Easy to install and use.
Installation was somple and set-up just as easy. I now have this on a timer so i do not meed to ‘remenber’ to open or close the blind. Saying that, the blond can be operated with a push of a button on the unit or via the app. The app works wherever there is internet access.
I am my Wife's Hero - Vertical Blinds Sorted
“Alexa, Let there be light!” calls out my Wife each morning, to which the vertical blinds in our conservatory rotate to let light in. She loves it, being so much more convenient to having to manipulate the blind’s cords at each end of the conservatory. One command and its done.
Being hooked up to Alexa also means that 1 hour before Dusk the blinds will automatically close themselves.
I definitely earned some brownie points installing two of these.

I’ve been looking for something suitable for many months, more for security when we’re away from home to close our front vertical blinds at night. The device was recommended by a blinds salesman, as a cheaper option to what he would supply, because his quote was far too expensive. The device was easy to install, connect to my router, set up schedules and to connect with Google Home. Work very well
I use on the living room Roman blinds the are very heavy custom made to fit but take a lot of winding to open and close. I have to say I would probably leave them up all the time without this fitted and just use the curtains .I have this set to operate automatically at dusk till dawn and it works every day even when I’m away and if I want them closed I can do that when I’m away to. Not fast but it wasn’t when I had to do it myself. Only negative is they are a little noisy but I’m normal in bed when they open so never hear them would be different if they are fitted in a bedroom.

Works great. Just two things to remember for easy setup. 1, follow instructions to set the blind top & bottom. 2, setting up though app, must have 2.4GHz enabled on your WiFi router and use OPTION 2 instructions to pair with app & router. Doing this took my approx 5 mins to get it installed and working.
Only installed today so can’t confirm how long it lasts but working fine atm.

A great Produc
The motor arrived on time, was well packed and came with comprehensive instructions. I had two fiddly bits to navigate. The first was drilling holes to fix the mounting plate. The second was linking to wi-fi. Now, if I had not read all the reviews that warned about 2.4 GHz wi-fi only (and I had turned the instruction page over to Method 2), I would have completed the installation very, very quickly. As it was I fiddled around with the router etc. for (seems like) hours. Then I turned over the instruction page – and voila! all done in 2 minutes. So to sum up. Great practice works fine with button pushes, remote access through the app, and with Alexa. Oh – one other small point, you do have to set the “end points” (open and closed settings) before it will work through the app (again my reading skills let me down!!).
Installed smoothly & works perfectly
I was a little worried after reading some reviews talking about how it wasn’t easy to install, that it was noisy, or that it was slow. I’m glad I ignored them and went for it anyway!
The hardest part of the install (for me) was working out how to open the top part to get the beaded chain in. Turns out you just pull it… The instructions don’t mention this, though, so it took some trial and error.
Next came the physical install – drilling some holes (the template was excellent for helping with this) and fitting the engine to the wall. I was surprised at how large the engine was, so check its dimensions and make sure it will fit and still allow your blinds to slide past. Mine does, but I was worried when I first saw the size of it.
The final stage of the physical set-up was setting the high and low points for the blinds. Not only are there instructions inside, a large sticky label on the box makes it clear that you MUST do this and has very clear instructions how to.
I use the Tuya Smart app for some lights already, so used that for the Blind Engine. I turned off my 5GHz wifi and then followed the instructions for using Tuya – it installed perfectly, and first time. Even better, Alexa picked it up with no further intervention from me as I already had the skill set up for Tuya.
I set up some routines in Alexa – a voice control for blinds up/open and another for blinds down/closed, then a close-at-sunset one and an open-in-the-morning one. It all works like a charm!
So what about the noise? Well, I can hear it (it does have a motor in it), but it isn’t noisy. I doubt I’d hear it from another room. I wouldn’t have to raise my voice if I was chatting while it happened.
What about the speed? It moves at about the speed I’d expect – a stately pace. I haven’t timed it, but maybe 15 seconds for my big window?
I’ll update my review if anything goes wrong – if the reliability is poor or anything like that. But for now I am very happy and I’ll be buying more for other windows as and when I can afford it.
How did I manage without this....?
This Ajax blind motor is simply awesome. Being disabled I used to struggle with opening and closing but after fitting this – WOW JUST WOW its a must have for any home.
I’m that impressed I’ve bought a second motor for the bedroom.

Great piece of smart ki
Great piece of smart kit, perhaps a tad pricey, but glad I bought it. Pretty easy to install if you have a little DIY knowledge, use the second method of installation to your hub/router, it’s easier. Connected mine to the smart life app. Getting Alexa to control it is a little more complicated, and the instructions are poor and hard to read, but I succeeded as I’m pretty good with phones and pc’s etc.

Fitted to help my elderly mum to open and close her full height vertical blinds. Work great. Only downside is not being able to also ‘twist’ the blinds and having to leave them in a semi open state that allows the blinds to open and close without bunching up.

Fairly easy to attach to my blind and use manually, but could not connect to the app , tried everything for over an hour so gave up very frustrated, let’s hope tomorrow will bring progress – so no not value for money at moment- product no use at present. Aaaaaah!

Perfect addition to smart home
I’ve had my eyes on this blind motor for a while now and decided to buy it when it was on sale recently.
I’ve had it for about 3 weeks and so far they’ve been working flawlessly. I can’t fault it at all. I wish it was a bit quieter but it’s only a minor “complaint” compared to what it can do and how easy it was to setup.
I love the Alexa integration and have successfully integrated it to Home Assistant and create new automations as shown in the video.
Definitely a great addition to our smart home. Love them.

After doing much research I decided to buy the Ajax version of this automation. This product has amazing reviews and for good reason. It is easy to mount and assemble. It can work for virtually any blinds. It comes with instructions that make the pairing process easy to both the Smart Life APP and Smart Speakers like Alexa and Google Home. I was also happy with the prompt shipping. I ordered this product to be delivered to me here in Canada and it arrived in less than a week. There are only a few cons: the motor is loud, the actual hardware is bulky, it does NOT have a solar power option, only works with UK outlet (you will need an adapter if purchasing from Canada or the States) and it does not come with a double-side adhesive (only offers drill mounting option).
Some of these cons can be innovatively fixed, I mounted the product with command strips and it seems to be staying on the wall with no complications. I got this so I could control my curtain with Alexa, you have to create a routine to have it open or close your curtains. In the routine I merely included some music for when the curtain opens, thus reducing the irritating noise made from the motor.
Honestly, this is an amazing product. Maybe a bit pricy considering the noise, but from what I’ve been researching this is the most seamless and easy to use blinds/curtain opener on the market.

Initially worried that the curtain system I had would be difficult to adapt to the remote motor but should not have been …. easy to fit, runs quietly and efficiently and opens and closes my bedroom curtains when I ask Alexa.

I would like to thank the company for delaying the warranty for me, because I brought this back in December 2020 for one of my christmas presents from all the family but could not get it fitted because of Lockdown, my son came and fitted it for me on the 1st May 2021 and here is a video of the blind working.

Perfect Customer Service
Slowly our home is turning into a smart home and automated bedroom blinds were some of the icing on the cake. After some research I chose the Ajax Online blind engine. Having ordered it from Amazon, it arrived the next day in very smart packaging that you would expect from a high end product, along with very comprehensive installation and setting up instructions. (for some bits you need good eye sight!) The installation is an absolute piece of cake and the supplied template makes any hole drilling very simple. I found out that it’s imperative to follow instructions to the letter, particularly the setting of the up and down limits before you start on anything else. Once the Smart Life app is installed, Alexa found the blind engine fairly quickly and you will need to set-up an Alexa routine, which is fairly straightforward. Unfortunately, just as I got to the Alexa routine I heard an electrical pop! The supplied power supply had failed tripping my fuse box. it was a Sunday afternoon – I thought I’d try and phone Ajax, only to get a message that the office was closed until Monday. Fair enough, I thought, only to receive a call on my mobile from Ajay at Ajax a short while after, asking how he could help. I explained and without hesitation he arranged for a replacement power supply to be dispatched. All now working perfectly and very happy with the product and excellent service from Ajax. I’ll probably be buying a second blind engine shortly.

It did only take 10 mins to install so nice and easy.
Only problem is it you get the instructors out of order it is was not clear you have to setup in the Smart Life app before connecting it to Alexa.
All in all it took 30 mins to have it installed and get working with Alexa, including creating three custom voice commands ‘Open blinds’, ‘close blinds’, and ‘its sunny’ – lower the blinds part way and two custom time based opening/closing on sunset/sunrise.
Very simple to install
Own 4 of these now, and have been installed for nearly a year. Install is incredibly easy, setting up through the app and alexa is pretty simple too. Very minor gripe is that every now and again the bottom point goes out by maybe 10-15mm, but when this happens it takes less than 30 seconds to re-set the bottom limit.

I found this to be an excellent product easy to install and it does the job. There are two things I would mention to prospective users. Tension on the chain seemed to be important. I experimented by holding the device against the wall whilst it was running to get what I felt to be correct. My curtains are heavy and the motor starts to struggle as it gets near the top. Not really a problem as I have set the stop on the motor about a foot from the top and I think it actually looks bette

Good quality, easy to install
I have installed this to lift/lower a 2m wide and 2m high roller blind. The installation was straightforward and in a short time it was running. The blind is quite heavy but this could raise it ok. I would say it was getting close to its limit though. I thought it was reasonably quiet. Only little gripe is that the power supply plug has a green led which is too bright for a bedroom, easily covered though. Recommended.
Does what it says after minor tweaks
My first blind engine, so these are immediate/first reaction comments
a) needed to tweak the blind slightly as cord was far too long, looking at my other blinds,
they will probably all need some work to get engine positioned sensibly.
b) the mounting plate seems odd, looks like it could screw into frame, but template provided
set unit some way away from window frame
c) mounting unit as per template meant that the blind snagged on it, moved it out 2cm and its fine
Others have said noisy and/or slow, although I don’t have much to compare it with, it is pretty
much as I expected (similar to a powered curtain track I have)
pairing and getting connected to Alexa took 2 attempts, but after that “close blind”, “open blind”
working within 10 minutes 🙂
Simple and efficie
With the aid of the online videos this is easy to install and works well.
I am using it to close curtains (rather than blinds) and it works on standard corded track.
I will probably buy more for other rooms. Can’t yet link it to Google Home but that is probably my lack of computer skills!
Brill once set up
Not the easiest to set up and not fully compatible with my other smart controls (Alexa & smart things) but can operate it no problem from its own app. Alexa will operate it if you specify a percentage for the open/close function. I love having the ability to operate my blind remotely and it’s quite a heavy blind but this can open it with ease.

I purchased this item in October it was easy to fit a bit fiddly to set the upper and lower limits but easy to connect to my Alexa and set up the remote operations. However what really set this as 5 star was the excellent customer service I received from Ajax online when I approached them regards a query the response was fast efficient and they even contacted me to check the issue was sorted. Great customer friendly set-up and ease of use
Love this product. The packaging and instructions are all very clear, with sizing and fitting tools all provided. I was very impressed by the customer friendly approach.
Installation itself was easy, if you can drill two holes into a wall you are 90% there. You fit the blind chain into the motor using any 3 of the suitable cogs provided (depending on your type of blind chain) and then slot the motor into a holder that screws into the wall and then Voila!
It works so well with my Zebra blinds and I’ve added a automatic schedule so it so it opens and closes the slots in the blind for evening blackout and morning daylight times. Effortless.
I connected to my wifi in 30 seconds. I haven’t connected to Alexa yet as I don’t think I would use the function, it serves its purpose for me to just open and close the slots in my zebra blind on morning and evening schedules.
If I was to be picky, I cannot automatically wind the blind all the way up if I wanted to manually open (override the slot open and close settings ) without having to restore to factory settings. I don’t see that as a big problem as can do that every 6 months for window cleaning etc if need be.
Also it’s not very aesthetic as it’s quite bulky and sits outside on the side of recessed window over the blind edge. But I can live with it. It’s not so noisy for the short movements for my open and close function (literally seconds) so it’s not noticeable for me.
All in all, very pleased with the ease of use and set up and happy to recommend this.
Works well with Alexa!
Took a long time to install as had issues setting the limits. The instructions on this bit are not clear at all. Also make sure the tension is right to get the right pull on the cord. However I finally got there and can honestly say its a great bit of kit. Works perfectly with alexa and now have my blinds to open and close on timer.
Works Well
I think the blind is the most difficult part to install as you have to get the drop correct. Oh here is a hint make sure if there is a join in the blind cord to have the join at the top or the bottom as it wont work if it goes through the device. Its not the most elegant of solutions but it works and good value for money. I am very happy with mine as it is in a difficult window to reach and now I don’t have too. 🙂

I was somewhat doubtful as to whether my technical skills would be up to programming this and when I came to do it was proved right! I need not of worried because the Ajax support was fantastic and sorted it all out for me, I learned a lot myself too.
