Powerful. Not quite so easy as older model as there are two switches instead of one.

This product is built well and powerful enough for what it’s designed for but, it’s bulky, not particularly light and quite cumbersome to use.
If I was to buy another, I would go for a lighter smaller version. Other than that, it strims ok in larger spaces

As it is quite heavy it’s less easy to use than some

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat piece of kit. It arrived in good time too which was great as my petrol strimmer had broken down and my wife wanted the garden done and wasn’t accepting any excuses. Like you, I had read the reviews of it being too heavy. Nonsense. At 3kg it’s no heavier than 3 litres of milk and if that’s too heavy then you should get someone in. Easy stuck together and simple to operate. Only criticism might be the cable length but then I knew that anyway. And I how did I cope with this apparently insurmountable problem I hear you say? Simple. I used an extension lead like we always did years ago. And I was using it in my front garden a couple of hot honeys came past and remarked how cool I looked with my new device. Epic.

I wasn’t sure about it when I was buying it because I had never used one before but very soon after I started using it I got the technique and I can now do some nice cool shapes on my lawn.

Came well packed with instructions. It is a bit heavy but not too bad. I needed extension lead to reach opposite side of garden but yes I do have a bigger garden. Safeguarding option is really handy around plants. Thank goodness haven’t trimmed off yet any. Have used it twice all around fence and edges so far works well. Easy to clean and store it. I really only wish it would be a bit lighter.

I found the tiny diagrams for assembly not very helpful. So, I looked at further information on line. Once assembled and the battery charged. My first reaction is that it is very powerful and quickly cut the grass and any plants overhanging. In the edging mode it actually cleared rough edges and gave a straight line edge.
I have only used it once so far but will likely use it once a week from now on. The battery had a lot of its capacity left after I had finished. A good feature.
Was pleased to see the sensible advice not to leave the battery flat, especially during winter. I suggest that the charger and battery are kept indoors during winter with a charge every couple of months.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt’s replacing a 30 year-old one and it is the difference between a Morris Marina and a new BMW. The spinning power varies with the resistance of what it’s cutting, the strimmer cord feed works well and the cord drum is easy to change (a major plus compared to the old one). The secondary wheel makes it much quicker and easier to cut the lawn edge, than using edging shears.

A word of warning, wear shoes when using. It is much more powerful than my old one and it flicked a stone that cut my foot (though not badly). It is also bigger and heavier than my old Black and Decker and does not go into tight corners so easily.

All told an excellent machine at a reasonable price.

The line spool that came fitted in the unit was cross-wound and would not feed. I had to untange it and rewind the cutting line twin spool. It now works fine.

Bought to replace a corded Flymo that finally died. Watched a few review videos on YouTube and decided to go cordless. So far, so good. Lack of cable is a definite advantage and battery life is good. We have a lengthy perimeter and we use the Flymo continuously for over 40 minutes without issue. Pleased with the purchase and would recommend it. Youtube video was helpful when assembling it.

We finally ditched the old corded strimmer for one of these cordless versions. So far it’s been brilliant and very easy to use. Not heavy and being able to turn the head to do boarders works well. The handle can also be layed flat to help get under garden furniture etc which is a great idea.

After having a rechargeable battery one for a few years and then finding the charge started to fall away I decided to opt for this cable one. Other than the inconvenience of the cable there is no difference in their performance, the price factor being the one consideration.

Took me a little while to get used to this. There is plenty of adjustment for height and different head angles so you can use it as an edger as well. The cord is long enough for our garden and it has adequate cable storage making the whole thing easy to store in a small space. My only reservations are the auto feed on the strimming wire didnt seem to auto feed all the time and I’ve had to remove the cassette to reset it a couple of times. The whole thing is quite heavy so after a while your arms ache and that also makes your finger ache holding the trigger in. It does what it is supposed to do quite quickly though so you dont have to carry that weight long. It could maybe do with some sort of shoulder strap?

Used this product as a strimmer. It’s quite powerful, reasonably easy to assemble but after one use the cylindrical head that rotates in its socket appears to not be sitting correctly in its socket.
The worst thing about this piece of equipment is that it is far too heavy. Not something you could hold or operate for long periods. Its def not lightweight as it said.

  27. Anonymous says:

Heavier than other strimmers I have used before including a similar corded flymo. We have a fairly large 5m X 8m lawn and it was OK for me but my wife complained about the weight. Easy to use and adjust for different heights and angles of use. The line feed seems good.

Assembly was more fiddley than expected, definitely need a couple of reads of the assembly instructions. It’s a little bit heavy and is uncomfortable to keep the trigger pressed in. But this might be by design considering i burnt my last one out by holding the trigger in too long.

I have used the product two or three time since I bought it – it trims and edges just as well as the aged one that it replaces. The length of the handle which is shorter than it’s predecessor could be a problem for taller folk after prolonged use.

  31. Sheila Vilvens says:

     United Kingdom 🇬🇧

Plenty powerful for home gardens and strumming around lawn borders. Seems to get through thicker grass fairly well if you take your time. Swivel feature for getting edges is great! Only thing I don’t like is the slightly awkward handle / button to activate it, your thumb aches after a short while holding it.

  32. Anonymous says:

It seems to work well and be slightly more powerful than my old Flymo that had a larger battery. It is ridiculous that it was cheaper to buy this new model than replace the battery on my old one. Not very eco friendly of Flymo.

The only issue I have with this is it is quite heavy to use and therefore not the easiest on your arms. Luckily the garden isn’t that big but certainly something to consider. The edger setting is quite good.

Once you’ve got it setup and gotten over the fact it requires a little bit of elbow grease it’s a very decent product. I’ve used mine a few times and it’s exactly what I want. You can see from video reviews online it edges well and it’ll strim down grass and weeds no problem at all. I’m extremely happy with the purchase.

It does require some elbow grease. Weighs 3kg but it’s obviously sticking out a fair way in front of you. It’s much easier than going round the garden with shears though in my opinion.. granted they’re lighter but you spend 5x longer going around with them and I don’t know about you but my back/arms hurt after using them.

Assembly instructions are awful, absolutely awful. There is a good video online however which made setting it up easy enough, would throw the instructions they send you straight in the bin.

I’d never used a strimmer before and I wish someone had written this – you can go right up to the fence with it, use it right next to a patio. It doesn’t have a blade on it so you aren’t going to damage anything with it. Think it uses the little bit of cable inside to slice through the grass.

Very good piece of kit and I’m happy with it. Just be mindful of the weight.

Performance wise this is brilliant. I don’t have a lot of experience with strimmers however this one really does the job well and quick. I very nearly got put off buying this after reading the reviews suggesting it’s too heavy but I’m glad I did buy it, it’s not too bad regarding weight. The only gripe I have with this is, the lever takes a lot of squeeze and can hurt your hand after a while. This is the only part that needs improving.

Had the previous model, so already knew that I liked the style. I find the guidewheel very helpful as you don’t have to support the weight of the strimmer. It’s slightly larger than the old model, but I’m getting used to it already. Only had a few weeks and battery is great so far – I have a small front and back garden with grass to edge on all sides and it will easily do both on one charge. Assembly was not too bad, but found reading the instructions and then looking at the pictures and the finished picture on the box best. I didn’t put the metal plant guard on as I think it gets in the way and the plants have to take their chances where they stray over the grass!

The strimmer was fairly easy to assemble although the diagrams were not straight forward. It was difficult to decide which was the right way up for the guard etc. This strimmer has a double ‘cord’ although this was not mentioned in the details. One cord works fine but the other keeps breaking so I have just given up on it and use a single cord only. It’s probably quicker than a pair of hand shears given the time I spent trying to get the second ‘cord’ to work.

I’ve only used this 3/4 times but so far it has done the job well. Trims the grass well, tidied up the edges really nicely, and as of yet I have had no issues with the wire inside.
    Seems pretty easy to clean.
I don’t have the largest garden but I did need an extension cable to be able to use this in all areas.

Comes in a surprisingly small box and is a bit tedious to assemble. However, once assembled it is a solid, really well made strimmer. Excellent build quality and power. It’s only downfall in my opinion is that it is heavy and more importantly unbalanced. To make it worse the wheel is pretty useless because it’s just too thin. I found it kept falling off the edge of the border you were trying to trim. It needs to be two or three or even four times wider than it is. With the wheel not working as it should you find yourself supporting the full weight of the machine all the time. Believe me, after a while your arms start to notice.
Although they state that the length is adjustable, this is really for shorter people since even at maximum extension the pole is not that long.
I honestly don’t know how to rate this. I think if you don’t mind the weight then it’s a very powerful, well made machine, but if you do mind the weight then it will be a disaster. I would really recommend the average person to go for a smaller machine or one that is better balanced. I guess it’s unfair to mark it down for that, but I give it five stars with a warning – don’t buy it unless you are confident your arms can take the strain!

This strimmer and edger replaces an almost identical one I have had for years, which has been taken apart to repair, successfully, but now is not fully working . This replacement was bought at the end of the normal season when it would be used, so has only had a quick test to see it was working ok. I love the fact that with a twist of the working section it changes from working on the flat to working as an edger. Great garden product at a great price. It arrived in its fairly sturdy cardboard box with no extra wrapping over it, but make sure that the box and contents are ok as soon as you can. In these Covid restrictive times you are not signing for deliveries so check for any damage on delivery.

This is a terrific tool. I’ve had a similar corded strimmer for over 20 years that gave Stirling service, but the wheel got a bit wobbly and mad edging the lawn a pain as the strimmer line kept breaking every few yards owing to it hitting edge paving. Now with this cordless version I can strimmer my lawn edge in about 5-10 minutes. No breakages. No getting out my extension lead to plug into and tripping over the cable. Absolute bliss. This kit is powerful and the battery is long lasting, meaning I can edge the lawn many time over without the need to re-charge. Whether it will last as long as my previous corded model remains to be seen, but I liv3 with high hopes. Excellent product.

I bought this device following a disappointing experience with a ‘bladed’ strimmer from a different manufacturer, which I disliked – too ferocious!
This Flymo is easy to assemble and, with its light weight and wide range of adjustments, very comfortable to use. I particularly like its ability to easily turn the head through 90 degrees for edging.

Already have corded version, this version very good without the nuisance of a mains cable. Easy to guide and gives very good edges to lawn. Very impressed. BUT assembly was a nightmare, supplied in many sections, carefully followed instructions, partway through found one end of the shaft connecting top handle to cutting unit had been supplied incorrectly by manufacturers. As one end already been locked by spring clip, it proved impossible to fit other end (spring loaded). Rang manufacturers to no avail, no help due to Coronavirus. It obviously would not go back in box in it’s half assembled state. However with a little intuition managed to rectify manufacturers error by brute force and undoing crimped fittings, took two adults to try and adjust height adjustment, again with brute force. I think I was unlucky. But now complete, very happy with my purchase.

Although this performs very well, it is very heavy.

The various planes of use, i.e. vertical and horizontal make cutting very accurate.

Use the wheel, it does help when needing to cut for long periods and to take away some of the strain of holding onto it.

A medium-weight trimmer for medium-weight tasks. The only trimmer I know that leaves a neat and accurate edge to lawns. This can be achieved as a result of the unique running wheel, which when positioned at the edge of the lawn, can be accurately guided to permit the plastic cutter cable to leave a professional finish – either straight lined or curved.

I have purchased other trimmers supposed to be suitable for edging and these have been a disappointment. A sound investment for those who take pride in their lawns and who require an impressive edge.

I only needed a lightweight strimmer for a medium sized garden and this fit the bill. For the price, this is a good quality machine, easy to assemble and to operate. Time will tell, but it looks like it should last long enough for my needs. Obviously not as aggressive as a motor driven strimmer but cuts through most heavy grass with a bit of patience and light grass with ease. Would recommend.

I was thrilled when I first got this. It has a head on it that you can adjust and it’s great for trimming the edge but ti’s very heavy. I’m a woman but I suffer from a bad back so it was problematic in that way. It’s a beautifully made product well thought out, and good for the money. However the thing that absolutely let it down was as with all strimmers the blooming wire. It had a double one so I thought thank God for that I won’t have to keep stopping switching it off to save my fingers and sorting out the wire every two minutes. Nope it still did it That thing when the wire snaps and you have to either disasemble it or get a pair of tweezers to pull it out. It took longer to do that but it’s still the same. Still a beautiful piece of kit, if you want sturdy and reliable this is it.

This item was to replace my old strimmer of similar type. The new item is lighter and you press a button to swivel the head to cut the grass edge. The strimmer cord to cut the grass is a bit weak, so replaced it with a thicker one. better now. Why is the electric lead always to short, needs to be another 3m long to strim my garden without it pulling at the plug. Don’t have a big garden either. Great price.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAs usual, the item arrived promptly. Taking it out of the box presented many pieces for asesmbly. Quite easy to follow instructions too so all’s good there. Now, getting the main shaft into the handle proved quite frustrating as the fitting is really tight, despite me undoing the adjustment collar fully. I had to really push hard to get it in and the adjustment collar wouldn’t tighten but no bigee as the shaft is that tight I doub’t I’ll ever get it out again.
Secondly, the supporting handle is easy to fit but don’t think you’ll get to hold it for long as it slips from a set position which makes handling the strimmer with confidence a bit of a random experience. I don’t use it as I hold the shaft instead. That makes it a little bit awkward to get the right working height due the adjuster being, well, non adjustable. Apart from these niggles, the strimmer does a good job and worth the 50 I paid. I like the load sensor which increases power if it feels there’s a need and that makes cutting through dense weeds and grasses very easy.
Oh, and you’ll need an extension lead too as the cable is what I suppose to be a standard length but not even close to reaching the edge of even the smallest garden.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI am actually glad the auto feed does not actually work having read other reviews – I find machine very heavy so need to take a break fairly often and am happy to turn it upside down and feed manually – rather than lots of wastage every time I stopped (as the auto feed was supposed to do). Once or twice I found the cord had vanished inside the cover as it wasn’t auto feeding and I’d not done it regularly manually – but not serious as was easy enough to take cover off and sort it out.
I’ve only used it for an hour and so far am pretty happy –
    A few days later…
Tried using it on grass and it was a disaster as the steady handle refuses to stay in place – resulting in the strimmer rapidly falling onto grass and gouging big patch before you realise – I’ve order some copper wire and can hopefully bodge it so the handle doesn’t jump out and drop the machine!
Much later- copper wire coiled to stop it jumping out – bodge job but sorted – pity about hassles as otherwise very powerful machine and overall pleased with i

I bought this as I now find my mower too heavy to get up the 2 steps into our front garden. (I have fibromyalgia)
It’s not as light as I’d hoped but is manageable for the short time it takes to strim a small area. It arrived earlier than expected and was well packaged.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersIt’s a bit heavier than previous strimmers I’ve had but then its sort of more heavy-duty if that makes sense. It’s fine for me but I wouldn’t recommend for anyone who prefers lightweight options. It is really powerful though so I would definitely recommend some safety glasses – I’ve had a few stones fly off at quite a speed. Overall though I’m very pleased as its given the edges of my lawn some really clear definition.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersMy old electric Flymo trimmer finally went bang, its done me proud for 24 years,so i was very dubious about getting a cordless one, well having now used it,i needant have worried ! Used it all round my lawn and my neighbours, which took a good 20 minutes and still have 1 green light showing on the battery, very impressed. Its very light and easy to use. The edging facility is much better, with the bigger wheel,as compared with the roller on my old one. The only minor problem i found was that with the plant guard on,i could not trim up tight to the wall,so took it off temporarily, that allowed it to trim right up to the wall. I know its early days, but at the moment,i am very pleased with this trimmer.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThis was very easy to assemble. Battery charges fairly quickly and it will strim a huge area on one charge.
The strimming head revolves from horizontal to vertical very easily, and the roller allows you to roll the machine along the lawn edges very easily.
Great for those of us that can’t cut a stright line or have difficulty holding the machine

    Bad points
The auto line feed has never worked whatever i do to help it. Supposed to advance when you stop and start it. but never ever has.
The manual feed though works very well and once you are used to it …..

BEWARE THE BATTERY. AFTER 6 MONTHS THE BATTERY DIED!
THE COST OF A NEW ONE IS ASTRONOMICAL !!!!!

Overall. one of the better strimmer i have ever used

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersMine arrived today.

I bought it to replace a petrol strimmer that I’ve had for years, and got fed up with the amount of time it took to start it.

I’ve got a great Flymo mower, which I use with a Flymo extension lead as I have a big garden, so this Flymo strimmer made sense.

    However there are some issues.

Firstly compared to a petrol strimmer it is heavy with the weight in the wrong place.
A petrol strimmer has the motor at the end you hold, so it’s quite well balanced in the hand for strimming – this strimmer is heavy at the other end which isn’t.

It wasn’t easy to put together, and the length adjuster is so stiff mine won’t move at all.

I was very surprised to find a fixed cord.

My Flymo mower has a separate cord, which I can use with the Flymo outside heavy-duty extension lead – I will have to cut the lead and fit male and female sockets. (I did do this, bought the plugs/sockets from B&Q).

The cable supplied is not too long either, I could only get about a quarter of the way up my garden.

The nylon strimmer wire is very thick and cumbersome to wind on the spool.

But the biggest issue I have is the auto feed.

On my petrol strimmer you could auto feed by tapping the head on the ground.

With this Flymo strimmer it auto feeds everytime you take your hand off the trigger whether you want to auto feed or not – this means the strimmer will eat its way needlessly and wastefully through nylon strimmer wire.

I would like to have seen a way to disable this feature so that one could manually feed only.

It’s ironic really, because the nylon strimming wire is so thick it should last for ages but the machine just chews it up with this design flaw.

Not particularly light weight but easy to use. I love the easy release button to swivel the head around so you can use the wheel to edging. Does edging with ease. I found it rather difficult to assemble with very poor instructions. But overall I am very happy with my purchase and the performance of this trimmer. Would have no hesitation in recommending.
UPDATE after using this now multiple times, my only complaint is the line is horrid. Firstly, it does not auto feed as advertised. You have to push a button manually on the side. The line breaks very easily so you often have stop and pull more line out. Very annoying. Have now ordered the heavy duty line with hopefully more luck.

I bought this as I wanted a cordless option rather than wired and it really is a good strimmer. Some of the other ones I have bought in the past seem to be more flimsy and this has been great and the cutter more sturdy. The battery life has been good and lasts 35-40 minutes. Its also pretty light to carry around the garden and swivels so you can cut a straight edge along the boundary, which is quite powerful as well.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersEasy to switch from standard strimming to edge cutting. The supporting hand handle has many adjustable positions which is good for support and use when in the various positions. It does come with a metal guard piece that was a bit of a pain as it stops you getting really close to a fence edge from one angle, but hey, it’s detachable, so problem solved. I think it’s a safety thing so I am not encouraging anyone else to remove it, my choice only!! Anyway it’s powerful enough for standard strimming and you can get a great edge with it so performance wise for domestic use on small to medium sized plots it’s ideal. Battery life for me around 20 – 25 minutes, no issues with continuous use. Obviously plasticy but as long as you don’t intend using it for anything other than strimming it’s fine!

Although I haven’t used it a lot ,,,,bad weather, I found certain features made this item easy to use, namely 1no)no electric cord,2)a guide wheel is fitted assisting with strimming along lawn border3)fairly lightweight,4)found cutting cord likely to last longer than replacement plastic blades..Lastly if you have used G-Tech strimmer you may have had problems using clips allowing removal of batteries etc, This has not been a problem with this machine even for my somewhat arthritic hands.

I bought the previous model around 10 years ago and had no complaints until it finally stopped a few weeks ago .
I didn’t think twice about ordering a replacement newer model as the last one lasted for 10 years . The first thing I noticed was the weight it felt slightly heavier than the previous version but it’s still easy to use . Another new feature I’m not sure I like is the secondary cut off switch which is required to start the strimmer along with the squeeze handle .if it lasts as long as the previous version I will more than happy

Golden Review Award: 32 From Our UsersThis is a great garden strimmer, very versatile and it has a unique auto twin feed cutter line. I the didn’t find myself having to pull the wire out everytime it hit a large object. I have to say I’ve never bothered to look at the weight of strimmer before buying it, but wish I had in this case, the strimmer packs a 500w motor and has a result weighs a hefty 3.1kg. I found my forearms labouring little after quarter of an hour. The strimmer does come with an additional adjustable handle and once this is in the correct position it help to distrubute the weight more evenly. It has three tilt adjustment and also comes with a handy wheel for raised edges. It also has shrub guard and is telescopic. I would’nt hesitate recommending this product.

    UPDATE! 04/2021.

The strimmer tilt mechanism failed, would no longer lock into the downward trim position! when the strimmer was switched on the ball kept spinning into the ‘shrub’ and ‘edge’ positions, rendering the strimmer useless really!!

Contacted Flymo support, posted off the metal manufacturing label and they replaced the strimmer with a new one under the 2 year warranty….superb customer service. I have my doubts about the 3 way tilt mechanism long term, we’ll have to see how this one fares? but If I was to buy another strimmer new, I would opt for a basic single potision model.

Golden Review Award: 42 From Our UsersIt had to be assembled which wasn’t too difficult but the diagrams were not very useful. I’ve never had or used a strimmer before so I wasn’t sure where the guard and so on would go. The written instructions on the following page were useful. It took me 40 minutes.
In the garden, the thistles proved to be no match for this strimmer. They seem to grow about a foot overnight and have tough stalks. It has rained since then so I haven’t had the chance to do the rest, but the thistles are the worst so I am really pleased with it. It will help me to keep things decent.

I held the steady hand with my left hand throughout, and my arm was shaking after I finished and had put it away. It shook for quite a while. I am not sure if it is the vibration or the fact that I am not strong. Next time I will use my right hand to steady it to see if it is better. I am a small elderly woman so this last point probably wouldn’t affect anyone else.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersThis is the second strimmer I’ve owned and it’s a big improvement on my previous one, which was around the same price. The assembly instructions are pretty poor but once you’ve worked out what the diagram is actually supposed to be telling you, it’s easy enough to put together with only two or three parts. It could be lighter and I think it could certainly be a little more ergonomic – it’s not so heavy that it’s a major problem, but my arms were aching after I used it to trim the long grass along the edges of my medium-sized garden. It has a handy feature where you can change the angle of the strimming head which is great for trimming the edges of flower beds etc. Overall, it’s good value for money assuming you just want it to trim edges that are inaccessible a lawnmower rather than take out an entire garden of overgrown weeds or something.

Golden Review Award: 76 From Our UsersI have had a similar Flymo for many years (10+) and it worked solidly and consistently until very recently. When it finally gave up I researched, as I always do, many of the products on offer. I look at cost, ease of use, features, weight and comfort. I finally settled on this model, a Flymo again, and I haven’t been disappointed.
It was delivered promptly and has worked seamlessly. It is easy to handle and the auto feed works well.
The only downside is that I would like a longer electric cable, my last one was a little short too, but this is a small thing and did not impact my 5 star rating. I am very pleased.

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersHad the previous incarnation of this, the 500XT which broke at the telescopic adjuster after three years. Worryingly the design of that hasn’t changed so time will tell if this one goes the same way. There have been a couple of improvements though. Firstly they have put a safety switch on the handle so brutal accidental pedicures shouldn’t be a problem anymore. There aren’t guide marks on the head anymore but that’s because they are no longer needed. Not sure why but the head is much more stable than the previous model so get a nice straight cut when edging. The auto feed could be better. Mostly I think the problem is Flymos twisted line. It’s rubbish and I never use it once the first supplied reel is finished. Standard line works much better. Have no idea what the metal wire is meant to do. Doesn’t lock in place and just gets in the way so have left it off.
I use this mostly for edging where the weight is resting on the wheel. If you are of a light build and mostly want it for strimming rather than edging you might find it a bit heavy.
Over all I am happy with it but time will tell on durability.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBrilliant and Highly Recommended!
I was a bit nervous to purchase this following the prior reviews however, having bought this Electric grass Trimmer, I am extremely pleased! This maybe one of my favourite purchases for the garden yet.
    I have recommended this grass trimmer to a number of people for the following reasons;
    Clear and concise instructions
Easy to put together; the shield and cord are not attached during transport but very easy to do.
The strimmer is self is auto-feeding which means the length of the cord is always the correct length (if not- the clear instructions tell you how to make it do it for itself). Saving me from having to mess with it every time.
The length of the cable is long enough to cover most of the garden (10m cable, but I have a 60 foot + garden and this pretty much gets all over).
The head swivels, meaning that I am able to trim the grass against the fence, then can switch to cut the edging of the grass, saving me from getting the long arm scissors out/ half-moon edger and doing this manually.
It is very light weight and balanced weight, so it can be easily maneuverer around the garden without putting too much stress on your arms.
There is a shield to prevent the grass spraying out everywhere plus a wheel to use for rotation, creating a consistent edge the specific distance from the wall/ edges.
    It is mains operated
The wires are held across two moulded ‘hooks’ for storage

    Negatives:
The auto-feed failed on one occasion, resulting in me manually feeding the dual line, but this is only once (I have had this over a year now and used it on lots of occasions still only one fail).
The grass still can spray out even with the shield; wear long trousers to save little cuts on legs (from experience).
Read the instructions on how to ‘feed’ the cord (basically switch it on/ off a couple of times until you hear a change in the sound).

Overall; for the price a brilliant purchase. Saves time and gives a clean edge to all borders, light and easy to use. Lots of positives for this Grass Edge Trimmer.

Golden Review Award: 29 From Our UsersVery good product in use so far. Very powerful, in fact it almost does away with the need for an half moon edging tool. You could seriously cut patterns in your lawn with it if you were so inclined. I like the white pointers on it guiding your cut. This helps you to stand away from the cutter, giving some safety. Using one hand in this way also makes it comfortable and easy to use. Despite this I would recommend using eye protection. It can throw up small pebbles etc. This particularly so when the line length has been adjusted; small sections of the line are thrown out.
I like the well thought out fittings for holding the cable in storage, and the hook for hanging up the machine.
My only crits. are….The line feed. Maybe it’s me, but I always fine the line on these strimmers a pain.
Too often the line breaks and you find yourself fiddling with the feed, which is never straightforward to fix, especially if the line has disappeared into the holder. But I guess they’re all the same, so this cutter is no worse than any other in that respect.
I’m not so sure of the horizontal cutting. It does the job, but seems a bit awkward to get the right angle.

Golden Review Award: 28 From Our UsersBrill. I have a massive back garden which I sometimes neglect because I really cant be bothered to do it all and this does exactly what I need My front garden is not level and a lawmower cant be used so this is ideal. I’ve also done my neighbours garden with it, which is uneven and rocky so a lawnmower wont go over it. For 30, you just cant ask for much more.
My only problem is that if the line breaks you have to take it apart and adjust it manually. I thought it was supposed to be automatic.

Golden Review Award: 47 From Our UsersDoes`nt feel as solid as my previous model, irritating cable tidy clips, my previous model had a quick release button, also they have not improved the strimmer feed system, the line tends to get hot and stick or jam, and when it breaks you have to click some more line out by hand, if you have an average size garden I think it is quite adequate, and for the price I paid it is good value, one day I will invent a line feed system that does what its supposed to, and not drive the user to talk to it in vain.
