    CO Alarm
We needed a new CO detector because our previous one was on the wall for a long time. This was more expensive than some but was a familiar make and easy to use, should last 10 years.

Just what you would expect from Fireangel
These are excellent bits of kit, it also reads the temperature. If in the winter you install the battery isolation pins then you can extend the battery life by a good margin! The last unit lasted over 13 years.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersNot sure if it's a 7 year or 10 year life.
The product information on Amazon says “Long-life 10 year battery
The alarm comes with a sealed, tamper proof battery that will last the lifetime of the alarm. We recommend that alarms are replaced after 10 years.”
Yet on the front of the instruction book it says 7 year life and inside it says “Under normal operating conditions, the power pack will last for the lifetime of the product i.e. 7 years”

So make of that what you will, I’ll aim for 7 years personally.

Looks good and works as a thermometer too
Most of these CO monitors are white boxes that do nothing. But this one has a display that shows the temperature as well as doing it’s main job. Looks like good quality and is made by the same people that make monitors sold by British Gas. So when the engineer comes to service my boiler, they can’t object to my CO monitor!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our Users...5yrs later it saved my life
When a piercing alarm went off the other day I had no idea what it was… something in the kitchen was ringing, but what?? Then I found it, long forgotten, the CO monitor has sat unattended on a shelf for 5 and a half years. The display showed CO was at 200ppm. The gas engineer I called out to look at the boiler tells me I could have been unconscious in 10 mins.

It’s really good to have a digital display. On opening door and windows I could see the CO levels go back down to zero. And on closing the door I could see the CO climbing again to 20, 25 ppm…

I’m ordering another one now… (well, the new/current model) as the existing monitor has a layer of kitchen grease on it. Seems a small price to pay for safety.

Works straight out of the box
Known brand, reasonably priced, works straight out of the box. Our chimney sweep mentioned it was a good brand so all good so far
Only had it for two months so no idea of longevity hence 4 stars.

Well made and easy to install
I purchased this product because I didn’t have a Carbon Monoxide Alarm. This particular product is very light and easy to install. In fact no installation is required as it can be easily sited on top of a cabinet. What I particularly like about it is that it is reasonably priced and suitable for placing in a confined space. I would definitely recommend this to anyone thinking of buying this sort of thing.

    Required by law in Scotland
Connected smoke and heat alarms are now a legal requirement. My electrician installed the kit and I had already purchased this one. It does not require installation, it is a stand alone unit. She said that it was an excellent unit, at a good price and stylish.
It sends out a light pulse to let you know it is working. For peace of mind it is priceless.
    Highly recommended.
The markets are flooded with cheaper options, some may not be of the required safety levelI won’t take a risk, what price do you put on safety equipment?

Carbon monoxide detector with built in thermomete
A carbon monoxide detector is an essential safety precaution if you have a gas fire in your living room. It will let out a shrill noise if your chimney gets blocked, for example by a bird’s nest. Although this is very unlikely to happen, it is better to err on the safe side! This carbon monoxide detector has the advantage that it doubles up as a room thermometer, which is useful if you are trying to control your expenditure on gas! The drawback with this unit is that it cannot be opened and the battery cannot be replaced. The battery lasts about 7 years and the unit will start to bleep forcing you to order a replacement from Amazon.

I got this to replace my last detector that kept alarming for no reason ( i have a back up downstairs) so I ordered this one for the display as well as the alarm. I have had fire angel products before and they are very good. Would recomend this unit. It sits next to the boiler cupboard looks nice.

The Visual Display Gives Great Informatio
I got this item as it is now essential for the renewal of the Boat Safety Certificate. The engineer who carried out my test likes this type of display as it gives warning of lower levels of CO than is triggered by an audible warning alone.

I'm about to buy a replaceme
I’m about to buy a replacement for the one I bought early in 2015. After almost seven years of use the battery is still okay, since buying this monitor we have only bought CO2 and smoke detectors with sealed batteries. It is comforting to know that we don’t have to keep replacing batteries, and as sensors only have a lifespan of 7-10 years nothing is wasted, and we don’t find ourselves in a situation where we have a functioning battery, but the sensor has failed. We have tested that the monitor works on a few occassions, perhaps not as often as we should have done, though the battery has been tested on a regular basis. Looking at what is currently available I don’t see anything better, so have ordered an identical replacement.

    Effective alarm and room thermomete
I bought this to replace previous model purchased in 2012 which has just failed having out-lived advertised battery life. I can vouch for it’s longevity then. It sits unobtrusively on a shelf. Omits a loud ring when tested and I sleep easy at night secure in the knowledge that it is doing its job. I like the display which can also show the room temperature. I have no problem with recommending this as a fine security product.

    Battery Life Not Great.
A very simple product and easy to install / use. This is the second one I have had, the previous one having a dying battery. This is my main criticism in that the battery does not last the claimed 10 years and is not replaceable, in common with several Fireangel products. In fact, anyone handy with a screwdriver and soldering iron could change the battery. The only reason I didn’t is because I could only purchase batteries in a pack of 10 so it was cheaper to replace the whole alarm!

    It works
After my last gas boiler service the engineer advised me I needed a new CO alarm. British Gas wanted 67 to install a new one so I decided to buy this one instead. It’s very simple. Just remove the little bit of plastic strip and it works. Screws are supplied but as I don’t have a drill I used Gorilla Tape to attach it to the top of the door to the boiler room. This is not recommended to attach it to wallpaper. The instructions for use are very clear and simple. As it has a digital display you can check the reading easily.

You can see percentage wise if CO is present.
I needed a device that gave a visual percentage reading of CO as I use a portable butane fuelled gas fire to heat my home. I too wanted a device that was made & sold by a UK manufacturer that carried all the relevant safety certification to conform with UK health & safety regulations. I wanted & needed that assurance to have the confidence in the unit to be able to detect CO at a very early level before it became toxic & a danger to life so I could start to ventilate my living area before it was too late.

This unit does all of the above.

    Does the job
Wasn’t sure about this item as has never bought one. On arrival I realised I would need to make some holes in the wall as it needs to be held up by two nails/screws. Holes in the wall…something else I’ve never had to do. However, I had also bought some Suguru in the same parcel and thought I’d try to make some “nails”. And what do you know? It worked:-) The boiler engineer came round the other day and asked if we had a monoxide alarm and I pointed up as he then proceeded to push the test button on it. Holding my breath I waited for it to fall away from the Suguru nails….but no Mr boiler engineer was happy that it worked and I was happy it stayed on the wall.

A great carbon monoxide monitor. I’ve been using it for about a year now and it works (you can test it by running your car for a minute in a garage with the door closed, but just for the test, then open and air asap!) and seems strong enough to carry around and use where you want.

First one faulty but second one grea
Like some other reviewers, the first one I was sent was faulty out of the box. It read high levels of CO almost immediately and the alarm went off within hours of activation but the emergency gas man could find any CO. He said it was not uncommon for alarms to be faulty out of the box and even the brand new 2000 monitor he had picked up the day before had been faulty. Anyway, my replacement came quickly without any hassle and it’s working fine. It’s small and more discrete than my old one. My advice, if you buy one, is to activate it in the morning when you’re going to be home all day, so that if it does go off because of a fault it won’t happen at bedtime and you won’t have to stay up waiting for the gas man (which is what happened to me!) .
