump. Though I guess once the carpet is thoroughly cleaned it will only see use a few times a year.

Really good carpet cleaner brought as my old one packed up and so happy i did as you can see from the pictures its like night and day (egnore the mess in background please tidying up lol) but couldnt recommend this enough will up daye in a month 😀

Easy to set up. Good value. Easy to clean. I hoovered well first as I have dogs, but was able to clean easy enough using a hose to clear the hard bits. Doesn’t dry carpet as well as others I have tried, despite going over the carpet just on suction after cleaning. 2 clean lots of water out, only 1/4 sucked back in..

Excellent Cleaner for the price.
Great carpet cleaner at a very good price. Easy to assemble and light weight. The cleaner does a great job using the provided shampoo but also worked well with a generic shampoo.
The only draw backs are the small capacity of the tanks that mean you need to refill the cleaning fluid tank and empty the dirty water quite regularly.
The end results have impressed me a great deal and it leaves the carpet fairly dry after cleaning.

So i decided this was something i needed and at the price this Vax will pay for itself with two cleans. One star taken away because when doing the asembly i discovered there was no screw hole (just one) to bolt the lower section to the second clean water section. But an easy job for the drill. Its also worth noteing that i found the amazon /vax videos more helpful than the instruction booklet supplied. This cleaner is just the right size for a two bedroom flat as it has a norrow head that can get into the samll areas, and when not in use i can unscrew the handel section for easier storage. Plus you get a free small bottle of Vax cleaning soution with it so no need to get exta for a while. There are chaeaper on the market but this Vax looks a sterdy maching and easy to strip down and clean. . All in all im happy with the purchase

I’ve got two children and a dog so I knew it would be bad, I didn’t expect it to get it so clean though! Although you do have to keep topping up the clean water and emptying it every few mins I’d be saying it’s too heavy so for me I like the capacity because it makes it lightweight. It’s easy to move around and gets up real close to the sides so you don’t need to worry it’s going to cut edges out.
As you can see in a photo it really did collect up a lot of fluff and dirt and dirty water. I am amazed and so glad I got it!
Only downfall is that it does leak a lot from behind, I certainly couldn’t fill it to max because it was worse. I’m going to eventually buy some glue and hope it helps. Easy to clean the brushes and cut off any hair and big enough to get a knife underneath to scrape away any dirt collected. So easy to use and very happy with the results after only one use!

Great job but can't do stairs
This is a great carpet cleaner. It did a great job on our heavily walked on hallway and living room carpets. However it doesn’t have a stair attachment or anywhere to put one so it can’t clean stairs. Wish I’d realised this before purchasing

Bought this some months ago and it’s been in use almost every day (in elderly relative’s room!). Dirty water tank much easier to empty than in my old vax carpet cleaner (bought over 10 years ago). Clean water tank easy to fill. Lightweight machine with heavyweight cleaning power. The only reason I didn’t give 5 star rating is because it is very difficult to clear all the fluff collecting arouind the brushes, and leaves small puddles of water on floor when left standing to empty tanks!. Highly recommended

My Vax arrived a day early and I couldn’t wait to try it as we had had building work done in the lounge so my Wilton was filthy! Put it together pretty easily although one screw hole seemed to be missing and we had to force through the screw to get this last one in. Once it was together and we filled the tank it was a dream to use, being lightweight and see through tanks, you can easily keep check on how far you can clean on one 1 litre tank. We had to empty the dirty water after the 2nd 1 litre fill up as it made the sound warned about in the brochure. Easy to take the tank out and clean them and off you go again. The carpet was pretty dry after we finished and the carpet was 100% cleaner. Very pleased with it. Only time criticism was the trigger was quite stiff to press to release the shampoo. By the way, the small bottle of shampoo supplied is only big enough to clean one room carpet, we managed to do our lounge with it which is 16′ x 15′, so not bad, but I had already ordered the 4 litre bottle because we have several carpets to do. It is easy to use and due to its light weight, it is very easy to manoeuvre My husband is 74 and managed it easy. So glad I decided to go for this at this competitive price. I have had Bex Bissell’s before which were good but very heavy to push around so I was glad I went for the Vax. I took out the 3yr guarantee too which for 15 was a snip! Only other thing to say, I wondered how I can clean inside the head of the cleaner as loads of gunge seem to collect inside the plastic head and it is not easy to flush it out. Presume we will have to dismantle the rollers to get at it properly, otherwise I can foresee problems with the head getting blocked up!

Used this at home and doing a deep clean at an empty property. Took the Dyson DC40 (700 watts) upright and a Titan wet/dry ‘tradesman’ hoover from Screwfix along as well. The Shark did a much better job on normal household than the Dyson despite having only 50W extra power. The Titan at 1100 watts and a big bag was reserved for the really bad stuff. Overall very impressed with the Shark

Bought to clean all the dried up milk etc out of our toddlers carpet as it was verging on petrification at this point (honestly kids are disgusting arent they!!)
Anyway, this has done an amazing job of lifting the muck from his floor and also all the other carpets in the house came up like new.

For the price, an excellent carpet cleaner for regular use.

Great cleaner but on a not too dirty carpet picked every bit of fluff and dirt despite pre hoovering and then spewed all the dirty bits out as u continued to use it over a beige carpet going item but that was disappointing.Does clean well

I wish this worked on stairs or had an attachment you could connect to use on stairs as I now have muddy paws on the stairs but lovely carpet the rest of the place. If you use their solution not only do you get clean carpets it also smells amazing! I have a very sensitive nose and I love going upstairs after using it. It dries the carpet surprisingly fast and wow does it find a lot of dog hair even after a vacuum
Powerful and easy to use
Having previously had a larger Vax I decided to go for something smaller in the hope that it would be easier for me to use as I am only 5 foot tall and the larger one was too big and heavy really.
This little machine is fantastic. Even though it is much lighter, shorter and smaller than the previous one it cleans just as well, if not better as it gets into smaller spaces. I was so fed up with all the bulky alternatives which if you are of shorter stature make life difficult, this little beast is perfect and so easy to use.
Absolutely recommend I have a really large bungalow and have no problems, with this powerful little machine, cleaning all the carpets in one day.

Easy to use
Like the separate tanks for clean and dirty water,nice and light to use don’t have stairs and to be honest I don’t think it would be great to use on the stairs. Have not found a way to remove the plastic bit at the front so I can clean it.overall it does a decent job
Does a good job
Only difficulties are removing and replacing water containers but once you have the knack it is OK! However main criticism is that it is very difficult to clean around the brushes and extract build up of fluff and dirt.
Lightweight, easy to move and does do a good job.

I was sceptical about buying it as thought it wont be up to much for that price. I was soooo surprised by how great it is. The carpets are 5 and 7 years old and were flat. This has brought the pile back up. Carpets were cleaned a year ago after hiring a rug cleaner, The assembly so.easy. using it even easier. I hoover my carpets everday due to having a white dog and white cat. Using this brought up hairs that must have been embedded in the carpet. Very impressed with this machine and highly recommend. Carpets look and smell fab

Vax Carpet cleane
This carpet does not clean carpets. I wanted a new carpet for my bedroom but decided it might be too costly so decided to clean the old one instead. But the Vax did not clean the carpet.. I think it is probably meant for freshening up rather than cleaning. I will be returning it soon.

Bought this from Amazon Warehouse. It was a bit cheaper and I didn’t notice any defects whatsoever. It’s heavier than I thought it would be. The 2 water tanks, one for clean, one that sucks up the dirty water are tricky to get in and out. I took the dirty one out after cleaning a rug and promptly dropped it onto the clean rug! Oh dear, not good, had to put it all together again and suck up the dirty water. It doesn’t have any attachment to do the stairs. I did realise this before I bough it though. It does come with a small bottle of the cleaning solution. If you follow the instructions and be sure to suck up as much dirty water as possible, it does a good job and isn’t too difficult to use. Not much worse than a normal Hoover. I think it will be a useful item to have and save paying for someone to come in and clean the carpets. Some of my carpet is wool. This does tend to pick up the excess wool and get stuck under the clear plastic front over the brushes. Then it spews this out all over. You have to bend down and just pick it up. This isn’t a problem with the non wool carpets though.

I used my shampoo cleaner for the first time this afternoon and I’m very impressed. It was easy to fill and so easy to use. I was rather impressed with the dirt that came out of my hall carpet. It’s very easy to take apart to clean too. I had no issues registering my VAX. The website was on one of the flaps on the box. I would definitely recommend this cleaner.

Really excellent and easy to use.
Easily put together, though I dont like having to build things like this – but really it was simple. Instructions are great and easy to follow. Took a wee while to get the hang of the ’tilt’ to get the water container and the dirty water container back in place but once you work it out it is easy. Made a real difference to the carpets. I am very pleased with this and the price was well worth it. It was lovely to get a small bottle of carpet shampoo with the cleaner so I was able to use it straight away. Oh and delivery was a day before I expected it so all in all I am a happy bunny.

No go on stairs, otherwise good.
Works really well, so well it got clogged up with cat hair that my vacuum obviously couldn’t pick up. It was hard to clean this out, tipped it over the bath and used the shower head to clear it out.
You can’t do the stairs with it , so that’s really the only downside. Plus its made in China.
A great machine
A great machine cleans carpet well that’s not been cleaned for 15 years it left it looking fresh. Machine is heavy at first when fill wuth water and detergent but easy to push round. Stairs could do with a longer hose as it only reaches 8 steps.

We use it on plain carpet, it does spray water and tries to suck water, rotating brushes do clean and pick up hairs but not a 100 % as it should not be expected on first wash.
It has thin front nozzle to suck water back into dirty jar which sort of works like vacuum, but don’t expect to be a good vacuum.
Overall, easy to use, effective.

The first time I used it I was trying to get maximum soap onto the carpet by continuously using the spray trigger. This resulted in the machine overheating and tripping my circuit breaker. I put it aside for the night, looked into returning it and was going to pack it up. The next day I tried it again but only sprayed water going forward, released trigger, and pulled machine back to suck up water. No more over-heating or tripping circuits. It’s a slow process but it works. My runner by the front door was filthy and the dirt that came out in the waste water container was amazing. Might need to go over it again, it was so dirty, but I can’t fault the cleaner. It is working.

Item dispatched well before expected date – thanks. Assembly took longer than expected. One of the retaining screwholes for top unit was not drilled out to receive screw. This needed doing, but grannie would have been stumped! In use on my through lounge carpet it is a joy, and collected vast amounts of dirt. I wish I had bought it sooner to use regularly on high foot traffic areas. Very powerful suction and easy to clean- recommended.

Ideal for a freshen up of the carpe
It light weight so good and easy to use cleaning wise not to bad, but u still have to use a scrubbing brush. Be better in a home that don’t have kids or pets and just wants to do a freshen up. And suction took my carpet 2 days to dry

The head does not come off easily to clean, which many probably found disappointing. You can get it off by unscrewing 7 screws underneath…
I tipped the machine on its side out in the garden and poured water underneath… I also poured water down the front hose and it rinsed away all the residue. No mess indoors and the head was clean!
For the price, I am happy with my purchase.

The cleaner is pretty straightforward and quick to assemble from packaging to use. If you have a small house with an average number of rooms with carpets or rugs it’s ideal. I’m hindsight, I wished I’d bought the Vax Platinum model which has a specific detachable head specifically for cleaning stairs and also included steam cleaning options for hard floors. Doing stairs with this machine isn’t impossible but it’s a real struggle. I also keep forgetting to squeeze the solution trigger on the push and releasing it on the pull….! Overall, I would recommend this machine as a basic entry level piece of kit. The colour of the water after just the first attempt on a medium sized rug proves it works. When it’s full of cleaning solution it’s not the lightest to take upstairs. For the pricehowevr I can forgive it’s shortcomings

Very happy with this carpet cleaner which has saved money on getting in a professional. Easy to use and carpet dried quickly afterwards. I haven’t worked out if I could use it in stairs as there are no attachments. Fiddly to clean without unscrewing the rollers, but overall a good buy.

I paid 119 and it was worth every penny!
Superb for light use
I had the older version of this cleaner without the revolving brushes and it just about did the job. Now this is the business for cleaning our carpets which don’t get heavily dirty. We have a bungalow so can’t really say what it’s like on stairs but without tools I imagine it’s not too good.
We used to pay 40 a room but this will save us in the long run. Happy with our purchase.

Very light and easy to carry up and down the stairs, the suction is powerful and cleans well. Extremely easy to dispose of dirty water and the container which also holds the water, cleans easily. The carpet cleaner comes with a bottle of cleaning solution ready to use. Easy to store as it’s not bulky.

Vax Dual Power Carpet Cleaner, 2.7 Litre, 800 W
This replaces my previous Vax “Agility” carpet cleaner, a misleading name because it was quite a monster and not at all convenient to use. I was hesitant in buying this newer one because I thought it might be the same … but it isn’t. It’s smaller, actually the same size as a normal vacuum cleaner. The fact it’s light and convenient to use means that you are more likely to use it instead of it just sitting in a cupboard.
There are plenty of instructions about how to use it, but do look at the product videos (under the product image at the top of this page), they are useful. In particular they give advice that isn’t in the instruction booklet, like the recommendation to go over the carpet again after cleaning with clean water in the tank. I know from my own experience that detergent left in the carpet tends to attract dirt, making the carpet dirtier quicker.
Cleaning the machine after use can be a bit difficult. The clear plastic at the front is the duct that sucks up the water/cleaner out of the carpet, and it gets dirty inside. The instructions are silent about how to clean this, and that’s because it’s not removable (on the old Agility model it was) so no easy way to clean it. I found that using a hosepipe (outside and carefully!) directed up under the machine did wash all the mess out.
This new cleaner does a similar good job in cleaning as my old one, but it’s small, lighter and more convenient. I recommend it.
This Vax is a piece of cake to put together, assembly involves 3 screw, if you can’t cope with that, I’m sure sure you should be adulting without supervision 🙂 Be careful unclipping the lower tank I absentmindedly unclipped all the clips and spilt it all over the floor, fear not clearing it up took seconds.
So whats good?
1._Its not very noisy, it’s carpet cleaner they all tend to be louder than the average vacuum cleaner.
2._Its easy to assemble.
3._The cleaner it comes with is great and really forgiving, it says 40ml per litre but don’t worry I messed up and must have put 140ml maybe 150ml into a 2 litre solution…it didn’t bleach my carpets or cause any harm, the 40ml is just the most efficient mix for value for money overdoing it costs you a few pennies because you’ll buy more cleaner a bit quicker…it’s no big deal really.
5._It’s easy to fill and refill and to empty, to make life easy when you buy this buy a cheap measuring jug that has at least 1 litre capacity and a 10-100ml measure.
6._It’s POWERFUL! You’ll see from the attached photos that it picks up, or rather draws out a lot of fluff from the carpets, this is all dirty fluff as you’ll see so while its powerful it’s also gentle and hasn’t damaged my carpets.
So what’s not so good?
1._It has a small capacity the top tank holds 2 litres and the bottom roughly the same however because of the run through and carpet absorption etc, for my carpets i could do 2 top loads ever time i emptied the bottom load. You will empty this frequently i’m afraid but doing so is quick and easy and look at the pictures, see what I was emptying out…it’s clearly doing a good job.
2._It leaves fluff behind, quite a lot of it, my advice, have a vacuum cleaner on stand by to quickly suck up this fluff, yes the Vax isn’t sucking it all up but at least it’s doing what my vac can’t which is pick up this fluff, which my vac seemed to such hide amongst the carpet fibres, with this Vax there is nowhere to hide 🙂
Advice
1._Pre clean carpets with a vacuum cleaner and have it standby to pick up that stray fluff.
2._Empty the lower tank down the toilet not the sink…fluff will clog your plug hole.
3._Make long slow fluid strokes, hold the trigger when you push it forwards, let the handle go and pull back in a continuous motion.
4._When you remove the tank note that you are tilting it to extract it, putting it back in is the reverse, bottom in first then the top and make sure you hear it click into place and that it is smoothly aligned.
5._The cap at 3/4 full (for the bottle that comes with the Vax is roughly 40ml).
6._If you struggle to find a measuring jug but have a 1Kg baking tin and a funnel to hand remember a 1Kg of water is the same as 1 litre 🙂

Super suction and easy to use.
Firstly, like a Dalek it doesn’t do stairs, there’s no attachment for them so I only gave it one star for that bit.
But the rest of it is amazing and I’m so glad I bought this. It’s simple to use and squirts and sucks with ease. Powerful suction on this bad boy, it really is a strong vacuum. I have cats and I think I could have made a kitten out of the amount of wet fur it inhaled out of my rugs. Just get one, you won’t regret it.
Good lightweight cleane
Having just replaced the heavier Bex Bissell carpet cleaner with this lightweight model I appreciate its mobility and ease of use. Although the separate reservoirs are slightly fiddly to install and remove nevertheless it cleans carpets very efficiently and with minimum fuss. Our grubby hall carpet does come up a treat after using the Vax. All in all it’s great value for money and cleans extremely well. Highly recommended. Maybe the next model will have a removable housing to facilitate cleaning. It would then definitely earn five stars from me
The instructions are pretty basic and I found myself having to learn a few things as I went along.
1. Don’t use too much cleaning fluid. If you do, it stops the machine from being able to suck up the dirty water properly for some reason. This is very important – I thought there was something wrong with mine until I realised.
2. Get your carpet as clean as you can before the first time you use this machine. The amount of gunk it picks up will probably mean you have to spend some time cleaning it out afterwards. There seems to have been an earlier model where the nozzle was removable and easier to clean than this version.
3. Do a rinse after you’ve cleaned your carpet using the fluid. Fill the clean water tank with water and go round again. You’ll be surprised how much shampoo and dirt is still there to be taken up.
4. Prepare to feel ashamed of how dirty your carpet was before you got this! Mine is vacuumed every day by my robot, but the dirty water tank on this thing really showed me how much dirt was hiding in amongst my carpet fibres.
With those things learned I’m very pleased with it. My house is small and the front room is a very high-traffic area. I’ve also got a dog. I’m delighted with how much better the room looks, and it feels good to know that all of the dirt I’ve poured down the sink isn’t on my floor any more.
What a carpet cleane
I never realised how filthy my carpet was !!! My carpet cleaner arrived less than 24 hours after ordering which was fantastic. However I did not expect to have to construct the cleaner but it proved quite simple to put together. After first use there were a few pros and cons. First the cons. The water and solution dispenser was too small, although 2litre+ capacity seems large. It took four tankfulls to do just one carpet. So it used a lot of solution to do one carpet. Handle length was bit on the short side so by end of carpet cleaning one aching back. pros – it does what it says in the paperwork – it really does what it says provided you don’t try to clean carpet in double quick time – go slowly ang give solution chance to break down dirt before vacuuming up as much water as possible- it also quickens up drying time. Taking water and solution tanks off is easy putting back slight fiddly – if not put on correctly expect to get your feet washed. Weight is perfect and and easy to manoever. Overall a very good product reasonably priced and relatively easy to use.
