Excellent addition to garden tool ki
Easy to use and assembled within minutes- boxed with charger makes a handy toolkit. Cuts well and instructions are very good. Needs a bit of time to clean the sawdust from chain afterwards but worth the effort- great purchase
Despite comments from some of the more ‘macho’ reviewers, this is NOT a ‘toy’, but a well designed addition for anyone requiring a small chainsaw type tool. It will not cut down thick trees, nor is it intended to, but it has helped me to trim dozens of wood panels in my new fencing plus a host of other jobs. This is NOT intended for the professional builder which is why it is labelled as ‘Home and Garden’ and not ‘Professional’.
My only irritation is that ‘professional’ tool batteries do not fit, nor are the correct batteries and chargers available on Amazon but they are available from other sources.
Smashing bit of well designed kit. Would be even better if battery supply was sorted. Highly recommended.

Bosch 12iv cordless saw
Great tool w superb engineering. Great addition to a chainsaw in the garden. Should I replace with the larger 18v model? Mine came with battery fitted. Despite the warning in instructions it was a tussle to remove battery which then took several hours to charge.
I was going to pay someone to cur some thick branches for me. I bought this little chainsaw to do a bit of tidying up the garden as at 68 I can’t handle most power tools. Well this little thing is just fantastic, went through the big branches like butter.

Great little saw
Easy to use. A bit of sawing motion helps a lot. Although it’s not very powerful, it is easy and versatile.
I can’t find an extra battery to fit it. The Bosch spare batteries are a slightly different shape.
Works really good had to remove some small trees blade broke found it hard to buy a new one, okay if you’re under 63yrs old. Great little saw. I would like to give it 5 stars all round but for replacing saw blade. Don’t blame them safety really.

Great tool/toy . Be careful and slow at speed ,it gets the job done. A drop of CLP at the tip lubes pivot point.
It’s basically a more robust jigsaw that also allows for plunge cuts. It’s definitely worth having to hand around any home or garden DIY projects. Just for trimming out parts or being able to get into hard to reach parts that a bulky jigsaw might not get into.

I saw lots of bad reviews for this and I don’t know why. My neighbour let me have a quick go with his and I loved it. It does the job and has certainly made cutting back the wood in my garden 100x easier.

I needed to remove the skirting board in my kitchen so a new dishwasher could be installed. The moron who installed the kitchen had left way too much skirting board hidden inside where the cupboards go round a corner causing the skirting to be wedged so no amount of pulling at an angle would get it out.
After dismantling half of the kitchen I could finally see the other end of the skirting board in a small 1ft square space. Hacksaws and my circular saw were way to big to fit in there.
So, enter this tool which fit into the tiny space behind the cupboard and allowed me to chop off all the excess, unneeded skirting. This would have been an impossible job without this tool, I’m very happy to have it.
As a bonus I also have a Bosch drill that uses the same battery so it’s easy to swap between tools if a battery goes flat.

Small but powerful mini chainsaw

I bought my first 2 years ago and was so happy I have just bought another to take on bushcraft and wild camping trips so my partner can also assist with fire keeping duties.

Easy to clean blade
Because I have bought Bosch products before I bought this and it came with a 60 nano blade which I would compare to a dovetail saw. This was not effective in cutting branches, so I have purchased a 50 basic blade which is coarser. Initially I found it difficult to remove the battery. I think in hindsight I should have searched for a garden related mini chainsaw.

This is an amazing piece of kit. I can’t understand the negative reviews. It cuts straight and true, I’ve had no problems with the chain snapping, I’m still on the same chain after a couple of months with regular use. It cuts well beyond it specified range. The battery lasts ages.
If you haven’t used a chainsaw before, here’s the trick. Place the saw guard against the branch. Start the saw and gently lower it into the branch. If the branch is thick, rotate the saw around the branch. Do not push and pull the saw forward and backward like a traditional handsaw.
I’ve used it on sawn timber and live green wood, works perfectly on both.
Cracking little machine
Makes short work of jobs in the workplace and around the garden. Just cut down tree to ground level in a couple of minutes. Top class tool.
Fine, but redesign the battery release.
So I will start with the biggest problem I encountered, namely getting the battery our of the handle of the machine to charge it.
You need enhanced muscles in your fingers to apply enough pressure to release the battery.
As for its operational abilities, it performed pretty much as expected – nothing special, but works OK. i sawed down about 20 boughs of varying thickness with no problem. A modest sawing motion helps its performance.

Handy for the lazy but limited capability
Quite a handy tool around the garden and cuts reasonably well. Battery charges quickly but doesn’t last much more than 20 minutes. Safety switch is awkward to use – I certainly can’t use it one-handed but I suppose that’s the idea. Only other criticism is that it only cuts down meaning it can’t be used like a chainsaw pulling up on the blade/cutting upwards. Recommended nonetheless if you’re too lazy to use a saw!

87% Speed Improvement!!
I use this miniature chain saw to open all packages and letters that come to my residence. Since it arrived I have been able to open packages 87% faster than before – a tremendous speed improvement! Plus the thrill of accidentally damaging the products inside with just a slight slip of the had really adds to the experience! I would recommend this to anyone looking to optimize their unboxing experiences.
I liked the compact size of the product, I was a little dubious as there were lots of negative reviews who by the way are completely wrong and I would put their poor experience down to user error whilst using the tool. Most negative reviews were to do with battery run time, but unless you have owned multiple power tools like myself from the likes of Dewalt and Makita then you should realise that this tiny 12v device has an impressive run time considering its purpose in life.
Others complained about the blades breaking or becoming blunt, well trust me I bought a second blade just in case and really had no need to as the first blade is still as sharp as ever the task I put it through.
I cut down a massive ivy tree that had collapse from the neighbouring garden into ours during the very high winds. The ivy tree was large enough to fill an 8m cubed skip for a reference of how large this was.
The battery had a run time of around 30 to 40 mins depending on how large the branch was that I was cutting down and although I only bought with one battery, the Dremel batteries also fit as does the Bosch strimmer battery so I was able to swap to a fresh battery and keep going, so if this is your first 12v device from Bosch, I would certainly recommend the second battery.
It terms of preservation of the blade, I would run the blade and squirt a little WD40 from time to time as there is no lubricant like on a real chain saw. I would also use some WD Silicone lubricant spray afterwards to keep things from clogging up.
Well forget the rest of the reviews, just watch my video on YouTube and make the purchase, I haven’t regretted it and neither should you.

Useful little saw
I was sceptical about this saw as it seemed to be too small to be of any real use. However, I have been proved wrong as it is a versatile piece of equipment that copes well with many different tasks. It is easy to use and the battery lasts a long time before needing a recharge. Recommended

Very helpful tool for Pruning
This works very well up to about 8 cm it will cut through thicker branches but it takes time. The unit is light adaptable and the battery lasts well and charges quickly. I suggest that you take the blade out after each use and a clean the teeth. Good piece of kit, well made and should last a long time.

At first I wasnt sure it would be as useful as I had hoped. But once I had mastered the need to apply pressure in a sort of rocking motion I found this tool would do what I needed.
– cutting up sticks for kindling
– cutting “small” branches from the top of a large bay laurel (reducing height by 7ft)
– even used it for hedgelaying to help with the stem cut and tidy up after.
This is not a heavy duty cutting tool and is definitely not for the clumsy but for those more safety aware. I have found it useful.

Lightweight Bosch Chainsaw
Smaller than I expected, but easy to use, very lightweight and works well on trimming trees, even on the thicker branches, it’s good that it’s battery operated, no trailing wires to get in the way.

Wonderful little tool for use in gardening
This tool is a welcome replacement for manual brush cutters — works beautifully. One caution: if you order an extra battery, be aware all 12v small tool Bosch batteries do not fit. At least one looks the same but it is not the same. The Bosch advertising about this tool using a universal Bosch 12 volt battery is misleading at best. If you buy the wrong battery, returning is a hassle because the Royal Mail will not accept lithium batteries.

Dissappinted that cutting blade was shorter than expected. Yes it did cut 1inch easily but anything above 1.5 inches was a struggle.

Wow what a fab item, particularly for women who cannot manage to hold a larger Chain Saw. It does as advertised. One warning though if you overwork it and break the chain,replacement chains even though easy to order are expensive at circa 26 each!

perfect little helper in the garden for the middle thick branches which are too quick for normal garden scissors, but not worth the big chainsaw.
This is a very easy to use saw…keep your fingers out of the way or you will lose a finger or two. The cutting depth is very good and clean, not the fastest saw but does a good job. Buy your self a 65 mm blade as you will extend the use of this very versatile little saw. Battery life ain’t great but 30 mins or so is enough to prune both my front and rear gardens….if I had wanted a chainsaw I would have bought one.

Handy to have around the garde
I would have given this product a better star rating but the only down side I found was the battery. It doesn’t last that long, but on the plus side it doesn’t take too long to charge. Other than that great little item if you have some branches that need cutting back or for a small wood cutting job on diy in the house.

So easy to use I hadn’t used an electric saw before and needed it to cut branches in my garden, which it cuts through like butter!
A great tool, but really only for wood.
We liked this product lots, and we use it for cutting branches and rough cutting wood mostly for outdoor stuff.
The cut, isn’t as clean as a circular saw, or a scroll or jig saw, but it’s not bad, and with some sand paper you’d never guess what your wood was cut with.
Although we knew we weren’t supposed to, we tried it on other materials, like soft metal strips.
NOT A GOOD IDEA – it shredded the mini chainsaw blade, and I’m glad we were wearing eye protection.
25 later with a new blade, we now know what it can’t do.
Overall a nice bit of kit. More for outdoor use than for cabinet making we suspect, but very easy to use.
Some have suggested it’s designed to replace a hand jigsaw, but if it is, it won’t be as manoeuverable, or be able to cut anything like the range of materials, so we doubt that this is really the case.
Good saw for tricky jobs
I’ve had this saw for a month. Used it a lot for installing cat flap on a upvc doors, cutting out old floorboards and installing new. I found the ability to make plunge cuts extremely useful. I’ve seen some negative reviews suggesting it’s a toy, but I don’t feel the same. It’s a GREAT piece of kit. It’s enabled me to do real work that would have been hard with a jigsaw. Very happy I bought this saw. It’s not fast but it’s accurate and easy to use!
Smashing little gadge
I was struggling to cut our hedges with standard loppers and shears. This little tool cut through the branches without any issue. Also used tidy up trees and large shrubs with ease. Relatively light and easy to hold and use.
Recharges quickly although the battery lasts for longer than I do every day!

Small chainsaw broke and not working any more 2 nd charge and the chainsaw holder crime think we’ve had it 3-4 weeks 23 pounds for a new adapter no thank you and the hole thing cost 74
Good hand held saw for small cutting tasks
Just what I needed for small wood craft projects. Would also be great in the garden for cutting branches.
You need to hold it very firmly against what you’re cutting or it goes all over the place. With more practice I’m sure it will be fine.
An excellent prune for jobs in the garden.
So far so good. Although have had it since December only used this last week. It is an excellent product for cutting and pruning branches that cannot be done by the usual hand held cutter. My husband loved it too. Took only a short time to get a small tree pruned. Largest branch cut was around 3inch diameter. I would highly recommend. For this kind of job. Not sure how long a charged battery would go as did not need to. Wish I had one years ago.

being realistic, this is a great tool to have in your kit, but not for the features promoted by Bosch. Its great when you need to reach out for a safe, small accessible gadget for a neat quick cut in plastic, light wood, etc. I am a professional gardener and I would never use it for pruning but I do find it invaluable when a job calls for imagination and creative dexterity.
By the way, yes the battery does stick in the unit and after 18 months this has not improved, but i have a habit of sticking it in the view on its way to the recharge station.

Good for light wood cutting jobs
Great cutting tool but bear in mind it’s only for wood and plastic unlike a typical jigsaw which can be use on cutting metal. Have said that it makes cutting pieces of wood on the fly (eg. Trees, pallets, crates, etc) really easy. Not sure how long the nano blade will last as these are expensive to replace (around 40 for the 65mm precise cut one!). So far it has been a good purchase and I’m happy with the result. Comes in a nice roomy plastic case.

Wow I am so impressed with my latest Bosch product.
Made short work of cutting up my old 7 x 5 foot garden shed.It powered through the timber with ease including the door and bracing bars without a hitch, very impressed with the battery life too, it didn’t let me down.

Bought to scarf some square plastic drain pipes institu. Worked a treat. Made a day job into a 30 minute job.
Very handy and a nice clean cut at the drop of a hat. Just a very handy tool.
It’s never going to replace a jigsaw, piranha saw, or junior hacksaw but for quick or space constrained difficult jobs it is perfect.
Now if only they would bring it to the states so I could reliably get blades.
I really like it.
But because Bosch does not sell this in the US, I had to acquire a charger designed for 110v mains and I will need to stock up on blades rather than buy them one at a time.
I did already break one blade but that was my own fault. Just like a “real” chain saw it is not really meant for plunge cuts, especially when one is being aggressive with wall studs, so the wheel the blade rolls on broke.
This is in no way the fault of the saw and I look forward to many years of easily cutting sheet rock, trimming small limbs, and opening packages like old bumblefack.
amazing ability to cut into deep corners
I have a comlete range of mains and battery cutting tools. This mini chain saw is a revelation and fills a gap that needed filling. It feels solid and sounds good, but its ability to do fine cuts deep into recesses is amazing. Its now my go to saw for any sort of fine cut when space is limited.

It’s the dogs bollocks! Mini chainsaw! What’s not to like!!
Battery lasts ages, the blade is tough and hasn’t broke. I have cut loads of things down with it. Walk round the garden and cut down what ever takes your fancy!
Also used it for cutting logs, cupboards, doors etc.
Infact I have now run out of things to cut with it.
For now. It comes is a good case too.
Very happy with it. Wanted the 18v one really as I have other 18v Bosch stuff but the price of this one makes the 18v one not worth it.
