Lightweight, sturdy & great for my tiled flor. Even though it doesn’t do into the corners this machine takes little effort to do a really good job of my floors. I’ve two dogs & it’s easy to clean muddy paw prints on tiles
I am obsessed with this!! I have safety flooring in the biggest room in the house and it is so back breaking to clean because it’s pitted but with this it’s a breeze and it leaves it so clean. It takes minutes to dry, the steam means that grease and grime are removed with ease I couldn’t be happier to recommend this!
Fantastic Machine.
I picked this up after having the hallway, Kitchen/dining room and downstairs toilet all tiled.
I’m so glad I did, it’s a really great piece of kit, so simple to use and does a marvellous job too.
Don’t be put off by the other reviews that say if you have contoured tiles it won’t clean them because it DOES, providing we are not talking huge height differences that is.
Would I recommend it – Yes
Would I buy again – Yes
Superb! Wish I'd invested years sgo
After loving my shark vacuum, it took me a while to invest in the steam Mop, I’d had other branded ones and never been enamoured….. then I bought this one! OMG, why or why didn’t I buy one sooner! It cleanest really well without too much work from me, whixh is great as I have Fibromyalgia and often can’t do anything cleaning wise. I tested this (after sitting in the box for 2m before I was well enough to try it). It was so easy to use for me! Love it! Worth the investme
I’ve had this steam mop about a year and it’s still working well. It’s lightweight and easy to use although it does sometimes take some pumping to get the steam going. Removes stubborn stains from floors and I’ve used it on wooden and vinyl floors.
Super Shark
Love this machine, takes all the hard work out of cleaning floors, easy to use, assemble and clean. Easy washable pads too. Works well on all floors ceramic or hard wood. Really excellent value would recommend. Another good Shark product.
Works well and the floor pads are easy to clean in the washing machine
does a good job of cleaning the kitchen floor tiles. A very small grumble is that it is difficult to see the water level, because the plastic is purple, whereas it should be transparent.
Shark steam mop
Had a shark steam mop previously it had plenty of use but in the end died of hard work so I decided to purchase another shark steam mop if this one gives as much service as the previous mop I will bd very pleases.
Makes life so much easier.
I bought this for my daughter for Christmas to use in her kitchen and conservatory stone tiled floor, and laminate floor in living room/hallway.
She says it is so much better than the conventional mop.
The stone tiles are ridged which always prove difficult to clean without scrubbing. She uses boiled water with a hint of zoflora in it.
But initially she used washing up liquid straight on the floor to get into the ridges when using the mop and then the floors came up lovely.
Makes life so much easier she said, especially when you have a 2 year old and a 6 year old in the conservatory/playroom. The pads used wash and dry quickly. We did buy spares , just to have some in anyway.
I was quite annoyed when it was reduced to 99 quid on Christmas Eve though.
take out warranty if you are not hands o
This now is probably the 4th maybe 5th time we have bought this or got replaced free due to a steam malfunction. But somehow we always go for another. Probably the best out there still.
We first thought it may be hard water that was blocking jets somehow so the last 2 we have had we used white vinegar in the water as well, seemed to work for a while although I wasn’t as keen on the smell as the wife was.
alas this still went wrong and we ended up purchasing another. Only difference this time is i decided to do some dismantling of the broken one to investigate as nothing to lose.
Once the correct screw attachment was established and you will need a decent kit to find the right one, I finally found the culprit….. a small mesh filter that some how had fluff over which stopped the water passing, making the machine think that the water reserve was empty. a quick run under the tap and now ready as new…. So I have a new spare in the loft still in an unopened box with 3 years warranty probably gone to waste
So to sum up
Pros
Great steamer
Quick start
large double mop head for double clean
long cable for large area
keeps the wet, mucky dog paw marks at bay
impossible to live without (wife words as she is the clean freak)
Cons
Steam pad get mucky quick
After first wash pads not the same
Clip sometimes will not clip the pad
Smells of vinegar lol
Just buy it if you want a decent clea
I chose this rather than buy another Vileda steam mop which I found uncomfortable to use and didn’t stand up on it’s own – more annoying than you’d think believe me.
Assembly is very simple for this item, just plug in the stem and handle and it’s “built”. You then just need to add water, put on one of the two mats provided and plug in. You have to pump the handle to get the water moving and it steams up in under a minute. Whilst I was expecting more steam, it does do a good job on laminate and tiles as shown by the dirty pad which is easily washable.
Things I like :
Ergonomic handle makes it comfortable to push around
Rectangular footprint makes it easy to “plan” your mopping efficiently in straight lines and get into corners
Fast power up
Stands up on it’s own – especially good when storing
Not keen:
No variable power level
No power switch
Replacement pads are expensive
Overall though I am very happy with my first Shark purchase
We have wildly impractical glossy cream porcelain tiles throughout most of our high traffic areas downstairs, upon which even the smallest blemish is incredibly obvious, including streaks from cleaning. For 3 years whenever I’ve cleaned this floor I’ve had to get down on my hands and knees and rub dry with a towel to avoid streaks showing up, which can take me 2+ hours at a time. I’ve tried with other steam mops and they haven’t given a nice finish. With this Shark mop, I have perfectly clean, streak-free floors in <15 mins. Fantastic!
I like this steamer.
I use it om laminate flooring.
It has 3 heat setting and I use the lowest setting for my laminate floors.
You can flip the cleaning pad over and it lets out extra steam for any stubborn marks.
The downsides are the lead needs to be longer and when you’re done there’s no easy way to drain the water out you have to lift the machine upside down to get the water out. It’s recommended you drain the water out after each use to stop corrosion.
All that Said I do like the steamer.
Sent for this as my non-Shark one had packed up. Bought so many gadgets in the past and have been disappointed but so far so very good!! No need for extra buff at the end (I have gloss floor tiles) so saved no end of time. The floor comes up really clean and no smears. The pads are easy to change. Everything works fine and Athena puff of instant steam for stubborn marks great. The only thing so far is that it doesn’t stand up by itself as many other reviewers have noted, it wld be good to have that but it’s not the end of the world.? I’m just so happy it takes so much less time to do my tiled floors! I just hope it will last for a good length of time and not pack up after 2 years.
This is my second Shark floor steamer. My first of this type lasted for over five years, so I was happy to replace with this slightly newer version. I have deducted one star for cord length, as the cord on this model is shorter than my previous steamer.
This does an excellent job of cleaning several laminate floors in my home. It is very easy to use, and it’s also easy to change the cloths when needed.
The instructions suggest using distilled water if yoiu are in a hard water area. I shall do this to extend the life of my steamer.
I have only had this a week and its the best steam mop i have ever owned ,a bit more pricy than others i have had, but so far seems worth spending the extra ,i already have a shark cordless vacuum which i love , so decided to go with the steam cleaner in the same make ,its great , easy to fill ,i use de ironised water as live in a hard water area , love the way u can flip it over and use both sides of the cleaning pad, its great the way it undoes so u can take the cleaner pad off ,i just pop it in the washing machine after for 15 mins and its clean ,love this cleaner ,i have wood look cushion flooring ,but i have even run it over my bedroom carpet to give it a re fresh ,floors dry in second s
I spent a lot of time researching which steam mop to get because my home is all hard floors. I’m pretty happy with this, it’s not as powerful as much cheaper models I’ve used, the size and shape of the mop means it’s not the best for getting into corners (compared to the ones with triangular heads).
One MAJOR gripe I have with it is that it can’t stand up on it’s own. It has to be leant in a corner or it just constantly falls over, major design flaw in my opinion.
Another thing I’ve noticed is that when it’s first turned on, you can push it along the floor and only a narrow line along the floor will be wet, meaning the steam isn’t evenly distributed throughout the floor pad. The steam only comes out at the centre, once you’ve got the floor relatively wet, and the old has had time to soak some up and get wet, only then are you seeing a wet patch the full width of the pad. This also means that when you are cleaning a particularly grimey area, you only really get enough heat and steam to lift dirt with the centre part of the pad. Other cheaper mops I’ve used have lifted grime after one stroke over it, this mop has to be repeatedly pushed over an area to get it clean.
For 99 it does the job and seems sturdy enough that it will last a good while but I’m keeping my eyes peeled for an upgrade.
Mostly Good
Steamer does it’s job, but, for me, not having an on/off switch is very inconvenient which means I have to walk across the wet floor to turn off the socket. Also, like other reviewers I don’t find the pads come very clean when washed at 40 even though they’re new. 3/5 from me
I love i
This is the second Shark steam mop I buy. I’m impressed with it. The steam is so strong, the cable is long enough and after using it the floor looks very clean. Highly recommend this steam mop!
I previously had a Vax steamer which finally stopped producing steam after nearly 5 years. I bought this after reading endless reviews from various experts.
I like the large size mop with the option to flip for extra steam. I also like to option of three different settings and that it’s fairly easy to manouvere.
What I don’t like is the cable lenght; the Vax could do all the downstairs rooms from the same socket. I now have to plug it in in each room as it’s so short. I also don’t like that you can’t stand it up and there’s no base to stand it in when not in use, which I had with the Vax. The water tank also appears to be smaller as I now have to refill it before I do upstairs.
Based on the dirt on the pad it works well as a steamer, but there are too many design faults to give it five stars, and had I paid full price I would have returned it.
