This is a pretty basic tool for the contemporary toolbox, but it seems to be a great combination of price and capabilities. I bought it for a decking project (I think my neighbour might have been at the end of his patience with my borrowing his kit) and it did everything I required without fuss. Battery capacity is fine, and I was more than able to charge the second whilst using the first at the rate I work. I am very happy with the capabilities and build quality.

Perfect. Both batteries Rrived charged. Been using for masonry, wood and a power driver, all good. Not too heavy.
    Great value.

I brought this because my older ryobi drill batteries and charger have broken but not the drill itself and it worked out much cheaper to buy this bundle than to buy the batteries and charger on their own

This drill is much better than my older ryobi as it has a setting to drive screws in which my old one didn’t if your a diy person I would recommend this as it’s good value for money

Previously bought a lower power own brand from toolstation, returned it and bought this.
the torque us much better and in general the old motto rings true, you get what you pay for, this is mid range and priced accordingly.
it’s defo enough for most activities the DIY range extends to.
it’s slightly heavier than expected but ok, and as per other reviews the charging is not the fastest- longevity is ok for standard use though.
overall, so far it’s good and worth the money.

I have been using this drill for a while and whilst new to the brand i must say i am very pleased.
The drill like many is easy to use, but it has a wide power and speed control which makes all jobs easy. I love the light and the simple locking mechanism.
    The charger is very good.

Overall the best drill i have owned.

I’ve just unpacked my drill an hour ago, Just drilled 10 6MM holes 30mm deep in a mill stone grit wall and have had no problems, that was straight from the box with charge that was in the battery. I think the people that are giving bad reviews on drill brick work, need to get the right drill bit for the job, cheap drill don’t work. You only get what you pay for. I should think this drill will full fill all my requirement and it a lot lighter than my old one, I’ll give it 10/10.

The drill is sturdy but still light enough that it doesn’t make your arm ache. The battery life has been amazing once fully charged it lasts and lasts. Easy to use instructions for all types of drilling. This pack contains 2 batteries so you can charge one while using one. Comes with a handy Phillips and cross head screwdriver bit that secures to the drill for safekeeping. A great ‘take anywhere’ purchase that doesn’t rely on mains supply. Thoroughly recommend.

Great little cordless drill with a great range of ability. Seems to have completely replaced my old corded drill as it is lighter, more controllable, and more comfortable in the hand. A truly competent piece of kit which oozes quality. Comes with two 1.5Ah batteries which are relatively low capacity on paper but I have not managed to run one out to ’empty’ yet.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersBought this in June 2020 and the drill and all attachments work great. 8 months after purchase I went to recharge one of the batteries which was completely discharged. Charger had flashing red and green lights which after reading reviews I discovered means that the battery is kaput! (not uncommon apparently) I contacted Ryobi who said that as I had bought the drill from Amazon; warranty claims should be directed to Amazon and not them as Amazon had “bought out the warranty”. I went onto Amazon web chat and as ever they were fantastic. Initially they offered to refund the cost of a replacement battery if I could find one on their website; but unfortunately this was not possible. Eventually they agreed to replace the whole item- drill, 2 batteries and charger at no cost and I could keep the original and then return it when the new one arrived which it did around two weeks later. Well done Amazon!!

Really impressed with this drill, I think its value for money is excellent had no issue with power. Recently put up TV wall braket, I had to drill 5 10mm, 8cm deep wholes into solid brick and had absolutely no issue. There was also plenty of power left over. Feels very sturdy and charges fast. I’m only a very simple DIY-er but this far more than I need. Highly reccomend.

Golden Review Award: 28 From Our UsersI got this to replace a cordless drill about 15 years old, which was ok but I was reduced to DIY battery packs, soldering in replacement rechargeables to keep it going. I had to use an odd size of battery and when my last batch of imported Chinese cells (not at all cheap) turned out to be such low performance I’d basically call them fakes, I gave up and binned the drill. I wanted something ok but for domestic use and the Ryobi got good reviews. I was taken by the idea of one battery for several tools. Since batteries had been the total problem with the last drill, that seemed something worth paying for.

Anyway, this drill turned out to be miles better than the old drill, far more powerful, 2 speed gearbox turned it into a serious screwdriver. Good speed control. Really solid build. Excellent chuck. Just a totally different league. I’ve not got out my (old but superb) 700w corded hammer drill since I bought this cordless, its up for most stuff (even 10mm bit drilling through hardwood plywood was really easy)

It came with a couple of 1.5AH batteries and a charger. Never yet found out how hard to have to use it to flatten even one battery, and it did jobs that easily killed off the old drill batteries. It does take quite a while to recharge a battery. For me that does not matter a jot but not sure about professional day long use.

Anyway an excellent drill, very happy, they’ve now got me looking at their other stuff that uses the same batteries.

Great price for a branded cordless drill with 2 batteries (I paid 75). Haven’t had a chance to use it much but I’ve tested it and all seems good. It only came with a double headed screwdriver bit but I’m fine with that as the drill bits you normally get free with these tend to be of low quality and don’t last long. The 1.5AH batteries should be plenty good enough for most DIYers although professional users will most likely want to invest in some of the heavier duty ones.

    Update:
After a few months of very light duties, one of the two supplied batteries became faulty and wouldn’t charge. I contacted Ryobi and they sent me a replacement battery by return. Good service from them, just hope that the other battery doesn’t go the same way.

I was able to drill 12mm 60mm deep holes for shield anchor bolts in a brick wall with relative ease despite it was close to the maximal bit diameter for this drill. Wasn’t sure this drill will manage, but decided to take a gamble instead of buying a more powerful (and twice as expensive) model, and have no regrets.

Comparing to my old drill without a hammer action it’s a completely different experience. One+ system where you use the same battery with different tools is also great for a DIYer.

I had a Black Decker drill that costs just a little bit less than this. This is so very much worth the extra 20! Very powerful, ergonomic, build in light, lots of features. Comes with 2 universal batteries and a great charger!

It’s the same price as buying a charger with a 2Ah battery! Here they throw in the drill and second battery for 5!

Good instructions – not good regrestration process. Drill works very well and has good controllability. Batteries charge within half hour but this is out of box so may not be entirely flat. For price can’t fault and far better than cheaper items e.g. from aldi. Haven’t used to drill concrete yet but settings and spec suggests this will be fine. clearly battery life is for DIY but that is my requirement . Haven’t established battery life hence 3 * but no reason to suspect a problem

I upgraded from a wired drill and so glad I did. DIY projects are simpler and wider ranging now that I don’t have to worry about extension cords.
This Ryobi drill is small but robust and powerful – I’ve not found it wanting for any DIY projects so far. I kept my wired drill as a back-up but having had this for some months will be happy to discard.
The interchangeable battery system has prompted me to look at other products in the Ryobi range.

I just love my new toy! It’s not too heavy which I was worried about and it does my work in seconds!! Love the light on the end. Want a mini circular saw but they don’t seem to do them so that’s annoying since I bought the starter pack with the extra battery.

  52. Anonymous says:

Good cheap alternative to other brands and has more power than most brushless drills at this price, as it is a brushed drill. Batteries are good enough for light use but if you plan on using this for more than just hanging stuff, a bigger battery is definitely needed. The charger is slow and it took +2 hours to charge one battery from flat. Strongly recommend getting quality bits from either Bosch or Dewalt rather than the Ryobi brand ones as they aren’t the best and would go for higher quality ones as it’s ability to drill holes in stuff depends on the bits used. All in all very good drill for the price and has plenty of power and adjustability as well as a good 3 year warranty which is easy enough to register for.

Great feel, quite heavy, especially with battery and the power of both drill and hammer drill are exceptional. The battery lasted for hours with moderate use within that time. Good colour and general look. It would have been great of it came in a hard case, but you can’t have it all, especially at the price paid. Recommended!

I bought these as we’re on offer and my old Makita was pretty much dead. This is a great drill however noticed that the small drill bit that comes attached keeps falling out, the chuck doesn’t lock properly and the drill bits sometimes come loose. Also the battery life is pretty poor I’ve found. One time I only drilled 13 screws and it was dead after a full charge. (Other times it’s been alright but not as expected). For what I need these are great but for a professional I’d recommend getting a dwalt or Makita.

Drill still works even after the delivery person dropped it over my 6ft gate obviously can’t wait one minute.

Brilliant power screwdriver and hammer drill, robust and durable, quite heavy for the size, but works wonders, and with two batteries and charger it’s an absolute bargain.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI like to think I’m a competent diyer and had used some cheap drills in the past, and wanted to have something more professional. Been looking at this brand for a while as a lot of diyers and professionals use, although not expensive brand, I was shocked with the difference. The drill feels heavy and robust, the motor is so precise and also strong for drilling and you can control the speed very easily. No more damaged screw heads, just make sure you choose the screwdriver option.
On one battery I managed to screw around 100 screws on wood and still going, having a second battery ready to go is a great bonus.

Golden Review Award: 222 From Our UsersFolks this is an excellent drill. I got this for about 69. I tell you it’s half the price of more professional drills but it’s definitely not half the performance. I have attached a picture of what’s in the box.

    Some pros
    – Excellent value for money
    – Build quality is excellent.
    – For the occasional DIY this will do just fine. It drills effortlessly.
    – Some reviewers said to find it heavy but I found I can comfortably lift these with one hand. (Might depend if you lift bro 🙂 )
    – 2 batteries (you’ll need them)
    – LED Light

    Cons
    – No bag to store or carry it in.
    – No accessories except the one double ended bit you get for screwing.
    – Low powered batteries
    – Slow charger

Overall I would recommend to a friend and to you reading this. Give this a helpful vote if useful.

    Love this drill

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersFantastic! Bought this for screwing thick plywood to a double garage flat roof. Approx 200 screws plus 40 bolts. Managed it easily with plenty left in just one batrery. Torque settings give all tue optioms you need depending in the type of material, screw size etc so play around with them until you find the right one. Great deal for a great product, would recommend to amyone with good size diy projects who need reliable tools which work. Some have commented on the weight which i felt was perfect. Good weight means metal rather than plastic gears, clutch etc so better performance.

Great drill so far. Came in a box with batteries and charger – no carry case. Has hammer, drill and screw functions. Used for drilling through breeze block and decking with cheap drill bits – no issues. Driving in screws works well with the selected setting. I have not had to charge the battery after multiple uses. Overall has been a decent addition. Remember to register for warranty on the Ryobi website.

Golden Review Award: 73 From Our UsersThis is the first Ryobi tool I have purchased but won’t be the last based on the performance of this drill. I was sceptical of going the Ryobi one+ route and was just going to bite the bullet, pay the extra and go with Makita after using them at work and always being very impressed with the power, battery life and the amount of punishment they go through and just keep working.

However, for the price, the Ryobi is awesome. Not quite the power of the Makita’s but similar, well built, reassuringly weighty and very nice to use. Used today to drill 8mm clearance holes and drive 100mm timber locks and didn’t miss a beat. The performance was much better than I expected.

The only let down is the batteries and charger that come with the kit. The 1.5AH hour batteries do not last long at all and the charger is very slow. To slow to fully charge the 1st battery when using the 2nd. It took a good couple of hours after the 2nd battery was dead for the 1st to be charged.

But for 75 you can’t ask for more. Just make sure you have plenty of time to spare between charging or be sure to purchase a faster charger and/or additional batteries.

So far so good, seems fairly powerful and drilled through metal and masonry with out any issues. Can’t say about the battery life but it comes with two so can always keep one on charge if your using it all day. Didn’t come with any drill bits but for the price you pay I can’t complain, I ordered a drill bit set for another 30. Good bit of kit. Does the job well and nice and simple to use.

Golden Review Award: 27 From Our UsersHeavier than the Makita products but my god this product is amazing! Great price, great product, works really well and has been amazing

I heard this product was good from friends and the internet, they were all right, cheaper than the competition and on the same level as the competition

Ensure you buy good quality screw sets and drill pieces as that is where DIY fails

Also this came with a Philips and flat head piece which was handy and it magnetically stays on the drill set 😀
