This is a great time saving tool for any one with hedges and bushes. It cuts through ours like butter. When you do hit a thicker branch that its not too keen to cut in one go, I tend to just keep going at it in waves and it eventually cuts it. I’m actually very impressed at how strong this is for the price we paid for it. We tried the battery version of this and it ran out far too quickly for what was needed. I’d rather be sitting in my garden, rather than waiting around for batteries to charge and having to do it by hand whilst I wait. With this you don’t need to worry about charging times, just make sure you’ve got an extension lead (the attached lead is not very long) and you’re all set! The benefit, is that if it does struggle it has all the power it needs on tap, to tackle any hurdles.
The blade includes a fiddly cover that I guess protects it or rather you from it. I’ll be honest, I’m probably going to throw it away, its a bit of a hassle trying to put it back on and mine will be staying in the shed when not in use and there a far sharper objects in there than this, so it’s a bit silly in my view. The blade it self is a perfect length, just long enough to be able to cut horizontally and vertically in just a few strides. For me, theres no need for a step ladder or squeezing myself onto the other side of the hedge, as this is the perfect length.
I have found that holding it up after a while, it does tend to feel quite heavy but I would think most things would, if you held it above shoulder height for long. For under 40 this is a true bargain and I would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family (although, they’ll likely just borrow mine now). Even at the full RRP this is still a good purchase.
Edit: Having cut through the cable, it would be nice if the cable were replaceable. I have fixed and all is well, but on reflection it would be nice to be able to replace the cable should I cut it more often. What I may do, is just replace the cable myself, but it would have been a nice feature to have. Still a 5 Star and excellent value cutter.

Always buy Bosch hedge trimmers – they are robust and last a long time.
The last one lasted 3 years – about the minimum you’d expect but it’s easy to use.
The longer blade helped me tackle the nasty leylandi hedge, did what was asked of it. The one annoying thing was the delivery packaging could of been better but the tool worked well.
Its a very good hedge trimmer and very good for running off a generator when there is no electric like my job working on hedges in paddocks.

An excellent trimmer, well balanced with a good ‘reach’ and not too heavy in use. Just wish that the cable unfurled more smoothly and didn’t ‘kink’ when in use. Maybe this will smooth out over time. Otherwise a good piece of equipment.
It,s a bosch enough said really, but with hedge trimmers i always buy bosch, i find them reliable and strong enough to cope with my needs (conifer hedges ) easy to handle easy to manouver stays sharp, just the job.
Having had a Bosch trimmer previously I was keen to replace it with another. This one has a slightly shorter blade but a more powerful motor. The old one worked brilliantly so I assume this will be the same.
Bought this for my dad’s birthday to replace an old thing he had. He absolutely loves the cut it gives on his hedge. It’s nice and long to reach the top of his large hedge and is controlled easily. Once my own hedge has got to a suitable size I will be purchasing one.
Hedge trimmer came on time and I have used it once so far – no problems
My one small gripe was that the plastic sheath which covers the blades in storage was damaged at the inner end (see diagram). Amazon offered to replace the entire machine, but as the box had been badly bashed about in transit it wouldn’t have been suitable for returning it, and I told them I thought it wasn’t cost effective – they gave me a small refund and I can organise a replacement myself – top marks to Amazon too!

Excellent value for money. The two handle positions feel very comfortable and there is very little vibration. Cuts my privet with no problems, even the old woody bits. The cord is a little shorter than my previous Black & Decker, but I always use an extension cable anyway, so that’s not a problem.
bought these with our neighbour when our old pair died on us we both have a big gardens with a lots of hedge,we had our old pair about 6 years and they did ours and the next door garden so they did well.We replaced them with the up dated version…they have the long blade and are lighter than our old pair and are great to use .

Cuts the edge with ease only used it a couple of times but does the job.
Very pleased with this product which has cut easily through all hedging that I have asked it to tackle. Iit does everything that it is expected to do with no strain on its motor and gives a clean cut.
Excellent eletric tool, ligheter than the previous one I had but performance is much better. I didn’t put full mark because the delivery time promised was not, by far, respected. As for the product I recommend it as excellent.

This item works well and tackled some of the thicker growths in the hedge with great ease. It is lightweight (easy to use) but has the power to tackle the toughest job without much effort. The double safety switches are a nuisance, but their inclusion can be appreciated for the safety factor.
First Class hedge Trimmer for my Purpose, Cutting mixed Holly/ Cotonaster/ Roses.

Had the same model for a few years till they conked out. A bit of research showed these to still be good value so bought 50cm blade model, seems best length even for quite large hedges as not too long to be unwieldy but also not too short.
Cuts the hedge fine and is reasonably light.
As with other reviews I found holding the triggers down for continual use a bit hard on the wrists. One trigger would be a lot easier.
If you want a hedgecutter at the right price and that does the job, then this is the hedgecutter for you. Cut the hedges and they look very good. Would recommend it.
After years of using good manual clippers, age persuaded me to automate the jobs. The longer reach of this model is great, saves climbing higher on the step ladder and leaning at a dangerous angle! Copes with both privet and a mature Leylandii hedge, except for the thickest branches. Love Bosch gardening tools, well made and do the job.
Criticising a hedge cutter because it merely trims and not cuts is fair, but a little harsh. As a trimmer it is excellent. It is lightweight and easy to handle with a decent length power cable allowing me to work around my entire front garden. The blade protector that comes with the ‘Bosch’ is also a very good touch as it means the blades should last a little longer before furring up and needing to be oiled. At the price point the ‘Bosch’ hedge cutters are available for, they represent very good value. However, on occasion I would have liked a little more grunt from them.
Really pleased with the performance of this hedgecutter although my partner thought it a little heavier than anticipated but great results. I have already submitted a review of the packaging as requested……..which was poor, with a hole in the box & no more protection than the box itself
Seems OK. Not given much use due to bad weather. But it was replacement for a Bosch item which lasted 3 years of hard use.

I purchsed this Hedge cutter after mulling over and over the blade size and finally settled for Bosch AHS 50-16 – which is not only good quality tool but good value too.
It is perfect size and weight to cut Medium sized hedges.

This is the first powered hedge-trimmer I have bought, on moving into a new house we now have 60m of 1.5m high box hedge to cut. I can complete this without too much strain on my arms because the weight is fine. The blade length allows me to get an even cut and the tooth spacing copes with the slightly thicker stems OK (box is quite a hard wood).
after handleing other makes i chose this one because it felt right and i did not suspect its reliability .After my daughter and her husband came to give a helping hand they also liked it and dumped their old cutter and bought one the next day we have a large amount of hedging and i am still very pleased with it so full marks all round
Sturdy construction and it feels like it is up to the job. The hand control electric safety switches are a bit heavy to keep pressed in and tire your hands after continuous use. The balance of the cutter could be a bit better but otherwise it is man enough for the job and the quality seems good.
Cut off thick branches and still in working order. Nice and smaller than my last one which was a monstrosity but still powerful enough.

Arrived in good condition. Item as described but the balance is slightly off as the blade is long. But cuts the hedges well and will be well used.
Extremely fast. You will never doze off using this machine, you’ll have the neighbours looking out. A bit awkward with the cable attached at times but not impossible to manoeuvre. It was good buying it from Amazon and it came very quickly.
The blade cover is awkward to fit and fiddly.
Otherwise the blade length is good, its not too heavy generally very pleased.
The delivery service was excellent.
Not your typical Bosch product but good nevertheless. Does the job it is supposed to do, and is nice and lightweight. There are probably better cutters available, but at a weight penalty. Recommended if you have a bit of arthritis in the wrists, like me.

Its easy and light to use and does not vibrate as much as I would have expected its very smooth to use.
Its cuts through all of the 12 months growth with no problems, and the blades look as if they will last me out.
Had to purchase new hedge cutter due to older one literally ‘blowing up’ (a cheap item). I am really happy with this new item, it is lighter to hold and works like a dream. Really pleased with purchase and would recommend it to everyone.

Bought this for my son as a present, he is delighted with it and does the job of cutting his hedge, I have Bosch lawnmowers and lawn rakers so hopefully he has plenty of use from it.
However the former heavier and robust model AHS 480 I had developed a motor fault (commutator lost segments) bear in mind, purchased in 2004 and has had considerable use by myself and family members so not so bad although annoying it broke down half way through the job.
The difference in use is the 480 well balanced, although heavier, was easier and more comfortable to use on vertical plane from low cut up to and above shoulder level as not only the forward switch but had interlinked side switches whereas the 50-16 only has the forward switch and makes for un-comfortable vertical plane cutting. I suppose I will get used to it.
A useful machine, the blade guard easy to get off less than easy to get back on so found the old machine guard fits it, So the down sides are minor, lack of side switches and naff guard.
Hopefully I can recover the blades from the old machine for the new one if they fit I’ve yet to find out. The old guard fits the new machine so that’s a bonus.
Good product which is well designed. I’ve been using Bosch Hedge Trimmers for years. They only last one season, but as they’re good value for money, I keep with the company. They appear to have a built-in fault but I’m happy with that as they are cheap to replace, although I am not happy that the Earths resources are being wasted for commercial gain. I needed a longer cutting blade to reach higher hedges.
I have a large hedge in height, about eight foot, and with this cutter it means I can reach the top without having to climb ladders.

An excellent product which I have found ideal for the task it was required for. It arrived safely although the packaging was damaged but the item was complete. It has been used to cut a beech hedge of some height an has succeeded in doing the job satisfactorily.
Light in weight and does the job but I miss the extra triggers that I had on a previous hedgecutter as this restricts you to holding it from the top only.
Works well – replacing a Flymo sabre cordless hedgetrimmer whose power supply failed after 2 summers. Seems to be more powerful than the Flymo despite costing half as much. A bit heavy for an unfit 50+ lady to use for more than 30 mins at once, but that isn’t the hedge trimmer’s fault.
A perfect replacement eor the one i ruined.The price beat all the other sites i visited.It arrived on time and well packaged.The downside was,that there was no longer an excuse to not cut the hedge.Thank you.
excellent cutter for the price payed,easy to handle but found switch a bit tiring as it needs a tight grip to keep switched on.
Within 20 minutes of its first use I cut through the power cord and it took a while to get the right screwdriver to break into the machine body and replace the cord. Seems ok though.
I chose this hedge cutter mainly because of the Bosch name and reputation. I find that it is lighter than other models I have used. It has a comfortable grip, is easy to start and hold in the on position.
Pleased with this, seems a reasonable compromise between price and outright performance and I would rate it as a very effective hedgetrimmer. It’s also lighter but with a longer blade than our previous model.
Excellent performance, ideal size for domestic hedges. Light weight and a decent length of cord to negate always having to use an extension cable. Good value
This is really a very good machine, I already used it a few days after it arrived. Does what it says, clean cut, very silent, light in the hands and very easy to work with in all angles. Got this delivered only a few days after I placed the order and came completely undamaged. I must say that there is a very long cable attached to the machine so you have plenty of space to work and nearly need another cable. Very pleased with the quick delivery!

Maybe the 55 would have been better but this works very nicely and cuts through branches that you might think would be too thick.

I bought this to replace a cordless hedgecutter which was adequate but too heavy and needed recharging too frequently (45 minute use) for my liking.
I use this for trimming a privet and beech hedge and it is very effective.

Very good . Metal blades and cuts hedges well. Ideal weight for both sexes in order to do a good job. It is strong and has been well tried by us for fir tree and hebe hedges which are denser than privot.I never give 5 stars as nothing is perfect but Everything is very good .

I wasnt keen on this at first as it didnt seem to cut as good as my old one but my neighbour had more success with it then I did. He managed to cut quite a few inches off easily and quickly and it was quite a thick hedge. Didnt think it was very powerful but it did the job and did it well!
This was an extremely good price after quite a lot of research and my mum has found it very light to use.
I have not used this very much yet but on the occasions that I have it has worked beautifully and speeded up my tidying in the garden. It will get a real test in the Spring but I am very pleased with the initial results.
Use this for all our shrubs about twice a year plus a couple of small hedges. My husband mainly uses it and I do sometimes as it is not too heavy. Does a good job.

Good cable length and sturdy feel and the end result was fast to achieve and what I was looking for.The longest part of the job was clearing the offcuts!
Good product. Weight and balance quite reasonable. I am glad that I went for the 60cm blade, rather than one with a short blade. It cuts well, though sometimes struggles a little with branches that approach the 16mm tooth gap.
It does its job perfectly, it cuts through a very overgrown hedge no trouble at all.
Plus the fact that when you release either switch the blades stop in about one second.
This is a good safety feature, my old one took at least four seconds which was a bit dicey to say the least.
Its not too nosiey either, all said and done a good product.
The product arrived promptly and it does axcactly what it sez on the box, plus it is easy to use and very light. It may have been a good idea to supply a little cleaning oil with it to keep it in good condition. Otherwise very satisfied.
