Brought these when on a deal so got 2.
    They are genuine
    Charge fine
Last as long as my original 1yr old battery.
Mmmm. Now what do I do with all the 1.5ah and 2ah batteries I have.

I bought this 5 amp battery it was a bit pricey but you get what you pay for it’s good quality build and it seems very sturdy I would recommend this to other people.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is well made and easy to maintain. The ONE+ battery concept is a long overdue idea. Have 3 other Ryobi battery powered units (drill, extended chainsaw branch lopper and leaf blower) all of which came with a battery and a charger. All batteries have different Amp Hours (Ah) ratings and all fit the chainsaw that wasn’t supplied with a battery. The chainsaw, like my other Ryobi tools, are as well made if not better than my old tools that they replace (some of which are highly rated names).

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe saw is brilliant and makes light work of cutting through logs – I’ve used it on 6″ dia logs.
You cant use it out of the box unless you have also bought some bar & blade oil. A shame there’s no heads up in the literature. Otherwise this is a great bit of kit.

I have one of these ‘Ryobi RB18L50’ 5.0 amp and its a good battery compared to other 3rd party of similar capacity it is slightly heavier and probably using higher quality cells.
However, this is now old stock on sale, as the current 5.0amp battery sold by Ryobi is the RB1850X, different design and more expensive, but maybe more durable if they have not sat in a warehouse for x amount of time.

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersI already have a petrol saw for work on thick logs.

The only poor reviews on this seem to be from people who thought they were buying the power of a petrol saw, but driven by battery .

I have a lot of wood that is about as thick as your thigh, or less, from trimming trees, and occasionally thicker.

This is perfect for the job of trimming the trees and then sawing into ca. 16″ lengths.

It cuts half the speed of my petrol saw, and that’s not a bad thing if you’re working in tight quarters or at awkward angles.

Working single handed, I can easily get about an hour and a half work out of an original Ryobi 4Ah battery.

Not sawing all the time, of course, but positioning for cutting, throwing into wheelbarrow etc.

Lighter to use than a petrol saw, but don’t forget helmet, boots and chaps! It’ll still cut your leg off, even it is battery.

Assembly and maintenance is very easy a well. Just check the tension every half hour of cutting, and check the saw oil level. It keeps well lubricated.

Get a file (and handle) for it, and a quick swipe every hour or so at the angle indicated in the chain, and it’ll cut quicker.

Replacement chains and bars very easy to get, and cheap as well, but *do* learn to sharpen your chain!

    Happy and safe sawing!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExpensive but puts all the cheaper pattern models in the shade. Provides better and longer power and charges faster and feels more substantial than the couple of replacement ones I bought a few months ago that last nowhere near as long as this. Cheap ones are OK for short jobs but if you want to do a decent job getb the proper battery it pays back over time

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersEasy to put together. Only quibble was chain arrived kinked and took some time to straighten, it was not damaged in any way. I would wear gloves though when fitting as the blades are quite sharp. Instructions are helpful, but I found it easier to watch a video on YouTube. You do get oil but only the bare minimum, so I would purchase extra if you are going to use it a lot. It does leak oil, mostly from the chain, so I would check the oil level every time before use. I would also spray the chain with wd40 for wood sap. Keep the chain lock and cover on when not in use and you are good to. Always wear proper clothing, gloves and eye protection.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have tried third party batteries, but now having bought this I don’t think I will be doing so again.

This battery out performs every like for like third battery I have. Its rugged and charges quickly with the quick charge, giving plenty of usage time on some of my most demanding tools.

Really happy with it albeit a little on the pricey side, but I would recommend it.

I have had this a while, it has lasted quite a long time without discharging power, I only use it every now and again for small tasks. Bought for use with a circular saw, drill driver and other riobi products if I buy more of the one plus range.

I have a large number of Ryobi One+ power tools so I’m obviously a fan but I always baulked at the cost of the genuine Ryobi batteries and so purchased a number of pattern ones from Amazon. While initially they did the job and gave me a good stock of batteries over time they have started to fail or lose charge. Each time one fails I replace with a genuine Ryobi equivalent and the difference is remarkable. Tools like the leaf blower have more power with a genuine 5amp than with a clone 5 or 6amp and it’s the same with impact drivers and drills.
Clones are good to get a stock of batteries but in the long term genuine works out cheaper.

I’ve been using Ryobi One+ tools since the day they came out and it would take a lot to make me switch. I’ve never had an issue with the batteries personally, even the NiCad ones that are 15 years old are still useable. The latest ones are superb batteries and with their built in management system can be used to power all sorts of other items.

Bought to use with my Ryobi strimmer. Based on others reviews I went for the 5.0Ah 18V battery to be confident I would be able to strim the front and back lawns without the battery needing a charge mid way. I am impressed as on the full charge I have been able to do the strimming on both front and back lawns twice now and the battery still shows 4 out of a 5 bar charge. This is incredible.

It may be expensive but you get what you pay for and I have every confidence in this battery compared to cheaper alternatives.

I love the Ryobi one+ range, have multiple gardening tools available from them and I’m slowly replacing my tools when they wear out to join the range. The simplicity of the plug and play is fantastic and the tooling is of high quality. I already had 1 of these batteries and while the charge time is great, it doesn’t quite cover all my garden jobs (30 foot long Laurel to cut) and a reasonable sized front/back garden to mow. 2 is more than sufficient. They are very expensive though and there are cheaper alternatives available, while they’re not recommended for use, if I require another one should the lifespan on these batteries start to diminish I’d be tempted to try them owing to the cost.

Purchased to accompany my new Ryobi cordless jigsaw thinking that my 2.5Ah battery (used for Ryobi drill and hedgecutter) wouldn’t be powerful enough to cope with a long duration of cutting. This battery certainly does the trick and it’s fair to say that I tend to conk well before it does! Charges quickly too – whilst I haven’t run it completely flat yet, it’s fully charged in less than an hour.

    Brilliant,
I bought a non gen 6ah last about 18months ago firstly I had to re-solder the contact onto the battery then and from first getting it the charge didn’t seem to last as long as I thought it would.
Then when I got the genuine ryobi battery the charge last at least 4x longer the power output for such as sanders is definitely more.. When I i used it on my belt sander you could here the difference and it never stopped and started like it did on the nongen one
In conclusion don’t buy non gen. There cheap, but so inferior, and only really good for drills (not hammer)

Dies off quickly the first couple of times but once it’s been drained and charged a few times it lasts longer.

I bought two 5.0Ah batteries to bolster up power for my ryobi collection which is ever growing. They are best used in the more power draining tools like the recip saw and garage vac cleaner, as these both drain smaller batteries really quickly. They are very well made and if they last half as long as my other 1.5Ah, 2.5Ah and 4.0Ah batteries, I will be a happy man. They are definitely overpriced for the UK market, but then what isn’t? They are half this price in the states and if you want a 9.0Ah version you have to shell out 170 sheets. Not a chance!

Thus is a good battery for the Ryobi products. It’s quick to charge and hoods it well as long as it has been taken off the item your using it on. I like the power indicator on this model so you can easily see how much charge there is left before starting anything rather than getting half way through and it giving up. Would recommend this battery .

Great, but. I have around 10 Ryobi + 1 tools but will probably stop buying for one reason. The batteries are way too expensive. If you compare the cost against the Likes of Makita,Dewalt and Milwaukee Ryobi are by far the most expensive. They are seldom on offer and rarely available in twin packs. I have purchased a couple of third party batteries but these do not have anywhere near the run time of a genuine Ryobi, and when using them with Brushless tools the tool frequently stops for no apparent reason. Was looking at the latest variant, the 9AH but refuse to pay 160 + for a single battery. Am now switching to Makita.

I’ve got a couple of 5Ah batteries and have ordered a couple more. I’ve tried the cheaper alternatives and they don’t work in all tools – pay the extra, get something that works with your Ryobi One+ range properly.

You’ll see plenty of reviews on the different tools that putting in a 5Ah battery “makes it more powerful” – it doesn’t do this, in the same way as putting a bigger fuel tank in a car doesn’t change the motor, it just lets it run for longer.

The 5Ah batteries are quite hefty so for more delicate tools/jobs you might want to cut the weight with a lighter unit and recharge more frequently.

SO i picked this up and it lasted long enough for me to finish the garden. also using it on my power tools is fine but this obviously adds weight so if using with a drill consider that.

The only downside (and there really is only 1) is its so damn pricey! but once you pick one up, then you only really need the tool from there on in and plug this and go.

Great product. Good battery life for a 2.5 works well in my sander.

Makes a lot of difference to charge life compared to the standard one, particularly with the more power needy tools ( grinder, jigsaw etc).

    Powerful and long running.
    Use it in my strimmer.
This is a quality battery from a great company. I have used Ryobi products for many years and never been disappointed with the build quality.

Lasts long enough to keep my allotment paths tidy. Use it with my mower and strummer. Expensive though.
