    Great little microwave
After 28 years of faithful service with a Sharp microwave it finally gave up…. So we had to find another pretty quickly matching size and performance… This Toshiba fit the bill.

Once set up I found it real easy to operate… Reading the book helped, albeit being broken English.. We use our mic for the usual.. Warming plates, drinks that have gone cold and defrosting…I must say,the defrosting was brilliant and was perfect… Inside was a snug fit for a full size plate but it did the job. Also inside was was easy to clean. It looks really nice on the worktop, and the price was great for what it does.. Recommend.. Cheers.

This oven is spoilt by not having an internal light which comes on as soon as you power up at the socket. It only comes on when you shut the door so it is difficult to adjust the turntable before use.

No fancy buttons just two dials for wattage and time. If you want to set it at 30 seconds you can’t, but that is not why I bought it. Great for reheating and defrosting.

Only very tiny issue is the timer knob which you need to put on for approx 30 seconds more as if only wanting 1 minute will find that it stops short. Otherwise good.

Reliable, good choice of heating settings
I think the only that I notices was the timer knob seems a bit stiff to turn, otherwise all fine – good choice of heating controls and easy to adapt to whatever temperature items need. Sometimes the glass plate needs checkingthat it is secure when washed and put back in the oven which is common to all microwaves I have had..

    Like it, great price also
Have been using this now for approximately 6 weeks, user friendly, right size for us, the white has not turned colour as of yet, so why 4 stars and not 5, well about every 8-9 days the clock gains 2 minutes which if your like me you have to keep correcting. Recommended.

It’s a white, not too big, none digital appliance, which is what we wanted. The one thing that does annoy us is the glass plate inside. It’s easily dislodged. Seems the runner is too light. Plus some of the larger dinner plates don’t fit in. However everything else works fine and we are happy with it. The price was right slso.

    Hard to grasp knobs
Cheap and cheerful. Definitely not the most good looking microwave. But I bought it primarily for its microwaves, not it’s charming looks. The knobs are quite tight and they are hard to grasp and turn sometimes, especially if your hands are even slightly wet for any reason. Who would have thought. Really, the design of the knobs is not very smart. I thought it was a long solved problem in microwave ovens but looks like the designer had to “reimagine it’s solution”. Well they didn’t do a very good job there. Other than that, it’s good. It microwaves stuff.

You can buy cheaper but this mid price range cooker seems well made and should be as a Toshiba product. We needed a microwave in a great hurry and the combination of this one and Prime next day delivery saved our celebration dinner. I suppose the mark of its appeal is that now we no longer need it, we have held on to it rather than just sell in on ebay to get rid of it!

    Reasonable Buy
It looks good with the black numeric keypad as a continuation of the black door, although the keypad panel is actually glued on. The keys are easy to use, and the unit is ridiculously easy to set up. It has a revolving plate in the oven, which is quite firmly placed in position, although it’s easy to remove for cleaning. In use, it’s a bit noisy. I would have thought modern microwaves would have overcome the noise problem, but not this one. It’s not deafening, but it’s far from quiet. It cooks everything very well, which is after all the main feature. The revolving plate ensures the food is cooked all through. All in all, it’s quite a good unit which I don’t regret buying.

    Steamy!
    Toshiba 800 w 20 L Microwave Oven
I’ve cooked with microwave ovens since 1973, both in pub kitchens and at home .
This is the steamiest model I’ve ever worked with.
I find the controls easy, the results as they should be: but oh my the steam!
Steam positively GUSHES from the vent in the left side of the casing and runs down the inside of the cooking chamber to puddle on-&-below the turntable.
I can cope with that: I wipe my microwaves with kitchen tissue after every use anyway.
But it really isn’t suitable for a family where several members use it and only one of them cleans it, because you’ll end up with puddles in-&-around it. And please site it thoughtfully, not where the steam from the left-side vent will scald someone passing by it.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersNice and compact little microwave, does the job.
Since moving into our new house I’ve been waiting for the perfect time to get a microwave so when I saw this for 50 on prime day, I thought why not.

The microwave is nice and compact for a 20l microwave and it has no trouble fitting a standard sized dinner plate. The compact size was especially important as our kitchen is quite small so we needed to minimise space usage.

I’ve been using it for while now to cook a variety of dishes and it’s been working really well so far. From jacket potatoes to melt in the middle puddings it handles all with ease.

The white design is quite neutral and fits in well with the rest of the kitchen. The only thing that lets this microwave down is the feet. Because they’re not rubber it means that if you have this flat against a wall and you press the door open button the whole microwave slides around. If it wasn’t for that I would have given this 5 stars. Thankfully we have microwave in the corner so we don’t have this issue but it’s something to be aware of.

Got this for my mum when hers died. She wanted a simple one with a couple of knobs on it, and knowing Tosh as being a fairly sound brand, talked her into getting this one.
I previously wrote that the internal light didn’t work because mum was continually complaining about it – I just used it today, and actually it does, so I’ve edited this – I can see what she means though, it’s not the brightest of lights, but then it is a microwave after all 🙂

    Poor controls ergonomics.
This is a replacement for a quite old 20L microwave and the first impression: the litre might have shrunk over the years because this 20L oven is definitely smaller than the 20L it replaces! It has very basic controls which is a plus in my book but because the knobs have shrunk as well it’s definitely more fiddly to operate than the old one. So I would rate the ergonomics of the controls as very poor. I’ve been using it for over three months now and I have no other complaints.

Good value 20L microwave BUT heavy condensation inside
We don’t have a lot of spare space on our kitchen counter so we wanted a smaller 20L microwave. This one does everything that we need.

Some of the features that I like include:
    * It displays the time whenever the microwave is not in use. Not all microwaves have the time on them – as some go into energy-saving modes. However, I really wanted to be able to see the time on a microwave.
    * It only requires one button press to operate the microwave at full power for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 minutes. Just press that number key and the microwave comes on at 100% power.
    * It also has three programmable buttons. For example, if you regularly cook something for 5 minutes 30 seconds at 50% power, that is about 10 key presses. But you can save up to three programmes in the memory. Just hit the ‘memory’ button (also the zero) and then either 1, 2 or 3 to start your programme.

HOWEVER, the main issue we have with the microwave is that there is a lot of condensation that builds up inside – far more than our previous microwave. It drips off the back and puddles inside. It either needs the door open (which then activates the interior light) for 10 minutes after use or wiping up with a cloth.

Also, it is only an 800W microwave though; if you need a more powerful microwave or you wish to have a grill, then this Toshiba microwave is NOT for you.

Overall we’re reasonably happy with this microwave. It does what we need, looks smart and was good value.

A good Basic Microwave Oven - But!!
We recently decided to re-place our Kitchen Microwave Oven, and settled on this Toshiba Microwave as it looked
nice, and was a reasonable price. However, although we have only had it for a matter of a few days, we can already see that the ‘Glass Plate’ that is the most important part of the user ability, does not seem to fit the appropriate base turntable fixture very well!! It seems as if the Glass Plate is either the wrong one for this particular oven, or it is not the original one that was designed for it, and so when we come to use the oven for a jug (for milk), or a single item, it tends to ‘Wobble’ on its base. This of course, has somewhat taken the ‘Shine’ off what is otherwise a nice Microwave.

    Good appliance
This is a pretty standard microwave, which appears to be working fine. It gives off a bit of a smell when it’s in operation, which I hope will eventually disappear; otherwise no complaints.

    Does the job.
Nice good enough microwave. Easy to use and powerful. I still need to understand some of the features but so far, so good. The clock is 12 hours so don’t be led into thinking it’s faulty (I did). A bit steamy sometimes but it’s ok if you figure out the time.

Compact design and easy to use
Good value for money – really impressed with the compact size externally and a discreet design (my last microwave was ultra modern but very bulky and actually didn’t hold a bigger size plate, it was just awkward and took up the kitchen worktop) This is stylish, unobtrusive easy to use and wipes clean too.

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersDial setting numbers illegible.
There is only one problem with this microwave and that is that it has dark colours over a black background making it almost impossible to see the settings, the same applies to the knobs that you set the settings by. These are also black with no markings on whatsoever but in place of a mark is a small cutout on the know again this is impossible to see. I have had to add some white strips of white sticky back tape on both to assist with setting the times etc. Even so this is not ideal as I and my carer still cannot see the numbers only the white strips i have added on the common used times. The image i so online looked more legible and as a retired professional photographer I know why, we use lights in my profession to provide a bright lights on the subject, but in the real world this can give a false impression, as in this case.

    Can't see the dials
The dials are black with just a ridge to line up with the setting numbers.. I’ve had to paint on the ridge and even then I can’t see to use it unless very bright lighting is directly on i

Ordered in the evening and arrived next morning. Switched on, set the time and heated a cup of soup as a test, result, piping hot soup. What more could you want, neat, stylish and works as expected, I’m happy. Plus of course the price is very reasonable.

Great for Dad’s needs, as you can see, he uses it daily! Only drawback is the internal light is quite dim through the door glass.

I have poor eyesight so have difficulty seeing the marker for the timer but overall it works for us. I didn’t want all bells and whistles as I really only want a machine to cook porridge and reheat meals. It does this at a great price

    Good value good quality microwave
Fairly basic microwave, although one-button access to common programs (1 minute, 2 minute, hot drink, etc) is nice. Push buttons are a bit unresponsive – especially if you forget to remove the protective film (cough). Toshiba makes a big fuss about how quiet the fan is (won’t disturb your sleeping baby), but it isn’t that quiet – and the 5 loud beeps to signal the end of cooking time will definitely wake that child.

A great little microwave. Powerful, easy to use and still big enough for a full sized dinner plate. I replaced an old, huge, combination oven with this as I realised I never used the conventional oven aspect. Now it feels like I have a whole extra lump of worktop in my small kitchen. A great buy.

It’s small, very small, neat, attractive and it does the job. I like the versatility of it’s settings very much. Great for cooking my porridge in stages. But having come from a 30yr old microwave which I now realise was huge…. I now wish I’d spent more and got something more substantial, less toy-like and easier to use.

For starters, there’s a 2 x 4inch panel that holds 24 rectangular switches under a shiny surface without a pip in sight, so you have to be precise in where you press and then make sure you press quite hard. For anyone old and a bit decrepit with failing eyesight like me, ie who can’t read the switch labels without their reading glasses, this is always something of a faff.

Next comes the The Opening. This microwave doesn’t have a handle with which to open the door. Oh no. This is achieved by ramming an arthritic thumb deep into it’s interior and then a bit deeper still until the door suddenly springs open with a vengeance and then bounces back again off it’s hinges, so be very careful if in your other hand you’re holding anything liquid ready to ‘just pop into’ the microwave. If the opening press-button was in the left hand corner things would be so much easier and less of a 2 handed faff every time you go to microwave something. Which brings me to the closing of the door and what was originally my pet peeve. You can’t close the door quietly however carefully you try. There is an almighty thwack and clang every time that belies it’s small size. So forget any secret late night microwaving because you’ll wake the household. After some prodding and poking I discovered that the front switch panel on mine wasn’t secured at the base to the main body of the unit, and after tightening this up by ramming a sliver of debit card into the gap, and sticking a couple of Sticky Fixer pads to the inside corners of the door, the door now shuts with less of a rattly clang and more of a satisfying, albeit loud, thud.

Something else that made me tut and which I haven’t seen anyone else mention is the mains lead. It’s black. On this little pure white microwave that goes well with my other white kitchen appliances and my white paintwork and white power sockets on the worktop wall they’ve put a great big thick black cable and plug! Madness if you ask me.

I’m still giving it 5 stars though. But next time I’ll get one with a door handle.

My husband would be lost without a little microwave and the seal on our ancient microwave was extremely suspect, so needed replacing. It needed to be small ish, simple to use and we certainly didn’t need lots of bells and whistles. The price was right on this one, as well, so I ordered it on Amazon and it seems to fit the bill perfectly. It’s easy to clean and doesn’t take up too much room, which is important. Work surfaces are there for doing things on, not to be occupied by gadgets that I rarely use.
