A very good sander, easy to use and very effective. I used it to sand a kitchen table and chairs during upcycling. The 6 pads last pretty well and the tongue feature good for difficult areas. I added an old dust collector to it thus reducing escaping dust. I recommend it.

I didn’t have no issues with the sander but recently because it dropped due to me being tired it’s become quite loud and noisy since it dropped on the floor.
That being said it was only a couple of feet of the ground. Only time will tell how long it’ll last.

In the description it says that the mini tool is included.. but I don’t have it. Other than that the sander works as a sander should, my only other flaw would be the size of the vacuum connector ” doesn’t fit my vacuum” should come with a dust collector as a secondary option tbf

Reserved a star because I haven’t used this one yet. But had them before and they are terrific little things. You have to remember their limitations because they are for detail work in small areas only. But my last one which didn’t break but mysteriously disappeared (!) did loads of work with no issues and left a nice finish. I hope this one is as good, hence 4 stars rather than 5. Had it been my old one it would have been an unhesitating 5.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis sander is perfect for sanding-down prior to painting. My only quibble is that the on/off buttons need hard pressure to operate – a two-handed job. I would have expected them to be able to be operated, using a single thumb or finger push whilst using the sander.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersHad one before so yes it’s handy to use. First delivery missing part from box ( box intact) returned no issue there done quickly. Asked for replacement came next day. Same part missing . Keeping it as I need to get on with job. B &D just responded with its within 30 day guarantee, return/replace they don’t send parts to end user. Finger plate is the extension nose piece to get into those awkward bits. Check parts against leaflet list.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI was a bit sceptical if this was up to the job but it worked perfectly. I needed it for sanding down the skirtings etc for glossing. Hooked to the hoover it did the job just fine. Not too much dust. Just powerful enough to take the top layer off without going to the wood (or bone) in seconds!

Worth a look for the price.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersBeing a carpenter I need a reliable sander, one that the velcro pad is pretty durable and won’t wear out in a matter of weeks like a certain trade shop model has several times on me. This so far fits the agenda I set for my tools. It’s small but does the business of cleaning all of my fitted wardrobe MDF edges. One drawback is that the on/off switch seems to delay starting, it does go but seems a little sticky. Once you know that though it’s not a problem. He’ll for the price I shall use these again and again.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’ve been using this to remove the old varnish on 4 dining chairs. It’s so much faster than doing it by hand. It is tricky to get into the embellishments on the legs, but I was expecting to do those by hand anyway. I probably should have bought the finger attachment too.

If you attach a vacuum it is good at sucking up dust from the middle of the sandpaper but it’s not so effective near the tip due to where the suction holes are placed. Not a big issue though

It comes with 2 lots of 80 120 and 180 grit sandpaper.

Overall very happy. It’s a great price too

I borrowed this of my son, not sure how much it’s been used by him but the pointed end that takes the diamond section of paper. Used the new one, I think the upgraded version would have been a better choice in hindsigh

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersVery easy and straightforward to use. I sanded a side unit (1.3m long x 75cm depth x 80cm height) which took several hours. The sander is good, but not powerful enough for a large item of furniture. I got through 4 sanding sheets so I’ll need to buy refills.

Very messy, very loud. These are to be expected and are not a criticism of the product itself.

It got the job done for me, but took a lot of hard work and time where I think a larger/more powerful machine would have been better.

    Recommend for small surfaces

Does the job – could do with coming with a few more sheets of sanding paper as they wear down quickly. Very good feature having the vacuum attachment minimising dust. Would recommend for small home projects

  15. RachelHeidenrei says:

Great for helping power through small jobs or if limited on storage for larger belt sander. Would love it more if it came with a small dust bag . It does easily connect to vac but this can be harder to maneuver especially at high-speed so hence the preference for a small fuss bag instead. Easy to replace pads

I use a mouse sander virtually every day and have done for years. I bought this one to replace my previous one and am perfectly happy with it.
I usually get around 2yrs from a detail sander but, as said, I’m a heavy user. You can easily double that (or more) with simple DIY use.
I paid 20 and have never paid more than that. I once tried a different brand but it was loud and didn’t do as good a job. Definitely recommended.

Affordable and makes decorating easy. This is my second one in 5 years as the first one went bang. I believe it went bang because of where the vent is At the front. After heavy use a lot of dust made it’s way inside the sander and eventually blew, it still lasted me 4 years so I’m happy with it. The dust bag ain’t much use on it either as dust still gets everywhere. Overall I would still recommend it for its price and it still does a good job.

  22. Lance Cartelli says:

This well made and well priced Black and Decker detail mouse fits comfortably and ergonomically in my hand. It works well for finishing projects and comes with 6 various grit sanding sheets which are easily changeable using the velcro hook and loop system. Black and Decker and third party sanding sheets are easily available on Amazon and elsewhere. Each sanding sheet comes with two small additional pieces for the front part of the sander. Initially, I thought this was a gimmick but it’s actually a good idea as in use the tip seems to wear out quicker than the rest of the sheet. It’s not designed for removing a lot of material but more for finishing, which it does well. The vibration of the sander isn’t too bad on my hands, a lot less than my sheet sander.

Two small niggles, the power cord isn’t really long enough and the dust collection isn’t that good even when attached to my powerful Record shop vac. Also a shame the detail tip isn’t included but you can get into tight places without it.

    A great cheap detail sande

  23. Alberta66H says:

     United Kingdom

This does the job very well for finishing projects, it comes with a selection of grits right out of the box which was handy.
It’s not great for removing a lot of material but that’s not what it’s for, get yourself a random orbit or a belt sander for that but for what it’s intended for, it’s great.

The only downside is that it doesn’t come with a dust collection tub like most other sanders do, it has the hose attachment and that’s it. I’ve got round this by capping the end of the attachment with gaffer tape to try and collect some dust to use as filler, not a great solution but does the job.

  24. Joanne Dodd says:

     United Kingdom

Easy to use but could do with a slightly longer electric cord (although easily fixed with an extension lead!). It can get a bit dusty, even with the hoover extension. It doesn’t give the most even of results, it can be quite patchy, but for what I’m using it for it’s fine (upcycling some furniture and revamping kitchen cabinets). If I needed to use it on bigger projects or more frequently then I’d invest in something more effective _but_ it’s only about 20, really convenient and gives good enough results for what I need it for – a truly great price for what it is. I ended up getting the finger extension which was a helpful addition to enable me to get into some of the more difficult to reach places which perhaps sounds a bit more suggestive than originally intended.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVery pleased with this sander but a holding handle would have been useful as I have arthritis in my hands and found it not so easy to grip properly. I used it for removing paint from my kitchen bay window and plan to use it to remove varnish from some bedroom furniture and have no reason to think that it will not do that job well.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIf you want this for big jobs, it will take you forever and a day lol so only good for small jobs like sanding chairs, hand-rails etc. This sander was soooo hard to hold when it is on, the vibration goes all the way through your hands, so you have to really try and get the swing of holding it and doing the job properly, wear gloves! It nipped at me a little, not nice lol

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersNot much else I can add to the 10k reviews here..

It is for small jobs and not sanding walls or whole ceilings. Just little jobs.

At the time or purchase this cost 20 so its a bargain

I was not happy with the Vacuum (Hoover) attachment as it does not fit my VAX Max Power 9 Vacuum – The included attachment is too large. Would be easier if Black and Decker included a filter bag for the excess dust. This is why i gave this 4 stars.

There is also the small tip add on that is missing.. this should of been included in my opinion

Comes with 2 sets of sanding paper 120 Grit and 80 Grit

All in all a good purchase

    Pros

    * Cheap
    * Small Profile
    * Ideal for getting right into corners

    Cons

    * Attach Does not fit VAX Vacuum
    * No Tip Add On Included

I would purchase again at 20

We got this mini mouse tool to get into corners which were impossible to reach with our circular sander. It’s a good little tool, but a nightmare to turn on! The little button is so tiny and difficult to find. Nearly impossible to switch on and off with stiff work gloves. Once you’re past this though- it works a treat.

I had slight reservations about this product because I had read mixed reviews but I can honestly say, I’m so happy I bought it now. The vacuum attached to this sander, yes, at times it takes some manoeuvring, but for me, it’s a necessity. I love it. I’ve used it on small items of furniture, a gigantic old desk and internal doors. I would definitely recommend it.

For such a little sander, boy does it pack a punch! I needed this sander for small jobs like sanding tables and the photographed magazine rack, and it stripped the nasty orange veneer in no time at all. It is simple to use – even for a technophobe like me, and is perfect for small to medium size DIY jobs. Moreover, it is extremely cheap for a sander of this quality. It would have been good if it came with a dust box, which I would have expected as standard, but a great buy nevertheless. Replacement sander discs are also easy to come by, which also helps.

Where has this sander been all my life?

  40. Ree ReallyRee says:

     United Kingdom

The only issue I have is that the switch was not easy to use at first – it is under the dust protection – but once you’ve used it a couple of times its fine. Good value for the price but not for heavy use. If you buy this and try to do floorboards for an entire house and it fails you will only have yourself to blame. It’s a little finishing sander nothing more but what it is meant to do it does well.

I like this sander but only as part of a larger sander “armoury”. It is a good basic unit but it will NOT do prolonged, heavy work. I’ve had 2 of these expire in my hands whilst attempting to do walls for extended periods. But, for general, simple work it’s perfect.

I used it to degrade and prepare the laminate for painting
Sanding sheets are easy to fit and it comes with six sheets

I shan’t use it a lot but it will cut down time on some of the larger sanding items for me

The sander is sturdy, well made and the ‘iron’ design makes it easier to get into corners

I bought this to replace an old rectangular shaped sander. This new mouse one is much easier to use and changing the sandpaper is very straight forward as it is just a sort of velcro backing so you can just peel off the old paper and push on the new sheet. The sander sits well in your hand and is easy to control. I only used it for about 15 minutes to sand some paint and rust off some pipes but it did this very easily.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis little sander was great ! I didn’t realise that to sand all the layers of very dark varnish and wood stain off the top of my old kitchen table would take hours. It didn’t help that I’d unknowingly used the finer sandpaper at first and wondered why it didn’t seem to be doing anything. As soon as I changed it for the roughest textured sandpaper (which came in the box), and applied a bit more pressure, it worked a treat. More time consuming than I thought, but really pleased with the results !

Great for my first renovation attempt !

First time using a sander and I like it. I saw someone mention the Velcro came off, if you use it for sanding glossed doors etc, peel it off slowly, and it should be fine, my Velcro hasn’t lifted at all. If you are unsure about how to use it check the YouTube videos. The hoover part is no good for my hoover. My project is a medium but with refills I can see this working fine for a large project.

I have always brought B&D because they are so reliable and great value for money. The one thing you must do is buy the correct sandpaper that matches up with the holes in the sander. I always use a Henry Hover with the sander but any Hover is fine as long as you have the right attachments. If you don’t press too hard on the sander the motor will last for a few years and when it finally goes it’s cheaper to buy a new one than repair the old one.

There’s no handle as such so I was initially wary of using this, but once I got used to it, it was easy enough. I am a novice to sanding tools I usually sand by hand, however I am planning on painting my stairs so decided to get this. It’s loud and the vibration is quite strong, however once I got used to holding it, it done the job well. I used one pad on 4 stairs before I needed to change it, I had used a heat gun previously to remove the old paint. I would say it wouldn’t have worked as well if I hadn’t done that first though. Ideal for small jobs.
