Simple to use, light weight yet powerful and with very good safety design. However it is louder than previous models and at 100db you will be wanting to wear ear defenders when using it.
… there were bits broken off both ends of the blade cover. The box was slightly damaged too. After I registered (with difficulty) the guarantee, Bosch refused to send me a new cover, telling me to contact Amazon, who, of course wanted me to send the whole machine back. I declined.
Apart from that, the trimmer does its job well. It is slightly heavier than I expected, though.
Item is heavy, cuts small branches well but snags on a regular basis.
Wanted one of these for ages, this product is light weight and easy to use, small enough to store till needed again next year.
As expected, does the job & can handle 15mm branch stems. Not light weight, when cutting 10 feet hedges can be tiring & not very manoverable. Next time would consider battery option, and most light weight option. Overall for limited usage, a good solid machine.
The switch tends to be rather intermittent in operation – the cutter just stops from time to time for no very evident reason. Teeth do well on small branches and twigs, but often appear to find even moderately thick branches too much for themselves. But in general terms it does a satisfactory job.
Son-in-law used this and found it lightweight and easy to use. Cut hedge back really quickly.
Bosch AHS 50-16 Electric Hedge Cutter
Bought this to replace a similar, but battery-powered, model (AHS 3 Accu) that had served me well for around 20 years. This corded model is so powerful and easy to use, that I didn’t want to stop! A hedge that used to take weeks to trim now takes a day.
My only very minor criticism would be: the cord could do with some sort of catch or guard, to ensure it doesn’t slip onto the blade.
Great value for money.
Bosch are a top brand and l could not get a unit in Ireland in recent weeks. I ordered mine from Amazon and it was delivered within 5 days.
Really cracking piece of kit, lightweight with long cord that almost made my extension redundant in a 25m long garden. Powerful and easy to use. Also huge fun.
The hedge cutter was delivered very quickly from Bosch.The machine is as good a standard as the delivery service.Very impressive when compared to my previous hedge cutters,Can be stored in its box.
This hedge trimmer is a reasonable weight while having a long enough blade to make quick work of trimming hedges and shrubs. It is also much quieter than the one it replaces.
Love Bosch but this product is amazing does all it is needed to do + the motor power is amazing for large gardens with bushes and hedges that need trimming!

I liked the cutter and every thing worked as it should. However, signing up for the three year warranty was a nightmare. I have never used this site before and I hope that I will never have to use it again.

I found this very good. I used it for the first time as nobody to cut bushes. Being a female I wondered if I could manage but I did. Quite light and easy to use.
Blade is quite long so it means you cover more hedge with each cut which minimises time spent stretching out your arms. That’s logical but I hadn’t considered blade length when I bought it. The other plus is how sharp new blades are like cutting through butter and the machine is more than powerful enough for a suburban garden and importantly light enough for a relative oldie like me (70).
My cutting is used on a variety of shrubs, pitsom porum, climbing hydrangea, ceonathis, and various hedges – but no beech.

This hedgecutterwas ideal for doing just lightweight trimmimg. the battery well up to the job. a pleasure to use I told a friend to buy one ……….and he did ! one little problem, a week ago it stopped working……..the rigmarole to get it fixed is formidable. and I cannot find anybody to make a repair !.
The double buttom safety feature is great and eliminates accidents.

Hedge trimmers are lightweight and do the hedge well, but do find it a little difficult keeping both buttons in at the same time. But am sure I will get used to it.
Easy to use, but being a novice hedge-strimmer user, I cut through the cord after 30 minutes use. This was an expensive lesson to learn, but down to my own negligence. Up to then very happy with it and will definitely buy another.

I am incredibly impressed with this hedge cutter. Given that it was a more powerful model than the last one that i owned, and has aloger blade, it is both lighter, quieter and cuts brilliantly. It has exceeded my expectations and i can thoroughly recommend this product.

Addendum: Have now (end September) cut all hedging ready for the Winter. Partly due to the extraordinary dry Summer, the hedge growth was not as rampant as in previous years. The cutter has done the job well, although unlike it’s powerful heavy predecessor, it struggles somewhat with thicker stems. Nevertheless, it has proved the point, so I think it deserves the fifth star.
Got this after giving up on cordless, brilliant hedge trimmer I have 3 large hedges as I’m on a corner. Such a relief from having to wait for a battery to charge cuts with ease.

Excellent Tool. I was able to cut down smaller Fir – Trees and Hedges. I am really pleased with this product and is not so heavy. I am happy about the safety measure; you have to keep pushing the two triggers (handles) together, in order to use the electric hedge trimmer.
Love working with this power tool. It cuts with ease, doesn’t make too much noise and feels solid in hand. Great value for money and trims our hedges beautifully!
As I am a pensioner I find that this hedge cutter is nice and light and enables me to get all of my hedge cut in one day rather than spreading it over two or three days. I would strongly recommend this for anyone who needs a light weight cutter.
The cutter is quite light to use and has coped with about 100ft of hedge easily. It trimmed shrubs too and seems to do the jobs required with little difficulty. It is easy to use and the safety features plus a circuit breaker, of course, give peace of mind.
Bought this as I got fed up with my battery powered one that just doesn’t last long enough. This one is about the same weight – more powerful and just does the job really well. Impressed.

Really brilliant! Did not expect it to cut through Leylandy trees about 8/10mm diameter and more. Sure it’s a Bosch!
Unfortunately my husband cut through the wire on first use – so if you too are likely to do the same, I’d suggest a rechargeable version. That said, the cutter length is ideal for our medium garden, surrounded by hedges.
Had a Bosch Cutter before and was pleased with that hence getting the same to replace it.
Does what it should. Keep the blades oiled and it’ll last.
Usual fine quality that you expect from Bosch, well balanced and easy to handle. Flex is long enough to get a fairway without having to stop and move the extension lead. All in all a good product.
This unit is lightweight which is a must for something that has to be raised above head height. Easy to use grip as well. Only comment I have is that it doesn’t have a cable restraint although the accompanying user guide shows one.
I already owned one of these for many years, and its cut was first class. This replacement is equally good, and I hope for many years of service if the last one is anything to go by.
Functions well considering the price, could do better on larger branches, but otherwise very good.

Great cutter and quite light. I bought on behalf of my dad who finds it really easy to use. H e has a perimiter hedge and this tackles that with no problem at all. Easy to clean. As you would expect for the name.

Does the job. It’s a bit heavier than my old Calcast but has a longer reach, which is useful. So far has scythed through leylandii & beech hedges with no difficulty.
Prime delivery was fast and efficient.. cut 8 inches of regrowth on 60ft x 8ft box hedges in no time very happy with the result.. the cutter is not too heavy, the blade is long enough and it’s not too noisy.. a breeze
wow this strimmer for the money is amazing we have 7ft conifer trees that we shape ..and as the saying is like a knife through butter probably the best they’ve looked for a few years and for under 60 pounds …excelle
Light enough to use for over 4hrs in one go. Trims conifer hedges very well – ‘smooth’ finish, no tearing. Shame blade not 70 cm -would then be 5 star.
Good trimmer, but the blade guard is a bit cheap and fiddly to put on compared with my previous Black and Decker.
Bought this to replace a heavy set of hedge trimmers. Very good product and light to use. Would be no good for cutting thick branches, this one is ok up to 16mm which suits me fine. Would recommend this product.

Replacement for 40 year old black & decker, finished the hedge off a treat only time will tell if it’s as good as old one.
My other half wanted this Im a lady I find it a bit heavy but its a great item blade lovely and long to shorten your work time.
A bit heavier than I would have wished for but it has a good long blade that should make trimming my tree much easier than with my rechargeable model which has a shorter blade.
Brill – chopped my conifer no problem .now looks like a superb piece of topiary.i am sure it will be perfect for the hedges.
