Tips To Achieve The Sharpest Paint Lines

Clean Surface & Let DrySand then clean the area you will be masking and painting before you tape to make sure the surface is dust free. Use a damp sponge and a few drops of washing up liquid mixed in a bucket of warm water. Good stuff but makes extra work
I found this very difficult to remove when trying to create a geometric wall. Took an awful lot of paint off even though it was removed straight away. There was no bleeds and very neat lines but wasn’t worth all the extra touch bits i had to do
The difference between a professional paint job and a mess
I have tried using masking tape to get decent edges when painting before (because I can’t cut-in to save my life) and half the time the tape tore off the paint I was trying to protect and the new paint bled through it. A mate told me about Frog tape and I just tried it. One coat of stain block and two coats of paint and it worked flawlessly. Absolutely fantastic.

Amazing product, wanting to use it for years. Weirdly i thought it would be like celetape but it still like masking tape just sticks to the wall much better and removes leaving no trace. Perfect for edging and creating patterns on walls or canvas.

It comes in a very nice plastic case, which does seem to be a bit excessive for a roll of masking tape and possibly adds to the price.

Worked fine
Didn’t have any problems with this tape. You do have to get a good seal to avoid paint bleed, I found this out by trial and error! It suggests removing when the paint is wet which worked well. I was generally pleased with the result as I am usually a bit of a duffer with things like this.
Definitely worth the money
I purchased this as part of a remodel of my bedroom and I initially purchased some painters tape from a nearby DIY store and it led to paint coming off the walls. I was recommended to try frog tape and was initially suspicious about it’s claims but it was by the best product I purchased. Strong adhesion, easy to peel and the result was strong clear lines. If you have concerns about paint peeling then it’s best to purchase this product or the low tack frog tape which I haven’t tried but it’s recommended for delicate walls.
Frog Tape every time
Made my painting project so much easier. I thought at first it was a bit expensive for a bit of tape but oh did it give great results, easy to apply and remove and took away the need to have a steady hand when painting skirting boards with carpet still in place.
Will definitely be using again.

I recently painted a featured wall in my sons room using the Frog Tape. I’m so happy the way the tape worked. No mess, easy to remove.
Top Tip: peel before the paint dries completely, because it can be alittle more difficult when removing from dries paint.

How did I ever live without this product!
This is my favourite DIY product on the market. I totally love it. I am a repeat customer and can’t recommend Frogtape highly enough. Excellent value for money.
Best tape on the marke
Gives a really clean line and doesn’t let paint seep through plus leaves no sticky residue! Remember to peel off before the paint dries so it doesn’t take any paint off with it and removing at a 45 angle really helps! Best tape I could find and have used, I wouldn’t look anywhere else as this is perfect!

As soon has one coat is dry you can use this low tack tape without the fear of pulling the first coat off.

Easy to use
This tape is amazing. Wish I’d had it for all my decorating over the last 30 years! It does exactly what it says on the tin. It definitely peels off more easily when the paint isn’t fully dry.

Great for artists
I bought this tape for art purposes. I need to attach my watercolour paper to my art board, but often when I try to remove the masking tape it was tearing the paper.
So, I tried this tape and I’m happy to report that it’s very very sticky but removes cleanly and I’ve had no ripped paper.
I like that it’s got a nice container to keep it in.
My husband has even stolen it a couple of times to do projects on the bodywork of his classic car.

We have started using it for masking off before painting instead of the usual masking tape and it does a great job.
Will certainly use it all the time from now on.

Brilliant, used the standard tape on top of a wall just painted with a good quality matt paint over a clean painted previously well painted surface and gloss worked around everything, it came off perfectly and left no marks on the painted wall, clean lines.. Very happy
Worth the money
This product is much better than normal masking tape, protects carpet when going over those skirting boards well and use full for protecting glass etc for the intricate parts, doors etc. Excellent and worth the investme
Sticks so well but be careful!
I used this to paint the edges of the walls and coving. It did do a brilliant job but due to its aggressive adhesion but some of the paint came off when removing the tape. Nevertheless, it did provide an excellent finish in the end.

Good but don't put over new paint even when well dry
I’d love to give it high marks as it helped us get impeccable edges on the paint. However on the smallest job – doing the resealing of the kitchen counter, it fobbed up so bad, I had a meltdown over it.
Stuck it over the paint which had a week to dry. When we applied the sealant and peeled it off it took all the nice new paint with it. It was horrendous.
Do not put it over your new paint even if week old! It will give you sad!

This is a revelation to me. I have always used ordinary masking tape…which invariably goes tacky and removes half of what you are trying to protect. This however is the right track and us a dream to use.

Helps gives a nice finish
I am a DIY person and didn’t believe in wasting my time putting masking tape on. I would much rather waste more time cleaning paint off were it should not be. Extremely time saving for painting applying silicon joints, gives me an almost professional finish

Possibly the best masking tape available
The tape works really well with good adhesion to most surfaces. Easy to use and easy to install. My only complaint is the plastic box that it came in… is it really necessary to use a plastic box when there are so many environmental options available..

Didn’t really want to pay that much for masking tape but very pleased I did. Great stuff. Better than the stuff from own brand DIY shops. You get what you pay for. No paint bleeding and does not lift. Sticks like glue but also removes easily.

This stuff is 100 times better than the awful ordinary paper-like masking tape.
I used it for painting a front door with 8 long strips of glass. Four larger strips to the top and Four shorter to the bottom half.
Took me a while to stick it all in place but wow!! well worth it when the paint dries and you take it off. There was no bleed at all and no paint penetrated the tape.
This was the first time I have ever used this and it will not be the last.
I thought I would be using all the tape but it looks like it is still a new roll.
I fully recommend this to any professional painter or DIY’er.

Very good tape if used correctly. I got a little bit hasty in between coats and let the paint dry only for couple of hours and had a little bit of paint sticking to the tape. When given the paint double the time to dry, there was no issue. Nice sharp lines.

With FrogTape I was able to use a single piece for each edge. It sticks well and doesn’t let the paint bleed through, like with masking tape. Definitely worth the cost!

No bleed through so job looks neat.
Does what it’s meant to do with no awful bleed through. There was only two times( in 3 rolls- bought separately- ) that the paint underneath it came off when removing tape from the wall. Good product. Probably cheaper ones but as was happy with the first roll I thought I’d stick with Frog tape.

Great produc
This stuff is ideal for painting projects. It’s a lot better than your basic masking tape, minimal bleed when painting. I use this on my guitar builds and get great results… I can’t go back to basic masking tape. Definitely worth having roll if you plan any intricate painting.

I ran out of masking tape while decorating and with no time to get the shop, I needed next day/prime delivery. I was reluctant to buy cheap masking tape without seeing it so chose the more expensive option based on fairly good reviews. I’m pleased I did!
I used this to protect my amtico floor while glossing skirting boards. (Please note that the product states this is meant to be used for EMULSION paint and can have unpredictable results if used with gloss – but i was prepared to take the risk.)
I got a nice neat edge and no paint seemed to seep through. Much better than the masking tape I used the night before!
I will be using this to protect the newly glossed skirting and get a straight edge when emulsioning the walls.
In fact I will, from now on, only ever use this when I come to decorate anything.
Comes in a plastic tub, which at first I thought was unnecessary packaging, but actually it’s good for when I stored it away with the decorating kit and I’m sure it’ll keep the tape from drying out.
I think the green tape is brilliant and wortb paying the extra for (over cheap masking tape) anyway.
Update: having bought (and reviewed) the green multisurface variety, I ordered the yellow tape for newly painted surfaces.
Oh dear. I would never advise anyone to use it on emulsioned walls or ceilings. I was painting a wall so used this on the adjacent wall that had been painted for 3 days and the ceiling that had been painted 10 years.
The tape was on for under an hour.
It took off lots of the paint when I removed it. I could touch up the newly painted adjacent wall because I still had that paint, but try matching paint to a white ceiling that has aged 10 years!! I can not face doing the entire ceiling so will have to live with new whiter patches, so that’s a big disappointment.
I did get a really straight edge though.
So maybe it’s best to use this on edges but then accept you might need to touch up just In from the edge when you peel off the tape.
It’s possible that it’s ok if your room is very warm – mine was quite cold. Id read the hairdryer tip but didn’t think it would be necessary in less than an hour.

Absolutely love this tape, it ensures you get a nice straight edge on all your rooms when it comes to decorating. It is just right when it comes to tack so your not taking pieces of your fresh wall off just get the ceiling done and vice versa.
This tape does have a superb second feature for me though and that is it is ideal for 3D Printer Beds. Alot of people out there are using the 3M Blue tape, however this serves a much better function. Its ideal in terms of tack, its just rough enough to ensure things stick and add PVA Glue Stick and the results are second to none.
Also if you find that some prints your having the tape peel and stick to the bottom a quick rinse under the tap and its gone. Its wide enough to ensure your not using loads of it as well. I envisage this roll will last 2-3 months with regular printing. Definitely worth spending a tad more for the results you get.

I haven’t been incentivised to write this review but I’m sure everyone else says the same thing – why buy any other masking tape. Surely Frog tape has sorted all the old annoying problems with tape – too sticky – destroys what it’s attached to, not sticky enough – falls off or is worse than useless, too weak – tears too easily or tears along the length when your taking it off the roll, too hard – seapage underneath. This has sorted it all and despite there being different varieties for different purposes, this is universal!
Simply put; why would you buy anything else.

Still the best on the market,easy to use and wont damage existing paintwork,it’s well protected in the plastic container so the edge will still be straight when you use it.

Also used to wrap my daughters shoe, high heel back on as it snapped within one hour of wearing at the ball . It looked more like a vivienne westwood design by the time we had wrapped it around and reinforced it with duck tape just to get her to the car.

Wider Version !
I always use this, it’s the wider version in case you get sloppy with roller and or paintbrush… I have tried cheaper versions ,with varying success, but have never yet gone wrong with Frog Tape. I also use the yellow Frog tape over recently painted walls and find it peels off a treat, if you pull gently and evenly.

I also use the yellow Frog tape over recently painted walls and find it peels off a treat, if you pull gently and evenly.
I have used cheap making tape before and it cost me so much time as it lifted the paint off. If anyone has had this before it is an absolute pain as you end up having to cut the damaged paint out and sanding filling for a decent finish.
With this tape the tackiness is considerably lower so it lifts off easily. I do find it better if doing multiple coats to lift the tape off between each coat so that paint does not dry and form a skin over the tape. Whilst this does use considerably more tape the cost is insignificant compared to the time if the pint cracks.
Buying on amazon is great because price was comparable and meant saving considerable time trekking to my local diy store

Easily beats masking tape for precision painting jobs
I like the fact it does what it says on the tin so to speak but my mark downs are as follows:-
1. if you wipe down a surface using mild cleanser – I use baby wipes or surface cleaners depending on what’s to hand – the tape won’t
stick down bunt normal masking tape will.
2. after your painting job is complete and you peel this tape of it will peel off any underlying, dried, paint. I’m not talking days later I’m talking
hours.
3. I find it very common with this tape to tend to curve when you’re rolling out along straight edges and if you try to peel off and re-lay
it just complicates things as the tape has now warped etc.
These are just my thoughts – it doesn’t mean don’t buy it and try it for yourself 🙂
I don’t know what I was really expecting when I purchased this. I was expecting some kind of low tack plastic tape. When it arrived it seemed to be just like masking tape leaving my first thought being that I had just paid a lot of money for something that I could get for much cheaper.
I soon learnt that looks are very deceiving. The product applies very well and is easy to keep in a nice straight line. It allows an easy paint over it with no hassles or runs. The most important part is that it is easy to remove and leaves a perfect edge with no runs behind the tape (a common problem I found with masking tape). This was definately worth the money.
Yes it’s much more expensive than standard masking tape. But it much better too, and the rolls are long and last ages. Cheap tape tears as you pull it off the roll, thing doesn’t. It sticks well but also peels off well without leaving anything behind. It’s just better and I don’t bother buying anything else now I’ve tried this. I think it’s totally worth the extra.

Used for protecting wooden doors and picture rails etc whilst painting.
I HATE decorating but didn’t want to pay price for a contractor to paint..
However, I was truly p****d off with cheap bloody masking tape which kept allowing paint to bleed through and was about to throw an almighty tantrum when I saw on youtube someone recommending this!
So I thought, bugger it I will buy some and see. WOW…spot on, done exactly as described. Wish I had found out about this few years earlier

On a serious note, yes more pricey, but saves silly amount of time having to repaint wooden trim etc so worth the price
Great stuff, if you follow the instructions properly. Used it to paint horizontal lines on a wall. 2 days after painting base coat to a plastered wall, applied the tape and painted the alternate colour. Gently removed tape and have perfect crisp lines. Very happy!

Great stuff. Adheres well, and yet is relatively easy to detach again. I like it’s visibility due to colour too. Also, it comes in a plastic storage tub which means when you store it, the adhesive layer does not dry out and lose adhesiveness.

I tried it once because someone gave me some (I was too stingy to buy it myself) but having used it I will never ever go back.

Love this… BUT! I have tried to learn Cutting in and watched lots of videos on You tube. Even bought an angled paint brush and still the paint goes up on the ceiling. There really is a art to this cutting in! Anyway, so I used cheap masking tape which took off half the plaster. Then I found this. For novices like me it has been a lifesaver. I put it on the ceiling and anywhere I need to use it and can paint edges quite fast. However, I do take the tape off quite quickly afterwards and don’t leave it on too long. Once it took off a tiny piece of plaster but it’s the first time that has happened to me. Mostly the lines are quite sharp. Occasionally it seems through in a couple of areas. I am unsure if that is due to me not sticking it down firmly enough but it is still such a better job that I could ever achieve with a free hand at painting. I always use it now – no hesitation. There appears to be a yellow version that is for more delicate painting when I tried to buy it very few people appear to sell it on here so I have just stuck to this one, it’s good enough.

What can I say, does the job much better than normal masking tape and very strong (tensile strength), easy to remove and doesnt leave marks when removed.
I got the wider tape and I’m glad I paid a little more as when painting sometimes you paint the tape and the extra width gave just the right level of protection for plugs/switches and skirting.
I also used this to paint feature walls, so need a clean line finish in the corners of a room and this did a good job at tha

I like it, but to be totally frank there are cheaper alternatives but Amazon has a good price for these compared to B&Q or Wickes.

This is the be all end all masking tape. There’s no contest. I hate writing short reviews because I feel I don’t touch on the points people are hoping to see, but there’s not much else to say. It does exactly what it says on the pack. Some super secret special formula that is very clever and secret that prevents paint from leaking in and binds the masking tape very tightly to the wall, preventing the horror of removing the masking tape after painting and seeing some trickles of paint snuck past. It’s super secret and especially clever and secret because it also doesn’t rip paint off said wall when removed.
There’s even a yellow version that is safe to use on touch-dry painted walls, if you are in a hurry to finish a room in a day or so.
You need masking tape, you buy this. It will not fail you. You get what you pay for in this world – and the price justifies the fact that it is the best in the business. You also get a fair amount for what you pay.
Oh, and it comes in a little plastic tub, so that’s reusable afterwards if you are so inclined – personally I like to use the tubs they come in as a wet paintbrush holder for neatness’ sake.
It has a cute tree frog on it, too. If you like that stuff.

What an amazing find. It seems quite costly when you compare it to ordinary masking tape but it is worth every penny. I bought it after browsing on amazon to paint my skirting boards as I had just had new tiles laid and was worried about getting gloss paint on them. It was very easy to put on and I did not get one spot of paint on my tiles! It was well worth taking the time to put it on. I have used it since on windows and on handles which I needed to paint round (couldn’t get them off the doors). But the best was huge swathes of skirting boards which had to be painted and getting no paint on the pine floors (always got paint on them before no matter how careful). I meant I could get the painting done very quickly and confidently. I wish this had been available years ago. There is also the yellow Frog tape for more delicate painting such as emulsioned paper – I used this when painting my fireplace with equal success
