Wanted a cheap replacement for a DeWalt drill I had lost. This was just perfect. The batteries lasted longer than I thought for such a small unit. Only used for a few days so only time will tell.

After many years of having a very decent BOSH drill I need a placement and went with Ryobi. I am totally amazed by its functionality at all levels, its light, easy to use and goes through brick/wood like a hot knife through butter. I see the comments about battery life but can’t comment as I have only had it a month but so far 10/10

Have had this Ryobi myself, and now wanted to buy one for our son. I like the way it handles, and the illumination. After a mains electric drill, this is great to use. No cable. No chuck key. Comfortable to hold. Also the price has come down from the original purchase.

So the value of this package & a brand I’ve had no issues with before led me to buy this as my current handheld drill failed.
Getting 2 batteries and not just one and I still haven’t used all the charge in the first one drilling multiple holes into a brick wall. It was light enough to hold and did the job of drilling the holes and screwing the items up with no bother at all.

My first ryobi tool and now the start of a new collection. I love this thing. Its light but with plenty of power. The hammer drill is good enough for house work too. Will be looking for more tools in this range soon.

Battery performance is very poor. The drill seems quite rugged and well proportioned but having to change batteries every 1/2 hour is not quite what I expected. Very disappointed with my Ryobi drill.

Well moulded nicely balanced and powerful for most jobs DIY or professional. Going to set all my tools up with Ryobi, started with a drill 18v and a plane 18v.

Brilliant little drill. Couldn’t believe how powerful it is. Drilled six holes through porcelain tiles with diamond tipped drill bits and it was fantastic. Thought I would have to get my mains drill out but it was no problem. Wish I had got one years ago instead of struggling with an old one. Highly recommended.

A shame it doesn’t come in a case, two batteries are both good as is the charger, it is not as light as others but the weight is in the battery’s, good and powerful, nice tool.

I pondered this purchase for a long time before commiting but very pleased I took the plunge, It’s a good quality cordless drill, not too heavy, good torque and very convenient to use for general DIY. .

Can’t believe the quality of this drill for the price. Feels good in my hand with slightly more weight than my old Bosch drill which was also brilliant but much more expensive now than this Ryobi product. Appreciate the higher torque of the Ryobi. That was my only criticism of the Bosch drill which lasted seven hard years of use. Hope Ryobi gives such good service. Very pleased with purchase.

Most tasks I have for a drill are lightweight and I have a 12v drill I normally use. I wanted something a little more powerful and for the price this seemed a good option.

Not used it too much so cannot comment on battery life. I have used it for a few jobs to drill into brick using a 7mm bit. This was effortless and I have bo doubt larger holes would be straightforward. Recommended as a good DIY drill. Good power, feels robust and should be versatile

  28. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

Excellent choice for the average to serious DIYer. Robust and well made, this tool doesn’t shy away from a bit of hard work. On the contrary, it has exceeded my expectations, drilling into concrete with surprising ease and making light work of driving in screws. Couple all of this with the ONE+ system and competitive price, and I think this is a little gem!

  32. DianeDarke says:

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt managed to do what I needed, drill 10mm holes in 3mm steel plate with no problems. It also went slow enough to drill holes in plastic without melting it.

The contacts spark, so don’t use near anything that might produce flammable gas.

It might be a “starter” option but ideal for amateur use and probably quite a bit of business too.

already had a ryobi which i used to install a raised sleeper wall, which was perfect and thus far this has not disapointed, excellent and responsive speed control when drilling/screwing nice and easy to use chuck, really pleased and of course 2 batterys so no need to wait to charge when the power runs out, that said based on my prevoius ryobi experience (exacctly the same battery) a second battery may mot be required….hope this helps

  35. XBVRaphael says:

Using it quite happily to do run of the mill jobs around the house and garage. Copes with most jobs, but not really up to the stronger metal and masonry, but can use a corded drill for those if need be.
Battery life is fine, especially with the two supplied. Overall its a good purchase.

  39. RosalinU67 says:

     United Kingdom

The charger is super slow, and the included (1Ah?) batteries really are minuscule. I was getting through two full batteries in a single day of building my deck. The charger charges slower than the driver uses power in the second battery, so you can end up having to stop work for the day. There is a design flaw in the charger, in that if you leave a charged battery in the charger but turn it off at the mains, the battery completely discharges through the charger. So don’t do that. That said, it’s a powerful and flexible tool for the price.

Good quality, better than average DIY drill , good battery life once you work out the chargers light display , a little heavier than expected, but not too much of an issue, great starter kit , for the range

  49. NXDGilbert says:

     United Kingdom

Called starter kit not sure what that means, perhaps it’s the small batteries but that is what I want as its so much lighter to use. Drill is usual great Ryobi quality, perhaps I am biased have used Ryobi for years. I have Makita, Dewalt and Erbauer great tools for continuious use but so much more expensive. Charger is their cheapest takes 9+0 minutes to charge so no good for professionals.

  50. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

The drill works fine. I like the chuck and the slow start, though you have to be careful to press gently to get a very slow start. I have mainly used it for srewdriving to date, so can’t comment on the hammer action. The LED light is good. I would not say it is very lightweight. It is a bit heavier than the Makita I am replacing with it. Battery life is still an unknown however as I ahven’t had it long ernough.

For me it is a comfortable drill to use, batteries did not take long to charge. Can not say how long charge lasts .
I did think something was wrong the drill was going slow I did think batteries had run down. But I solved the issue you press the trigger just a bit more, solved!

  63. Nichol2324 says:

The drill works very well and is simple to operate. The charger does its job and is, again, easy to use. The product is well made ant the casing kooks and feels durable. The chuck grabs drills effectively without very much turning force being required. Early days yet but I think this will be a good buy and I am satisfied with the purchase. I have used several similar products over many years and I think this is the best one I have had.
At this sort of price I can recommend and say it is good value.

I bought this cordless drill to carry out some DIY works on my house. It wroks perctly and I was also able to so some brickwork in the garage.
It came with 2 batteries, this is very useful because there is no battery soc indicator so you don’t know when the battery will die (NOTE the batteries are compatible with a very large set of Ryobi tools)
As advertised it has multiple functions like hammer drill, screw driver and normal drill
Except for a single drive bit you won’t find any accessory so you need to buy a complete set of drilling and driving bits

Great piece of kit. Powerful yet very controllable vary-speed trigger, good hammer (although I use my Rotary Hammer drill for masonary drilling). Slip clutch with 24 settings, reverse and 2 speed. The keyless chuck is a great idea. I have a range of batteries but prefer to use the smaller, hence lighter 2ah as most jobs this tool does will only takes minutes, not all day, on-site usage. The drill is well balanced and feels very comfortable and solid in the hand. I expect it to last for years.

This Ryobi cordless drill is a very useful addition for odd jobs. It does however struggle sometimes in areas my old Makita cordless drill didn’t. Still, it’s suitable for most jobs and good value. Battery charging is quick and easy. You’d likely need an SDS drill alongside this one for tougher jobs.

  84. SolomonLXX says:

Great first drill. Feels solid, comes with really handy second battery and is just very well built overall.
Taking a star off because it doesn’t have inbuilt level like many other drills and it’s simply not strong enough to drill into reinforced concrete. Even with right bits.

Wanted a cordless drill/driver for building decking for my daughter after my experience using a corded drill and a small cordless screwdriver when doing my own decking last year. This Ryobi did the job far quicker and the ease and finish was so much better. My daughter used it when fitting the decking boards on to the framework and found it easy to use as it is powerful and not too heavy. Having 2 batteries is a bonus although I did not need to put on charge during the work. I bought a bare Ryobi impact driver later and use the second battery for that.

  87. KelvinPeake says:

Really good but comes with the slow charge not a problem as you have 2 batteries but if you don’t use it often and needs changing you need to wait for a lot before using it.

  88. Tabitha19W says:

     United Kingdom

Can’t comment on the battery life but it lasted long enough for me to do what I needed to do. Which was put some buttons up in the conservatory to attach blinds to. As others have stated in their reviews it’s a nice weight. It’s not really heavy, but it doesn’t feel too lightweight and too flimsy. Have used it to drill and screw and it did both with ease. There’s not really much in the way of instructions with it, but the markings on the drill itself, pretty much tell you what everything is for. So even if you are not a DIYer, you can use this drill very very easily. The only downside really, is having to buy drillbits and screw bits separately. But it does come with one cross head And one flathead bit attached to the front of the drill, (it’s a double headed bit) which is actually quite handy
