The sound quality is absolutely amazing for the price. It is probably my favourite pick for condenser microphones at a budget. Great pick if you want one with good sound quality.

Excellent product. I’m certainly no expert but I’ve been a musician for many many years and have owned a wide assortment of mics, both dynamic and compressor, and this is the best one I’ve ever owned and it performs wonderfully. The build quality is also superb.

Fantastic Mic better than most Mics twice as much
I Love this Mic as it is fantastic in build quality and voice quality. I have a few other mics that cost much more but this mic performs brilliantly in every department. A bit sensitive if you don’t have a treated environment as expected. This mic is worth it every penny.
Clean and Crisp sound
Bought this last month for vocal recording.
Audio quality: Very clear sounding audio with a very balanced sound. Using with my scarlett solo at around 1’O clock gain. Great for vocal recording with minimum noise.
Body: Build quality is top notch and the mic is all metal body.
Accessories: XLR to XLR cable wasn’t included so had to buy separately. Neither was a shock mount. But attachment for mic stand was included.
Overall: Worth buying! Great mic which could’ve been even more expensive with regard to its quality. Go for it with eyes closed
Very impressed
I’m by no means an expert on audio, being a filmmaker/editor, but I also need to do a fairly substantial amount of audio work due to the relatively independent nature of some of the gigs I do.
I’ve briefly used the AT2020 on my voice and others’ voices as well as some other stuff. I only received the AKG p120 today and have only tested it with my voice, but i think i prefer this over the AT2020. Not sure about other things, and it might just be my untrained ear.
Way better than the Samson c-01 mic and the cheaper behringer mics though.
P.S. this mic doesn’t need a pop filler. It’s really good at rejecting plosives.
Producer's Review
To those stupids who doesn’t know much about this mic is that this mic needs phantom powered interface to work. It won’t work in anything else.
The best budget Condenser Microphone in the market of this range. Bring up your audio quality with this one. l
Stupendo
Ottimo prodotto per prezzo e caratteristiche. Voce pulita potente e senza fruscii.
It gives really a professional sound quality with clean vocals.

Genuinely it really cares about money.

Awesome microphone
Amazing package
You just get so much when you buy this. The mic, shock mount, and case are all extremely nice, and to my ear it’s much cleaner and and more crisp than an AT2020. The high pass filter is surprisingly useful too.
I recorded acoustic guitar and vocals with great success with this mic. Just make sure your stand is up to the task of holding something so heavy.
Best buy budget mic for home studio.
Got this mic for my home studio and I luckily got this at a fair discounted price.
The sound quality that it records is amazing. You should go for it.
Best option of low cut switch in Mic
1) Best recording quality in this budget.
2) Shock mount not included in this pack.
3) Best of Beginners and intermidiate both
Calidad precio
Absolute Bargai
Don’t dismiss this microphone because it’s cheap. It’s better than an AT2020 in every way. Has a nice compressed, warm sound (almost vintage). Don’t worry about the fairly high self noise, you won’t notice it in most instances and it’s comparable with noise from mics 10 times the price. Best on vocals but not bad on instruments. Get one. You’ll not regret it.
I bought the mic in lightning sale for 4.5k,this is the worst packaging i ever got from Amazon its look like refurbished product but i am not sure .

Good Quality in this price range.
Praise the Lord
I’ve small home Studio.
It’s really great condencer microphone in this price range. You can place a order? If don’t like you can replace.
Please do not go for low range of sets of recording instruments in this price range. You won’t get the quality of recording.
Buy less, buy good qualities.
If you know your stuff, you can experiment buying other mics but in this price point, AKG P120 is consider a safe side for beginners. I have been using this mic with Behringer's entry lever audio interface. The performance of this mic is good. It pick up almost zero static or noise from background. I've been using this equipment in a 'not acoustically treated' room which is quite small. Still, it doesn't disappoint me. I've recorded quite a lot of songs on it. So far so good. The packaging on this also quite nice. You can also do live performances using this microphone. Thank you HARMAN for this beautiful piece of art.

Excelente micrófono muy recomendable. Sonido claro y profesional
I have a basey thick voice. It captured it most beautifully, dynamic response is mind blowing. Just mind the fact that the case and the electronics make it extremely heavy. You will need a good stand to hold this mic well.

It's a good quality mic for people on a budget. One complaint is high frequency cuts, best to use it with dbx 286s mic preamp

C’est très bien pour moi
J’aime bien !
Sturdy, professional and Clea
So far I have had this mic for over a year now and I carry it around a lot.
Very well built, and still working after a few accidental drops lol
Would buy AKG agai
Awesome mic for beginners.... A little boost in low mids and mids but you can correct it in mix... Not a big issue...

Very good bit of ki
Fast delivery and well wrapped, Easy to set up and the sound is of a high standard. I am still learning about other recording features that I can use with this mike. but so far GREAT.
The Flute Cover you are hearing is recorded with akg p120, I have not done any processing, it’s completely raw, just added a bit reverb in it, and see how beautiful it sounds
This is brand company product so quality is best as brand

Great microphone.
Having tried some cheaper mics and binning them, this is as good as you’ll get for the money. I use it in my small studio for Vocals, and Acoustic instruments (guitar, mandolin etc) and it punches well above its weight.
I also think it’s a bit more forgiving than my Rode in the vocal dept.
All in all, superb value for money.
Great for the price!
This is the kind of mic which has the potential to sound amazing with a little bit of EQ and proper room acoustics. I’ve had it for a while now and I can say the first time I recorded my vocals on it I was overjoyed at the fact that what I wanted was what I got.
Although there are other mics out there with larger 1″ diaphragms, this 2/3″ diaphragm will also do the trick provided the environment it’s placed in and the vocal technique of the performer are proper.
The self noise floor could’ve been reduced but considering the quality you’re getting out of this package I’d say it’s not much of an issue as the noise gets covered up by music pretty well.
I think the boost around 6k could’ve been reduced a bit in the manufacturing or designing stage but controlling it with an EQ or dynamic compresser is easy too. It goes well with heavy voices at proper distances.
The construction is study and durable and won’t give you problems apart from the fact that it’s a bit hard to fit the regular ~Rs.500/- shock mounts you find on Amazon because they’re good.
Concluding, if your budget is around 7k, it would do you good to buy this mic and a good quality cable and if you’re somewhere around 5k then reach out just a little bit because it’ll be a good future proof investment for a while. Try not to use it with entry level interfaces like Behringer or vault as they will only rob the mic of its full potential.
Good luck to you and keep making awesome music! If you’d like to check me out my insta is @psyaprod
Top quality - Perfec
crisp, clear, natural, warm sound recording. also exceptionally well made and engineered. Top quality microphone all round.
Amazing
Writing this review almost after 15 days of use. Would not recommend if you dont have soundproof room it records all the outside noise.
But in soundproof room the quality is amazing it gives i use this mic to record vocals the recording quality comes natural and it is good for beginners as i am also a beginner.
Thamk you!!
Value for money. For professional beginners. Sound quality is great. And most amazing part is the noise cancellation ability of this mic. This doesn’t not pick up small sounds frm surrounding area unless it’s a little high noise. But if u hv budget then i would recommend u should go for higher priced and better condensor mics starting 20000/- plus. this is because what is AKG 120 is capable of at 6000 it can easily beat many mics under 15/20 thousand mark. Believe me i hv a great tastevand feel n knowledge about music n sound. Trust me on this.
I have used this in live theatre shows as well as recordings and live streams. for the price it is an amazing little mic

Wonderful, pro mike
This microphone is a high quality device. You can feel it in the weight of it, but the sound proves it out.
I use it for recording singing and for online interviews.
I highly recommend it.
If you're looking for budget condenser microphones, then AKG P120 is the best option to go for it. Worth buying 👍

An as, la calidad es ntida y excelente.
good produc
it is good product from a reasonable price. this is good microphone for home studio without acoustic because noise cancellation is excellent. all suggesting for beginners.
thank you amazon for fast delivery
Satisfecho
A really good value for money microphone. The only part it lacks is the low end which is still pretty decent for value.

It has good quality sound and the -20 switch lowers the volume enough to use it for loud instruments like drums, saxophone ect. But it's is sensitive enough to get decent vocals as well. I did notice while using a Scarlett solo, the volume wasn't very high. You might consider a pre Amp with this mic

To compete with mics made in China, you must make your mics in China. That seems to be the thought that AKG brought forth when they entered the home recording market. Rather than slapping their name on anonymous designs, the Vienna-based company instead designed their own circuits while subcontracting the manufacture.
Such is the case with the dual diaphragm AKG P420 (Amazon), one of the Perception series mic lineup. With a street price of $200, the AKG P420 is the higher end of the affordable mic range, but as an AKG, it’s towards the low end of their product line. It has the features and the performance to justify choosing it over a less expensive competitor. The AKG logo never fails to add an “I’m serious” note to your home studio.
Switch It Up
If you’re not familiar with the term “dual diaphragm” condenser, you might be new to the concept of multiple polar patterns in one microphone. The AKG P420 has a pair of one-inch diaphragms, the textbook definition of a large diaphragm microphone. The pair of diaphragms, along with some nifty electronics, offer you a switchable choice of cardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-8 polar patterns.
Most mics have a cardioid pattern, which means they have an area of sensitivity that looks sort of like the simple drawn heart shape, where the bottom of the heart is the area of greatest sensitivity. This is usually where you point toward your sound source.
Omnidirectional means equal sensitivity in the shape of a circle surrounding the mic. If you need a room mic to pick up everything, or if you have several singers recording to a single track, you can use an omnidirectional mic to capture sounds all around.
Figure-8 offers two areas of sensitivity in front and behind the mic, while rejecting sounds to the side. You could capture the sound directly from a guitar amp, for example, while simultaneously grabbing room sound from the back of the mic. Two singers can face each other while in close harmony also. Multiple polar patterns add to a microphone’s versatility, and the best “Swiss Army” microphones feature this capability.
As well as a switch to select polar patterns, the AKG P420 also features a -20 dB pad switch and high pass filter switch, used for high sound pressure levels and rumble reduction respectively.
Perceptions of the AKG P420
This is an affordable microphone that proudly honors its manufacturer’s reputation. AKG’s product page recommends the P420 for use on pianos, strings, horns, woodwinds, drums, and percussion instruments. Oddly missing from the list is vocals, yet there’s nothing that keeps this from being a very good vocal mic.
Typically, large diaphragm condensers used for vocals feature a pronounced presence peak around the 5,000 to 10,000 Hertz range. The AKG P420 comes closest to this ideal when in figure-8 mode, but there and with the other patterns, this boost is modest compared to other mics.
However, the typical inexpensive Chinese large diaphragm mic is often strident and harsh, overproducing sibilance for some voices because of that presence peak. Putting a mic like that on a solo violin may be an invitation to a screech fest.
The AKG P420 is, by design, going to avoid those issues, regardless of which polar pattern you choose. Its frequency response curve for the cardioid pattern looks silky, and this plays out in practice. Voices are clear and articulated without hype. It’s the large diaphragm sound that still sounds natural.
Other Specs
Published numbers are sometimes of little value, originating in lab conditions that your home studio will never see. Usually. These favor the mic over the user, but with the AKG P420, we see a specification that works the other way. Signal to noise shows as a modest 79 dB, which isn’t a stunning figure. Yet, pumping preamp gain for miking an acoustic guitar at about 18 inches displayed no self-noise. Noise was never an issue, despite AKG’s rather average assessment of the mic.
With a maximum sound pressure handling of 135 dB straight and 155 dB with the pad switched on, there’s little short of a rocket launch that the AKG P420 won’t handle in terms of volume, so don’t worry about placing this mic in front of a screaming guitar amp. In fact, its frequency response will likely keep the scream to a minimum.
Conclusion
The AKG P420 (Amazon) is most at home with acoustic instruments, though, producing very balanced and flattering results, without brittleness in the upper frequencies. You’ll be hard pressed to find a use for this mic where it completely fails, the hallmark of a great all-purpose mic. For a couple hundred bucks, you can buy a lot of value with the AKG P420.
AKG p120 condenser mic
Just tested the AKG condenser microphone. For the price it’s really good quality product.
Sound quality is as good as the expensive ones.
The mic is value for money . The high range is slighty hissy oi airy texture but you can control that with a proper eq . Though this is an entry level midrange mic but the mic is so nice and sturdy .
This microphone came all sealed although I haven’t yet tested out if it works or not but im sure it does en I have some hope too.

This mic is excellent for beginners like me. Trust me u can't have this quality in this price range. Mic is heavy and not made of cheap quality material. I was lucky that i got this mic by paying just Rs.5863/- in a deal and I'm superb happy with this 😊

Great mic
Well, I’m an amateur, so my poor ears say it’s great.
Great sound microphone
Great microphone works perfectly, unlike one of the video reviews on here, that you can actually see he didn’t have phantom power turned on… it’s a condensed mic, it needs 48 volts to work.
Product is nice and working but the mic case was not covered by Amazon.. disappointed to see scratches on it and damaged

The mic is really good. Sturdy. Good quality vocals. At a price range, this really seals the deal. Note this a cardioid electrect condensor mic. If u are looking for a large diaphragm, true condensor mic, then go for the higher version.

This Mic is really good. I got it hooked up to a M-Track Solo Interface and It's pairs well and sounds amazing. It also arrived just 8 days where as the expected was 20.

This is the best condenser mic at this price point. Excellent build quality. Excellent sound. Excellent for 99% of users. It easily exceeds any and all audio quality requirements for streaming or recordings that are transmitted over the Internet.

AKG P420 High-performance dual-capsule true condenser microphone
It comes very nicely packaged in it’s own flight case, which gives it ample protection. It is quite heavy when installed on the shock mount that’s designed to hold it. This meant I had to apply a counter balance to boom arm on the mic stand but maybe I just need a heavier duty stand. The frequency response is a bit ‘peaky’ in the upper frequencies but considering the low price, I guess it has to be expected and it overall it does give a good recording. It is a true condenser mic and not an electret condenser as somebody else that reviewed it has stated. Overall it represents very good value for money and if it had a smoother top end , I would have given it five stars.
Amazing!
Amazing quality for a condenser microphone at this price, I was blown away!
Nice and heavy, good tones, it doesn’t fit any of the shock mounts I have sadly but it does come with its own attachment to connect it to a stand or an arm
I'd recommend buying an audio mixer so there's not any background noise but other than that its an amazing microphone with great quality

Naaiice, multi-purpose mic can fit a variety of usages.
I got a nice bargain, it cost me 6.4k. It was either this or AT2020, Fist impression : it’s got a crisp sound, and there is so much more detail than my previous dynamic microphone.
I mainly use it to work on voiceover and to record instructions for school kids. It picks up quite a lot of frequencies. I have never heard my voice in such detail.
I was so impressed by this microphone, that I tried to record my valve amp using this, I had never managed to record a good balanced sound from my extremely loud Vox. This microphone with it dB cut, managed to get a workable sound.
Though I must mention, if you live in a place with background noise it’s going to pick up everything.
So,it’s kinda important to have a sound isolated room.

I really like this microphone. Stunningly good build quality, great shock mount, selectable polar pattern, and a really good case. However, when I got it, it put out a pretty loud 60Hz hum that got much worse when my hand got near the mic. It was upsetting, because I thought it was a poor quality mic. I even went through the return process and got a RMA from Amazon. Then I noticed that when I wiggled the XLR cable a little bit, sometimes the hum went away, and the mic sounded really good. On a whim, I took the housing off the bottom, which wasn’t difficult. Basically just unscrewed and removed the bottom ring. I didn’t “do” anything inside the mic, and I didn’t unscrew the capsule or remove the basket. I put it back together, and it’s been perfect ever since. No noise, no wiggling the XLR cable. And the sound is great for my needs. I’m not sure what changed when I disassembled it, but something definitely did. I bought it as an inexpensive way to add a figure-of-eight pattern for use in mid-side recordings, but it sounds really good in the cardioid pattern. Overall, this is a great value for a durable microphone that sounds very good.
Excelente microfono.
Excellent sound quality for the price
I wanted to upgrade my rather modest mic collection and felt a proper condenser mic was the way to go. I was between this and the AKG P120 as a replacement for my old Behringer C1. I had a $25 gift card and found a P220 used so the price was almost exactly the same as just buying a new P120, so I went for it and I’m so glad I did.
I performed a quick comparison by miking my bass cab with first the Behringer C1, then the P220, and lastly my Shure Beta57 just cause, why not…?! The amount of low-end depth that the P220 added while still maintaining a crisper top end and less of a nasal midrange than the C1 was immediately apparent. Next I want to see how well it captures my acoustic. This is my one mic to rule them all!
