Very good value for money efficiency as does not use a lot of electric as does a kettle .and you can make as much tea coffee hit drinks as you like ,and it also come in different sizes as in mine is a 3.2L you can get larger thermos ,you can change heating ,reboil and some have timers on them so when you wake up in the morning you can make a lovely hot cup of tea ,without waiting for the kettle to boil ,its quite easy and on tap

    Tea time
An essential addition to any kitchen if you drink lots of tea or coffe. You will always have hot water ready when you need it. Can be used for rinsing rice or making gravy for instance. A lot Cheaper than boiling kettles !

    Easy to use
The new Addis Thermo Pot has a revised interface. The Clean button is replaced with a button called Select. This operates a menu system which includes a delay timer, clean and auto-cool.
Delay timer: There was some criticism of the older units that they had no timer. This unit can delay the start of heating by 3hr, 6hr, 9hr or 12hr so for a morning cuppa at, for example, 06.00 AM the timer must be set to 9hr at 09.00PM or 06.00 at midnight. In my view a simple timer switch would do a better job but Addis have responded to the criticism.
Auto-cool: This option disables the Keep Warm function but keeps the power to the dispensing system. When there is no more use for heated water, the heater can be switched off but the Dispense button still will operate. This saves on unnecessary water heating while still being able to dispense water in the normal way.
Auto Clean still works as before.
Addis have tried to respond to all the criticism of the older model and, in my view, have produced a very practical unit, easy to use and much more versatile.

A great replacement for a kettle.
My other half drinks tea, lots of tea so the kettle is always on in our house. Then our friend said get one of these, they have one and it’s amazing. It boils quickly and keeps things at the right temperature forever. We have an issue with ours though which we believe was caused by the delivery company the temperature button doesn’t work, the overlay was hanging off, it sticks down but the temp button has been damaged. We did try and raise this and the delivery driver was given clear instructions about delivery and kept trying to deliver when we weren’t in eventually when it turned up late our neighbour said he witnessed the driver dropping the parcel on the floor not once but a couple of times. They then lied and said the package was handed to a neighbour yet it was left in clear view of people passing our front door until we returned at around 11pm. Our neighbour didn’t take it in as he was on his way out. When we raised it with the courier company they couldn’t care less and told us to prove it!

    Addis 3.5l water heate
Only had this a week but I am very happy with it. Far better than my previous one cup dispenser which I had to keep topping up. I only fill this once a day. It goes down to 95 degrees before it heats back up to 98 but if you scroll through the temp settings and back to 98 then the water heats up to 98 straight away very quickly. Wish I’d bought it years ago.

This is my second after the first one died after about 5 years. It’s so convenient and I personally prefer this to the hot water taps you get fitted. First got it when our first child was born to make it easier in the night to warm bottles etc. now they’re old enough not to need the night feeds but working from home most days means tea on tap.

I bought this to replace a smaller boiler with a pre set cup size, mainly because wife and son seem unable to grasp the concept it needed to be refilled periodically and every time I went to it I had to refill it. This device is bigger so topping up midday and just before going to bed works well, there is no waiting for it to boil, amount used is flexible so if you use a different size cup/mug there is no problem so I am very pleased with it. I have not been able to check how energy efficient it is. The only down side is size. I had to change location within the kitchen because the open lid would not fit under the cupboard above. Otherwise no problems!

The ideal hot water dispenser for me.
I use it constantly for hot drinks, offers a broad scale of temperature adjustment, saves energy, easy to fill and use any time of day or night. Am very happy with this purchase – it meets all my needs (unlike some others I’ve tried). Would recommend this unit to people with reduced ability to lift/pour/fill a kettle with limited access to refill.

Short Life Span ... 3 yrs If Your Lucky !
This is my second water boiler of this particular style, but not the same brand, as so many seem to be producing this item in varying styles. My first one gave up the ghost after about 3 years of constant use, so I tried a canteen style boiler with a gravity spout, and didn’t like the noisy tank one bit . This one is a pure pleasure, it features a high level spout, which make is really east to fill almost anything, its much more energy efficient due to the water compartment being insulated, it is so quiet you don’t even realise its actually on, and also when it re-heats it’s really quiet ! You can also choose from five different temperature settings, along with a re-boil setting, it has a one touch unlock for dispersing water, and an auto-relock when finished. There is really not much to not like about this water boiler, it ticks all the boxes for me. If there is one piece of advice I could give, and that’s to de-scale it on a regular basis, as you do notice a slight difference in taste if you don’t !

We changed to one of these instead of a kettle a few years ago. Safety for hubby as he scolded himself carrying the kettle to the sink. He’s disabled and doesn’t remember things, he’s older now and his habits won’t change.

So after 10 years we needed a new one. This is the one we chose. The same model.

    We trust this one.

Easy to use. Energy efficient and hold a good capacity.

    Best thing since sliced bread
I cannot praise this device enough it’s an absolute godsend very easy to use can be left I’m 24/7 and hardly uses any electricity compared to the kettle it’s very stylish with a selection of temperatures, you can top it up as you co along or wait until you have almost emptied it. It is almost totally automatic. You can dispense water by using the cup under the outlet or you can press the large button to dispense water and a neat feature is if you want to you could take it outside with no electricity at all and you got a hand pump on the top so you could use it at a barbecue and of course during a power cut. It comes in two sizes a 3 ltr or as I bought being home all the time a 5 ltr.
I would highly recommend this machine and think every home should Have one.

Yes you can make a cup of tea with it!
Pros – After 3 years of constant daily use our very hard water supply caused the pump to fail. Why is that a Pro? because after some initial confusion Addis customer service dept. sent me a new pump! Thats 5 Star Plus customer service! (Many thanks to Kelly & Ryan). New pump Installed and our Thermo Pot is working perfectly again, here’s to another 3+ years!
Obvious Pro is the hot water on tap when you fancy a cuppa, no waiting for a kettle to boil.
Cons – Umm… just user errors (me) really. Take care when filling it! If water splashes over the back its likely to find its way into the power lead socket at the back, blowing fuses / tripping RCD’s and so on. Also never overfill! if you do then when the water boils it will likely come out of the safety vent at the back of the lid, so a scalding hazard and the water over the back heading for the plug again. A minor design change of a diverting ‘lip’ above the power lead socket might stop people like me getting water into it.

I am so glad I decided to buy this and really wish I had bought it sooner. I bought the large one, even though there are only two of us. Hot drinks whenever I want them, easy to top up saucepans when cooking on the hob etc. The dispenser is very easy to top it up with cold water and it doesn’t take very long before it is back up to temperature and ready to use again. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Idea - Great Replacement for a broken One-Cup Dispense
We bought this after our second Breville One Cup crapped out on us. The first Breville kept spewing out boiling water continuously and was lethal; the replacement then stopped after the plastic valves deteriorated.

So the Addis is slightly different. Rather than just boiling at 3KW each time you want a cuppa, the Addis maintains the water at the selectable temperature, so is always ready instantly.

It holds 3.5 litres, so easily sees us throughout the day and evening. We just top it up at night and it’s full for the next day. As soon as you top it up, it reboils if necessary.

The unit is also a thermos, so this insulates the hot water and keeps it hot, so the energy costs are lower than boiling the kettle or using a one cup each time you want a cup.

It has an electric pump that dispenses either when you hold the cup or mug against the dispenser, or you can manually hold a button to dispense (great if you need to add some hot water to a soup or when making gravy).

Another great feature is the fact that there is a manual pump dispenser incorporated, so you could unplug the unit and take this with you. It also has a carrying handle. So great if you want to take it out for trips and want a hot drink – just unsecure the latch and press the large centre area int he lid and it will pump out the hot water as needed.

A totally brilliant piece of kit, far better than the one-cup we had.

As for cleaning – it even comes with a bottle of citric acid – but you can buy a bag of this from Amazon for a 5-6. Easy to follow instructions – just put some citric acid crystals in when topped up and let it clean, flush through and you are good to go – they recommend this once a month. You only use about 3 teaspoons of citric acid each clean, so very economical.

This is great if you have company – another advantage over a one-cup – as you have up to 3.5 litres of hot water available to get everyone a cuppa and have spare, as opposed to having to boil a one cup for each cup you need.

Overall very impressed with it and highly recommended.

Excellent product that I had for over five years, but the only problem I had was the extreme build up of limescale in my area, which disintegrated the plastic parts in the lid. However, I purchased a new one and make sure I descale more frequently.

No more waiting for the kettle to boil
I’m physically disabled so struggle to lift a full kettle. This thermo pot gets round that problem. I have it on a timer switch so it comes on and gets up to full temp before I get up in the morning and then switches itself off in the evening.

The large tank (3.5l) gives twice the capacity of a standard kettle and the water is dispensed at the touch of a button.

Brilliant addition to my kitchen that allows me to have much more independence.

Best hot water dispenser I've ever used
It is easy to fill, ridiculously easy to clean and the water level gauge is readable even when I stumble into the kitchen first thing in the morning bleary eyed because I’ve forgotten my glasses. The hot water comes in a nice steady stream with no spitting and sputtering, a nice change from what I was assumed the norm judging from other hot water dispensers I’ve had. The capacity is more than enough for both my tea addict husband and culinary use. Husband, whose blood group would probably show as 98% Tetley’s, says it makes a cracking good cuppa. The low running cost is a bonus.

Excellent but there are some hidden costs.
This is a brilliant idea but let’s get some correct information. The adverts say it uses 2 watts to keep the water hot. This is untrue. It uses 100 watts to keep the water hot. It costs about 50watts per hour to do this. Obviously it needs to be filled up when empty and then it will take 30 minutes to boil 5 litres of water (using 680 watts). The dispenser works very well and delivers the water quickly. The hand pump option is very weak and not worth bothering with. It is insulated and the sides do not get too hot to touch but more insulation would have reduced the running costs. Because I have solar panels I can run this for free and this is main reason for getting it.

I’ve been using this product for a few months now and I’m very satisfied with it, especially in lockdown with the regular tea refills. I’ve cleaned the interior once with vinegar, which was effective (after leaving it to sit for a few hours to remove the limescale build-up). The interior and lid have remained rust free and it runs silently and efficiently on my kitchen countertop. I have the large size and enjoy the immediacy of hot water, not just for drinks, but for filling cooking pots also. I highly recommend the product having first used it in Japan, where they are very common in ryokans for guest use.

Great pot does what it says, love the instant hot water for drinks. Lasted 3 years, started to smell like burning wire inside the top where electrics are. Did not cut off at the plug, good job we smelt it could have started a fire. Addis really not that bothered…. Just saying it’s out of guarantee. Addis customer services stated they had never heard of this fault before, however despite the fact that it could have caused an electrical fire, they never even asked us to supply the pot to investigate further. Bought another, as they are great, made in Germany not Addis brand!

  66. DarbyGouger says:

Does not have auto dispense function as advertised.
Bought as a replacement for ecostar thermo pot that bit the dust after ten years faithful service. Firstly not as well built lid and hinge function a bit vague so you can sometimes not close it properly and not notice until you have steam pouring out the top.
No auto dispense function even though it was advertised to have one which means no one handed operation unless you want water splashing everywhere because you have to put the cup on the counter whilst dispenceing, very irritating for this multitasking female who has been making tea one handed for the last ten years.
Occasionally has a hissy fit following power cuts which are common here, reboils its self several times before it calms down and allows you to access the water.
Only time will tell if I spent my money well but I somehow doubt it will be ten more years before i replace this one.
