When it was wash day, most days my wife always could not get the rotary to open. Solution it stays in the open position and always get in the way. The new Brabantia rotary line is so easy to put up and put down. My wife finds it great, and I can get on with my work without the rotary line getting in the way when there are no cloths to dry. Thank you brabantia great design.

We have had some pretty awful wash lines in the past. These are great by comparison. So much so I have purchased this one for my daughter. This one didn’t come with accessories just a stake that is driven into the ground.
Sliding the line up is easier than getting it down. It’s easy to get yourself tangled in the line if you aren’t careful but this is a minor annoyance compared to the benefits. Loads of space and lines are always taught.

Easy to put in ground, easy to erect, The outer couple of line is a little on high side for my petite stature Only 5 ft tall, love the idea that you can have different heights. Would recommend for a taller person.

Works a treat. I replaced the long rope washing line in my garden because I found it hard to tie up when it’s heavy with a big load of washing and the rope always ended up giving me friction burn. This is so much better. Easy to use, convenient and easy to fit into the ground. However, be warned: unless you make sure you knock the ground fitting in completely straight your washing line will forever be wonky. I haven’t got round to adjusting mine so will probably put up with a slightly wonky line forever.

    Fast delivery.
If you live in an area where it can get very windy then think about putting in a concrete base.
    Otherwise easy to install.
    Great with different heights.
A bit fiddly trying to tighten the lines.
Easy to tie the lines & the cover is great.
    It is worth the cost.

Unfortunately this turned out to be too large for my garden so measure carefully before buying. I couldn’t return it because it would’ve cost 30 to send back! I really would like to use it as my sister has one and it is great. I’m now trying to find someone to buy it from me and am looking for a much smaller alternative. My ratings are based on my sister’s one.

Great item works well better than any other. Only down side is installation. You have to cement it in. The spike is useless on it’s own. If you can get it in straight it will bend with washing in the wind. Better to just bite the bullet and cement it in to start with. I learnt the hard way. Purchase it but just know that you have to concrete the post in.

Excellent value for money and very sturdy compared to brands, only negative point as mentioned in other reviews, the base is very hard to get into ground, but once installed base or rotary line are very stable.

Love this clothes drier. It is ideal size. It comes with a spike to Secure in the ground and a cover to keep it clean when not in use. It doesn’t need concreting in but my husband found it hard work getting in the ground. Should last for years though.

  10. Angie Wynne says:

The spike is a joke, as, unless you have perfect soil, the end is a blunt object and impossible to drive in the ground. Spend over an hour digging out the hole, and ended up use postcrete to fix it.

The dryer is excellent, and easy to erect and collapse. With the cover, it should last many years.

I love this line, it was easy to put up, just put the spike straight into the grass (took some hammering) it goes up really easy. I take it down after use, I am fairly Small but can do this easily. I love that it can be set to different heights and the tie that comes with it to secure it when done. It rotates when it’s really windy id not I go out and give it a spin every now and then. It holds two loads of washing and is wide enough to hold sheets. It took a while to arrive but worth the wait.

Very impressed with this clothes dryer. As other reviewers suggested I made sure ground was well moistened before creating a “cross” with a spade. Still needed help and sledge hammer to knock in the socket – but it is very firm. Importantly it is really easy to use and adjust to comfortable height. Minor irritation is that the birds keep on pinching the red plastic cover off the socket so I have created a small cage to protect it.

I had one just like this, it’s been in several gardens but had to leave it at the last one because it wouldn’t come out of it’s hole!! This is it’s replacement, exactly the same, certainly stands the test of time. Look after it well and it will give good service, just like my old one that still looked as good as new..

Soil spear is designed to be hammered in, which is great unless you have stony soil. I ended up having to cement mine in. Feels reasonably robust, does not come with a cover, you need to buy that separately

    Just the job!
Our old one broke and so we decided with the reviews to go for this one. Use a sledgehammer and a block of wood to insert the ground spike but once it’s up fab. It holds for us, 3 extra large loads of family washing for 4 and rotates exactly how they should. It’s light, easy to put up and down and I highly recommend purchasing a heavy duty black Brabantia cover to protect it from the sun and rain. Not protecting our old, other banded one meant we had sun damage on the plastic and the line cords frayed.

Absolutely brilliant, one of my better purchases, used it nearly everyday since recieving it. Just what I wanted, with plenty of space for all my washing, it’s strong, sturdy and so easy to take up and down, and also comes with a protective cover, which is so easy to put on as has a handy zip all the way down. Overall very pleased with my Brabantia rotary line and well worth the money.

Great Rotary Dryer. I’m really pleased with this rotary dryer. It is expensive but well worth the money. It’s very well made and sturdy. Being only 5ft tall I bought this because you can adjust the height, which is really easy to do. Plus it’s really easy to open up and click into place. I had three loads of washing on it and there was still room for another load. Also it is supplied with spike and cover (also really good quality). I can highly recommend this product. It makes hanging out washing a pleasure.

I have had a Brabantia clothes line for several years and as it’s still going strong I bought this for my son as his (cheap one) had given up the ghost. Brabantia are not not cheap, but they are built to last, so I’m confident this will also be good for many years.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis thing is chunky which gives it its great sturdiness but is also light weight. It’s easily light enough for my wife to remove and carry if / when needed. I’ve given installation 5-stars not because it’s easy but because Brabanti have made it about as easy as it reasonably can be. They give you a very decently sized, strong well design soil spike that you just need to drive into the ground. The driving-in is not easy – it took 30ish minutes of good effort for my son and I to do the job in relatively soft ground. However, this is much better than having to set the thing in a concrete block which I’ve normally had to do for less sturdy products. NB. you will need a heavy lump hammer or sledge hammer and a very strong piece of wood e.g. piece of old fence post, to do this job – make sure the ground is soft and hope you don’t hit a stone.

Golden Review Award: 140 From Our UsersReading reviews on putting the spike in I was expecting far more problems. The instructions are not the clearest but

Soak the ground as much as you can.
Use a spade to put a cross into the ground as deep as you can.
As you hammer the spike in, stop every couple of inches and put the drier into the spike.
It will be leaning so push it back upright.
Remove the drier and hammer the spike again.
Keep doing that every couple of inches and the amount the drier leans gets less and less as the spike goes in.

Took me ages to soak the ground and then less than 10 minutes to get the spike in.

Great airer . This is a well made product . It seems a cut above your standard airers . Time will tell on its longevity but if its anything like other Brabantia products I’m sure it wont be a problem . Its lighter than expected which is great for taking it in and out . One problem is the spike though . Although well made and strong I doubt many people will get it all the way into the ground . I didnt even try myself and I tackle any DIY no problem. I just dug a hole popped in the spike poured in some postcrete . No problem and sturdy as you like .

The best washing line I’ve ever had. Lots of hanging space with hooks on the corners for hangers. It is very easy to put up and down and the cover is very substantial. The only downside is getting the large spear into the grass. It is so big that I spent hours trying get it in far enough so that it wasn’t sticking out of the grass. A small tip – wet the grass first to make it softer. All in all, a good buy.

We originally looked at cheaper options, but we are glad that we paid more for a good one. The ground spike is fairly substantial and easy enough to get into the ground with a sledge hammer, although it is a little tricky to get it straight. The line folds up and down very easily, it’s easy to get tension into the lines and there is plenty of hanging space – one load of washing took up about a quarter of the space. Also useful that it comes with a cover to protect from dirt etc. Recommended.

This has been a wonderful washing line. However, one of the sides lines are now sagging . All the others are fine? I have no idea why this has happened and it’s rather frustrating. As the line was such a good one, I sent a message to Brabantia who have kindly agreed to replace it. I wasn’t sure if they would, but they didn’t quibble and the new one is arriving shortly – hence I have kept my rating high as otherwise it’s perfect. I do like that you can lower it also and the hooks at the end of each arm are great for hanging things off.

Actually one of the best lines we have had. Very sturdy holds up well in the wind and lots of space for all the family’s washing.

Only thing i will say is it is better to concrete in the pole as when all the wet clothes are on the line it will start to move if only in soil and then it becomes lopsided.

I got this for my grandmother who needs as much technological assistance as possible to make life easier. The lift-o-matic was designed with someone like her in mind. It makes this chore a lot easier for her. 11 months into having it, she noticed a spring come out of the mechanism during operation. I notified Amazon and without question they took it away and replaced it with a new one. I cannot thank Amazon enough for their assistance and the speed at which they dealt with it. Thanks to them my grandmother continues to be satisfied with what is a very good product.

Our previous rotary dryer was old and broken, so we replaced it with this Brabantia airer.
The upright pole is about 2mm narrower than the old one, but we have Jimmy-rigged it to fit without digging a new hole. (Ground is very hard).
Easy to move up and down.

This gig is so sturdy I’m sure I could ride on it. Had a problem getting the stake in the ground even with a sledge hammer so decided to dig hole and then cement in. Hole was a nightmare as I didn’t know our “soil” was mostly made up of flint. Not to worry, small hole, postmix, job done. My dear Wife is extremely pleased.

Installing the ground spike and keeping it straight was tricky, even though we used a spirit level. It took a while to hammer in and it is a little wonky. Still, I love it. The 4 arms stay in position and the mechanism is nice and fluid so easy to put up and down. It holds 2 loads of washing if I hang smalls on a sock dryers hooked onto the ends of the arms. These hooks (designed, I believe for coat hangers) are useful. It is altogether a useful and sturdy piece of laundry equipment and is much appreciated.

My partner found the spike tough work getting in but he did it eventually. Love the amount of space for hanging. Same as others though, the end piece of black plastic is missing (we have 3 out of 4). There doesn’t seem to be a way of contacting seller to ask for it to be sent separately.
Fantastic to pack it away at the end of the night and have a normal garden again. Love i

Durability will be revealed over time, so no entry there. At 150cm, I cannot actually reach the outer lines when the unit is far enough up to make the lines taut, so it is not that easy to use for the small ones amongst us. Its sturdiness may actually be amazing but the depth of the socket strikes me as rather shallow, so I am uneasy about that. Moving the lines from folded to up is exceptionally easy, so points for that. Mostly I like it so far.

This was to replace an old Rotary clothes line which lasted over 20 years. Far to early to say whether this one will do anything like that but it is easy to lift, and the lift mechanism is so light. As with other reviewers, I was concerned that the plastic sleeve that is inserted into the concrete base (which I created) is flimsy and short. I expected that the line would be unstable but so far so good. I hope the sleeve will last., but I do think it should be longer.

I’ve had several rotary dryers in the past! One thing that always bugs me is the difficulty in raising and lowering the arms. I chose the Brabantia Lift-o-matic as it seemed like it would ease this problem, and sure enough it has! Easy to install and to use, I’m quite impressed and that doesn’t happen lightly. It’s somewhat more expensive than the average, although not the most pricey, but it seems to me like it’s worth the extra!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI bought this product, because i think they are more tidy and practical in the garden. When collapsing and opening this rotary line which is very easy, but sometimes when opening the line gets twisted and you have to untwis some of it, but this does not happen that often. As I said I prefer to collapse it when not in use insuring that the line stays clean with the cover for the next time it’s going to be used. It is very easy to handle and remove from the soil spike, just in case you wanna have a garden party. Installing The soil spike was very easy, I just used a club hammer and a piece of wood to make sure that I didn’t damage the edge of the soil spike when banging into the ground. I have had this rotary line now for two years and it still going strong. Just remember to give it plenty of space before you bang the soil spike into the ground as this obviously turns when the wind is blowing.

It is big and sturdy. The ground plug works a treat, but not so easy to knock down into clay; even after it’ rained for 3 days solid. Once together it looks good with the cover on. Opened out it’s huge. 60m is wide enough to hand a quilt cover on, without folding. The height can be adjusted easily for the shorter people, which is the first time i have seen this feature. This is BIG when open so check you have the space. That said, it’ s very sturdy, eady to use and doesn’t need to be buried in concrete. So far, very impressed.

Was difficult to get the spike in so don’t hammer it in half way and find it won’t go any further but won’t come out either. Had to dig a small hole in the end. Fairly robust once installed, however, the line has already stretched and is a little bit slack. It’s also very big so check your measurements – this wouldn’t suit a small area – I didn’t check the measurements before buying and eventually managed to find one spot in the garden where it would fit. Be ideal for a family with lots of washing but not for a couple. Would have given 5* but for the slightly loose line.

Great volume to hang clothes out. Didn’t realise it has a ground fixing in the package, so clearly didn’t read it properly so brought a 2nd one. It was difficult for my husband to hammer into the ground and now sits at a slight angle. Whilst it is easy’ish to

Good to find a whirlygig which suits me. The second time I’ve tried one and after my first attempt I went back to using a traditional washing line. As my garden has now shrunk in size I thought a whirlygig might be better which it is. Although the price was exceedingly high compared to others, this line gives me the opportunity to lift my washing with ease and then lower it when needed. A very good product and I would recommend this to anyone.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersThe rotary drier itself is excellent. Folds, and opens smoothly, and is light. No issues with it at all.

The dropped star is due to the difficulty I had with the ground tube. Now Brabantia are not responsible for what passes as soil in my garden, but ultimately I have had to accept that the ground tube will protrude out the ground, and that I had to cement it in place. This was all due to hitting something large and immovable while hammering the ground tube in (a process that I think would have taken about 15 minutes, had the ground been ok). I then had to dig out a hole to find out what was blocking the tube, and finally I had to cement the tube into place. No, I couldn’t have just moved to drier to a different location, unfortunately.

As I said, none of this is due to the product itself, and I’m not sure it’s fair to drop a star because of it, but it’s all just something to be aware of before you purchase.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersVery happy with this product and the seller.
I would advise to open out to the height required before the deciding the location. It is big and we needed to move it as the clothes would of hung down to close to our steps on the path. So open it out first and move around to establish the best position.
We have not cemented it in so at the base there is slight movement in the ground but it would take a very very stong wind for it to blow over.
Plenty of room for the air to circulate to dry quicke

his is by far the best dryer of its type that we’ve ever had. Very thoughtful design – they seem to have thought of everything from where to hang the peg bag to an easy way to keep the ground spike hole cover safe. Very easy to put up and down, excellent range of adjustment, light to carry. Making the hole for the spike took a while, but the result is a very strong and stable base. All in all, cannot fault this dryer and recommend it without reservation.

Sunk a second 45mm ground spike (totally galvanised, so no rusting) this summer and cemented it into the lawn (not really needed but my fiance insisted) and with the addition of this second Brabantia airer, I’m all sorted when drying the bedding, week’s clothes and more with a garden-full. It’s so easy to operate one-handed (shoulder problems so this is an absolute boon) plus with the option of full-height and mid-height settings, I wouldn’t be without this make of airer for outside drying.

As a rotary clothes dryer, you really can’t buy better but, OMG, getting that spike in vertical!!!!! I checked and checked as it went down (using a club hammer as I don’t have a sledge) and then when it was about 50mm form being flat with the ground, it hit a stone and turned sideways so, yet again, I have an airer that looks as if it’s been put up by a drunk! I’m going to have to dig it out and set it in a concrete base.

As to the airer, it’s superb. I had a Brabantia many years ago and, when I finally died I bought another make and spent 4 years wishing I hadn’t. Eventually, we just gave up, pulled it down and bought this one.

Like my previous Brabantia, I expect this will last me at least 10 years and it’ll be well worth the effort of concreting-in the spike

Ours arrived with a very small dent in one arm. It has not impacted on the use of the airer nor was it enoght for us to send it back. Just annoying. Otherwise, like the other Brabantia airers we have used it does the job well and can hold plenty of washing. Best to bury the stake in a bucket of cement and bury that in the ground (belt and braces like), although the stake does work well on its own.

The size of 4M line is good for me and the 4 Arms and pole feel robust. The line has a metallic overlay to it but likely only polyurethane? Reason not 5 Star is that the lines need to have some of the ends forced apart to prevent them falling out of the holes which to me is not the best design therefore the manufacturer needs to find a way around that potential hazard of lines coming undone and washing landing on the ground. Perhaps some kind of metal ring with a hole through it could anchor those ends to stop such incidents from occurring.

Golden Review Award: 75 From Our UsersI was dubious about getting a rotary drier as I have always had a line but when ours had to go this seemed a good idea. We bought the larger drier – 60m? – and there is so much hanging space, more than I really need. It would probably fit about four loads of washing on at a time (though unless it was a super sunny day it might not all dry evenly). I tend to only do a couple of loads at a time and as such there is room to space items apart to get some air in between.
We used the spiky thing to go in the ground – we have not bothered to cement it in – and so far, so good. I tend to take it in each night so it doesn’t weather so soon. I noticed today that one side of the lines has slackened off a little – I can’t tell how this has happened as they are all individually strung. This doesn’t affect the performance at all though.
I am really pleased with this purchase. It was quite pricey but I expect it to last a long time (especially as we are not leaving it out all the time,
The only slight annoyance is that one of the black bits from the end of one arm is missing. I had read other reviews that mentioned this and questioned the delivery person but he had no idea where it was. There are three others on the other arms but they are useful as you can hook things on through the little hole. Never mind. Over all, brilliant. Thank you, Brabantia.

Rather than having a single line (which are a complete nightmare to repair or replace), this has individuals lines between the arms.
Comes with a soil spike (we concreted ours in as the weight of washing always pulls them over) and a rain cover.

    CONS:
The rain cover is thin and easily torn.
There is a plastic strap to hold the arms closed. Our old one had arms that clipped into brackets, which was preferable.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI read all of the other reviews regarding this purchase and can say that I am very glad that I bought it. It is very sturdy and was easy to set up. I like the cover it comes with and even though it it is a bit loose in the holder I spread my washing out so that it does not wobble around. Brilliant value.

Beabantia household goods are top-notch and this is no exception. We decided to junk our 19-year-old rotary dryer and buy a new one. This is great and I particularly love the cover that comes with it. Somehow, when you slip on the back cover and zip it up, you just don’t see the rotary dryer in the garden. It’s hiding in plain sight. Love all the features and it slides up and down easily. You have to remember to move your head out of the way otherwise you can nearly get garrotted by the rising clotheslines. I haven’t worked out how to make the top part slide down the pole yet but haven’t bothered to study the leaflet. Guess that’s my fault. It was initially difficult to get the holder in the ground — you need brute strength to sink it into the earth. Once done, however, you forget your efforts and simply enjoy the clothes dryer. Sad, but true!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis whirly gig is MASSIVE!!! I didn’t realise when I ordered it, but I’m glad I did as it is exceptional for drying. The lever for putting it up is a doddle to use and it spins delightfully in the lightest of breezes, despite its size. I have always had a whirly gig and this is by far the best I’ve had. Well worth the price.

I bought this having read rave reviews here. There are lots of cheaper ones so I was in two minds about it. However I am glad I went with this one. It is very sturdy and has so much space. I had 5 washing machine loads on it at one time and there is still line space for more – and that included two loads of bedding. Sheets and blankets for a double bed can be spread across it with no problem. I think this may be the best washing line I have ever used. If this lasts as long as I expect it to then it will be worth every penny.

Really good quality rotary airer. I’ve never spent as much on a washing line before but think it will be worth it. I would normally spend about 25 – 30 but I think you get what you pay for. It’s easy to put up and down and can be placed at different heights. Only drawback is that my husband said it was really hard to get the spike bit in the ground. Its a bit wonky but still dries the washing!

Golden Review Award: 41 From Our UsersThis thing is enormous! Size wise it is exactly as it says on the description, but wowzers, the amount of washing you can hang on this thing, it’s incredible!
Somehow it is also stable: we cemented the foundation in place (rather than ramming it into the grass) for extra stability and it has held itself really well. Just get yourself a bag of ready-to-use cement, dig a hole deep enough 20x20cm wide and fill it with the cement +water while you hold the foundation nice and straight in the middle: job done!

Update after 3 years of use: Still going strong, still love it!

This is the second Brabantia rotary clothes dryer that I have had. I like it just as much as the previous one and hope it lasts as long – 15 years.
It is solid, well made and easy to set up. The ground spike, which is very robust, was a little more tricky in that it needed a certain amount of skill to knock into the ground at the same time as keeping it completely straight – we have heavy clay soil. The cover is brilliant and so easy to zip on and off. With the three products this was a good deal.

Nevertheless Amazon’s online return bods sorted it out efficiently. they may not pay taxes but they sure are good at resolving complaints!
The ground spike is excellent. Put two slices into the ground with a spade to form an ‘X’, put the spike in the middle and get hammering with a big mallet and bit of wood. Didn’t have to line it up once and it’s perfectly straight and stable. The dryer is a big old thing, much bigger than our old one, but the lever action is smooth, lines are taught and its nice and light. Suitably impressed to recommend it at this price. Lovely bit of kit 🙂

I bought this washing line to replace my old, many many years old Brabantia rotary washing line and I now wish I had done it sooner. The Brabantia Lift-O-Magic is so easy to use. No more struggling to push the lines up, or getting tangled in the lines when lowering. The new version spins the clothes around in the wind making drying faster. A joy to use and as the spike now knocks into the lawn, negating the need to ” concrete in” had it up and running within minutes of delivery.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFantastic quality item if a quite pricey – but compared to your average run of the mill rotary clothes line this is on a different planet. Just need to concrete in the ground spike and leave for 2 or 3 days to set before mounting it. Opens up really easily with spring assistance and has plenty of line for a big wash. The cover is a nice quality item too and zips on and off really quickly making it worthwhile i.e. not so difficult and clumsy that you dump it after the first use. The peg bag is handy but the real star is the clothes line itself. I would thoroughly recommend it.

This is a really good quality washing line but I’m pleased that it doesn’t weigh very much so it’s easy for me to move into the hole in the ground when I need to put it in.

My only complaint is that it’s a bit awkward to lower and I haven’t quite worked out the easiest way to do it without getting myself trapped at the same time.

It was quite a lot more than the basic washing lines cost but I’m hoping the fact it’s Brabantia means it’ll be well made and last for longer – I’ve had it for 4 months and It’s working well so far.

Fabulous airer at a great price. The metal spike drives into the ground with a few hammer blows (use a club hammer and a peice of wood to keep it straight as you drive it in) and holds up even in high winds. This size is ideal for my family of five and I wouldn’t go smaller again, as even with smaller washes you can space the washing out well for faster drying. It comes with the spike included, and small red cap that fits neatly into the hole left in the lawn when you remove it. I didn’t bother using this until I “lost” the hole several times! It arrives with a blue plastic tie threaded halfway down the pole that holds the arms and lines. I’m not sure whether this is supposed to be for transit only, but I’ve been using it for a year now to keep the dryer folded when not in use and it’s still going strong. It is very light to move if you need to, but I keep mine up most of the time because I’m pretty lazy.

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersPleased with this purchase. Worried on reading reviews regarding sharp edges; have yet to find any. Easily put up and taken down, another problem relating to feedback reviews stating that the press button release was difficult. I have arthritis in my hands and wrists and find it easy to handle putting up and taking down.

My previous rotary airer was expensive and lasted for years with a family to maintain washing always on the line. Now with just two I find this cheaper version is adequate for our needs but if I had the family living with us again I think that I would need to purchase a more expensive one.

It does take all the bed linen and visitors. Plus all the everyday laundry with no problems. The spike was not required as the original washing line tube was still set in concrete in the ground fitted the new.

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersThe only problem with this product is the included ground spike, being approx 18″ long it is too short to accurately drive into the ground vertically, The dryer itself has a central aluminium tube which is 45mm diameter, it wont stand up to being pulled to the side to correct the ground spike once it is driven in, and being so short the spike is nearly impossible to accurately drive it in vertically. Best to invest in the plastic accessory spike which requires concreting in, the best method is to dig the correct size hole and fill with postcrete, push the spike in already attached to the dryer and using a spirit level, some rope and tent pegs accurately anchor it to the ground in the vertical position until the concrete sets hard.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIf a clothes airer could make a person happy, this is the one to do that. It is sturdy, the movement works great and it takes a lot of clothes. It’s great to be able to close it when not in use. The only thing I would recommend is cementing it into the ground to make sure it remains completely vertical. If it is even slightly at an angle, the airer rotates until the heaviest side is at the lowest point. That’s not a fault but an installation issue. Highly recommended.

It is so smooth to open and close, the height adjustabity range is fantastic. The capacity is brilliant and the washing just glides around in the breeze (which is something my cheaper lines have never done!)
I’m very glad with this purchase and I’m even more pleased that I spent that little bit extra to get this quality. It is WELL worth its money, I wish I had spent out on this one years ago and not wasted my money on the cheap alternatives that I have had to replace (obviously making the cheaper ones false aconomy!)

Does the job and well made. It actually comes with a metal ground spike, not the plastic one. I think there is a slightly larger diameter pole that comes with a plastic spike and this would probably have been my first choice if I’d realised. I’m in a pretty exposed location but this has stood up well, the spike is in a bag of postcrete and the whole thing is solid. Hopefully many years of use to come. For info, the widest lines are about 5 cm shorter than the width of a king size duvet cover, they still fit but you just can’t pull it tight.

Good quality rotary drier, easy to put up and take down, the hight can also be adjusted , the only this I found to be amiss was the concrete tube, the shape is wrong, the concrete tube is smooth plastic with nothing for the concrete to grip, one good pull to remove the rotary drier would pull the concrete tube out of the concrete, after digging a hole and half filling it with concrete I placed the tube and surrounded it with the remaining concrete only for the tube to keep pushing up, my advice if you buy this drier put a coulpe screws through the very bottom of the sleeve this will prevent the tube popping up or becoming loose after a few weeks.

I have a small garden and have been using a small rotary airer and delaying washes to get everything dry. I was worried about this, but the ability to be able to deal with the washing of a family of 7 was worth the risk. There is a lot of space on this, it actually doesn’t take up much more space than my small 3 arm airer did. It is light and easy to move around and you can adjust the height on it easily. After reading reviews from people who wished they had chosen the 50m over the 40m, I’m glad I read those reviews and did chose the 50m. Even with not great weather, I’ve managed to get 4 wash loads out and dried in one day.

Fantastic product of a robust design made with high quality materials. The ground spike is very effective and means that the dryer is not going to go anywhere. The cover has a full length zipper making it a doddle to remove and put back on again. The flexibility of being able to raise and lower the whole rotary mechanism means a person of any height could easily set this up and gives it unrivalled flexibility for drying all sorts of items. I also like the fact the the dryer rotates so easily that even gentle breezes will make it spin when there are clothes on it. This may be expensive but it is a clear example of you get what you pay for.

So far very good. Takes three loads of washing (we got the largest size) seems well made. Will accommodate king sized bedding. Comes with a widget to hold it sturdy in the ground which took a bit of effort to get all the way into the soil… Followed instructions then had to resort to a mallet and block of wood, then husband had to take over for the last bit. Despite best efforts it’s a bit wonky. We are short of space and recently moved in, the back garden is a bomb site so this is in the front which is south facing and gets costal winds. Works well and you can conceal your pants from the neighbours between larger items. Have yet to see how it survives our windy winters but is easy to take in if weather gets very choppy.

6 years on and this is still going strong. It is out and used all year round, rain permitting and is holding up well in very exposed locatio

Absolutely fantastic, look no further order it now. I can’t believe you can get so excited over a rotary drier. I don’t normally spend this much on items like this but fed up with cheap and cheerful which don’t last long. This item is really worth every penny and you will love it. Very strong excellent quality and fully adjustable. My other half is only small and you can have the drier low so you can drape duvets or sheets over it, or just have it lower if you prefer. It has a large decent ground spike which I cemented in. It has a couple of extra features which are simple but effective. Holes on the end of the arms so you can put hangers on and also a plastic clip to keep the arms together when folded up. Also want to mention the seller. Excellent service, fast free delivery highly recommend.

You pay a little more for this item, but it is worth paying a little extra for a lot more quality. The sliding mechanism to unfold the dryer is smooth and very light to operate. The whole thing is well engineered. Initially I had doubts about the locking mechanism, however, having used the dryer several times, I have also found it light and easy to use.
The spear was hammered into the lawn, using a rubber mallet, and a block of wood. The fairer sex may find this difficult, but the problem would be the same with all types of twirling dryers so I think critisim regarding this manufacturer rather unjustified
In short, I would thoroughly recommend this produc

I didn’t initially intend to pay quite as much for a replacement rotary, but after doing a bit of research, went for this model.
Quality is obvious as soon as you get it out of the box, (which was also very strong). I had to use the metal socket supplied, as the centre pole was larger than my previous one. Dug a hole to about three quarters the depth of the spear, and tapped it into the bottom of the hole, this held it upright while I topped up with concrete. The result is a sturdy job, and the line performs perfectly. My wife is able to raise & lower the line easily, something she found difficult with our old one.
    Highly recommended.

This clothes airer is ideal for me personally, because it has a system where you can put the washing line down to your level whilst loading the airer with clothes, then use the umbrella system to put the washing back up to as high as you want it to be to dry the clothes. The only thing I found was, I couldn’t load it up too heavy, because I didn’t have the strength to push it back up, say if there were wet towels on it, which were heavy. But its very handy, because of the adjustable height system. Its handy if you suffer with arthritis or have any disabilities, a really good design. Its worth the money I feel and I would definitely recommend to anyone thinking of purchasing this, its a very sturdy item.

After about 20 years my old Brabantia finally buckled at the arms because I had re-threaded a new line and tightened it too much.
I was pleased to see that the replacement had barely changed in design except for one thing. The line used to be one continuous section but now each segment is separate. This means that it is be easier to put up (less tension) and each section will be more evenly tensioned. I don’t know how I would replace the individual sections of line and the instructions fall down there as they give no clue but I will cross that bridge when I come to it as they say. Our old Brabantia never had a cover so I think that probably meant the sunlight damaged the line plastic and it had to be changed more often as well as getting dirty. This model comes with a cover so I would recommend buying with the cover. I was also pleased that the pole fitted in the existing concreted in socket.
I swear by Brabantia and it pays to spend a bit extra whether its a washing line, pedal bin or ironing board. My only slight criticism is that there is no maintenance booklet.

2 years later it’s still going strong, still level and blowing around beautifully. A bit of initial patience ensuring it was level in the garden has paid dividends (a spirit level across the spike as you’re bashing it in works perfectly)! Holds loads of washing (about 4 from my washing machine) and, yes, the blue plastic restraint is still working and in one piece. I also bought the cover and gave the airer a wipe for the first time last week – no dirt came off it all and it has been in my garden for 2 winters now only protected by the Brabantia cover. Love them so much I’ve now got an ironing board cover, peg bag and bin from the same makers. And their customer service was great too when I had a question. What a change to find a company which dedicates time to good old-fashioned service. Definitely a fan!

… and still love it in Nov 2017. Still clean (despite a few signs of wear in the cover), still straight, still doing a good job and the blue fastener is still there! Brilliant!

Does what it should, much better than our previous one.

I think the spear (included) is excellent. I live in a clay soil area and getting anything in the ground is a nightmare. As somebody else has said a standard hammer probably won’t do – I used a woodworking mallet and put a piece of 2″ x 1″ battening on the top of the spear to stop damaging the metal. Also as the other person says, stop part way though (once or even twice) and hold the dryer pole in to see how your angle is, (holding the pole in will make the angle more obvious). Bashing the spear vertical, again using the bit of battening to prevent damage, before continuing works a treat. Once in the spear is very secure.

Did not want concrete or steel so after many years decided to try rotary and was advised by friends not to buy too cheap. So went for this Brabantia which seems mid range, The major consideration is its footprint and this needs to be considered as it does require some space and some thought to clothes billowing on a windy day but once thought through no problems at all, wish we had gone down this road years ago – looks good performs well, hanging of sheets need a little thought but altogether a nice piece of kit, so can now mow the lawn and dry the washing at the same time !

Fantastic quality rotary dryer! So pleased I treated myself to this brabantia one!
Can easily fit 3 large loads of washing on (including sheets).
The spike took a lot of elbow grease to get into the ground (used a sledge hammer and piece of wood), and sadly it went in at an angle (so my rotary dryer tilts slightly to the left as a result), but being a very petite lady, I was proud of my efforts!
Do not hesitate to purchase this brand over cheaper ones- you get what you pay for, and this is the bees knees of rotary dryers! (Would recommend buying a cover to protect it against the elements when not in use- brabantia do their own cover, but I purchased one from the well known high street catalogue store for half the price!).

After suffering from collapsing rotary dryers for years, I have great hopes that this one will last and last. I like the easy to use lift and lower mechanism, the non-slip drying lines and the fact that each section of line is separate which avoids frustrating, saggy bits which have to be threaded back where they came from.
Be warned – if you have heavy clay soil as per my garden, it may be a trial of strength and endurance to get the very substantial metal ground spike into the soil. However, it will be well worth the effort as it seems to be really secure and the line spins beautifully.
Only minor criticism is that the disc shaped, plastic cover for the ground spike (which you use when the Dryer is put away) is bright red so can’t be ignored. I understand why it’s been made that way, it’s never going to get lost or destroyed by a rampant mower but a green one would camouflage itself better.
Thank you Brabantia, someone spent a lot of time and effort designing this.

I’ve had this dryer about 6 months and can say with confidence that it is a real treasure. It is robust but light enough for a weakling to install and raise up and down with ease. The wires are not stretchy – they are really strong and maintain their tension. It has lots of drying space and so will hold your week’s wash. Although it isn’t the cheapest option, I’m sure that it will be a good investment. I speak with some experience in this regard – having gone through all the price and quality ranges available during my 70 years. If you can afford it get a good one – and this one would be a good one to choose.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersFor many, many years I had a Brabantia rotary line and we got along very well. Then it “died” and I replaced it, in a hurry, with a much cheaper version. We did not get along! The opening mechanism was like an umbrella and it took huge delight in trapping my thumb every time I opened it then sticking solidly open until I wasn’t paying attention at which point it would swing shut taking the rest of the flesh off my poor thumb. After two weeks of that I finally “lost it” and threw the wretched thing across the garden hurling imprecations at it at the same time. I ordered this one as soon as I’d calmed down enough to use the computer. I’ve been calm ever since it arrived. It has a beautifully smooth opening and closing mechanism. It is sturdy without being heavy. It is easy to turn it into a flat dryer for jumpers etc and also very easy to store by its hanging loop. We get along very well.

Had this for around a year now to replace the old one that rusted through. To be fair the old one was here when we moved in about 12 years ago so it’s done well. I wanted something a bit bigger but slightly underestimated the size of this beast! It fits fine in our garden but you really will need to check clearance space. Easy enough to install and it still looks perfect after almost a year. Folds down really easy although I do tend to strangle myself trying to put it back up again.

Worth noting that we had a problem with the first one we received because it had been damaged in transit. Amazon were their normal brilliant selves and arranged a swap without any trouble. The new one arrived in perfect condition.

A very good quality rotary dryer. After buying the top- of the line costing 86.20 GBP, I expected a lot and that I would finally have a rotary dryer that actually DOES rotate. This dryer is heavy and tends to make a wobbling action as it turns. I decided to brace the pole entry site with two steel wedges to give more support and stop the wobble. With two steel wedges and bricks, it does the job.
Overall, very good, but a little too overpriced for all of the extra work, expense & hassle creating a bracing system to get the dryer to rotate correctly.

The dryer arrived quickly and was as advertised. It looks more impressive than in the advertising images, and although metallic coloured as seems to be the trend, rather than the green with which such items often used to be finished, does not look too out of place in the garden.

The soil spear drove reasonably easily into the ground using a lump hammer and piece of wood as protection, and was not too difficult to keep vertical during the process using a spirit level. (Well, lets face it, the ground’s soft enough this year!)

The lifting and folding mechanism works well – there’s a plastic tie built in to one arm to gather in the arms and lines when folded which could possibly break after a while, but could easily be replaced with a cord. Altogether looks like a good purchase.

I purchased this when my last rotary dryer broke. The dryer was very light and tilted every time a bath towel or heavy item was pegged, so was very unstable.
I bought my present dryer because I have other Brabantia items and wanted a quality dryer, and I have definitely not been disappointed. This dryer is extremely sturdy even on the windiest days. The ground spike is a bit difficult to get in to the ground at first as it’s not pointed, but I read a good few reviews and we used a club hammer and 2×4 piece of wood to keep it even.
I’m really pleased with the dryer the difference in quality from the last one is amazing, and even when full of washing there’s no problem with it tilting.
Also I saved nearly 30.00 on the RRP price because I bought it from Amazon, absolutely delighted!.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI used the dryer yesterday for the first time. I’m delighted with my purchase, this is a very roomy dryer with loads of hanging space. Its very easy to put up and just glides to the position you require. You do need to make sure you have plenty of room for the dryer to avoid walls, fences and such like as it is very large, which is exactly what I wanted. I also received a cover with the dryer, but unfortunately this was faulty in that there was a split at the side of the zip where the stitching had not caught. I emailed Amazon and within 30 minutes received a call to discuss the problem, very impressed with the speed at which they dealt with this. I did not want to have to send the whole order back just for the sake of the cover, especially in view of the length of time it took to deliver it, so accepted a refund to cover the cost of a new cover. Took quite a long time for my dryer to arrive although within the time specified. Amazon tend to tell you it will be a couple of weeks and your order usually arrives within 3/4 days but on this occasion it did take a couple of weeks. It was great to get a metal spike with the dryer, which does not require cementing in according to the instructions. We decided we would use the spike without cementing it in and see how it went, if we find movement we will cement at a later date. On the whole extremely happy with the purchase and would recommend to anybody looking for a solid built quality family dryer.

This was a great bargain from Amazon Warehouse at a fraction of the RRP, but even at full price I would say it is well worth the money. It is a really solid, well-built item, and I have been unable to find the sharp parts that some have mentioned.
It is quite heavy, and I decided to concrete in the spear so there’s no danger that it will move. It spins round very freely and there’s tons of room for several loads of washing.
Just be aware that this is quite large – I should have bought the smaller version for the small space I have to put it in. Corner to corner it is some 10ft. I won’t be able to use the outer line for large things like sheets else they’ll catch on the fence.
Nevertheless, this was an excellent buy with the usual Amazon first class ordering and delivery system.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI bought this rotary dryer following the total collapse of my old dryer that I had had for about 16 years on which I had only replaced the line. This dryer is definitely more robust. It is easier to put up and take down and it has plenty of usable space. I do, though have two concerns. Firstly the catch in the lifting mechanism is great, but it has a small wire spring in it as part of the mechanism. With the best will in the world I cannot see this lasting 16 years. I have had experience in other items of such little springs failing and coming out completely. As the catch is part of what makes this dryer so easy to put up I may be very unhappy in a couple of years time. I look forward to being proved wrong. My second picky grouch is that, presumably being so robust, it does not blow round anything like as easily as my previous dryer which reduces the drying power, but is not really a problem.
