    Epico!
    Giocatelo finch potete farlo.

i'm so glad i discovered fire emblem from this.
his was my first fire emblem game and i have to say it’s simply brilliant. a strong contender for best game on the 3ds. no voice acting, just minor, but still, the story is very good, plus the characters are so well written.

gameplay is very addictive. playing on classic makes the battles more intense with the perma-death scenario for the characters.

most rpg lovers would cherish this game.

    A must-buy for 3DS owners
I had never played this saga, but I can say that this game is similar to Final Fantasy Tactics (PSP version).

The animations used to tell the story are well-made anime-like.
The game is short if you don’t know anything about the saga. Once you realize that characters can get married and create new characters, then it increases replayability.

If you want to increase the stats of your characters you are limited to a few battles. If you want more battles, then you have to buy DLC which is always unacceptable.

Overall, it was useful to pass the time during those long trips.

    Better then FF Tactics!
This was the first Fire Emblem I’ve ever played and it’s gotten me hooked. Both the tactical combat and the mechanics of passing on traits to your children are well executed. The story, while generic in places, did manage to surprise me at times and is a great deal better then the unnecessarily convoluted sequel. I can recommend this game to anyone who enjoys tactical gridbased combat.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our Usersmy first 3DS XL game and what an impression it made!
my first nintendo game ever for my first 3ds (technically 2ds xl) and what a first impression, just wow. the tactical combat system, where you plan every move and try to win the battle, i really like the story, characters and the bonds that bind them are amazing, it really touch my heart, i also care for all the characters (especially, chrom, lucina and my mc robin and the bonds between them). you can romance characters as well, in my case it was lucina for my mc and got a cute and funny daughter who is like a combination of robin and lucina.
it is a difficult game if your new to the series like i was, but once your used to it the game is really fun and enjoyable.
there are 2 mode, classic where if a character falls in battle they can’t be used again ever, but will still appear in dialogue
and casual, where they can be re used after the battle and will fight again
i played on casual, but i like the characters so much that if they fell, i would restart the fight and try a different strategy, usually successful.

i absolutely adore and love this game, one of the reasons why i brought the 2DS XL and will be getting FE Fates as well

if you like S-RPGS then this is a must buy, you’ll be doing yourself a favou

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA good introduction to the series, but frustrating
As a newcomer to the Fire Emblem series, I have to confess I do not think I am the target demographic. I am a JRPG fan, for sure, but I’ve generally avoided these ‘tactial’ RPGs because they feature a few characteristics that I have always found more frustrating than enjoyable, and more restrictive than liberating. Namely: the need to constantly restart (re-roll) in order to get optimal results, and the fortune of RNG (‘random number generation).

On the plus side, Fire Emblem Awakening features a compelling story, a huge cast and is utterly engrossing, for the most part. I can’t fault the effort that has been put in to this. If you enjoyed previous Fire Emblem games, or other tactical RPGs such as Final Fantasy Tactics, or Disgaea, you probably already know and love the series and own the game. If not, I would say there’s still plenty to enjoy here and if you can find it at a reasonable price (no longer so easy) it is well worth the investment. The game also features an ‘easy’ mode for newcomers which removes the game’s usual permadeath function and provides additional information during combat to help you make informed combat decisions.

So what am I griping about? Well, its the same problem I have had with other heavily scripted tactical RPGs, that is to say those tactical RPGs which do not feature randomised battles. I have already moaned about this with Valkyria Chronicles (which also suffered from this problem) and that is, the game does not reward improvisation, and it utterly punishes any error. The gameplay loop seems to consist of constantly restarting a battle in order to fathom (or obtain through the mercies of RNG) the ‘optimal’ approach to each scenario. If you fail to follow the ‘optimal’ path, you will be punished (in Fire Emblem you will be punished by the permanent loss of a character!) At times, you can feel as if you are fighting against the very game you are trying to play.

For example, in one early mission you are tasked with saving a villager who takes 2-3 turns to reach. The trouble is, she starts the level surrounded by archers who, in the first turn, will shoot at her. If these archers hit, or if even one of them causes critical damage, it is entirely possible she will die in the first turn thanks to RNG. That’s it – she’s dead, she’s gone utterly from your campaign and erased from the game. After this happened, I was a little gob-smacked and assumed I had done something wrong. After much searching on the internet, the answers were all the same: if you want her to survive (and why wouldn’t you?) you must keep restarting until you get an outcome favourable to this. In other words: there is an optimal way for this level to unfold, and you are going to have to keep restarting until you get it.

Ultimately, this type of game has its fans – and I cannot fault the quality of the presentation, but it is going right next to Animal Crossing on my shelf of ‘I just don’t get it’.

The reason why I bought a 3DS. I would say this is an essential game for the 3DS. The gameplay just works so well with the format. 3D isn’t really worth mentioning, but that’s the case for most 3DS games.
There is now a sequel FE game(s), which I haven’t played yet, but Awakening was meant to be the swansong FE game (before it was so sucessful), so it incorporates many great things from past entries in the series.

A good first entry of Fire Emblem for the 3DS
I’m not a Fire Emblem fan- this was my first FE game and the one recommended to me to play first as FE: Fates was already out at the time I recieved this. I would definitely recommend it to fans of games like X-COM, Final Fantasy or any other turn based strategy game.

There is a little bit of a learning curve and you might want to play the first few chapters, read up on a few mechanics that aren’t fully explained (marriage and children mainly) in the tutorials, and then restart on a higher difficulty on the classic setting for a more proper experience of how the game is meant to be played because when the battle scenarios started to feel too easy on my first play through on easy difficulty, my compulsion to play dwindled and I did end up doing that myself.

The characters are all fairly charming with the usual selection of various character tropes to pick from, and they can build relationships with each other and the dialogues they have can be quite entertaining.

The story is a little bland with a few nice twists that weren’t obvious and an equal amount that were glaringly so, but it’s still pretty enjoyable and compelling enough to complete the game for.

Gameplay is pretty fun with equal amounts of frustrating, in some instances your characters dying can feel really underhanded and dirty, but that’s part of the charm and makes the game more entertaining – once they die they won’t come back (assuming you’re playing classic mode) and you’ll want to avenge them. Or reset to the last savepoint, grind their levels up and then go back to the chapter and blitz everyone – which is what I found myself doing a lot. It’s nice that you can play it however you want – playing with your own rules can make the game a lot more entertaining.

Overall I’d definitely recommend this game to beginners first and say it’s worth playing through a couple of times, which is quite a lot of gameplay.

Great difficulty curve and fantastic character support system, my only complaint can be that although I love that the many spotpass release characters can be purchased with in-game money rather than being paid dlc (although there is a lot of paid dlc available), they are very expensive in-game, which is disappointing.

Really addicted to this game, having not played the previous games I was unsure what I was getting into, but I am very pleased that I bought it! It reminds me alot of Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced ( an old game on the Gameboy Advance ) where its a tactical game, moving your characters to adjacent squares to allow them to attack etc, but being mindful of the enemies attacks!

The game really goes into detail when it comes to building relationships between characters and I cannot recommend pairing up male + female characters more 😉

I love turn based strategy/fighting games, I have the Advanced Wars games as well and the Age Of Empires series also. The graphics in this game are lovely, in particular the fight cut scenes and you can advance your stuff as you want so if you dont use a particular character he will stay bad so you have to think about your troops a bit like a football manager trying to keep players match fit as they advance as you use them more so often it is a good idea to try and boost up the weaker guys earlier on I like the fact you can play so that your characters should they die can stay dead or you can choose to play the mode whereby you get them back at the end of the battle. Everything about this game is slick and I enjoy it more than any other games of this ilk I have played recently and would recommend this highly.

A great game, but it's poor by series standards.
A step back in many ways for Fire Emblem- the level design is iffy, enemy reinforcements enter the map instantly on higher difficulties meaning a unit could be insta-killed if you don’t have prior knowledge of the map, and the fantastic Streetpass functionality (where you can battle the AI controlling your friend’s best units) is a double edged sword as it allows you to overlevel your units and ruin the balance of the game. It’s still a fantastic game, but I prefer the more focused designs of Fire Emblem GBA and Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIf ye be strategic, rewarded you shall be - if ye be careless, punished you shall be.
This game is awesome. Breathtaking cutscenes. Interesting story. Lovable characters. Awesome gameplay.
This is strategy-RPG at its finest. Moving your characters across a grid turn-by-turn to kill enemies using positioning and weapons for strategy. This game will reward the strategic, and punish the careless. One very wrong move, and a weak character such as a healer or a mage will die, come the enemy’s turn. However, position them well, and utilize the rock-paper-scissor mechanic of swords, axes and spears, and your victory is all but assured to have no casualties. New to the series is the casual mode, which will disable the perma-death of fallen characters that the series is otherwise known for, causing fallen characters to simply withdraw and reappear in the next battles to come, rather than die, never to reappear again.
This is a fine addition to any 3DS owners game library, and is sure to please, granted that you keep positioning and weapon types in mind during stages – this IS, afterall, a strategy-RPG.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA game that is perfect to a faul
A game that is perfect to a fault. Fans of the series will definitely enjoy the journey through the game. You, the player, follow Chrom, Prince of Ylisse as he struggles to prevent a dark future. Many will also recognize the World Map that originated in The Sacred Stones, making the management of your army easy and efficient. The Support System from most previous games in the series also returns, and will be absolutely vital to maintain a presence in the game. Players have the option to begin the game on the Classic or Newcomer modes. Classic mode works very much like previous titles in the series, where if your units are defeated in battle, they cannot be used for the remainder of the game, so use them wisely! Newcomer mode welcomes new players to the series by allowing fallen units to be used again after the end of the battle in which they fell. Overall, this game is a superb addition to the series, with a great plot, interesting characters and character development, making you actually care for the units in your army, and top of the range game play. I would recommend this game to anyone that is a fan of the Strategy genre.

Warning I tend to write heaps so be Warned!

I also won’t be talking about the DLC too much, this review is aimed at the bare bone game directly:

Fire emblem awakening as if its reviews on the net haven’t already said so is a very solid and well thought through game with some people arguing its worth the 3DS alone

The fire emblem series is a fairly unique series which is primarily a grid based strategy game some RPGs elements mixed in and in depth individual character both main and supporting acting as the players units with the players main goal usually to defeat the opposing force with occasional twist here and there depending on the mission. As mentioned previously each unit is a individual character and thus if killed they wont return thus discouraging the player from throwing away troops during battle. Alongside these strategy elements are some RPG styled elements such as troops having their own classes, skills stats, weapon types, spells etc and can gain exp through various actions and improve themselves overtime. Finally the game combines this with a in depth story the player will follow alongside as they go through the games

Fire Emblem awakening does just that but adds new feature and enhances current ones for the greater good for the series

    The positives

Regarding new features the game now gives the option of newcomer mode where is a character dies they will return or the series tradition classic mode where if a character dies they stay dead for the rest of the game which can make battle more intense. This is a great feature to attract less experience players to the game though I would still recommend Classic as it teaches you to be more careful and can make things more intense and rewarding.

Speaking of accessibility the game even on its default can be challenging but fair and will reward player for playing correctly and being patient. For more daring or insane players there are the higher difficulties to test you skills that provide a great challenge. For newcomers I would suggest normal but the options is there which is good as it pleases everyone

The story is well done at sometimes predictable sometimes surprising and satisfying once the main story is beaten. People new to the series will not need to keep up to date with the previous installments as the game only references it since the game itself takes part in a different timeline thus making the game further accessible to newcomers The story is complemented by a diverse roster of characters most of which being ingame units for the player to use each with their own different skills, classes. The character are also fairly well done and while at a glance they only seem to have a simple gimmick to then there is a LOT more depth to them through the ingame support system which encourages players to build further support between their units. A f

Another new feature to the game is the ability to make your own character who comes with a set personality and can support with any character in the game and has plot relevance thus making you more part of the game. This character also comes with even further customization than the ingame characters allowing players to customize their personal character to suit their needs

Units that are adjacent or paired up together can support each-other thus providing stat bonuses and other useful perks and will build support if capable which unlock support logs of dialogue between the two characters which increases support levels leading to further bonuses. Some character of opposite genders can even marry which shows bonuses as the game progresses.

Another final positive with the characters is customization through the use of ingame items you can change their classes allowing character to fill different roles making every character viable in someway.

Outside of the story and character gameplay is good there is a diverse amount of classes and methods available to secure victory making the combat tactical This is all well animated and satisfying especially when a character gets a critical. Speaking of visuals the graphics ingame are adequate but the cutscenes and art style is very well done I just wished there were more ingame cutscenes. The soundtrack is also great again a diverse amount of soundtrack that can nail some scenes perfectly and they can be listens too from the bonuses section on the main menu

Finally on the positives here is a heap to do ingame as alongside the main story there of random spawns such as merchants, or enemies to fight in areas you have previously completed, occasionally side missions which are most of the time rewarding such as a new character, a good shop with good gear etc. There is also lots of useful DLC which I would leave till after you beat the game as most are intended for higher level characters. Alongside all this spotpass is also implemented into the game and adds even more including 5 new missions, unique items, item rewards for longer playtime and more. You can even encounter other players computer controlled teams to fight, make your own and have a shot against the games self made teams which feature characters from previous fire emblem installments.

there is probably more I can cover regarding positive so onto negatives there is not many but will note them below

    The negatives

Some characters could have more supports which becomes more evident later in the game

The game does give you choices rarely but there isn’t many differences between them I would have liked have seen decision making that affect the ingame world

The game is fairly DLC heavy which can be seen as a downside to some though most of its is good and some useful to the player. Regardless I would refrain till after beating the game as most of is aimed at late game players.

Game can require some experience grinding at times especially on higher difficulties though there is a cheap DLC that can deal with the problem

The final negative I can really think of that it does required lots of playtime to get the most out of it so it may not be suitable for those with tight time schedules

The games complexity and story may make it less suitable for very young 3DS owners

Overall though I think its a good purchase its very addictive, appeals to a wide selection of people and offer plenty of customization for the user and plenty of things to do ingame, I would recommend i

    Fantastic
The Game works perfectly and was very well packaged.
As for game play I’ve gotten slightly addicted to this game and it’s one of the best of this genre that I’ve played. Basically the game is a turn based strategy game so i doubt it would appeal to everyone but if you’re even half interested i strongly suggest you check it out.

Great design and localization, implementation with online could've been bette
This Fire Emblem is perhaps the best in the series, mostly thanks to an outstanding localization job that gives a lot of personality to each character. Past games in the series have suffered from bland writing, but in here it really pops. That’s a big deal because every character have multiple interaction opportunities with most of the other characters. It’s just nice to see a translation from the Japanese that’s funny and adequate.

3D looks great, and the ability to fast forward combat, or fiddle with a lot of options regarding pacing and cutscene viewing take the edge off the design problems that plagued past 3D Fire Emblems.

Only con is that it’s a rather grindy game. In past games, you had a set number of missions to clear the game in (adding a tighter metagame regarding XP management) but now there’s a ton of optional ones either from spawning monsters on the field or through online interaction. To compensate for these, main story missions have inflated difficulties re: enemy stats, which bloats the game a bit.

    fun, strategic game. slightly repetitive
First of all this is a game that should be played over time not in a couple of days as otherwise it seems a bit repetitive and boring. However other than this the game has little flaws. When I first received it I was pleasantly suprised by the character customisation furthermore the wide choice of classes gives you your own unique individual story to tell to your friends e.g. Master Sage, Thief, Trickster, Pegasus Rider, Wyvern Rider the list goes on and on… definetly a game worth spending your money if your into strategy and I can’t wait for the next game.

An Engaging and Fun Game That I poured more than 300 hours into
An experience that takes you to a fantasy world, Fire Emblem: Awakening is one of the must have titles for the 3DS.

Those who are new and old to the series should have no trouble adapting to the style of the game, with easier options provided at the start as well as harder difficulties for more advanced users. (One named ‘Lunatic’ appropriately so)

It has an expansive storyline and the DLC is also enjoyable, with the later levels very challenging and satisfying to work out a strategy to overcome them and then putting it into play.

Graphics etc are very good, but are not the main selling point of the game, which in terms of gameplay is like a shining beacon announcing itself to the world as awesome.

I would wholeheartedly, (and already have done, as well as bought this game for people) recommend Fire Emblem: Awakening for anyone seeking a gripping challenge to pour time into. 5/5.

One of the best game for 3DS out there
If you are RPG and strategy fan you have to try it. I love animated movies in this game and character development is complex and very satisfying. It’s definitely one of the best game I’v played in a long time.

    Best game ever!
I thoroughly recommend that you buy it! creating your own character and pairing off the characters with each other. I myself have a male MU (My Unit) married to Lucina. The DLC’s have characters from past games that can even assist you in the main storyline if you recruit them
