Power and PerformanceThe Alligator Powered Lopper jaws offer the ultimate in controlled cutting. This cutting tool has a large cutting capacity (10cm jaw length) which makes light work of branches and logs up to 4″/10cm. The rugged metal guard protects the jaws from damage, whilst the auto oil feature ensures a fully lubricated chain reducing any chance of breakage. | Innovative DesignThe design allows the user to use the tool in the same way as a manual lopper but with the added power and cutting performance of a chainsaw. The lopper style dual switch handles provide optimal control and comfort. The lightweight design and fully enclosed bar and chain makes it much easier to handle compared to a standard chainsaw. The rugged metal guards that cover the jaws protect you from the cutting chain and immediately cover the blades once the cut is complete. | Main Uses and ApplicationsThe Alligator Powered Lopper works like a manual lopper however its chainsaw likeness expands its capabilities. The tool can be used to easily prune trees back and remove stubborn branches. The jaws also allow the user to safely cut larger branches down to a smaller size, these logs can then be used for wood burners or just for easier disposal. | SafetyIt is important to remember to wear the appropriate safety equipment such as approved safety gloves or goggles (available separately). This ensures full protection for the user against any loose debris that may move towards you. Remember to make sure the branch or log you want to cut is not too big for the lopper as this may damage the jaws. Avoid stretching for out of reach branches to cut as this also may cause injury. |

Cutting tool
These are great but remember to keep them oiled I had some before and did not do this so unfortunately seized up. A really great tool and safe to use
A great addition to your toolbox.
A good help around the garden especially when removing conifers.
Just be sure to oil the chain after 10 minutes use.
The chain sometimes comes off the track if you overload the saw (with too large a branch) but it is easily relocated.

Safe and easy to use
Cuts through branches up to 4 inches with ease. Can safely lift up to a reasonable height to reach higher branches. Wood cuttings seem to clear away easily from the mechanism after cuts are made. The way the saw blade is enclosed is a great feature. Well-designed tool.
Sturdy piece of equipme
Very sturdy and easy to use. My husband loves it!
Love my new toy!
Love this machine although it’s much heavier than I expected for an electric one.
Highly Effectice Tool
Why didn’t I buy these a long time ago? Slices through branches easily in seconds. Safer to use and lighter than an open chainsaw, these are ideal for small to medium-sized branches, especially on living bushes and small trees. By gripping the wood a bit like pliers they provide their own stability while cutting. Wish I’d known about this garden tool earlier!

works perhaps better then I expected
very useful for trimming overgrown shrubs with branches of over 50mm which would take an age with hand saw and not really possible to do with ordinary chainsaw
keeping the chain well oiled and correct tension is important
the chain oiling device is my only real criticism
cant understand why black&decker have stopped making this tool so if you are thinking of buying one do it Now

Very good Tree loppe
It is a very good piece of equipment and cuts through tree branches like a hot knife through butter. I feel safe using it when wearing the right gear.
My only complaint is the oil system is poor (better to oil the chain direct) and the oil bottle supplied is only worth chucking in the bi

A real time saver and easy to use.
I had a large Laurel Bush in my back garden which was over 30 years old so it really was a fair size. I tried cutting the heavy trunks with a large pruning saw which was extremely hard and time consuming. The Aligator saw made quick work of this. I’m not keen on using a chain saw but this has guards each side of the blade which feels a lot safer. Cuts through wood very quickly and the guards move back as the blade goes deeper into the wood so it’s not restricting the depth of the cut.

Wonderful garden tool
Bought this as i had a lot of heavy pruning to do. It is a wonderful machine, with extensive reviews on utube etc.
Best part about it are the safety features incorporatd into the deisgn, which you don’t get with a standard chain saw. Very pleased that i bought this and i know it will last me for years to come. Full marks to Black & Decker for producing it !

Great for the quick and simple cutting of stuff round the garde
I love this machine – so much safer and easier to use than a chainsaw and so quick to get through making branches into manageable chunks of wood. Great product B&D.
Powerful!
Easy to use but a fair weight. Does what it says on the box.
Buy it you won't be disappointed
Amazing tool. If your looking at this Alligator than you already need something to cut up anything from small sticks to 5″ logs. Let me tell you this is the safest, quickest and actually fun way to do it. It grips the wood and forces it into the blade, no more getting the right angle with a chainsaw and having the blade get pinched or logs rolling away. My 16yo son is now a tree surgeon with this thing. Really really impressed with this tool.

excellent piece of equipme
One of the best power tools I’ve ever bought. Does everything that I expected of it. Easy to use and cuts through wood without any strength needed. My only gripe is that I ordered it but never arrived. Although I received a refund when I reordered….the price had gone up

Excellent tool
This saw is excellent. It’s easy to handle and efficient. The oiling of the chain could be designed better but not a real issue for me. I use thie saw regularly and it has performed well without fail.
Brilliant loppe
This is perfect for trimming over grown trees and is much safer to use than a normal chain saw. I did use a ladder to reach 10 feet high trees so no great height involved but the instructions tell you not to use with a ladder. This job is done roughly every three years and the last time I did it, it took me two days with a reciprical saw and it wasn’t easy. With this Alligator it took me about 3 hours, with no sweat! Recommended!!!

Excelle
Excellent peice of kit, i love the scissor action. Be care full you just want to keep going
Very handy piece of ki
I hesitated buying this when I read some reviews that said it didn’t cut. I have now used it to cut branches over 3 inches in diameter. It slices through them with ease. I can only assume others that found it could not cut anything had installed the chain in the wrong direction. My saw had the chain preinstalled so there was no problem there.
It isn’t the lightest piece of kit but it’s not too heavy either even when using in a ladder.

The best device for sawing up wood
Unlike a chainsaw (although this is in effect a chainsaw) you feel totally safe using the lopper because of the guards on the chain. Very effective at sawing up branches etc.
FANTASTIC
This has to be one of the most useful tools in a garden tool box. Specially if you have big trees that require pruning back. And twigs that need cutting up. cutting. Will cut through branches 4 inch plus thick. “Fantastica”.

Yum yum yum it goes
Pretend you’re a tree eating Alligator with this killer tool. I managed to demount the chain a couple of times but it’s great at chopping up smaller branches. It becomes hypnotic after a while as you actively start looking for bits to chop off… The oil tank is a bit hit or miss so I just kept a handy oil can full of chain saw oil nearby…

Never use a standard chain saw agai
Fantastic tool. Better than my standard chain saw.
Effortlessly cuts through 4″ logs.
Much safer than a chain saw .
You do not need to be experienced with a chainsaw as this is extremely easy to use and the guards cover the chain.
I use this all the time now in place of my chain saw

Chainsaw scissors, what's not to like haha
Great bit of kit, saved me hours of cutting with a hand saw, can cope with quite chunky branches /logs, my only reason for not giving it 5 stars is the fact that it doesn’t have an internal oil bottle to keep the chain properly oiled, and the little squeeze bottle that came with it to manually lube the chain is very poor so you end up with more oil on your hands and surroundings than in the little hole that you’re supposed to squirt it in every 10 minutes of use. All in all does a good job and is easy and safe to use.

a must have implement for a gardene
i use it for gardening trees and shrubs, very sturdy and well made and easy to cut large branches more safely than a chainsaw.
A great produc
For this price great, cuts through branches like a hot knife through butter,a great product.
Love this!
This is basically a small chainsaw without the scariness-there’s no risk of kick-back from this as the chain is within a guard. I’m a fairly small woman but I have lopped large branches, cut down small trees and turned piles of branches into neat logs for the woodburner. Very satisfying.

Safe and easy
Purchased to replace one that gave up the ghost after almost ten years of use easy and safe to use my local builder borrowed mine and now keeps coming back to use i
It is a very good produc
No stress at all, it cuts branches perfectly, I like i
Safer than a chainsaw
Did an excellent job reducing the height of my beech hedging and was much safer than using a chainsaw
Safe and easy to use.
Nothing to dislike, great for cutting through ground tree roots 10/10
The Safety aspects associated with dual operational switches and guards over the chainsaw
Cutting tree trunks and thick shrub trunks safely was the key task especially as up ladders.
Made trimming my large bush easy
Will got through a through a log the size of a sturdy thigh no problem. Loaded easier to chop up things than a chainsaw.
Excellent chainsaw; slightly clumsy with the motor sticking out the side
Just used the alligator for the first time and it ripped through the logs I was cutting. Seems very powerful and can become addictive. Saw some reviews saying that it isn’t powerful/will only cut through twigs. Rubbish!! Only (small) problem I have found is that the motor sticks out to the side and this can get in the way when working in a tight situation. Apart form that, very impressed.

a rugged machine
went through my bushes like they were butter. excellent produc
Great tool, does the job
This is the second alligator I have purchased the last one one was well used and lasted in excess of 10 years , basically I wore it out and it was cheaper to replace the complete item rather than replace the parts.
BLACK+DECKER GK1000 Alligator Powered Lopper, 550 W
Used these yesterday as i got a chance to it was not raining they work very well cutting my hedge down
beats using a hand saw
Ease of use and light weigh
Does exactly what I want, to remove largish branches from small trees
The Alligator is a fantastic bit of kit. I’m on my second one now, the first lasted three years before the motor burned out, but during that time it did a lot of work.
I recently used it for taking down a 20 foot conifer hedge with approx 8″ trunks and with some careful rotation it will eat things far larger than the bar length. Apart from the very high stuff which i used a polesaw for, it did everything, right down to slicing all the wood into logs ready for the fire.
The best thing about this is that all the usual danger and precaution i take with the full size chainsaw is thrown to the wind and you can just get stuck in. There is never any danger of the chain touching the ground and it can’t really kick back on you. Even if it did the jaws would snap shut.
Its nice and quiet too, well in comparison anyway.
But its not all good, so here’s a few things that have let it down.
The auto oiler is a bit rubbish. it should really have a little tank, so every 30 mins or so you have to drip some more oil in and i usually rub some on the chain too for good measure.
The chain can jump off, but if you ensure the adjuster bolts are really tight it doesn’t happen very often. It usually happens with loose bits of wood that jump about and rattle the chain. When it happens it just stops. no danger.
It can get a big clogged up, so it needs a good shaking and cleaning after each use.
The power cable can get twisted as you work. I’d prefer a cordless , but the battery life is supposedly poor on this model.
Overall though i’d highly recommend it.

A must have
great piece of kit, will cut through quite large diameter logs , very handy
Great tool
Superb piece of kit and very well made , cuts more than it should and easy to use . Make sure you keep an eye on the chain tension and you’ll love it . Oh and don’t waste money on expensive chainsaw oil , it’s only vegetable oil , use whatever you have in the kitchen .

WARNING! This tool could result in a garden full of tree stumps! LOL
The minute this came out of the box I was off to the garden, chopping down small unwanted tree growth merrily! It is extremely easy to use, but the cable is short, so a good quality extension lead will be required in most cases.
The instructions are not very clear about the chain adjustment, but a quick youtube search sorted that out.
It will not cut through more than 4 inches, but it cuts that like knife through butter.
It is a heavy sturdy tool, and in the 2 weeks I’ve had it, it has proven its worth with many many car load trips to the tip.
I am very happy with it.
Pro Tip: Best to have a garden slave for gathering debris in your wake of destruction 😉

Cutting down very small trees or pruning small branches with a chainsaw is reasonably straightforward and safe if you do so with care. Cutting up the tree and branches on the ground if a different matter as there is nothing to hold the trunk/branches in place while you cut with a conventional chainsaw. This is where the Aligator makes the job simple and safe. It firmly holds what’s being cut and the chainsaw section pulls the branch tight into the jaws as it’s being cut – no risk of kickback which is always present with a conventional chainsaw. Easily cuts branches and young trees up to 4 inches thick with ease. Wish I had gotten one sooner. Great tool but only let down by the oil bottle supplied with it which leaks all over the place when trying to fill the Aligators oil reservoir. I threw it away and bought a better designed bottle for the purpose.
Makes a job which can be difficult and dangerous, simple and safe.

Alligator loppe
Only used it briefly so far but most impressive. Now weather improving hope to put it through its paces.
I've had one for years
I bought this as a gift for a family member who just moved into a new home with plenty of trees and shrubs.
Having had one of these alligator loppers for many years I know it will be extremely useful for him.
Mine has provided excellent service with minimal maintenance required.
Would recommend this to anyone who needs a reliable and practical garden tool.
Maked Pruning Easy
Love this product. Cuts with ease, not too heavy and safe to use.
dont for get to oil your chai
BLACK+DECKER GK1000 Alligator Powered Lopper, 550 W does the job it safe and I still doing a big job but still works well :-} happy Alligato
Handy for logging small to medium branches without assistance from a third party. Also good for heavy pruning without the fear of an open chain saw kicking back .
Good
Great pruners second pair I have had last one did a lot of work so hoping this one as good
Compact and easy to handle.
Like that it’s easy to handle and the chain is enclosed. Used for cutting small logs.
This thing is a BEAST. I’ve used it to cut 4 trees down in my back garden as well as lots of hedges. Like any tool, respecting what it is made for and how it works will get you the best results.
As pointed out in other posts, the key is to buy some chainsaw oil and lube the chain every 10-15mins of use. I also used that time to use a pliers and pull out any bunched up twigs (power off obviously!).
It might seem annoying to have to do the above but trust me you get quite quick at it and you’re back cutting fairly quickly. It’ll lesson the likelihood that the chain will slip or break on you or something worse!
Anyone who has seen me use this has said they want to buy one. I guess a lot of people like myself like the idea of using this over an open chainsaw.

Absolutely fantastic tool, used for hours on end
Absolutely fantastic tool, used for hours on end, we now attach it to a spare car battery when we need to work away from a power source.
It does seem to be really important to follow the advice on maintenance and chain tightening, but you’d expect that on any chainsaw.
The oil tank is also very difficult to get the oil into, however we just pump it directly on to the chain more frequently.
Easy to use, very effective! Enabled us to easily and safely reduce a very neglected laurel.
Beware of the amount of green waste you'll need to dispose of
Makes short safe work of cutting branches. Cut branches around 10cm mark with ease in seconds. Make sure the chain is oiled regularly and that logs are properly held to avoid them rotating in the jaws. Beware of the amount of green waste you’ll need to dispose of!
Chain saw for ladies
This lopper is easy to use and for ladies it is much better than chain saws ( which frighten me a bit and difficult to use). Does need to be oiled very regularly but that is the nature of the beast and quite simple to do. Could do with a slightly more flexible oil container so as to make it a bit more “squeezy” – I bought my own plastic squeeze bottle. Watched how to use video.

This would be brilliant, but I didn’t know that you had to plug it in. I haven’t used it yet. I live on a hill and my garden is a lot lower than the house. Would I have to use an extension lead to get to the garden?I don’t know that they would sell an extension lead long enough to reach it.

I have 3 petrol chainsaws and one electric chainsaw. None of them are useful for smaller logs and branches that are not still on the tree, since they roll. I assumed this would be naff because of how cheap they are. Well, I was pleasantly surprised. Because of the way it works, it pulls in the branch so always has an amazing grip. It’s a tad on the heavy size, for what it is, and the oil nipple is a bit of a fiddle, but I’m giving it 5 stars because of how well it does what it’s meant to.

Very good. Easy to use. Was bigger than I thought, but does the job very well.
Four Stars
Good but don’t bother trying to use the clever lubrication system, just slap oil on every few minutes.

Fantastic tool, whizzed through several small trees in the back garden in no time – chopped the lot up into one foot sections. Should have got one years ago.
Simple Superb Choppe
Arrived yesterday and so immediately set about chopping up two large tree limbs that have blighted the back of the garden. Super simple to use and feels much safer than conventional chainsaw. Like a hot knife through butter.
Cordless was bette
I had the cordless one before – this is more powerful but I miss the freedom of not having to find a socke
Excellent piece of kit use it all the time
Excellent piece of kit use it all the time, even my wife has a go with it. Really useful Thank you
I previously used a B & D corded chain saw for many years, but find it difficult to handle now. So I purchased this with all its safety features. . I was not disappointed it does all I want. Cutting through thicker branches my loppa want cut ,plus it does not bounce back if you touch the ground and the chain is enclosed in a “Pair of Jaws”. Much safer than my original chain saw. Also it can cut branches up to a medium size 4″/100mm. The only niggle is the oil applicator I use my small oil can,its not as messy. .It is easy to use and safer. Well worth the money.

I bought this to replace another one I had, which lasted me about 10 years (I think) with plenty of rough handling and cutting through the cord once. I highly recommend this lopper if you have lots of bushes/tree branches to cut. So much quicker than an ordinary lopper. Also, once you have the branches in a pile, this is the quickest and easiest way to chop them up so they can be fitted in bags for the tip. I also use them for smaller things (for speed) but some stuff gets wrapped around the chainsaw blade- you need to keep pulling it out, and every so often, take the cover off to get it all out and free everything off again. But this is easy to do, and it it is still the easiest way to chop a lot of stuff up. I have also used it to cut thicker branches than you are supposed to, by cutting round bit by bit. It is faily heavy, but I am a small women and can manage to use them for quite a long time before tiring. It is also much less scary (and seems much safer) than a proper chain saw (I think.) In short, I find these extremely useful and time saving in the garden- well worth the money.
I bought this to replace another one I had, which lasted me about 10 years (I think) with plenty of rough handling and cutting through the cord once. A really handy piece of kit. As others have said the chain oil system is poor and the documentation on this really should tell you more regarding oil application. For example I have no idea whether there is a reservoir of oil in the machine (as on petrol chainsaws) Again like others I ended up unplugging and then applying the occasional film of oil to the chain – I have no idea as to whether this is enough. I’d advise people not to use it on thin twigs that would come off with secateurs as this will often throw the chain. When you are cutting light wood that’s lying on the ground, make a firm initial grip as this will prevent it from suddenly rotating dangerously. The GK1000 is happy to cut quite large diameter branches. Well worth the money.

Fab mini chainsaw
Brilliant, suddenly no large bush or small tree is safe! Got rid of some ugly bushes (not bird friendly either) and replaced with something wildlife friendly – brill. The ultimate mini chainsaw – safe for even a lady to use!
great tool and about as much fun to use as it looks! eats through branches and turns a pile of wood into a load of neat logs in no time at all.
The chain guards work well and feel like they improve the safety, especially if the chain broke (which commonly causes injuries) – I had been thinking of getting a standard chain saw, but am much happier with this.
It can be used to cut through thicker branches, if you cut from one side, then turn the branch over and cut the other side.
I used it all afternoon – cutting a barrow full, storing the logs and cutting the next barrow full. I checked the motor for heat and it never got hot. In the end I did about 7 or 8 barrows piled high, with no problems.
Two issues (1) you *must* oil the chain and mustn’t use it without oil being applied first, but no oil was supplied with mine – some people seemed to have got oil with theirs, some not!!! so I had to run out to the local DIY to get some – NOTE, chain saw oil is thick – thicker than motor oil, so don’t think you can use WD40 or 3-in-1 its just not thick enough.
(2) putting the oil into the oiling hole, is a messy and confusing procedure – as some have said, its probably easier to just apply it directly to the chain.

Best friend. Sharp , efficient and easy to work with !!
This replaces one used heavily for 4 yrs
I would not be without this in my shrubby garden. Much easier than bowsaw for which narrow spaces are awkward.
After lopping off small branches it is quick to then cut thicker part of branch ready for drying in woodstore.
Very very pleasing.
I have only used this once, so I can ...
I have only used this once, so I can only say it went well and did the job I wanted to do.
Lovely loppe
This is an amazing tool, works well on medium size branches, very useful but wished I’d got the cordless one as cut though the cord on my first use! Woops. Luckily no damage to me or machine as it stopped instantly so at least safe. Just take care, I was using safety goggles but I didn’t see the cord get in my way in my enthusiasm, as this lopping lark gets addictive. Good product though, Just the human at fault.
Oh my god this actually makes gardening enjoyable!! .Who doesn’t relish the chance to play TERMINATOR with the overgrown trees and deadwood ruining the garden.Downed the thickest of the trees I was getting rid of in seconds..and even quicker through the slimmer branches,,zero effort required (I’m right handed and I’m waiting for an operation on my right shoulder..but this is very light so minimum pain.)
One thing I have learnt though, and this is down to my own stupidity..When cutting stuff down to size that will fit in a garden waste bin for burning..drag it nearer the bin before you do your cutting..otherwise bits will be all over the garden..
Marvellous bit of kit,as they say.
