We use them to stop our cats escaping on to a busy street. Truth be told, the cats aren’t that interested in escaping. However, these provide amazing peace of mind and allow us to ventilate the house without fear of them escaping. I even used them for the Velux windows in our attic!! Honestly, they are great. Give them a go. You can even drill them in rather than using the 3M tape if you prefer.
If I had to find fault, I do think they’re a bit pricey for what is fundamentally a bit of plastic and some 3M adhesive. It’s fine if you only want one or two but, when you want to do a whole house (like us), then it can really add up! We have been buying them a couple of units at a time as a result. We recently inherited my grandparents’ former house which we are incredibly grateful for but there are 27 window openings throughout the house so, rather than pay 270 in one chunk, we’ve been doing it bit by bit.
Other than the price being slightly on the high side these are still a really good purchase.

No matter how much my cats try to push the window open, they can’t. Very quick to fit and has held well for a few weeks now. I ordered white but grey arrived which wasn’t ideal.
This is my third one of these and will be getting more. Have an indoor cat and he is able to push windows open to get out so we had to keep them shut, not good for no ventilation and air circulation so it was frustrating. This is a perfect solution, they fix to the window frame and glass and allow them to be opened enough for fresh air but cat cannot get through the gap. They detach easily with push-click mechanism if you need to open window fully for any reason.
Make sure you line up properly using a spirit level and get the placement right because once attached it’s not possible to remove the sticker without ruining it. You’ll need to then scrape it off (avoid metal on the uPVC or glass, plastic best) and sticky residue remover for rest. Replacement 3m pads are available online then cut to size. I found this out the hard way. Once fitted leave 72hrs before opening window for maximum adhesion and make sure surfaces are clean and dry before applying. I used first aid alcohol wipes and then kitchen roll to dry off. A tiny bit of wd40 to the slider can help it where needed but not always necessary. Will be getting a few more.

Having indoor only kitties I was getting fed up of not being able to open my large opening windows any more. These resolved this issue. So plenty of fresh air and even my biggest kitty who is huge cannot open them any further so just perfect. Have them all over the house now 🙂
Absolutely love that I can now open my upstairs windows while the cat is in the room and not have to worry that he’ll jump out. I bought 1 for all 3 bedrooms and honestly they were so so easy to install and when they’re stuck down they don’t budge. I would recommend this to anyone that has an indoor cat, we have a catio built out the back so he has safe access to the outdoors but now I an let air around the rooms and not have to always remember to shut all bedroom doors. This is easy to use and provides peace of mind. I watched my cat execute some boneless, ninja moves to escape through the window gap. Not any more and I can have the benefit of the nice breeze.

I bought it hoping it would add a little security to my big windows (I know this is not what it’s for but give it a go). Not really strong enough for security but it is an added visual deterrent. It would work very well for what it is designed for. Stopping kids jumping out of windows.
These are super easy to attach and can be flipped to serve right and left opening windows. The gap when fully extended and clipped in is good however we have a petite old cat and she could slip through quite easily. They are ok not fully extended if the cat isnt strong enough to push open. Fully extended they would be safe for a child. They are a little bit fiddly when you wish to close them needing two fingers to depress the clip then simultaneously use the hand to slide it out of the lock. Overall very good strong product just be mindful of the gap size you require.
Two words, life saver!
After suffering last summers heat and being unable to open our windows with the kitten in the room, this year we got a second cat and I decided to purchase this. Needless to say that nobody is suffering any more! Our upstairs windows can be opened enough for air to get around whilst keeping the pets in. It was super easy to fit to the window and work perfectly even for our windows that push out from the bottom. Both babies like to sit and feel the air coming in whilst being safe and I get a better nights sleep! My partner ordered a second one.

My windows would blow closed all the time so bought this to prop it open. adhesion is really strong and was dead easy to set up. Would be 5 stars if the arm was a little longer to be able to open further. However as its for childs protection it works perfectly.
We bought one of these to get some fresh air in the house for the summer. Our cats don’t go outside and this is a great way of getting fresh air in while keeping the windows relatively secure. We ended up buying four more and have them all over the house now. Easy to install and come with extra adhesive pads in case you make a mistake. Top tip- if you want to remove the pad from the plastic roll it with your finger, works way better than picking at it.
Obviously these wouldn’t stand up against someone trying to break in so careful you remember to close any that leave your house vulnerable before going out or to bed, but for kids and pets, they are plenty strong enough!

Bought for my little ones room and it does exactly as it’s supposed to. My only gripe would be that it can be a bit stiff but then I suppose that could be a good thing too………
Got this to enable fresh air to come into a bedroom without a tiny 9 week old kitten being able to squeeze out, and this works a treat. I experimented by holding it and opening the window in different positions on the window frame and checking the gap before peeling off the stickers and applying them. Once these 3M stickers are stuck..they’re stuck! I managed to get ours positioned so the kittens head couldn’t fit in the crack in the window. It allows way more air flow than having the Upvc window on the latch, but also were concerned that the kitten, as it got older, would be able to push the window open, so this does the trick perfectly. Problem responded for a tenner and no drilling and wrecking the Upvc window frames. Such a great invention. You do need both hands to open and close it though, but thats not a problem. It needs to be tricky else young children would work it out. We located it at the top of the window as we have blinds, so the gadget is covered up most of the time. Its not an eye-sore as we got a colour that matched the window colour, we just preferred it out of sight and well out of the kittens reach.
Wanted something to stop the wind taking the window and throwing it wide open.
Not had strong wind as yet but so far easy to fit and work, just wish they were a bit longer to allow a wider opening, but that’s not suitable for who these are aimed at ie children / cats
I bought this to give me peace of mind having the window open without worrying that my cat would get outside (he’s an indoor cat that gets out to the garden in summer) but sadly he has twice got his head and paw out then got stuck.
I bought 4, they arrived just as I’d finished cleaning my windows and frames. The 3M VHB (very high bond) double sided tape used to fix the device is 2nd to none. Just make sure you thoroughly clean the area, I used isopropyl alcohol. The instructions are simple. After 20 minutes the adhesive is at 50% of it’s max strength, after 24 hours 90% and 72 hours at 100%. As you can see my cat Niki is not able to escape yet there is plenty of breeze coming in. I’m very happy with my purchase, recommended.
I bought this window restrictor as I had caught my cat who pushed the 2nd floor bathroom window open and was sitting on the window ledge.
My heart was in my mouth as she had to go backwards to get back into the room. With it being a bathroom the window is always open a little but she’s worked out she can push it open.
I did use a little rope around the window handle and looped it around the tap, it worked but didn’t look that great so I looked for an alternative way.
I’m really pleased with this catch, very easy to fit but do try it in position before taking the backing off the tape then fix it. It looks like part of the window and opens enough to air the room but not enough for my cat to squeeze through.
With summer on its way I can safely know the windows open and my cats safe to.
Although my window already had a restrictor on it, it still opened too far for our indoor cat to escape. This restrictor was perfect as a temporary solution without drilling permanent hooks in place.
Easy to install and operate and the arm disconnects from the locking point if the window is required to be opened fully.
I didn’t like the fact then when opened fully, the sliding part locks into a groove and you are required to pinch the locking point to be able to shut the window again. To get around this, I positioned the smaller end slightly further inwards, so that when the window opened it didn’t slide its full potential and thus prevents it sliding into the locking point.
Item is easy to install and has shown no signs of coming off easily. I decided to hide it at the top behind my blinds.
Plan to get more for the rest of the windows.
I like this product as it was easy to fit and stops my cats being able to get out of my bottom opening windows, my windows opened too far allowing my cats to get out so I was unable to open my windows which was a pain as the weather has been so hot lately. As the restrictor is for a side opening window the adhesive pad and fitting is slightly wider than my frame so I would not be able to say how safe it would be for children. The slider also needs to be adjusted by hand to close one of my windows. I am pleased with my purchase for the use of keeping my cats inside the house, they have tried to push their way out but so far so good.

Super other than the large size
Work very well, stick is brilliant but there are also holes to screw it in as well so even better, also comes with replacement sticky pads which turned out to be very useful. A little fiddly for an adult so definitely safe to use if you have children or pets etc that you don’t want falling.
A life saver for summe
I live in an old house with casement windows and needed something that would allow me to open the windows but restrict the opening to keep my cats from escaping. These were really easy to install and whilst the directions are to put them at the bottom I actually had to use the top which worked exactly the same. Now I can have the windows open in summer and not worry about the cats escaping. The adhesive is very powerful so make sure you carefully plan where it should go first as once it’s placed on the window frame it isn’t coming off again.
Pretty solid for a stick-on fitting
Bought this to stop the cat taking risky leaps out of of elevated windows. It’s sturdy enough to resist opening the window further and had a neat button system that lets you use the window normally when required (I can’t imagine a child or cat working out the release mechanism).

I was hesitant to buy a self adhesive restrictor but am glad I did. Holds the window open securely about 4-5cm. Easy to install, sturdy and adhesion of the strips is impressive. Being white on the white pvc frame it doesn’t seem out of place and looks well.
I should have bought it before!
Finally I can open the window to let some air in without the possibility of my cats jumping out because they saw a fly or a bird! I pushed the window open quite hard to see if it would break but it didn’t. Peace of mind that me Leo (black and white) won’t be able to push it open with all his body weight. Now my cats gets to sniff the outside world without my room becoming stuffy. I will order more… I can even imagine putting them on my patio door.

I adjusted this to a smaller length as my cats could still get out if it was the original length but it was very easy to do. It’s so sturdy and now I don’t have to worry about my two cats getting out.

Fits most windows
Have these fitted in all my upstairs windows. The pads are very sticky, and so long as the surface is clean and flat they are solid if you don’t disturb then for 24 hrs after applying. Marked it down as it’s sold as universal but my sons window didn’t have a wide enough edge, if it had option of screwing on it would have done better.

Brought these based on other reviews. We have an indoor cat who very much loves sticking his head out the window. As we live in a second-story flat we cannot have the windows open as he has tried to get out. With the days getting warmer we needed something to allow us to have them open and give us peace of mind. After installing the guard we monitored our cat closely. He is a rather big cat sitting at 7KG. He had gone full pelt at the window trying to catch a bird outside and the lock didn’t even budge. We are now happy leaving our windows open at night knowing he cannot get out. They have been a game-changer as it allows us to stay cool and him to enjoy sniffing the world outside. I cannot recommend them enough for anyone with an indoor cat who has a desire to escape through windows.

Brought these and very easy to install and they work fantastic, you can fit them on right/left opening windows very easily. That good i brought some more. They look good and are very easy to use. I love this, I was worried my toddler would be able to reach out the window but this locks it open so he can’t open it further and its open the perfect amount that the cat can’t come in to his room from outside also. Its slight to wide for our window but still enough flat area for it to work but I assume this means it won’t be as strong if it was to be pushed hard. overall great window safety for out home.

I genius product....sadly let down by the lock system
I really like the product and will buy 2 more at some point. I got them for my cats specifically as the only windows I can open in the summer are the ones leading out into their catio. Adhesive is excellent..I know this as I put the first of 3 on wrong and had to get it off again!…(no easy task). I would advise you look at the very helpful photo’s submitted by reviewers first as it matters depending on what way your window opens. Only criticism is the lock…really fiddly to unlock in my opinion..so I try to open to the point just before it locks to avoid the hassle. Only for that it would have been 5 stars.

It was a very sturdy piece of equipment and although I wasnt confident to fix myself my daughter did in no time at all. I used one on my lounge window which tends to blow wide open if the wind gets up. The other went on my bedroom window as I like to sleep with the window ajar. They are working well.

After searching and reading other reviews, we settled on this. The place we just moved into has broken latches in the kids room and given that summer is coming, we wanted open windows down the line.
Two of these took about 5 minutes to install. And they work. So simple to use and we don’t have to worry about a window being too far open. As a plus, it is a little tricky so kids can’t open fully themselves. If we need more for other windows down the line, then this is what I’ll be ordering.

These are great and give me peace of mind that my indoor cat won’t escape and fall out the window. I was considering mesh window covers and these are much less intrusive. I just wish they came in white – they’re a bit ugly on my white UPVC windows. I also have no idea how I’ll get them off when I move out as they’re *really* sticky, but I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.

I love having my window open, winter and summer, especially when it’s windy. But the restrictors on my window are broken, and if it was really windy, sometimes the window would blow right open, and I was scared it could be wrenched off its hinges. I thought it wasn’t going to fit at first, as the space on my actual window frame looked to be too narrow for it to fit, when the window was closed. Luckily it did just fit, with a slight overlap of the frame edge. The sticky pads are sticky, and I mean sticky! I had stuck one end of the sliding arm holder on, sightly too low, and I couldn’t shut the window. I manged to unstick it, but was terrified I was going to snap it, as it was so hard to unstick from the frame. It was pretty easy to install, but you do have to make sure it’s perfect, before you actually use the pads provided. Using cheap double sided tape would be a good idea, to ‘suss’ out where it needs to be positioned, before you use the pads. So, up to now, I’ve had the window open on two nights, where we’ve had wind speeds of well over 50mph, and the arm has kept the window in place, and any wind force, hasn’t ripped the fitting from the frame. Some reviews have stated that the glue on the pads seems to melt a bit in heat, I’m hoping mine will be ok, as in the summer, I get the sun on the window all day. Good that there are extra sticky pads included. The instructions are clear. I’ve found it pretty easy, to open/close and disengage the device too, although some may struggle. I’ve only had it for about a week, so time will tell how durable etc. it will turn out to be. But at the moment I am really pleased with this purchase, and that it seems to be doing the job I intended it to do. looks a good product. unfortuantly, too short for my use. my window frame is 100mm and the unit extends to 150mm. I need an opening of 100mm for my cats access. this unit is 500mm max.

I have two cats that I needed this for. My windows open inward so it’s really difficult to install any netting over the frame for an apartment on a higher floor. Luckily I came across this product and it’s wonderful! I can now leave the window open and have a gentle breeze without worrying about my cat falling off the window and getting injured!!

Seems ok! the adehesive is not the strongest as you can physically remove it and stick it back on, however its strong enough my cat can’t take it off!.
The window allows for a few CM,with this device to be open which is ok for me, as it allows some cool air into the room without the worry of the cat escaping.

Easy to install and is very much stuck on the window now! Ordered as we have very large windows and a house cat. I think it’ll work a treat when we want some air in the house but don’t want to worry about the cat falling out the windows! – The windows swing open at the bottom and are very wide so can be dangerous to people too. Stick really well
Bought a second after being so pleased with the first. Bought to keep two little kittens in while allowing some air into the room. Had to adjust positioning as I didn’t want them opening quite so far as the kittens are only tiny but they do a great job. Only downside is they are white on my dark wood window frames so not the nicest to look at…but still well worth it.

Stuck strait on windows ,held very strong .BUT please wait till the 72hrs as advised as my cat pushed through first time! After they are so strong and keep his 5kg fat boy body inside .

Very safe
Bought 6 of these so that I could open the windows without my cats escaping. Once attached (very easy, simply peel off the adhesive backing and attach to the window) it enables the window to open 2.5 inches which is big enough for a paw and leg to get through but nothing further – and they have tried, a lot! Even with a fatter cat leaning against it, it still stays firmly in place. Fantastic items.

I purchased these to stop my cat from getting out of the top windows whist letting in more fresh air than the half latches allow. Highly recommended kitty proof.
Fantastic but of ki
Really easy to fit. Strong adhesive. Stuck really firmly still, 4 months after purchase. Does the job really well. Feel confident that the window can’t be pushed open by kids or dogs.
Peace of mind
Our daughters have just moved into their own bedroom and these give me peace of mind that they’re safe. Super easy to install, took me about two minutes. Our window frame is slightly narrower than the part that sticks on to it but it still works well, very firmly in place and feels very sturdy. I couldn’t pull it off if I wanted to! Highly recommend!

Just had new plastic windows installed and needed some form of restrictions to prevent our indoor cats escaping but didn’t want anything which had to be screwed into the plastic. Spotted these online and tried one. Very easy to install but make sure you get it right the first time as the sticky pads are very sticky. It is very well made and does the job perfectly. It hasn’t moved since I installed it last week. I have purchased another two since.

I needed a restrictor for a third floor window. I was unable to use a ladder or get outside to fit other restrictors I looked at, so this seemed to solve the problem. And it did. It’s so easy to install and the adhesive is 3M VHB, so couldn’t be better. I can leave the window open all night and not worry that the wind will smash it. Brilliant, thank you.

Really simple to use
Does what it says on the tin. Looks secure and sturdy, and will stop my baby trying to get out the window! The only annoying thing was I ordered two of these and there was only one in the box. Amazon quick to issue refund so I can order another. Still 5/5 stars!

Peace of mind
Absolutely must have in a kids room! Once installed the window is limited to about 2 inches opening space so no worrying. Easy to install and the sticky patches are super strong!
Good purchase
Very happy so far. Very easy to install and the glue stickers underneath provide very strong adhesion (based on 1 week use of the product). It’s easy to disconnect the 2 elements to allow for full opening of the window. Colour choices would be helpful to match with your window frame but other than that it is a good purchase
Value for quickness, easy to install
Good product,not the best in securing your property if unattended, wouldn’t leave my windows open at all. Ideal when your home ,easy to fit would recomend using some sort of spray to make the slider slide better for pulling out the slider arm. Good sturdy hard plastic. Has bolt holes for the locking mechanism, but none for the long slider mechanism.
This tape is one of the best used in the industrial department. If someone wanted to get in they would very easily. Being in the trade this product is ok for when your home. Just don’t forget to shut your windows when ever your going out.

This is brilliant! It opens the window enough to allow a breeze in on the hot days, but doesn’t open it enough for your child to even attempt to climb up.
It sticks on with adhesive pads so no need to screw on to the window which is perfect for when it’s no longer needed.
I highly recommend this item and its very secure, the adhesive pads are very sticky to ensure they don’t budge.
Great little gadge
Not much of a reviewer but I had to give this amazing little gadget some praise!
Ridiculously easy to install, literally just peel and stick where you want it, no nails drilled into windows, no messy glue. It’s stuck on and won’t be coming off easily!
Cat can stick his nose through and have a nosey at the birds but can’t fit his head through, so no risk of getting stuck or squeezing out and I’ve finally got some airflow through the house now the weather is picking up!
So 10/10 for me, great product – seems very child safe too, ie double handed to unlock the main bar and tuck it away and as it’s sturdy it can’t be wriggled loose but can’t really comment too much on the child-proof-ness as it’s not what I use it for.
These window locks meet all my requirements. We ordered 1 to start off with and tested it for a few months and have now installed them on every window in the house.
They allow me to open the window enough to get a nice breeze and fresh air, whilst keeping my house cat inside. They were pretty easy to install and the glue seems very strong. The clasps are easy enough for an adult to undo, so I am still able to open them fully when I need to and in an emergency can get them open quickly. But they aren’t anything my cat could open. My husband also struggles with them, so they should also work well at keeping toddlers and children in too!
Overall I am really impressed with these for the price, they are a life saver in the warmer weather and keep my little fluffkins safe.
