5.0 out of 5 stars Great for smaller branches/fallen limbs
This is great for quick tidy up jobs when there’s some storm damage. I tend to find my petrol tools sulk for a day or two before they are willing to fire up but this battery saw is great for the lighter urgent work.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great piece of ki
Got the bare tool as I already have a battery and charger with another ryobi tool. This little saw is great, I should have bought one ages ago instead of struggling with my rubbish corded one! It’s light and powerful. The battery lasts about 30 mins and cuts through logs and branches like butter.
Great price for 5Ah!
I’ve tried un-branded copies previously but they didn’t last, whereas my Ryobi One+ batteries just keep going.
This 5Ah battery was on promotion at around the same price as the 2.5Ah battery, so it seemed to good to pass up. I thought it might be a little bulky, but (although a fraction heavier) it’s the same size as my 4Ah batteries.
Very happy with the price, performance and (hopefully) longevity.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good saw
Surprisingly good saw. I haven’t used it much, just for trimming but it’s fine. Only tricky bit is fitting the chain. I’ve other chain saws and none are as fiddly as this one. But hey, it works well.
This is well made and easy to maintain. The ONE+ battery concept is a long overdue idea. Have 3 other Ryobi battery powered units (drill, extended chainsaw branch lopper and leaf blower) all of which came with a battery and a charger. All batteries have different Amp Hours (Ah) ratings and all fit the chainsaw that wasn’t supplied with a battery. The chainsaw, like my other Ryobi tools, are as well made if not better than my old tools that they replace (some of which are highly rated names).
Bought for my new lawnmower after I found my existing 1.5 ah batteries did not last long enough. This battery was just about enough to cut my two lawns if I’m quick but the 6ah version would probably have been bette
I already have a petrol saw for work on thick logs.
The only poor reviews on this seem to be from people who thought they were buying the power of a petrol saw, but driven by battery.
I have a lot of wood that is about as thick as your thigh, or less, from trimming trees, and occasionally thicker.
This is perfect for the job of trimming the trees and then sawing into ca. 16″ lengths.
It cuts half the speed of my petrol saw, and that’s not a bad thing if you’re working in tight quarters or at awkward angles.
Working single handed, I can easily get about an hour and a half work out of an original Ryobi 4Ah battery.
Not sawing all the time, of course, but positioning for cutting, throwing into wheelbarrow etc.
Lighter to use than a petrol saw, but don’t forget helmet, boots and chaps! It’ll still cut your leg off, even it is battery.
Assembly and maintenance is very easy a well. Just check the tension every half hour of cutting, and check the saw oil level. It keeps well lubricated.
Get a file (and handle) for it, and a quick swipe every hour or so at the angle indicated in the chain, and it’ll cut quicker.
Replacement chains and bars very easy to get, and cheap as well, but *do* learn to sharpen your chain!
Happy and safe sawing!
Easy to put together. Only quibble was chain arrived kinked and took some time to straighten, it was not damaged in any way. I would wear gloves though when fitting as the blades are quite sharp. Instructions are helpful, but I found it easier to watch a video on YouTube. You do get oil but only the bare minimum, so I would purchase extra if you are going to use it a lot. It does leak oil, mostly from the chain, so I would check the oil level every time before use. I would also spray the chain with wd40 for wood sap. Keep the chain lock and cover on when not in use and you are good to. Always wear proper clothing, gloves and eye protection.
What A Machine
Well what a Machine this is, i was so shocked at the ease and power of this, i have only ever used Petrol Chainsaws so i thought i would try one of these as i had read mixed reviews, and happy to say was all good, i will be using this alongside my petrol saws a great piece of kit to go with my others
I do not usually bother with reviews, I expect equipment to perform as described. In this case, however I am making an exception. I have previously owned a mains electric chain saw and a petrol versiion. Both were unsatisfactory in different ways. The mains one gave up and was fiddly with a wire attached. The petrol was difficult to start and eventually wouldn’t. So I opted for this battery-powered item. I was impressed at how straightforward and easy to assemble it was. I was dubious about a battery being powerful enough, but I need not have worried. It easily gave half an hour of work and I suspect would have done over an hour. OK I wasn’t cutting down a forest, but recent storms had brought down a tree in my garden and this tool did the job of cutting it up without any problem. I am impressed and would recommend this saw for any domestic use.
Senior moment with the chai
Chain presented a problem at first. But worked it out finally
Excelle
Cuts quickly ..eats the battery life fast. (So I bought additional 5Ah batteried)
Solid Performe
I’ve had this a year now and am very satisfied. It is a bit slower to cut than my petrol chainsaws but it is good enough for most of my needs and more convenient and so much quieter.
Great tool to gave in your workshop.
East to use, lightweight . Shopped around for the best price.
Ideal for whe
You want an occasional use chainsaw. I use it for tidying woodlands and cutting logs. Very easy to use. This is my first one+ tool and on using this I will be purchasing other one+ tools
Fantastic
Great bit of kit and at a really good price
Performance is amazing
Cuts logs like a knife through butte
Great range of products.
After buying this, I have bought 3 more Ryobi One tools. They are so light, powerful, and ergonomic. I’ve switched my entire tool needs to this range!
Great convenience for light to medium cutting duty
Perfect for the garden reno we did. The builders struggled to get their petrol models to start so we let them use this and it’s so convenient. No engine to maintain or 2 stroke stench. It took just 2-3 6A batteries to clear our garden which was really great run time. Definitely keep a chain sharpener around as like all saws it won’t work as well once the chain is dulled. Also get chain oil and keep it topped up.

I cut a tree dow
Says it all really – I cut a tree down! And big enough I had plenty of time to shout “timbeeeerrrrrr” as it fell. Now to chop it up!
This saw worked well. Better than expected. Cutting well but spare batteries are a must when away from home . The blade stayed sharp but needs regular adjustment, more than my petrol saw. Good up in the tree as no pull start and not too heavy.
excellent chainsaw
brilliant chainsaw, easy to use and easy to set up. Battery last approx 20mins, but I have 3, so not an issue. I have cut down a few trees approx 12″ diameter with ease.
Ryobi OCS1830 18 V 30 cm Bar ONE+ Cordless Brushless Chain Saw
This has saved us a lot of time and energy. Obviously not the biggest of chainsaws but we were realistic when we purchased it. Don’t expect to chop trees down with this – it is for branches – and deals with them pretty well. Overall we are pleased with it and it will save us a lot of time and energy.
Very good chainsaw I’ve got a lot of Ryobi tools works very good hoping I can get a spare blade
Very good chainsaw I’ve got a lot of Ryobi tools works very good hoping I can get a spare blade
Light chainsaw
Very light and quiet. Good amount of cuts to a charge.
The downside is it doesnt sound or look dangerous.
I bought this to clear the end of our garden that’s very overgrown. So far, so good. It coped with taking down this holly tree which is about 20-25cm in diameter and logged it up ok, albeit slower than a petrol saw. I did a smaller tree yesterday and it clears rhododendron and stuff easily. The only criticism I have is that when it stalls, you have to take the battery out and put it back to reset it it, which is a fairly minor niggle.
For small work around the garden, it’s easy to use and copes well.

Great saw for DIY perso
Great saw. This saw is almost as good as my petrol one, but without all the faff. Great for up ladders or when just a small amount of wood needs cutting. Easily cut 6 inch diameter trees; felled 3 x 15m trees, limbed and cut into lengths for splitting on one 4Ah battery. Not as powerful as petrol, but the ease of use is great and the fast chain speed means that it does the job for a DIY person. Hardly used my petrol one since buying it.
This thing rips but is light and easy to use
Powers through like I never thought a battery powered one would. I was skeptical of how well it would go. I already have the smaller Ryobi chainsaw but there is no comparison. My wife felled three trees at least 10inches diameter and cut up the logs on a single 5ah battery.
Cuts like butte
It’s a little hard to attach the chain but it works great.
Out of all my Ryobi tools love this one, would recommend cut big logs too.
chainsaw
when i received my chain saw and put it together and tried it, i was ready to put it in the bin. but after i read the instructions and put the chain on right, i must say that it is brilliant, it is a lot better than any of the petrol chain saws i have had in the pas

Easy to Use, Setup and Maintai
Love this chainsaw.
Easy to setup, just put a battery in and off you go.
Light weight, can one hand this, and very powerful.
Top up with chain oil once a month and it keeps the chain nice and lubed.
Best part? NO CORD
More capable than I expected .
Works well although I did find it a bit fiddly fitting the chain . Assembly instructions have no text so they can be tricky to follow .
Trop heureuse
Lgre, silencieuse, pratique,
Trs heureuse, mon meilleur investissement. Je valide 100%.
Suite aprs + d’un an. Tjrs ravie. J’hsite mme en prendre une deuxime. Je l’utilise normment. Trs simple.
So much easie
Had a petrol chainsaw. Too much hassle when you just want to quickly cut something. Easy to operate. Lightweight and of course you don’t get a battery as with most Ryobi products, but a solid investment in a couple of batteries and a good charger will set you up for use with all Ryobi cordless tools.
Brilliant chainsaw
Used it to cut down 14 trees between 10 foot to 20 foot high with a max diameter of 8 inches.
Needed 3 charges to do it but it did.
well worth the deal with a battery and charger.
Don’t use the 2 amp hour battery (unless its for pruning) as it will drain the battery after 20 mins of use.
The 5 amp hour battery is a must for this chainsaw !
Brilliant bit of kit and well worth the money.

Wear safety gear but otherwise enjoy
Absolutely love this product. No fuel, no noise, no greasy mess. This saw cut over 40 logs on one charge. Comes complete with a 5amph battery and fast charge station. Wear the same gear as a petrol one in case you slip….please, but otherwise enjoy this product.

Sehr ausgewogen.
Absolut empfehlenswert.

Great small job or second saw
Having lived with this saw now for nearly 5 months I am still really pleased with it. You won’t be cutting down forests with it but for smaller trees or in my case trimming branches of trees that we cut with a bigger petrol saw it is fantastic. It is a lot lighter than the petrol saw and just starts with the trigger ( no so arms form the pull start anymore) so far easier worked with. If I had to guess I’d say I have easily 30-40 hours on it now and only now need to get the chain sharpened.

Ce petit engin est vraiment trs pratique. Lger, toujours disponible, trs facile utiliser.
If you own other Ryobi tools and a battery then this is the perfect choice
Part of a range of Ryobi tools that take the same 18V battery
When deciding what to get I noticed lots of cordless chainsaws used 38,40 or even 60 Volt batteries and so was a little concerned that this chainsaw had a 12″ blade and only used the 18V battery my Ryobi sprayer uses 5Ah
I needn’t have worried it was easy to assemble and cut some 6″ diameter lower branches off one of my delinquent chestnut trees
It’s not too heavy and is well balanced so would be fairly safe to use up a ladder etc
The chain is very sharp and cuts tree branches fast and with ease

The picture above took 1, 4 amp hour battery (actually had another 6 cuts after this)
No More spilling petrol
no more putting my shoulder out trying to start petrol
no more wondering if petrol will start
no more going to garage to fill up petrol supplies
cuts through the same stuff as my old petrol one with ease, easier in fact, lighter weight, instant power. Excellent, love it so fa
Money well spe
Awesome to use light weight
So easy cutting trees and branches down
Would recommend using a 5ah battery

Excellent very impressed used lots of different chainsaws in my life and this is as good as any light hand and all at the press of a button brill bigger the battery longer it lasts but it does a lot of cutting on a 4amp defiantly recommended by me.
Cuts like a hot knife through butter.
Made light work of a load of hardwood trunks I needed to cut to size for a log burner.
Great eco friendly chainsaw for most tasks
Great Chainsaw – easy to build and adjust the chain. Had 3 batteries already for other tools so can run this all day with a fast charger. Replacement blades available from machine Mart so if you want to stay green this is a good option .
Been wanting a chainsaw for a while now and use a lot of ego I tools as seem to suit my needs
The chainsaw is light enough to carry any distance which is good
I used it with a 4ah battery and it cut well and for a long enough time
Cut two trees down that was about 6″at base in diameter and then cut into log sizes for my burner, did approx 60 cuts before felt need to Change battery
Cut was clean and consistent
Shown a nice finish in my log store in garden
Very easy to use
Just let the saw do the work and did not have much of a kick when I used it
Relatively quiet and stops quick which is always good
Only issue I felt was the instructions where not as clear as I would like for assembly of cutting arm
But a simple google to ryobi has a video and roof probably 1minute to complete
Did seem to spray oils slightly which I assume is normal for lubricant of cutting blade
So don’t use on over a surface that’ has a finish, like a stone patio for example
After use strip back down to clean the oil soaked sawdust inside housing for storage
Took about 5 minutes to clean
Certainly would recommend

First class Ryobi tool.
I’ve had a Ryobi drill for a long time & was impressed with tool & the length of battery life.
I needed a battery saw to use in places with no electric because I’m not a fan of petrol saws.
With the 2ah battery in place I gave it a go on a fallen tree. I pruned away all greenery & logged it as in the picture.
I would say I could have cut that tree up several times on that one charge.
Really glad I took the plunge & bought it.
